Young360 if you are watching on a bigger screen and you actually use quality 4k, the difference is visible =) but, most of the people use their phones or tablets... so that’s ok.
I'd say today, most won't notice the difference, but what about in a couple of years as everybody's tech improves? To test, I just watched this on a sony phone that has a 4k oled screen and the difference was quite noticeable, even though on a regular phone it's npt that visible. More than just the resolution though, the Mini footage just seemed flatter. Perhaps the Air has better dynamic range or maybe the color processing is different between the two (or maybe your editing software handled them differently?? ).
Just the comparison I wanted to see. I'm leaning towards buying the Mavic Air because of the superior camera and obstacle avoidance. But, the longer flight time and reduced noise of the Mini make it worth considering. I really enjoyed the video today. Keep up the good work.
With all of the beautiful locations you visit and with your great editing, I would absolutely positively ask that you stick with the Air. Simply to ensure that your work is at the highest quality possible for as long as possible. Look at videos from 5+ years ago when we would say "nobody watches above 720p on their phone"... Today we notice easily. Future-proof your hard work. (Hey, actually you should start saving up for the Mavic Pro 3! 😂) Now, if you're traveling somewhere that only the Mini would be allowed, then of course, much better that than having 4k footage of the customs officer! 😂 Thanks for another great video! Forever Young!
Thanks for the comparison! You're right that there are a lot of additional features for the Air, but most people will never need/use them. I just wish the mm had front obstacle sensors
I love mine, finally got it 2 days ago, but only flew for a few hours, its amazing how long it stays in the air, I enjoyed this Young, you are a good presenter :-) thanks for posting
They are both great. Thanks for comparing the images of each! I think they both have great image quality under good conditions. I like the less noise and longer flight time of the mini.
Thank you, excellent comparison of the two drones. I have Mavic Air with Master Props Stealth which makes the Mavic Air less annoying sound wise. I love the camera.
actually your sound comparison of drones (any kind) is pretty deamn well done, accurate. thanks for that ;D cheers! btw. beautiful place where you live!! greets from cold - 4*C Poland ;D
Great comparison and wow what a beautiful location. You so lucky. I bought a DJI mini but the battery was faulty and I sent it back. Then I found a great deal on a Mavic Zoom and I couldn't be happier ☺️
Nice video keep it up !!!!!!! - I was watching this Mavic mini footage at youtube setting - 1440p which i believe 2k or 2.7k but i did notice that sharpness of video was missing some details / crispiness (trees leaves 1:38 + 1:48 ,sea water moment ) - on color side mavic mine produces more pleasing colors into the video . You created magic taking footage of 2.7k and rendering completely to 4k hats off!!!!!!!!!!
Cool magic trick at the beginning! While my heart sank when you mentioned selling the MA, I must admit that if the MM had come out first, that's the one I would have gotten. The price is right and the features are sufficient for a casual user.
Hello from South Africa, Thanks for the great video, the location is breathtaking and I think both drones have its own good and bad points, best to keep both, all the best to you in 2020.
Hi there, I own Mavic Air AND now the Mavic Mini I have solved the Mavic Air noise issue with using Master Airscrew Propellors but Mavic Mini is still much quieter I have solved my range issue by having a second controller fitted with 4Hawks Range Extender which can get me out to 5km before battery life forces me to return home. I love Mavic Air because it is a much smarter drone with a far better camera system. Mavic Air is stronger when it comes to dealing with high winds and faster too which is very important when chasing steam trains, ships or people on bikes etc. Mavic Mini is fantastically quick and easy to use and the drone I will ALWAYS carry in my car glove box. I'm going to keep BOTH drones and hope that oneday they update Mavic Air or I will jump to Mavic3
Awesome video! Mavic Mini will be my first drone and probably my only drone unless I decide to go FPV flying. Stay classy! Great things will be coming your way.
Very good video, helpful. I own both and think they both have their own niche to fill with respect to useability. I am very impressed with how well the mini flys though, I can see flying it in areas where the other drones would stay in the bag, and glad it is not as noisy, which was a big concern I had. Thanks
Thank you again for such a great and very useful video. Your style is so very good and you can explain things to people of all abilities including myself which is a feat as I am at the ower end of the inteligence scale. Im days away from making my purchase and airing on the side of the mavic mini for both price and portability I just wish I could buy the combo pack before I leave the USA for my next stop but dont think it will be available in time.
Your first comparison was enough to make me decide. The fact that a drone can disturb others is very important to me so I would almost always prefer a quite one. Longer flight time, less weight to carry and 1/3 of the price are too many nails on the Mavic Air's coffin. The better camera is not even that of a good thing to me since my computer can't handle 4k footage that well. Thank you for the review
Nice video Young. Thanks. I have ordered the Mini and the reason was the weight under 250gr, the low noise is a plus. I can live without sensors but I regret the Mini hasn't manual controls on video mode. As it has on photo mode it would only require a firmware update to enable it on video mode.
I don't speak much English but I try to understand you and learn from your videos. I just bought a mavic mini I am waiting for it to arrive. Greetings from Colombia.
Hi Young, I’ve started using my Mavic Mini to copy some of your cinematic shots. Not big on quick shots, but I enjoy flying between and or close to obstacles. Thanks and stay safe.
Very nice comparison, thanks. Both birds are impressibe, I think the 2.7K images are as good as the 4K images, for my purpose. You make some lovely videos, I hope to do the same with my birds, both Mini and Air, arriving soon.
For me it would be the mini. Many reviews of the air show poor range, as yours did in this clip. I use a spark at the moment, and am happy with it. Maybe a crimbo pressie?
Nice comparison! Be careful with those insufficient power warnings over water especially in Sport mode. I lost my Mini when I got that error and it landed in the water. Fortunately got it back and DJI repaired it for free. Lots of others have had this issue.
They are both amazing in their own way. If I'm ever ready to spend the $900 on the air, I feel like that 3d, round earth video is why I would buy it, that was amazing!
It is a good problem/decision to have when you vacation so much. :) I'm guessing some of the other shot types will be added via software updates. Im probably going to get the Mini because I'm only an enthusiast and will only use it occasionally on travel.
Great video comparison. I don’t own the Air but so far I love flying the Mini. Definitely the Air offers more pro features but for the price, size, and weight the Mini is the best drone money can buy. I’m curious what DJI will bring next. A Mavic Air with more battery life and ocusync would be nice. I wouldn’t want a drone bigger than that.
Interesting and very useful comparison, I think overall the Mavic Mini offers some better features, such as longer flight time and more range at the expense of less video features and 2.7k rather than 4k! The huge difference in price, for me doesn't justify getting the Air, I just got my Mavic Mini today. 😎👍 Young, is yours the FCC or CE version, I noticed you got just over 1km range on the Mavic Mini, is that around it's max range? 🤔⚠️
My opinion, as a multi drone flyer/user from the UK, the best drone for recreational use is the Mavic mini, reasons in no particular order - 1. Cost, it’s around half the price as the Mavic air (although there are some good deals around for the Mavic air after the new regulations came in on January 1st 2021) but still with the deals the mini is significantly lower in price 2. New flight regulations, as it’s a sub 250g drone, you can fly it almost anywhere keeping within the distance laws and restricted airspace laws, with the Mavic air you’re limited to where you can fly ie parks beach’s urban areas 3, camera, the specs on the Mavic air are better on paper but, if you’re not a professional cinematographer you will not really see any difference in the footage between 2.7K and 4K and if you’re not a professional photographer who needs to use raw photos to manipulate ( which you won’t be as it’s a recreational drone not a “professional” drone) the photo capabilities are great. 4, quick shots and preset modes, with the aid of the litchi app, the mini can do exactly the same as the Mavic air including active track (follow me mode) a lot more than with the dji fly app. 5, range, Mavic mini has a range of around 2.5miles, the same as the Mavic air, both can reach distances of around 4 miles within open space and with added range extenders ( but why you would want to fly that far away is beyond me) so it isn’t beaten on distance by the Mavic air making it no better or no worse. 6. Flight time, the Mavic mini has around 28 - 30 mins whereas the Mavic air has only around 18 - 20 mins, so if you buy the fly more combo which gives you 3 batteries for either, you have around 1hour and 30 mins max flight time with the mini and around 1 hour max flight time with the Mavic air without having to charge the battery’s. Having weighed up everything that matters then it clearly shows the Mavic mini is the best recreational drone out the two.
Hi Young, I'm from Brazil and I'm really in doubt about which of these 2 drones should I buy. In your opinion, which one has the best signal or fails less?
Great video. I would get the Mavic Mini for the quietness alone. Although I have the original Mavic Pro with the low noise props and it is quieter than my Spark and Much quieter than my Phantom 3 Pro. Beautiful Young, you live close to a beautiful beach. 😘
I had Air but I will get the mini... I think both drone enough for me to have fun but I really want go to where ever you shot, it’s beautiful beautiful places....
I would pick the mini, because it’s so small. I’ve been though, 5 Mavics 😂 But excited for the Pro 3 to come out. Thanks for the video, Young, Stay Awesome, Belus
The mavic mini is the perfect little buddy for my Autel Evo. I have owned and flown almost all Dji drones since the phantom 3. The mavic mini is just as stable in the air as all the other more expensive Dji drones. I never use the obstacle sensors on my other drones so this is not an issue on the mini for me. The camera is awesome and the flight time is rediculus 👌👍
Thank you so much, you helped me a lot in this comparison. The Air will be the one I need as a backpack and tool always in my toolbox drone because of the picture that is s big thing for me. Also I like dancing so the calibration dance is no problem for me :)
I keep going back to my old Mavic Pro. Seriously. It's a tank, still the best footage (Mavic 2 is a bit better) but no issues over two years and literally hundreds of miles on it.
Yes the mavic mini is ok as the camera is not as good as my mavic air or it is not as strong either whwn it returns home the problem if it has no feont sensors witch means if a bird gets in the wat its gonna crash or without those sensors or a better camera. Gotta have that 4k camera
If I did not already own a Mavic Air, I would probably go for the Mavic Mini. It is a pity it does not support bracketing but maybe in a future firmware update?
Hi, only just discovered your channel, but I'm loving the content. I am in exactly this "choice" situation at the moment, Mini or AIR. Although its more expensive I am leaning toward the AIR because of the thing you were having problems with, the signal. The Mini doesn't have GLONASS so I have seen many videos talking about wifi signal issues. I also like that the AIR has object avoidance as well as the slightly better camera. Does it really (the AIR) only have a 21 minute flight time? Regardless I am going to look for a deal that features the "fly more" package.
Here in europe mavic mini comes only with CE model which has weaker signal in comparison to the FCC model. The mavic air comes with only one version so you can always have FCC mode with fake gps app. That's why I am thinking getting the mavic air
It's not just the resolution between 4k/2.7k but the fps is also other point for consider. I may suggest you get MP2 as give you more firm feeling. (also pro)
I’m going to keep my Magic Air but I am really looking forward to getting the mini. The reduced noise is a big plus. I have always had good signal strength with my Air. Maybe because of where I fly. Great video!👍
Thank You Young forr testen the drones, i,ll think im going for the Mavic mini that i,am going to buy. i always fly race drones so i have to lurn to fly the Mavic like a bigner. greeting from Amsterdam.
As for the noise of the Mavic Air if you change the props to something like the Master Air Screw props it's not as bad. I thin slow motion is probably the biggest selling point of the Mavic Air. I had forgotten about that part and seeing your video makes me want to use more slow mo.
Hi young 360, nice video taken in Malaysia, have some questions to ask you, which app or software you use for edit the hyperlapse photo? Normally you shoot in 2seconds interval or 3seconds. Thank you :)
I just piled the photos in my video editor. Powerdirector16. i guess interval depends on what i am filming...if things move fast, then 2 seconds, if not, less
Jose, just so you know, Mini doesn't have "any" extras helping you fly as a beginner, like Mavic Air. Don't get me wrong, Mini is still good for it's weight, but that's all it has. Plus, you can now get a lot quieter propellers for MA from Master Airscrew website, that makes you fly with less noise than the Mini.
I really like your videos. Like the most people, I watch this videos on my iPad or my 27" ! iMac. Even there, the difference between 2.7k and 4k or 40 Mbit`s vs 100 Mbit`s is not that a big difference. I like the footage straight out of the mini. The longer batterie life, less noisy, better Wifi connectivity and portability is a reason for me to decide to get a Mini.....;)
I wouldn't spend so much more on the Mavic Air when the Mavic Mini can perform so well and also it is under the weight required for registration by the UK CAA.
Roger that! the weight is a huge issue. FAA can kiss my behind if they think I am going to register a Mavic Air... I'll just buy the mini and they can stuff their fascist rules - that is what all consumers should say.
Watched on a 4k monitor. Still, there's a difference but not strong. I don't know why Mavic Air look in this and other comparison videos less attractive than Mavic Mini. Kinda blurry and with less contrast. It's suppposed that Mavic Air has 100Mbps while Mavic Mini has 40Mbps in best scenarios. Great review Young360!
CE version. i would ensure it is 5.8Ghz. then it is usually fine till 500m (which is the max for CE version). but if it is super crowded place, then it has issue at 1~200m...
Great video Young. You make the Mavic Mini look very impressive and very tempting to buy. I am going to stick with my Mavic Air for the camera quality, and other features but the mini is so tempting :) . Do you have any experience with noise canceling propellors for Mavic Air?
as always a good, nice and at times funny video.... what a pity that this bikini shot of you was so far away LOL. Take care! I fly the Mavic 2 Pro and the Phantom 4 Pro but always look at your videos haha. Ciao!
The more I see the video.... I feel like for youtube purpose, 4k/2.7k doesn't show much difference... what do you guys think? 👀🤔
Young360 if you are watching on a bigger screen and you actually use quality 4k, the difference is visible =) but, most of the people use their phones or tablets... so that’s ok.

Great and fun video Ms Young. Keep them coming.
Mitch in Marysville WA
They are both great. Thanks for comparing the images of each! I think they both have great image quality under good conditions. I like the less noise and longer flight time of the mini.
You sold me on the Mini....Lower noise level and almost as good quality video are winning features. Nice video, Young...thanks for posting.
Once again so happy to see you and enjoy one more helpful video about the Mavic mini, I love your feet... ✌🏻😎
Thank you, excellent comparison of the two drones. I have Mavic Air with Master Props Stealth which makes the Mavic Air less annoying sound wise. I love the camera.
Thanks! I waiting for this video! 😍

More Mavic Mini videos needed!👏👏
I think I go for the Air, with other Props, and I‘m missing active track at the Mini

Calibration dance? Maybe that could be part of your next video! 😁
Great video!
I had Air but I will get the mini... I think both drone enough for me to have fun but I really want go to where ever you shot, it’s beautiful beautiful places....
I have the Mavic Pro but really like the looks of this new small one
You shot my hometown so beautiful!
Penang is awesome!
I would pick the mini, because it’s so small. I’ve been though, 5 Mavics 😂 But excited for the Pro 3 to come out. Thanks for the video, Young, Stay Awesome, Belus
Do you have a mavic air keen give me one red color please

is it a lot more calibration required for the air than for mini?
in my experience, yes...
Awsome !!
Thank you for this good video, i like the mini.
I keep going back to my old Mavic Pro. Seriously. It's a tank, still the best footage (Mavic 2 is a bit better) but no issues over two years and literally hundreds of miles on it.
Nice video, may get the mini.
I have the mavic 2 zoom, but I really like the new mavic mini. You can save alot of money and still have fun!
I just bought mavic air last week.. n really love flying it n shoot videos and photos. 😍😍
awesome. enjoy!
I'm waiting for this comparison since the mavic mini releasing date.
Yes the mavic mini is ok as the camera is not as good as my mavic air or it is not as strong either whwn it returns home the problem if it has no feont sensors witch means if a bird gets in the wat its gonna crash or without those sensors or a better camera. Gotta have that 4k camera

Beautiful review of the location with the Drones, do you request for free accommodation?😝
Here in europe mavic mini comes only with CE model which has weaker signal in comparison to the FCC model. The mavic air comes with only one version so you can always have FCC mode with fake gps app. That's why I am thinking getting the mavic air
Ah the ultimate battle!!
Great video!👍
do you mean picture noise? is it lower on the mini? on higher ISOs?
The pitch of the props is lower then my Mavic Air. The Air sounds like a nest of hornets.
Please looking foward in a update on the 2 great video
Thank You Young forr testen the drones, i,ll think im going for the Mavic mini that i,am going to buy. i always fly race drones so i have to lurn to fly the Mavic like a bigner. greeting from Amsterdam.
How much does the flight time matter in your opinion? Does it bother you much now that the air has significantly lower flight time?
@@Young360 thank you so much.
Brilliant
Very nice video 😉👏 I'm still not sure which mavic I will buy, but I really like the Mavic Mini , thank you for this video 👏👏
if first drone, even if you get Mini, you will love it. I do find Mini more convenient
Awesome 🥰
I wouldn't spend so much more on the Mavic Air when the Mavic Mini can perform so well and also it is under the weight required for registration by the UK CAA.
Roger that! the weight is a huge issue. FAA can kiss my behind if they think I am going to register a Mavic Air... I'll just buy the mini and they can stuff their fascist rules - that is what all consumers should say.
At 7:18 so now we can do more on video mode?
Watched on a 4k monitor. Still, there's a difference but not strong. I don't know why Mavic Air look in this and other comparison videos less attractive than Mavic Mini. Kinda blurry and with less contrast. It's suppposed that Mavic Air has 100Mbps while Mavic Mini has 40Mbps in best scenarios.
Great review Young360!
"Mavic Air look in this and other comparison videos less attractive than AIR"?
@@GaXiTin than mavic mini I meant
Tanks you young, 😁
Hi.Young!I'm Jae hyuk choi again.where did you fly the Mavic mini for.?so if you have the time let's have fly with you.cause I have Mevic air.
Ho, great review but I have a question about mavic mini. Is your version CE version? If so, how does it handle in urban areas.
CE version. i would ensure it is 5.8Ghz. then it is usually fine till 500m (which is the max for CE version). but if it is super crowded place, then it has issue at 1~200m...
@@Young360 How does 2.4Ghz perform in open spaces
Great video Young. You make the Mavic Mini look very impressive and very tempting to buy. I am going to stick with my Mavic Air for the camera quality, and other features but the mini is so tempting :) . Do you have any experience with noise canceling propellors for Mavic Air?
nah, i havent bought it
as always a good, nice and at times funny video.... what a pity that this bikini shot of you was so far away LOL. Take care! I fly the Mavic 2 Pro and the Phantom 4 Pro but always look at your videos haha. Ciao!
it is good it was far away 🤣
Hi nice review thank you. Mick.
Hi Yong,
Great comparison!!!
What's the average distance do you get with the Mavic Air before losing the connection with the remote?
depends..max i got was 1100m
