  • In this video I am making pair of skis as a 60th birthday gift. This method doesn't require any ski press.
    Graphics are designed by me and made out of wood veneer using laser cutter.

    great video. beautiful workmanship. ive made a pair myself with vacuum but had a mold. how did you create the camber/ rocker profile? this is something i would try to do for next pair.

      Hi Alex! Glad you like it. The ski was built on top of 1 mm thick steel plate. The layup is put under vacuum and after that I place wooden blocks under the tip, center and tail to lift the steel plate to create the ski profile. At 6:52 you can see the clamps I made to keep the ski down from front and rear to allow for bending. If you want to know more, I could post some other pictures of this method.

      @@alexm594 The skis work great, I made another similar pair for myself. I've used them in the Italian alps and Lyngsalpen in Norway and they perform great. I will try to make separate video of my manufacturing system.

    Hey love this do you dry the core wood like you would a bow stave?

    • @Winha277
      @Winha277  11 месяцев назад

      Thank you! The wood had been stored indoor for long time, no other drying.

    Maybe a little late but what glue is that? Would love to do this but hard to find reliable resources on the glues people use

      It is epoxy resin, this particular resin is from Easycomposites but you could use basically any laminating epoxy resin that is available for you locally.

      @@taneliheikkila8276 Always wonder about that bc id think straight epoxy might delaminate but ig makes sense, thanks homie

    How did you get the pattern on the CNC?

      I am an mechanical engineer by trade and 3D modeled the ski and made the G code myself. I used HSM works CAM software.
