    I don’t always get to sit down a view your videos, but they really help out a lot.
    I’m working in Houston from hurricane beryl and just got a large repair scope to do.
    The garage and rear extension coming off the main dwelling were demolished by two trees.
    I sketched all my rooms and exteriors on one level, all the framing is showing up on one line, not each individual sketch.
    So do I need to open new levels and move the sketches to it’s own individual level.
    Thanks again, Raul

    Nice video! Good questions from other subscribers regarding round and curved walls, framing labor and bearing vs. non-loading walls. Great job Alena, quickly responding and addressing those questions with new and/or updated videos.Keep up the good work!

    Great job as always! I think that you have to change the parameters to "bearing walls" in order for the headers to show up in your lumber list. The drop down will give you options for what kind of header to choose. I find myself referring to your vids often. Again, Great job!

      Thanks very much for your kind words Jim! I appreciate you :)
      I believe you're right...I didn't think about the bearing walls option. There are so many "hidden" preferences that I forget all of the options available to us estimators.
      Keep up the good work and I thank you for the info!

    Another wonderful video. This is another awesome way to save time on estimates. Do you know how to assign the framing created to a specific folder? For instance I have a structure with two roofs. The file structure looks like this:
    Roof
    Roof 1
    Roof 2
    The framing appears within the main Roof folder which sits on top of my Roof 1 and Roof 2 folders, but I really need to move it specifically the Roof 2 sub-folder. I tried to cut and copy them, but they are very resistant to doing this and stay lodged underneath the main Roof folder. Any suggestions on how to do this?

      Thanks man!
      Unfortunately, as I understand it, any line items added to the level in Sketch will reside in the parent folder and cannot be moved. So, if you add something in the Main Level of the Sketch, whether it be in the Living Room, Bedroom, etc, it will still stay in the Main Level folder. Sounds like you're encountering the same thing with the Roof folder too - I've checked with tech support on this issue and they have told me that it must reside in the parent folder. You might want to check with them again, just to be sure that they haven't changed something in a recent update.

    Great video as usual. What if you want only a portion of one wall in a room framed? Does this method still work? I can't seem to select a portion of a wall. It seems to be the whole wall or nothing.

      Great question! As I understand it, the whole wall needs to be framed or not framed. If you only want part of a wall, I would just Sketch a random wall outside of the floorplan according to the dimensions needed and framed just the wall outside of the floorplan.

    These videos have been very helpful as I learn this sometimes frustrating program (coming with 30+ years of experience with Autocad). Since I am using underlays to create my Xactimate sketches (B&W), is there a way to change the wall line color (e.g. red) so the they show up better against the underlay? Thanks for any help.

    Following completion of the wall framing as described, how do those selections from sketch look in the grouping tree for that room? I have had problems in the past getting the framing items, roof or wall via sketch, to appear in the tree folders for that room. Thanks for any input. Great videos by the way!

      Good question - most line items that are added in Sketch are in a purple font to denote that they came in from the Sketch. Also, a lot of the time, items such as framing added in Sketch will fall into the "Main Level" or "Roof" main folders on the grouping tree instead of falling into the sub folder of a room or roof like you would think. Check those main folders and look for the purple font to see where the framing members & items are being placed.
      Thanks for the feedback on my videos - I appreciate you watching!!

      I'm having the same issue, and can't seem to find a work around to get those framing members inside the correct grouping tree. I cannot copy and paste, or drop and drag them into the correct sub folder. Any suggestions? Thank you! Love your videos!

      It's tough as it seems to want to drop all of the framing members into the Main Level on the Grouping Tree....is this what you're encountering?

    • @blackberryvp
      @blackberryvp 6 лет назад

      XM8 Mastery Yes. Xactware says there is no way to move them to the grouping that I would like. I need to line by line retype them in my grouping.

    Hello - I have a commercial building that needs metal framing, is there a way to use auto framing with metal framing?

    • @EstimateMastery
      @EstimateMastery  3 года назад

      Great questions Jonathan! As far as I know, there isn't an option for metal at this time, but I would take the pick list that Sketch creates for lumber to the metal manufacturer and see if they can translate into metal. As far as the estimating portion, you would need to search under the metal framing line items to find similar material in metal. Hope that's helpful!

    Is there an option in the framing properties for metal studs?

    • @EstimateMastery
      @EstimateMastery  2 года назад

      Yes there is metal studding in Xactimate. If you look under the Drywall category you will find some options! Have a great one!
