Good morning Lily, life has its ups and downs, its days and nights, its summers and winters... and after discovering your inspiring site I can see that you have a gift, a beautiful way to illustrate and share your knowledge, your experience, your dreams.... Having said this, I suggest that you open your wings and take flight through the world, show us the vast and wonderful sea of the bakery with the gaze of the baker who has his soul purified in the ovens of hard work. The sea is still vast… spread your sails, the wind of time is on your side….

Miss Lilly, I can see the veil of stress already beginning to lift. You seem much happier and in better spirits already. Buckwheat pancakes are my absolute favorite. My father was raised on overnight yeast fermented Buckwheat pancskes, and we had them regularly as I grew up. To this day, I still prefer them over any other and will travel far to obtain Buckwheat flour, which isn't available locally.
I see there is an advantage to closing out a bakery. Left over special ingredients are available for your own use. Smaller quantities of what you put in your loaf add up in cost quickly. I do wish those of us who need to cook and bake with health conditions in mind wouldn't be penalized at the checkout so heavily.
I hope you find some relief from your eczema soon. Take care. Pay no mind to the rude haters. They are just putting their lack of intelligence on display for the world to see.

It is sad how people look at things so black and white. People view success differently, but in my opinion taking the leap to try something you love and stopping for whatever reasons is a huge success. You've gained knowledge about baking, yourself, business and god knows what else and now you are moving forwards based on those learnings. I somehow doubt the nasty commentors have made a fraction of the progress you have.
My only criticism I have about this video is that I've just finished lunch and now I want to eat some pancakes.

The fact that you could grow the business is just a sign your a good business person. Otherwise it wouldn't grow ;). It was more the cause of you doing all the things of your business yourself.

Total respect to you, it’s tough to make these decisions and whatever you decide is absolutely the right decision. You started up a business, grew it and took it to the point of expansion and got loads of brilliant experience, made many customers happy and lots of us that follow your channel happy too.
Nowadays everyone has to get used to changing and adapting during their working lives, whether working for themselves or others. Definitely not a failure to pivot and try something else… I’ve had several changes of direction in my working life and I now do something completely different to what I originally qualified in. Embrace it, I’m sure you make a success of whatever comes next.
Lastly, total sympathy for the eczema flare up. Stress and this time of year are usually triggers and I suffer the same issue with wanting to exercise but getting hot/sweaty whilst running just makes it worse. Really hope you can get it under control quickly and allow you to focus the next stage of your amazing career without the painful/itchy irritation!

I hope this is some practical advice that helps. I had an unconventional education, I'm dyslexic and didn't do too well at school. Set up my first business at 14 and had multiple businesses since. Each one has had my heart and soul, at times it tears you apart, consumes all of you, you are often left wondering why something didn't turn out how you had originally envisioned. The comments and criticisms a long the way do get to you, like you are experiencing, they are often far more potent and capture far more of your thoughts than positive counterparts. What I have learn't over time is these chapters and to some degree criticisms can become motivators if you give them the power to be (not the horrible baseless negative comments of course), motivators to make you think carefully, analytically and considerately about your next moves. They are never failures, you are already far far ahead of the people who never really tried. One of the best traits to have is to care, that deep pit of upset and despair you feel when it doesn't work out is a symptom of caring and its one of the best emotions because it warns you when you need to be brave and make a change. What you have learn't in the past 3 years is more valuable than any degree could teach you. You would not consider 3 years at university along with fees and living costs a waste of time. Its much more likely these 3 years for you have taught you far more valuable things than a degree ever could, quite possibly skills you may use and hone for the rest of your career. You made a difficult decision, one I'm sure had been carefully considered, this is a new chapter In business and the goal is simply to keep adapting, don't be scared to adjust course, don't jump immediately on your first great idea, think carefully about your next move, be patient and most importantly nurture what works and spend just a little time experimenting, trying new things, failing, evolving and enjoy this passion of baking. These words of wisdom always sound good after an event and I do understand rationale thinking goes out the window when you are in it. So I wish you all the best with your future endeavours, keep doing what you are doing. I've only recently got into baking and your video came up on my discovery. I find it challenging and relaxing but I have a lot to learn. Whilst I can't understand the technical nuisances of your industry I understand how you feel from a business perspective perhaps, therefore I thought I'd share my experiences too. P.S. the latest diary of a CEO podcast with Adam grant is an interesting insight in running your own business from a creative perspective. Maybe you will find it thought provoking.

@@LilysLoaf I thought I’d share an observation and hope it’s helpful. Your finishing, the end product and attention to detail in the end result is exceptional,
It certainly stands out when I look at your bakes. I crossed paths with a wedding venue a few years ago. Very briefly, independent privately owned venues often use their premises to host and almost always rely on supply chain to fulfil the events even down to staffing. Often; to compete with commercial multi purpose venues who have their own in house kitchens, the independents source artisan goods to give a much higher level of detail and finish to the experience to set them aside from larger venues. I’m sure you are very well considered with regards to wholesale and probably already know this but judging by the standards of your output this would be a very good fit, a large batch bake and a product that can be appreciated in the right environment. It is about getting to the right wedding client in this case. Some research perhaps but the end product in a box for them to sample is a very good in. Just thought I’d share… to some extent private corporate functions too. All the best
