- Xactimate is not at all intuitive when it comes to adding closets, sub rooms or a pantry to your Sketch. It seems like you should be able to grab a room from the Room tool and add it inside of an existing room, but that is not the case.
In this video I talk again about my favorite tool: Square Break. This tool is the simplest and easiest way to quickly create rooms inside of rooms in Sketch. I also give you a couple of other time-saving tips in this video.

Unlike many people, you making it easy to understand. Thanks so much.
Your channel have saved me so many times! Thank you for all you do!
You are so welcome! I love hearing that my videos are helpful. :)
Thank you so much! I was losing my mind
Do you have a method to draw a room with a cathedral ceiling?
You would need to go into the properties of the room, and change the ceiling type from Box to Peaked.
Say you're dealing with a sloped ceiling, how do you carry the ceiling lines over into the new room/closet?
You could copy + paste the prior room over and change the ceiling properties, if that makes sense? May need some clarification on your question :)
Don Cunningham I am currently using xactmobile and it’s been giving me continuous ceilings if I add a subroom
Apparently I've been trying to figure this out for 4 years
Should we not make the closet and/or pantry a subgroup of the room they're already in? Wouldn't that make things easier down the road for scope or estimating?
You absolutely should make the closet or pantry a subroom when creating the rooms - I just don't like to put too much info into my videos as people start to get overwhelmed. Good point for those that are advanced and know about subrooms!
Awesome. Thank you for the quick reply!
Your videos are awesome, by the way. Nice to be able to learn as quickly or as slowly as I want, just with pause and fast forward.
Thanks for the kind words! I appreciate you watching ;)
Sweet!!!
i have a request any way you can make a round room i just cant figure it out
You must sq break the wall and create a "pop out", then click on the properties of the wall on the outside of that pop out and choose "Arced Wall - Yes". You have to sq break and pop out all 4 walls if you want to create a perfect circle. I include training such as this in my online courses that I've created. Take a look at: www.xm8mastery.com
XM8 Mastery ya but can you make a video on it ???? i know its alot too ask
Ok what short cut key did you use to do the break?
"B" for break! :D
fantastic
Thank you so much 😀
Good grief the shortcuts I don't know. Thank you!
I hope it was helpful!
Wow thanks you save me. !!!!Gracias
Thanks for letting me know - I appreciate YOU!!
Thanks I have been fighting with that feature. Now how do I create and open doorway from room to room?
it keeps putting a break in the wall
Would you mind being more specific?
