I’ve been using the DJI Mavic Air for the past 3 months and i’ve been flying it pretty much all the time, so i think i have gathered enough data for an in-depth review about all the things I like and dislike about this drone. So in today’s video i’ll simply share my impressions after flying this drone ever since i got it in early February 2018.
Having upgraded from a DJI Spark to the Mavic Air, there are a couple of areas where this drone really shines, and also a few that leave something to be desired.

2021 and this is still one of my favorite drones. 4K, small and packed with features that many of the new dones are missing. This is the one that a bring on my motorcycle rides, while my Air 2S is left behind.

Just picked up a Mavic air as a backup to my P4P V2 and Mavic pro 2. Am pleasantly surprised on how good the video image quality is. With the drone set up properly and good pilot skills, this thing just rocks.
I bought one 2nd hand with 3 batteries, it is in new condition. I am very pleased with it, so easy to fly and awesome photos.
This drone is a beast love it👌👌 and thumbs up for the vid👍

I purchased the Mavic Air due to it being portable with fold away props and the 3 axis gimbal along with the ability to shoot 4K footage from the camera. Good all round piece if kit and thanks for the balanced review of the bird.

I have had the Mavic Air for 2 months now and I do like it. It is the first real drone I have owned, all the other ones were cheap kids toys. The 2 things that I can say I would like to see on the machine is 1. a camera that will zoom and 2. is side collision avoidance. The speed and handling of the Mavic Air is nice along with great camera features and image quality.
I agree 100 % with you. Also the Pano auto stich software is not really good. But i save the Pano Pictures on my drone and use Lightroom to create a Perfect RAW Pictures so this is not a problem for me anymore :)

Good solid review. I like the fact that you were mainly going over your thoughts and feelings about the drone instead of super tech stuff. I like the tech reviews, but this is important to me, because it's your "feelings" per se, about the gist of the drone. Good stuff, and I'm almost certainly changing my spark order to a Mavic Air order. I'm mainly worried about the earlier spark fly away's and drops, not being sure whether they've fixed them or not. From all the reviews and stuff, it just seems like the Air might be more reliable, except for maybe flying it in super interference areas, but it looks good to me, and of course the other features kind of seals the deal, I think. Marc Trainor. P.S. I just remembered that one guy on you tube put a 4 hawks antenna on his Air, and it shows him flying over all kinds of neighborhood and industrial looking area. I think he flew it out about 13000 feet or so, and claims the drop outs are way less or even gone, except when he's at the tail end of his flight, over two miles away. Sounds interesting!
Mine arrived in the mail today. I can't believe how well this thing operates at such a small size. I was able to snap a few sunset pictures and they look great. I plan on hitting up some real estate agents to take some aerial photos of houses they're selling. Just gotta be quick due to the limited 15 min battery use.

I just bought a Mavic Air today I’m testing it tomorrow when I go on vacation 😄
I have been watching many reviews on the Mavic Air to see if I should buy it and this afternoon I finally ordered it, can’t wait to start flying, before I was disappointed with the sparks size but thanks to a RUclipsr using the spark to reference how big the dji mavic is, I know how big it is and it’s actually better than I expected! I will look into the filters you mentioned earlier and try to see if I have the money to get it.
I agree with everything you said, especially about having an exposure wheel as hate having to adjust settings going through the menus 😠
I have found a thread comment that says; hold the top programmable function button on the remote down and roll (bump) the gimbal adjustment wheel from back and forth to change the EV values on the fly. It works for me. Hope it makes your flying more enjoyable!

I have had my MA for about 6 weeks now and agree with everything you said. Like you I have crashed twice but it survived both times ! I am still trying to find the best settings that suit my (limited) skills at flying ! Overall I am very happy with the MA both in video and surprisingly with photos :)

One of best drone mavic air
Very happy with my Mavic Air. The size and features make it the perfect drone for me. My first DJI drone was the Spark (still have it and love it) and this is a serious upgrade. Really enjoy your channel Mike. Thanks for the video. Happy flying!

my dad crashed the Inspire 1 into a creek by clipping a tree branch. I'm amazed to see your air recover mid-air twice! that thing's gotta be a juggernaut with the prop guards on!
This is the absolute best portable drone right now. It takes up such little space in my bag compared to when I traveled with the spark and especially that controller deisgn cuts down in wasted space! I don't really think the noise is that bad at all and don't think it really bothers anyone unless it is hovering quite low. Super glad I made this upgrade.

This is a good drone, at least from my point of view as a beginner on this area. I hear you said you upgraded from a Spark a well so I now really value your opinion regarding that upgrade. I agree with most of your thoughts but i have still some problems with signal issues that makes me nervous while flying
I have the Phantom 3 Advanced. It’s amazing, but much less portable even with a backpack. Size does give some benefits with winds and stability, but i’m very tempted to get this one for more casual flying.

Yes I almost crashed twice and my MAVIC Air recovered itself. It's a super great thing. I wish it will have sensors on the top and both sides.
I crashed once was when elevating and it hit the tree, there is no sensor on the top. and the second time was following subject and it hit the net on the side way.

As I was looking to upgrade my Hubsan 501s, I was looking at really getting a FPV racing drone, but this has made me think twice!
The video quality is quite spectacular, and it’s also feature rich. For all the reasons you’d pointed out and more, it now makes more sense to me too actually purchase this, but with a complete bundle as it has everything required and more.
I will still at some point in time purchase my FPV dream drone, but for right now, this makes me think I’ll be happy with this purchase for the foreseeable future...

I have a mavic Air... and i am hooked! Love the thing... however, I think that the designers have not thought the controller could be used by an iPhone X. The holders on the right side will cover the phone camera and the telephone gets either blocked or the screen is reduced in brightness (because the phone thinks it is in the darkness).
Just go to your settings and turn auto brightness OFF ;) You're welcome!

I purchased the Mavic Air for on the run shooting. It’s perfect. Now the Mavic 2 is out but I’ll stick to this into the Mavic 3 Pro is released. Or the next flagship drone.
Personnaly , I think the noise is a plus. If you loose VLOS it helps to find it again. Brilliant little drone. Fits in well with my others. I2, P4,and Parrot Anafi. All have their strengths and weakness’s . But I fly my Air most .
I can also confirm all your findings. If only DJI had put their knowledge of less noisy props (from Mavic Pro and now P4P 2) to this Drone. Great video!

I had so much thinking which drone to get.. because I have side business (video and photo) I didn't want lower quality.. so I did bounce between mavic pro 2 and air... I can say I am much happier with air , travel , easy , fit to my camera bag and high quality footage with polar pro! The best choice
Awesome review. I just got one and it's so much fun. It's my first drone so I don't have anything to compare it to but judging by the reviews I've seen the worst things about it are the little microSD slot and no small transmitter to enable followme so you have to use the remote... both things I can definitely live with. I'm still nervous af when I'm flying, max alt. set at 250m and distance at 500m so I'm stoked you're going out testing the limits by bumping into rocks above water. thanks bro
