One of my favorite parts of dam building: seeing the overflow and pipes being put in. You do such awesome work, Chris. It's a joy to watch. Thanks for sharing.
Ive been watching Chris' channel for about 1.5yrs now.. I sit in my recliner every night.. put my headphones on.. and just chill & relax 😊 Im retired now.. I drive a log truck for my younger brother just to have something to do everyday.. My brother also clears land, builds ponds too.. Ive told him to get some gopros & start a RUclips channel.. I can operate a Dozer, Skidder, Tree cutter, knuckleboom loader, & excavator too.. I enjoy watching these videos everytime Chris post one 😊
That stuff should be called "cland", "slay" or some such... seems like it's made up of sand mixed up with clay, which gives it that concrete-like consistency when packed in. Awesome video as always!
Well done Chris, that clay looked like it compacted great, the box and pipe is in, it`s cement and pack time, once again a job well done by an experienced dam builder, being done the right way.
Can you show a pic of the circular pond you built last year, it was basically round, with an island in the middle, below a large metal barndominium type building. Really curious how it turned out once it filled.
I really like watching Chris putting in the overflow structure and pipe then packing in the clay on each side. As well as the next episode with his doing the cement collar and finishing filling in the damn core.
I find it amazing the math and science of installing those huge drains!! Ive seen you do many of these on your videos!! If you have an off day which i know is few far and between, i would love for you to set up your transom and have you teach us the basics with elevation and show us where you make your decision on the depth that everthing has to be!! Maybe a video once a month or when ever, have shop talk with Chris!! I do see you as an awesome teacher and i definitely believe everybody else would love for you to have a shop class with Chris!! You are the man and by far the best Excavator Operator along side of Dirt Perfect which is another awesome Excavator Operator!! Thanks for the videos Chris, ive learned so much from these!!
It’s a transit- a transom is the back end of a boat.😊 it’s not hard- my hubby used to do surveying, and he taught me how, so i could do the pad for my greenhouse that was built two days ago. Builder gave me an A+ on the pad! I learned 90% of it from watching Chris!
Clay-sand mix. I have a layer of it on my farm. I have more clay in mine. It holds water if packed. I've made a clay-sand mix for metal casting. About the consistency of that stuff you're moving in the video @ 20:00
That is a killer overflow system!! Those let a lot of water come threw them !! Looking Good Chris, coming on along now, will be able to rock n roll here pretty quick now !! Great as Always Man, Have a Great Evening, And, On too the Next !!
Compaction, compaction, and more compaction, on both the dam and on the box and pipes, equals a successful dam build, of course the given is using the right type of dirt (soil), add an experienced contractor with well maintained equipment, and in the end you have a masterpiece of a controlled water retention pond, nicely done sir, enjoyed watching, that young man should be most pleased I would think. Thanks.
When i was a young fella.. my older brother & I would go w/ our Dad & his friends on a Saturday morning.. break huge beaver dams & let it drain off.. then we would use a seine & gather the fish.. usually hundreds of pounds!! We would fill burlap sacks FULL of fish.. couple of pickup truck beds fully loaded.. late Saturday afternoon we would start cleaning fish.. generally 8-10-12 folks would help us clean while our Mom & the other women would start w/ the first ones we cleaned & we would have a huge fish fry ! It would be LATE that night when we finished.. then divy up all the fish to be put in freezers! It was a lot of fun!
Don't go gettin your heart rate up now going over the edge. We need ya on the next vidya. Master of your craft with the experience and knowledge of a legend. Awesome work as always Chris.
You should have seen him operating equipment at the Las Vegas shows back several years ago? The guy can handle equipment, and that is why he is known throughout the RUclips community as the “Legend.” Although if my memory serves me well, back then he wore a cape or perhaps I’m confusing him with Dirt Perfect?
Chris You have the Sand Dam with a Clay Core to Stabilize, and to put the Perfect Overflow System for this great Pond. My Interesting is great how You this father to improbe. Thankd6, the Video however first Class. 👌
Brian is going to have a REAL POND DAM, when you’re finished and a pond ready for fishing! Everything is looking good Chris! 👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻 It’s always nice to watch the Pond Master at work! When he’s finished, you know it’s been done RIGHT!👌🏻 I see Brian trying to help, he just doesn’t know what to do! It’s his first rodeo! lol 🤣😂🤣
I do think it’s funny how the beavers are running there butts off to dam up that temporary pipe and don’t have a clue that they are gonna have all the water they want shortly.
when the guy behind the camera said oh oh on that jointed dump truck off the side of the dam, so did i. this is just top notch stuff to watch. i guess now i'd say i wanna be good like him. don't think i can do that though. i guess he just has way more nerve fibers connected to that truck than i have. is it all about feeling the front left tire lose contact? jeez louise i'd have a hard time learning that feeling. we used to kid the guys about using the kegel on the seat method...lol
There is no perfect trash rack. My in-laws had a square rack two feet above the box with 8" squares. The hurricane nailed us in Georgia. All four sides were jam-packed with pine bundles. The only thing that saved the 14-acre pond was the runaround. Fortunately, they made a huge one. It took hours to clean that sucker.
That super pond he did last winter! That was a monster pond, the damn was at its max height of 25 feet!! It was a deep pond with an island. Then Chris built another one the same year but he used a 550 Volvo Excavator that was huge! If I'm correct the bucket on that 550 would fill Barney with 2 or 3 scopes!! Those are the 2 super ponds he built and both had 25 foot Dams!!
Years ago a geologist told me that clay was basically sand with inorganic material. I put a base of sand pea gravel and clay under my cement slab. No compacting required. It was left over material from mining pea gravel. 20 years no sinking. You just paid them for bringing it. 180 tons.
The trick on clay under a foundation is if it’s an expansive clay or not. That is to say that expands when it’s wet one shrinks when it’s dry. Build an ordinary slab foundation on expansive clay and you are looking for trouble during a drought or very wet period, and even more so when it cycles between the two. It leads to a lot of cracked foundations.
Great job 👍🏻 1:18 love how the dirt fell off the bucket love the home owners camera on the dump trucks bed 7:59 I was like that doesn’t sound like Chris 😂 might want to stop right there holy cow 😂 oh the front wheel is picking up 😂 love how the words said menu instead of Mini 😂 love how you corrected your self when you said over flow and love how you carried the attachments work smarter not harder love how you said oh come on
still wondering how the drag line would help making the pond a bit deeper how about inviting diesel crrek and the scrappy to bring thiers to your pond and lets see who gets the golden cable link... lol
I am civil engineer in site development, wondering why you are choosing corrugated plastic pipe versus RCP? Is it harder to merry the control structure to the CPP vs the RCP? Btw big fan of the channel, I enjoy it as it is in my industry and I am down in South Carolina

I agree with you 💯% overflow installation has always been my favorite as well. Right along with keying in a big dam with some good clay 💪💪
3 riser boxes! This is going to be a huge pond. Hope we get to see it full some day.
It will always be on BrushCommando's channel
@@Stratos53100 true!!
This was a like one of those puzzles where you first have to move something out of the way to move something in its place. Fun stuff!

Glad to see the overflow going in!! Always a cool process how you set this system!!
Well done Chris, that clay looked like it compacted great, the box and pipe is in, it`s cement and pack time, once again a job well done by an experienced dam builder, being done the right way.
I wonder if the overflow for the pond that this one drains into, is more massive :-)
That's going to be a nice depth pond once you're done.
Every time I watch a video like this, I’m blown away by the attention to detail!
Top three on me bucket list is operate an excavator........I'm workin onnit~!
Oh, that part of the dam build being done must feel good!
Good Job brother, thank for sharing
Great video awesome work putting in the overflow box and pipe. And it looks like the customer is being some good help when needed. Stay safe 🍻
Can you show a pic of the circular pond you built last year, it was basically round, with an island in the middle, below a large metal barndominium type building. Really curious how it turned out once it filled.
Awesome work can’t wait to see it when it’s finished !!
I really like watching Chris putting in the overflow structure and pipe then packing in the clay on each side.

Chris makes it look so easy!! It's actually very satisfying!!
Love the video on this pond Chris , your expert on your job .
The Pond Master doing a fine job as usual.
Nice video Chris. Job well done with the overflow and the pipe.

😁 We were in a mad dash to get this done! - Brian
@32:00 That's a massive pipe man, eh?!
This dam should hold up for many decades to come.
Made a lot of progress today. Looks great as always. Nice to have help. See you tomorrow.
I think that is the first time I've ever seen one pond overflow into a neighbors pond! I sure hope the neighbor has a good overflow system...LOL
Bealy has one too.
Clay-sand mix. I have a layer of it on my farm. I have more clay in mine. It holds water if packed.

Hay cris I think the sand that's all around the pond is silica sand it's used in forging steel and cast iron
Thoroughly enjoying this pond project. It's coming together beautifully!
Nice work, Chris. As per the norm.
I see that you are a great teacher at the job 😊
That’s looking good as always
Dang Chris, you're an artist!

Looks like beautiful pond dam clay 😊❤
Don't know why but seeing 2 pipes slip onto each other is very satisfying for some reason.
I know it feels good to have tools for any job you want to do!!!
Agreed and He worked his butt off for many years to get to this point.......
Missing Uncle John helping with the setting of the box. But you are handling it just great.
Don't go gettin your heart rate up now going over the edge. We need ya on the next vidya. Master of your craft with the experience and knowledge of a legend. Awesome work as always Chris.
Great to see you getting the overflow box and pipes in bro. It's coming along well. Safe travels. Ken.
Chris you are the Michelangelo of the excavator and dirt world!!! I love watching your videos! It amazing to see everything come to together!!!
Good job mate you have done well looking forward to seeing more of your videos

18:08 One thing I wish was visible on the a-pillar is a level indicator. 😉
That had been a big problem but you always fix❤❤❤❤
Chris Hope ur doing Good. Great Job Pond n Dam looking Good.
🤙🔥🇺🇸
Hey Chris, Looks fantastic!! Thumbs up! Stay safe. Jim
Another famous out order scene. :) Thank you and have a great day.
I have enjoyed this channel for a year and it helped me with some of the stuff I have been working on for myself

looking nice coming along real well. cheers.
I do think it’s funny how the beavers are running there butts off to dam up that temporary pipe and don’t have a clue that they are gonna have all the water they want shortly.
There's going to be so much water, the beavers will leave!
Nice job Chris.. that overflow and pipes should handle the water if needed..
Dumping the topsoil off the edge with the haul truck was a seven on the pucker factor scale!!
when the guy behind the camera said oh oh on that jointed dump truck off the side of the dam, so did i. this is just top notch stuff to watch. i guess now i'd say i wanna be good like him. don't think i can do that though. i guess he just has way more nerve fibers connected to that truck than i have. is it all about feeling the front left tire lose contact? jeez louise i'd have a hard time learning that feeling. we used to kid the guys about using the kegel on the seat method...lol
You should ask ADS to supply water stop gaskets so your grout will stick on both sides. .
12:50 That's a Pucker Factor 5
The sand reminds me of the sand at Scotts Gunner Lake.
There is no perfect trash rack. My in-laws had a square rack two feet above the box with 8" squares. The hurricane nailed us in Georgia. All four sides were jam-packed with pine bundles. Is Brian like Robert and is able to operate all machines ? 😮
Thanks for your video. You are a master at your job 😅
Overall, what has been your biggest job to date? Love the channel

DAMM! THIS GUY'S CUTTING THIS DIRT IN NICE WITH THOSE FANCY DINOSAURS 🦕

Yanmar, this is the Japanese tractor I purchased for my 5acre. spread and pond in Wilton California, it served me well,, .
It's getting there Chris 👍
Looking good Chris
good pond video
Great job 👍🏻 1:18 love how the dirt fell off the bucket love the home owners camera on the dump trucks bed 7:59 I was like that doesn’t sound like Chris 😂 might want to stop right there holy cow 😂 oh the front wheel is picking up 😂 love how the words said menu instead of Mini 😂 love how you corrected your self when you said over flow and love how you carried the attachments work smarter not harder love how you said oh come on

I’m guessing Milton didn’t come your way ? Looks dry out there, have a good evening, Mr. Chris .
Lookin' good
Good morning Chris 😊❤
Is that the owner that is helping you or is that one of your regular helpers
The owner and friend of 18.He has a channel called Brush Commando with vids of all this work to check him out!
I am civil engineer in site development, wondering why you are choosing corrugated plastic pipe versus RCP? Is it harder to merry the control structure to the CPP vs the RCP? Btw big fan of the channel, I enjoy it as it is in my industry and I am down in South Carolina
292nd!!
That's a bigN!,,looking good,Young Man, alotta work there
Always a pleasure Chris. Nice work as always
I can hear the ride in your voice!!!!😂😂😂
Almost done
Good job, good luck
Is the large dam that's holding the water now going away completely or just going to breach it? Keep up the amazing work and be safe
It's going to be used to finish the current dam build.
Man on a mission!
LetDrain18!😊
Héllo Brasil operation escavadeira hidráulica
I can't believe that guy questioned Chris's driving skills. It's about to start taking shape.
Man. I can see how a lack of vent holes in that bucket affects even digging loose sand.
That'll keep the beavers happier
You are the spitting image of an old friend of my father and I Robert Engler, it’s uncanny
So this is the place you tore out a pond to make another pond?
That and how much do you make an hour and how many houses you gonna help cram in?
Man, it shows the size of things when we can see how small the Yanmar is where the over flow pipe is going.
I wonder if that sand is like the sand we have . . . a sand/clay mix?
Great Video Chris!!!!
