    I've started my locs like a few weeks ago and before that I had already planned about how I would do this, when to start etc. But all the time I was thinking yeah I do this properly, I just let them loc up and get neglect dreads , definedly not barbershop dreads but last few days I've been worrying if it goes wrong, what if my hair is too short to start, what if they look shitty or get mole or something, but this video gave me confidence it's gonna be alright. I started to thi k about getting them locked in a barbershop but now I know what I'm gonna do. Thanks for this video🤘

    doing this because im tired of wasting money on haircare and breaking brushes, idk if my hair is too thick, or i dont know my own strength, but ive broken 3 new brushes this month alone, i dont want them done simply because of aphasia as well, ive heard that doing this is a great way to avoid breakage and scalp tugging with minimal effort, its no wonder hair naturally does this, and its no wonder men in tribes towards the equator embrace it, and let them get as long as possible. im so ready!

    I was going to "get dreads done" before i learned about freeforming.
    I was scared to get them done because i was not sure that the technician would make them look the way i wanted.
    I researched how to get the look i wanted and it turns out that the look I'm after IS freeform ❤ so now its been 9 days since stopping brushing and my hair is started to group into tendrils.
    The only thing i do now is palm roll the tendrils when i have the urge to brush, and i often twist my hair up into a bun which seems to be helping the tendrils twist individually 🎉 and it already is starting to look like so much fun!!
    Thanks for the encouragement to embrace the jpurney!! 😊

    I started my dreads by rip and pull separated them. Now 3 months in all I do is wash my hair and separate them. They look loopy and flat but I’m just leaving them letting them do their thing. I really like the loopy crooked one the most. They are my favorite. My roots are definitely dreading and fusing more than I would like. I wanted dreads since I was a teen and now 32 years old nothing can stop me.

    Hi Jack, just found your channel. Nice to hear a northerner with free form dreads. I've been on my journey with what I call "whatever hair" for a year and half now since I last had it brushed out. I do have two big dreads on the top of my scalp which aren't so bad at the moment, try keep them separate from expanding. Got a baby one at the back and a new one forming at the front which I've learnt to tend to fairly frequently to make sure it keeps relatively thin. My hair was last cut as an inverted bob (short at the back & long at the front).
    If my two big dreads on top were to get to be a problem, is it possible to separate them later down the line do you know? I do intend on letting it do it's thing with the learnt lesson of separating the hairs occasionally.

    Yours is the best set of freeform locs I’ve ever seen! I’d love to do it, but I want them to be a little neater. But if I knew they’d turn out like yours, I might do it!
    Question: how long did it take for them to separate into individual locs? Many weeks? Months? A year?

    • @JackGashRawandUncut
      @JackGashRawandUncut  Год назад +3

      I started noticing my first few locs about 1 year in. I have to say I have separated what felt comfortable rather than big knots of hair just clumping together. If you check out my earlier videos you'll get a better picture of what's to come

      Aw thank you I appreciate that. It's truly been a freeing experience but I can't lie I do miss my long hair. My hair was almost to my waist and it all got sucked up into the dreads so I have some really thick ones in the back It's hard to show. They're spiritual to me and I've really gone through some changes. I usually have my hair up and back and wear a lot of headbands because I don't really like when random people come up asking me questions about them because .."you're white why do you have dreadlocks" and in the last year I can say I haven't even been in photos really so I don't have a record of my dreads forming like you have made here on youtube. Maybe I'm too sensitive but I hate being labeled as just a white girl because my mom's side of the family is native american. It erases half of my identity to even get pulled into the white people/dreadlock conversation. Hair is hair.

    Hi mate, now i reached a period of one year growth and I am on my natural journey,,I don’t use shampoos even before because my hair is thin and I don’t like to make it super thin after washing it with shampoo, but after reaching a certain length and washing with only water is building more oil in my scalp and it’s itchy as well, so I started using lush bar soap thinking it will be working and I really hated it because it’s all made with sulphates and other chemicals, so I ordered Dr Bronner’s pure Castile pepper mint bar soap and am very eager to use it.What’s your opinion about the Dr Bronner’s soap when forming free form dreads?

      Lice don't happen because you have dirty hair. You need to get in contact with them to catch them and if anything, they like clean hair better. Lice are insects that are caught by contact. They can't fly.

      From my experience, you can wash them everyday. Although I can't see why you would unless you were washing your hair and scalp everyday before freeforming. To let your hair, but especially your scalp, get used to getting washed less often, you could, or should, wash when needed and gradually wash less often.
      Used to wash twice a day (with shampoo) before freeforming; 2 years into freeforming I'm washing 2/3 times a week.
