Thanks for the comment. I will need to research that for my next pair of skis. I have seen old paintings with the carving on the top side and also on the bottom. Bergslien’s painting with two skiers from 1869 shows the carvings on top on one pair of skis and on the bottom on the other pair of skis. Then again, he was a painter not a ski maker. I rewatched the video of Olav Aasmundtveit making skis, and his carving is on the bottom as you say. Thanks for the note. Cheers.
These are beautiful! For kick does the ski function like a waxed classic ski where you apply glide wax front and tail with kick wax in the middle or is it more similar to a skate ski for pushing off?
wow, this is a very well put together video, and very beautiful skis!
This is the best turtorial I have ever seen on this...thank you! I have a couple pairs of skis to make and this is awesome!

Hi! These skis function like a exes classic ski with glide wax and kick wax; not like skating skis. Peace! -Jason
Historically Your ocean is upside down.
Do you put pine tar on bottom
Hi! Yes , I use pine tar, and then I also use wax on the bottoms. -Jason
