      Hey Kristine! I'm sorry to hear that. Your best bet is to call Xactware support at 800-710-9228. Good luck!

    I could be wrong but it seems like it runs faster. For instance when I reorder lines there is less of a pause. Seconds add up to minutes add up to hours add up to $$$. You are a great resource and I highly recommend your course!!!

    Just found out that there's no report editor available in X1 either - RIDICULOUS! I'm downgrading back to 28 this week.

      Did you go back to X28? Are you doing more video on X1 to highlighting what they left out or any new features that you have found in X1?

    • @EstimateMastery
      @EstimateMastery  6 лет назад

      Great questions Carlos - I'm trying to migrate back, but I keep getting too busy to take the time to do so as it will take an hour or two for tech support to get me downgrading back.
      The only update I have on X1 is that it's clunky, crashes on me more often than v28 and is slower than the old version. I have found that XactAnalysis has some serious issues and have been advising that users do not upgrade at this point in time as it's just not ready.
      I'll definitely create a video in the future when X1 is ready and upgrading is a positive instead of a negative.

      XM8 Mastery Were you able to go back to X28? My company just "upgraded" to X1 this week and by reading everything above it sounds like it is not any better yet. We were told we would not be able to go back to X28 after the change. Thanks

    I have a surface, and i was a demo tester, the X1 ran better than my 28 install. I just upgraded, so we will see how this runs...jury still out on it.

      SLOW...Just for info, I have a Surface pro 3 with an i5 processor clocking at 2.59 GHz, with 8 GB Ram and a 256GB SSD. The motherboard has a built in graphics card that is supposed to be Compatible. I can run Startrek Online and DC Universe on this thing, but it lags when I try to use Xactimate. Even though DCEU is over 25 Gigs in size.
      So there you go. I would not recomend this PC for this software. Get a gaming PC...

    • @EstimateMastery

      It hasn't worked well on any computer as of yet and I'm not recommending it at this time....sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

    I started using it a few months ago and am pretty impressed with the thought process behind it. Xactware says it will be rolling out changes to the estimating side of X1 slowly giving people time to adjust to the new version rather than throwing us all to the wolves so to speak. We've been kicking around the idea of 2 in 1 laptops vs iPad and I've been experimenting with both for a while now and with the ability to log in from any desktop I like the option of the iPad in the field with the backing of the desktop's we already own. Plus the Apple Pencil/iPad Pro combo with the Logitech Slim Keyboard Case is amazing! The Surface Tablets would be a great solution but with the price point of new equipment It's not totally feasible for us at this time. Oh and the cloud backup has already saved my bacon. Testing a Lenovo 2 in 1 a couple weeks ago the SSD decided to die. Logged back in to the desktop and BAM... everything was still there. No more calling Xactware to transfer a license to another machine!

    What about tasks like adding documents to the supplement and other things that aren't exactly intuitive to inexperienced users. Are some of those processes any easier?

  • @chrisapex541

    "X1" isnt a new version of Xactimate; it's a new splash screen and opening menu. Everything else is nearly identical. Surprising they'd call this a "new version". Once again, no new options for power users; no practical, frequently-used type improvements or betterments. It's the same ol same ol. Each time I install it I pray to get a new sketch layout, maybe less lag, less click-delays, more efficient menus.... but, no. They seem to be focusing their attention on cloud-based dynamics and less with the actual meat of the program itself and the user interface.

    Hi Alena! Long time no see ;) I've been using X1 since beta... as a power user I'm very disappointed the application crashes are less (for the most part still crashes 2-5 times a day) but the system lag is ridiculous!! Yes it looks pretty and the main sketch window (where you work) is so broken. Tons of missing features! I was wondering what your thoughts are??? This still feels like a beta application that I pay for in a production environment. If it wasn't the company paying for my X1 I would have gone back to 28 months ago!

    • @EstimateMastery

      You've hit the nail on the head Tim! I agree that it feels like a beta version that did not have all the kinks worked out but was released anyways. I have had it crash on me 4 times today just trying to train people in my courses....sheesh! I'm hoping they'll keep rolling out patches for all of the glitches, but I feel bad for anyone having to use this on a daily basis to write estimates....sorry you can't roll back to 28 for now!

      @@EstimateMastery HAHAHA I had a great reply, but I changed the song I was listen too... Simply it comes down to X1 will soon be a forced migration, so just suck it up and deal with their monthly re-installs... I've only had 5 patches roll out and work as intended. It's like the programers don't use the program at all! Test your changes and make sure it's fast and stable before rolling it out!!! I have a beast of a gaming computer and it should be able to handle one application! I can run 3 games at the same time why is this so hard? I have passed the second level cert if I can pass 2 should I have to worry about 3?

    • @EstimateMastery
      @EstimateMastery  5 лет назад

      Level 3 gives you the "expert witness" credentials so that if you have to legally represent your estimate for whatever reason, you have that designation. I'm hosting a Level 3 training next Mon - Wed here in Salt Lake City....you should come and get the last level of Cert!

      @@EstimateMastery X? (my abv. for xactware) doesn't really tell you what to study up on for their tests or provide practice tests as comparatives to see if you are even ready. I don't want to pay for their book because I think it would just be a waste of money like their online "training". I learned more watching youtube then their bs courses... All the more reason you have job security!!! All they have to do it keep up their stellar performance and you will have tons of clients... hehehhe

    Extremely PO'd that Xactware didn't go back to less-graphical interface, as we've seen with X25-X27. X28, IMO was a massive step BACKWARDS due to the severe lag and system instability that is prevalent across system platforms. Where X25-27 was like a ferrari, X28 and X1 is like a school bus. For power users, used to entering line items extremely rapidly, and cutting-pasting frequently, this is a huge disappointment.

    • @EstimateMastery

      I really do miss the X25&X27 days....*sigh. I was hoping they'd do something to upgrade the estimating portion, but instead shut down a bunch of features that I've learned about since I made this vid. No good!

      Sometimes I wonder about their engineers... I've attempted to install Xactimate on some advanced systems... Hexa-core, 32GB RAM, water-cooled, GTX 1080Ti Gfx card, 2300Ghz RAM with NAND Flash SSD's... and on every single system, it runs like hell. Cutting, pasting, intra-system navigation, all sluggishly, hair-pullingly slow. I do anywhere from 3-4 estimates daily, ON-SITE with my laptop (quad-core cutting edge ultrabook) and many times my keystrokes will far outpace Xactimate's processing, where I need to wait 3-5 seconds before I can continue (as I need to let it catch up). It's insanely ridiculous, the coding in SQL must be horrendous. They should really optimize it somehow. Its an incredible program, and I make a good living with it, but theres no excuse for the way it performs on PC's.

      Thanks for the feedback David - will try to get to the meat and potatoes a bit quicker in the future. X1 is basically a new Dashboard with XM8 28 behind it, so there wasn't too much to demonstrate on this one.
