IT'S SEASON PREMIER TIME!!!! What did you guys think?
It is the start of a very fun season. :)
It's great guys can u pls react to savage beauty a South African Series 🎉pls
I think it’s cruel to make us wait for the second part of a two-parter episode. 🤣
Also, Willow shouldn’t have raised Buffy from the dead. Everytime Willow is unhappy, she turns to dark magic. To make Xander stop listing after her, to punish Oz, etc. I think Willow’s been crossing lines for a long time and getting too reliant on using magic when she doesn’t feel happy.
Season 6😐😑 when they decided to vilify everything and everyone wanting to prove their perverted point of view. No spoilers but just an opinion and also a fact.
There is a meme where they write:
Buffy season 1 to 4. Season 5 to 7
Fun eral
Have fun with the late half of Buffy. This show goes places
Could you imagine though, if the writers had established waaay back in 1x10 Nightmares, and revisited in 4x04 Fear Itself, that being buried alive is one of Buffy's worst fears? How messed up would that be?
Right?!! Can you imagine people not realizing that after years? Crazy world we live in
Yeah, this show is made for people not to pay attention.
@@TheAnswerWillleaveyou Or, yanno, people who got one show a week during the prime time season and couldn't binge it? Nah...
If that had happened, I most likely would have forgotten.
I cant wait until "once more with feeling"
Damn, I usually just find most of what Pat says funny because it’s so out there, but what he said at the beginning about how Buffy didn’t sacrifice herself so her sister can carry the burden of being a slayer was spot on.
Pat was spot-on about a few things. V. insightful.
fr I'm kinda gagged at his prescience rn
Yes, that stood out to me as well. One of the most insightful things I've heard from Pat.
He's out of pocket a lot but that doesn't mean he's not paying attention. This was one of his best takes.
Remember when he claimed that there are bugs on the moon?
"Where is the government with that invisible children shit" I love that Rana is still bringing that up 5 seasons later 😂
when joyce died their dad was uncontactable. at this point i think they're estranged enough to not feel guilty about not telling him she's dead.
Well I mean that's just fucking monstrous. Like, I love how they just sort casually off-handedly mention that Hank is just like the absolute worst person ever here. It's so nonchalant and so fucking atrocious it's kinda funny.
For 2001, Buffy's dead body and its coming back to life is genuinely terrifying and creepy
Still is, honestly.
You can see buffys soul fly back into her grave right at that moment when the urn is destroyed
Yesss I always loved that @@RecoveringChristian
Haven't seen that scene in a few years surprised it has actually held up for it being 23 years old.
I saw BTS picture of the coffin and her dead body, real creepy.
That moment when you guys are like: "You don't bring back the dead! You don't mess with that s**t!" but then, when the urn gets broken you all: "Noooooooooooooooo" 🤣❤
Why wasn't this a double drop? I can't wait another week for part 2.
Rana's color-changing sweater in the post-ep discussion is trippy. I'm excited for the reactions to this season!
Wait, is that an edit?
@@selenagomezacapellaYes. Her sweater was green. So they just green-screened a color change on it. It looks awesome.
I thought there was something wrong with my screen for a minute 😂
@@TheBlarggle DAMN! They had me out here looking for a color changing hoodie!!!
I looked at her sweater 3 times before I thought "waitaminute"
Willow saying "they wouldn't understand" very transparently means "they wouldn't agree with me."
Exactly. If you gotta lie and cover shit up, you already know what you’re doing is wrong…and you don’t care. She knew damn well it was wrong.
@@daniig62Also why she lied about the spell. She knew the others would object if they knew all the details, like the animal sacrifice.
Well without spoiling anything, its perfect setup.
True but she didn’t know Buffy was happy for all they knew Buffy was suffering and being tormented but it was selfish I do agree.
Hank, Buffys father, was in LA up to season 2 but then sometime before Joyce died in S5 he was in an unknown location in Spain with his secretary.
“Cup-a tea, cup-a tea, almost got shagged, cuppa tea?” Spike making fun of Giles asking if his life flashed before his eyes..terrific line..
What’s messed up is that in Season 1, it was confirmed that Buffy’s biggest fear and nightmare is being buried alive. So Buffy is literally waking up in and living her worst nightmare.
A new Slayer was not called when Buffy died, because Buffy is not the true, “official” Slayer - Faith is. The Slayer line passed from Buffy to Kendra and now runs through Faith. *Faith* is the true Slayer.
@@yayazowGiles literally says in Season 2 that Kendra is “The” Slayer, and Buffy is just “a” slayer.
The Slayer line runs through Faith. Faith is the true Slayer. Buffy is an anomaly.
@@yayazowNo. Faith was "the" Slayer before this. Buffy passed the line to Kendra, then to Faith. Buffy dying called no one because she wasn't in the line anymore.
S7 covers this.
It's crazy how many reactors sometimes don't trust the show and then they become sorry for not trusting the show.
Right .. i be like if only yall would just stick around . yall will be amazed lol , Cause even Season 6 And 7 is Good
understandable because so many shows do this trope and they don't do it well.
There have been moments in this show where the reactors basically facepalmed, like in "Go Fish".
Good job noticing Willows wardrobe changes/colors! Those were very intentional. They discuss them in the commentary for the episode
I still need to watch the commentary.
Is the commentary online or do you have to buy a DVD exclusive. God I feel old mentioning DVDs
@@Al7249 only with the DVDs, not online unfortunately
@@Al7249 People still collect VHS tapes to this day.
This episode was released on October 2, 2001, just after September 11, though it would have been filmed before it happened.
They didn't pass the airport rules changes until November anyway, though things were still pretty crazy.
So happy to see you guys hit the Sunshine and Roses Season.
The part where Tara said: "argh gurgh" like the monster at the end of the credits after every episode completely went over your heads!
I love that part.
I know im late to comment but i think they usually try to rush to pause whenever they see the credits so it doesnt skip to next episode but i dont watch the full patreon version so maybe they have seen it a bunch of times lol but i love that part , amber benson deserved to blow up
Maybe if Buffy's Dad had shown up for Joyce's funeral, or checked in on how his daughters were coping after such a massive loss they would have given him a bit more consideration.
Even if the Scoobies forgot / didn't know Buffy being buried alive was her worst fear, why didn't they at least dig up the coffin first??? They're so thoughtless.
I think they expected the spell, if successful, to place her right there with them.
Perhaps the spell required her to still be buried and she was supposed to wake up above ground.
@@jp3813considering the shock when they found out she had to do that…ima go on a limb and say there was no reason for them to think she’d just pop up or something.
@@daniig62 It's clear that they didn't expect her to arrive underground.
Rana and the Amazing Technicolor DreamHoodie 🌈
I thought I was tripping!
Imagine waiting an entire summer wondering what was going to happen.
Welcome to the darkest and arguably most divisive season of Buffy… We’ve been expecting you 😈
No need to set their expectations. Let them uncover each season on their own.
They couldn't tell people she was dead if they were planning on bringing her back to life even her dad. Yes if there was no chance then he needs to know. Dawn definitely does not need to be with him, hes literally never even met her regardless of memories. Buffy is Dawns actual "mother" (Dawn is made fron her) and 100% would've wanted Dawn in their care.
He has met her; their memories is redone so that they actually had a life with her. To Buffy, she knew Dawn all of her life; that’s why Buffy’s bond with Dawn is that of a sister as she stated herself. Remove the memories and Dawn is a stranger to her.
It's off them being shocked at what happened with the dad. Like I agree he should've been told but lol he didn't seem like he gave a fuck and we barely get any character development past just being an absent dad most of the time
@@unrelatedcoma he was absent and never really called. That's not jumping to conclusions unless I'm mistaken, by all means tell me. That's not sarcasm, I'm open to being wrong.
@@unrelatedcoma I would assume it's based off him literally being an absent parent since he last appeared in S2 and constantly let Buffy down after that. Dude started a new life.
She does have a gravestone. That's probably a giveaway.
4:31 y’all Buffy’s dad ain’t shit. Why would Dawn want to go live with that man?😂😂😂
The writers had a lot, LOT of debate on how much the gang would have to pay for Buffy to come back, to make the act “cost” enough to be believable. Willow wore white, after the deer sacrifice (which upset her onstage quite a lot even though it was not real) she wore red..Willow’s arc continues. Everyone depends on her to pull off the big magic, but don’t understand or care about the possible consequences to Willow’s own soul and psyche. However, Willow was very self motivated to get Buffy back..can’t really analyze more than that without spoilers. Oh, and you guys stink for not doing part two today..lol..!
There's a brilliant pay off to this storyline, you gotta trust the process believe me.
Just let them establish their own expectations. Better for reactions.
Buffy's dad abandoned them he ain't got the right to shit lol.
I watched when they attempted to do the spell to bring Buffy back and was like “uhhh…is no one going to dig her up first on the chance that this could be a success??? 💁🏾♂️
Whole time watching the full-length I'm like "WTF is the deal with Rana's sweater???" (thought it might be a material designed to interact with a light that was set up off-camera or something) laughed out loud when I switched back to this and saw it was just greenscreen-green and editor was having fun.
Ah, Season 6, this will be an... interesting trip.
Interesting is one way to put it. It has some great moments, but also... Some moments we'd rather pretend never happened. It's going to be an interesting season to watch them react to, that's for sure.
An interesting trip ... like that sweater 😆
Pat: if buffy is dead i'm quitting this show. 1 minute later: if they bring buffy back this show is trash! huh?!?!?
Thanks, I wasn't sure if i was trippin with that one
Don't pay attention, he's just like to hate things
You must be new. Pat's an idiot.
The duality of man
He just doesn't want her death to mean nothing. Lazy dragonball deaths ruin shows.
Pat is on fire! I think he’s really going to get and love this season. It’s a dark one with both amazing moments and terrible moments. Hope they all make it through!
I think that the police in the city learned a long time ago when to intervene and when not to.
Buffy was brought back from the dead. Тwice
Аngel was brought back from the dead. And he was technically twice dead at that moment.
Joyce was brought back from the dead.
The henchmen tried to bring Master back from the dead. And he was also dead twice.
In this series, they do nothing but resurrect everyone left and right. :)))
Buffy before this only came back in the way people do in the real world, Joyce was brought back maybe as a zombie, we don't know, Angel never died after he was a vampire, he was sent through a hell portal, and The Master died by "supernatural" means and was supposedly not completely killed because his bones were still there. That being said, there is magick in this, so who knows
except when they didn't, and they broke the fandom :'(
ICONIC, I remember watching this episode and s6x2 on repeat all the time back in the day! It was always airing on tv.
Season 6 is my favorite season by far. Lets GO!!!!!
This should've been a double drop. I feel like there was no respect for how about that marzipan in your Pie plate bingo
Eagle eyed viewers may notice after the red beam stops shortly after you see Buffy's blue/white soul going down into the coffin.
The way all their theories are *kind of* right is amazing.
The Giles 3 Stooges slap was a mixed opportunity 😂
And so begins season 6. I think it handles some very important topics and has really stellar performances in it. Bringing Buffy back is something that I found conflicting originally, as of course you want Buffy back, but this action does feel questionable. I didn't have an issue with them not telling her dad. He's been a crap dad and Dawn wanted to stay there. Fair enough.
Really don't understand the defense of Mr. Summers. Their dad hasn't been seen since what, the second season? When Joyce died he not only didn't show up for the funeral, but they couldn't get in touch with him. He's a deadbeat dad, and that's putting it lightly. There's no reason to allow him to take custody of Dawn based on blood alone.
Oh boy, season 6. You are in for a wiiiiiild ride
Their father has been absent for years - he chose a new life over his daughter/s and has demonstrated over and over how little care he has for them. Dawn is far better off with the people who do love and care for her. She is much better off with the family she has in Sunnydale than a guy who chose himself.
@@unrelatedcoma a man who decided to get married and have children decides to abandon his daughter and go live his life somewhere far away, not even bothering to keep in contact. God forbid people rightfully criticize that narcissistic decision. But people like you can't understand that I guess.
@unrelatedcoma when you're a parent you need to actually put effort into parenting, not go off living your own life.
@@unrelatedcomadumb take
@@unrelatedcoma if you willingly decide to ignore how a character is written on the show just because you're biased because they're the same gender as you or have the same personality as you that's a YOU problem. I never stated Joyce was a perfect mother, that is not a belief I personally hold. Everyone around Buffy was flawed including Buffy herself. To ignore that her father is included in that group is just delusional, biased, whatever the hell.
@@unrelatedcomawhat we do know is he moved away and went no contact. Even when they tried to reach out about Joyce's death he couldn't be bothered to call Buffy back. Even if she was in college, he's he father and her mother just died. And he couldn't bother with a phone call to check on his daughter 🤷 they mentioned that they tried to reach him. Just because you're a NCP doesn't mean you write off your child when they reach college. Unless you really don't care.
He moved on with his life because he didn't have custody, understandable. Cutting off contact with Buffy, not understandable. Regardless of what memory he was may/ may not have of Dawn. No contact when Joyce died cut any possible expectation of being informed of anything else
Rana's sweatshirt at the end discussion 😂 Why did it take me so long to realize it was changing colors?
I only noticed because of this comment and now i feel like i was blind before 😂
Wow, the edit cut out literally every major Spike line/moment. I guess the couch wasn't reacting much to those moments (not that they have to, plus the guy can be mesmerizing). Really curious how that goes moving forward. Like it would be kind of hilarious if the reaction edits just kept cutting out all the Spike stuff. I'm a fan of the show and Spike, this idea just tickles my inner anarchist.
Spike is a annoying character, especially this season.
If only we were so lucky.
Spike fans are kinda annoying. This is not his tv show
@@okiguess8103Sure. But he's the reason the show reached the heights it did. Take Spike out of the show and it's not even a classic at that point. 🤷
@@x-man9473 see? That's why you're so annoying. You're delusional and say whatever lol not even James Masters would agree with that. The writing is the reason, but sure girl, think whatever you want.
dear editor:
thank you for fucking with Rana's shirt lmao
Finally season 6! Well buckle up for the emotional roller coaster!
Rana and the technicolor hoodie.
They had to know Buffy was coming back. It wouldn't make much sense for the show to still be called Buffy the Vampire Slayer if Buffy wasn't in it anymore.
I think some people assumed the Buffy bot was going to take her place for the remainder of the show lol
When you are 6 season deep into this phenomenally well written show, and you are still not trusting the writers to know what they are doing....
no spoilers but when people say "there has to be consequences"...what show have you been watching? there are always consequences. And we are so close to THE EPISODE every fan has been waiting for.
6:35 The Hanson band shirt he is wearing is a stark contrast to the Hellions biker gang, one of which is wearing a Judas Priest shirt.
Oh they're finally in THIS season. Lots to look forward to but I specifically am waiting for their reaction to TWO specific scenes, both with a line consisting of TWO very specific words. 😃😃 IYKYK. 🤐🤫
Hmm. I can think of a couple, but I only recall them in one scene. I'll have to rewatch the last two episodes.
What a great reaction. You guys are really making this fun.
My favorite season, it's a dark wild ride
Off topic, but the spotlight on Rana's shirt was epic
Alyson Hannigan said she had a really hard time with that deer scene, she kept crying. You can actually see she was crying in the take the kept. Also the Giles in the airport scene, its weird cause Xander keeps reading the note, Giles doesn't take over and it just cuts to him thinking before they arrive on the DVD version, the voice over of Giles doing it was only used for "Previously" . Xander Willow and Dawn all wearing numbers on their shirts wasn't counting down to anything though I thought so too, the costume designer just actually put them in number shirts without thinking, it doesn't actually mean anything. Buffy only having one street is funny and cool cause they actually built that entire street with SunCinima and everything, you could even walk inside the Espresso Pump and I am pretty sure the magic box. Sarah Michelle Gellar also has a huge fear of being buried alive, so the coffin stuff was really hard for her.
Welcome to S6.
I saw the title of the video and my first thought was, _I thought they finished S5._
I'm still surprised streaming services break the first two episodes of this season up when they didn't until reruns on TV and the DVD had it as one episode.
Rana: There not doing well." Just like when Buffy ran away, this is a good way for the show to acknowledge Buffy has skills as a slayer that don't allow slaying to be easy for most others who don't have those skills.
The show is called _Buffy the Vampire Slayer._ Rana being suprised Sarah Michelle Gellar was on the main cast list is gonna boggle my mind for a while.
Anthony Stewart Head wanted to spend time with his family in England after having been away a while and they've had a natural out for Giles since Buffy graduated high school. Her death was the time the writers decided to put it into action.
Considering Mr. Summers is uncontactable since before Joyce died (they tried to contact him at that point and when they couldn't here, decided he didn't need to know) and cares more about his secratary than Dawn, I think the law wouldn't wonder about being on his side. Personally, I don't think he should know, but that's just me. Ever since the beginning of the series, it has slowly been making Hank Summers' estrangement a plot point for dead beat dad who backs out of familial responsibilities. Last we heard, he was "living the clique" with his secratary in Spain. Before that he ignored a birthday tradition of Buffy's to the ice show. That's why I think he shouldn't know Buffy died or have parental rights to Dawn. If he cared, that would be a different story, but Chris is wrong in that this isn't just something fans go with. Hank has been this way for a while. The law might be with him, but he wouldn't want it anymore than the Scoobies. He would put on a show for a while, but revert to a deadbeat dad and scar Dawn in a different way than Buffy's death has already done. Sadly, not telling him is more healthy.
The Scoobies biggest mistakes in their plan (outside of the resurrection itself, which has already been set up in-universe as a problem to do) is allowing the Buffybot to patrol alone and having a _return to Willow when faulty_ feature. The Scoobies, combined with not grieving and not putting aside their Faith annimosity to get her out of jail when needed, are at fault the town got taken over and Buffy was resurrected in her grave. I don't even blame the demons as much as the Scoobies. The demons were just doing what you expect from demons. The Scoobies know what they were doing wasn't right. They conversed about it. The Normies saying Giles needs to come back and call out the stupidity was great.
The government were raising the invisible kids to be killers and hitmen in non-mythological situations, at best. And considering their stupidity with The Iniiative, they would've just bungled up trying to help after Buffy's death, as well.
A small town like Sunnydale, sometimes only does have one street, Marketa. It's not unrealistic for the only other streets to be where people live.
It's been months. Of course Buffy's body would be decayed. In-between every season finale and premiere is roughly three to five months.
I agree with Pat (There's a first for everything). If the writers just dismissed everything now that Buffy's gone, her resurection means nothing. The Scoobies already made her sacrifice worthless. Not by bringing her back, but by not considering all the consequences and taking them into account beforehand.
Your not supposed to be onboard with the plan, Marketa. That's the idea. Same with watching the "vase" get smashed. Marketa's reaction was natural even when not on board with said plan. That's great writing. Even though the credits spoil it will work (unless the writers decide to have Sarah Michelle Gellar play the Buffybot for two more seasons).
I'm guessing Rana has never watched Supernatural?
TBF Sam, Dean, and Cas are LITERALLY Mary Sues.
Season 6 has one of my favorite episodes, but I would have been okay if they had ended the series with season 5. Her grand sacrifice was perfectly done.
I won't say which ones, but my eyes opened real wide when I heard a couple of your predictions for things to come lol. Looking forward to seeing more of this series!
"BUFFY IS A DEER?" giving the same energy as "WILLOW IS A DEMON?" 😂😂
i'll be real this is honestly when the show got really good for me. i really enjoyed the later seasons where things got dark and weird and they weren't in high school or college. so much closer to once more with feeling.
Two things I always notice when re-watching. One, if the plan was to have BuffyBot around to hide the fact that RealBuffy had died, why did they have a gravesite? I get that Sunnydale has a bagillion cemetaries, but... I don't know, it seems like a pretty obvious sign someone died.
Second is that this was the show's first season on UPN, which was a brand spanking new network with no Standards and Practices Department. And, yeah, it shows. lol
finally we're at season 6... every day we get a little closer to OMWF and i cannot wait 😂

Good talking there! Next couple will be fun to watch with you guys!
Can't wait to see you guys reactions to rest of this season 😈
A good premiere. Can’t wait for the next episode! ❤
Oh this season is a wild ride, get ready!
Is anyone watching along with the DVD? I threw on my disc and there were entire (short) scenes missing from the version The Normies watched (it made syncing a right pain in the ass). On the DVD, Bargaining Part 1 and 2 are combined into one episode, so maybe it's a "directors cut" of sorts. Anyone know? Or is the streaming version cut "for syndication?" I feel bad that they were asking about Spike and his scene from when the bikers show up was cut from their version.
Now I absolutely must buy the DVD version. I know the Normies are watching the HD remaster, since they've mentioned noticing boom mics and crew visible at the edges of shots that weren't intended for widescreen. The HD remaster is the version that is available on streaming services. From what you said, the remaster also lost some transition scenes/moments, on top of all the other major mistakes. The blasphemy of the remaster continues!
@@em8066 yeah, I knew they were watching the HD remaster, but I had no idea it also cut scenes. I've had some timing issues with my DVDs and their stream before, but it's usually due to the fade-to-black for "commercial break" between acts. Usually their Hulu black breaks are longer than my DVD ones. But with this episode, there are transition/establishing shots either missing or cut back, there's an edit in the airport scene with dialogue from Xander cut out, and two actual scenes that I can think of, one with Dawn and Spike, and one with Buffybot and Dawn at school, that are missing entirely.
Season 6 is the GOAT!
Rana and the amazing technicolor sweater.
Can't wait to see you guys react at this season!!!! 🤩🤩🤩 Uuuuuhhh, this is gonna be fun!!!! ❤
This was a fantastic season premiere.
I love the fact that Chris has watched so many of the same kid cartoons as I did.
If you know anyone with the Buffy dvds rewatch this episode. For some reason the reruns & the digital version have some small scenes cut (I think for the running time for the reruns).
What is happening with ranas hoodie?? Am I tripping?
Willow assumes that Buffy - who did her best to save the world and be a loving friend, sister, and daughter - went to *hell.* Wow.
Well two things. First, she died in the interdimensional portal. So it's possible she got taken to a random dimension in theory I guess. Second, weve only heard about alternate dimensions being hell dimensions so the assumption is warranted.
Big Spoilers
...
...
...
...
In addition to the obvious thing where her cause of death was "falling through portal to hell dimension", there's also the fact that hell dimensions are just... known to exist. Plenty of demons live in them, and aside from Pylea, most of the info we have about them is that some are more horrific than others and that time moves differently there. Both Buffy and Souled Angel have been to hell dimensions before, and Buffy definitely saw other people there who didn't necessarily deserve torment. By contrast, there's no word on anyone going to a heavenly dimension prior to Buffy and Cordelia.
Complete sidenote, in the event of my death, if you think there's even a chance I'm in Heaven, ignore that chance, use all the dark magic you want to res me.
@@republicoftexas3261 Suspension of belief is required for this show.
I don't think Willow would had thought that if Buffy was killed by a random vampire, the Master or Angel... It's pretty clear why she thinks that.
@@republicoftexas3261 that’s how I interpreted it. It looked like she got trapped in the dimension glory was trying to get back to.

Welcome to Season 3!
Welcome to Buffy's darkest and most depressive season. I like it, there's a couple of episodes that I don't like / would definitely change, but overall it's a good season. But it's between season 5 and season 7, which are the best seasons for me, so it "suffers" because of that (and for other reasons I won't mention here). It's a really strong opener though, it sets up a lot of things. And it gets real crazy, which I like.
OMG can't believe they're five and a half weeks away from *that* episode. Yeah you know which one
