@4CillaV I'm glad you liked the guide. Don't give up on the game! It takes a few plays to get all the rules down, but once you've got them, there's much fun to be had! And hey, even if you're still struggling through the rules, you still get to hang out with friends or your family... I'd consider that a great use of time. :)
Thanks for the video. We just bought this for our weekly game night, and will be trying it out tomorrow. This how-to guide will make it easier! Thanks for taking the time to put it together.
@koosjebig I think it really depends on your group. I think it makes sense to play through a couple rounds, making sure every role gets played, so they get a feel for it. Then restart and play a full game. I think inventing new rules would make it more confusing rather than less... just my opinion. Thanks for checking out my guide!
@whatspace Glad you liked it! Doesn't encompass ALL the rules, but I think it can help clarify them and gets the majority of it all out there in a teachable way. Definitely let me know if you think of anything that could make it better.
Glad you liked it! Yes, I liked doing the cheesy version better too. I went with flatter delivery on the power grid one... but I think cheesy is more my style. I went back to cheesy with with my Loopin' Louie review... check it out if you haven't already!
@LordGek Sure... available resources is different every time, available roles to choose re based on what other players took before you... number of settlers available depends on layout of everyone's buildings, etc.
Thanks for your comment nemesis... it's easy for me to say "it's just a game" while sitting here in the United States where I grew up living very sheltered from the rest of the world, with no real ties to even my own ancestry. I appreciate you taking the time to leave your comment. -Mike
@x1t2f3 Wow... how the heck did I never notice that before? I must have thought it was some alert playing on my own computer. Thanks for pointing that out... I will make a point to try and edit that out if I make changes to the video in the future. Besides that annoying bell, I hope the guide was otherwise of use! Thanks for taking a look!
@candelazul Fair enough. I hope you've also voiced your concerns with the German manufacturer and the various publishers in Germany, USA, etc. Not to mention leaders and those with power in Puerto Rico who could rally to get this game off the shelves. That would seem more productive than passing judgement on me and the visitors of this youtube channel. Thank you for your honesty and fervor.
@CoquiMan Technically the whole guide was completely unnecessary. Apologies if you didn't appreciate that particular reference to email spam. I felt it fit the tongue-in-cheek nature of the rest of the video.
Excellent quickstart! I was unfortunate to have to read the whole guide book and trying hard to figure out how to play... and it took quite while. There wasn't much clear 'quickstart' like yours on the net. I am sure many would find it helpful with this video. Thanks!
@x1t2f3 You bet! And I realize now why I never noticed it before. The bell sound turned up when I encoded the video for RUclips. If you watch the original video, it's higher quality... and no bell! There's a link to the original video in the description for this one.
What would be a good way to make this game a bit easier (less overwhelming) in the first play for beginners? I was thinking of not considering the special functions of buildings. Another option would be to take out the captain, and only get points by building. Any thoughts?
Nice quick start. Have played about 4 times, each time I learn something new. A very interesting game that begs to be played and played. Constructive crit: please talk in your real voice!
@candelazul If you allow the historic basis for a boardgame mechanic to rile you up that much, I'm afraid there are very few strategy games you'd enjoy. Do you really think that I sit around the board with my white friends, wringing my hands and cackling about the slaves we get to trade? How about games where I'm sending soldiers off to war? Games where I send a robber to my neighbors land? Games where I backstab, lie, murder, steal? Trust the "Life" of my family to the spin of a wheel...
Get over yourself and your histrionics. I'm Cuban and I have no problems with this game or the many games based on Cuba where you try to become/stay a dictator. It's a game.

I loved this guide =). The cheesy rule explanation held my attention a lot longer than just a general explanation.
Thanks for the solid overview! I now might need to get the just released iPad version.

thanks, this game isn't easy to understand but at least it is a great guide.

When is that German / Final solution game coming out?
Question for you, LoF, does the game feature any randomization?
You've never played a board game based on WWII?
