- American Couple Reacts: ICE CREAM BOAT & Canal Boats In England! FIRST TIME REACTION! SO JEALOUS UK! We have been lucky to see a couple videos of the UK's Canal Boats. We absolutely love seeing them! In this episode we not only get to see some but we get to see them at the Linslade Easter Market! They have so many cool things that they sell! Natasha LOVED a specific item. However, if you know our Show, you know Debbie has an obsession of Ice Cream Boats in the UK! While we have never really gotten to see one for more than a few seconds, we get a sneak peak into one here! Debbie LOST HER MIND! We don't have many Ice Cream Boats in the USA and the ones we have, are no where near our area. This was FUN! And we WANT MORE! Thanks to each of YOU for watching! I'd absolutely visit Debbies Ice Cream boat... "Debbies Cones" killed me, or is it "Debbies Scones"? :D.
(btw it should be pronounced Lin-slade, not Lins-lade.)
Lookup Hoseasons for canal boat rental, although they're not the only ones. Can you cope with a maximum 4mph sustained meandering holiday?
Ouch oooch eek! Background music horrible! Distracting
UK have had many popular ice creams brands in the past my favorite was "Feast" but if you are a cheapskate a nice chocolate "Viennetta" (the mint version is terrible).
@@user-hv5wi6nd4i The 99 is a well balanced iced-cream, but here I have to give credit to the Italians... The Cornetto ice cream was invented by Spica, an Italian ice-cream manufacturer based in Naples, in 1959.
Still amazed at ice cream boats and all the canals. ❤ I can't wait to visit one in real life.
Stratford upon Avon has a restaurant boat and ice cream boat, just saying lol 😂
Clydebank Scotland has a fish and chips boat lol.
Well I live on a narrowboat. You are both welcome to come and visit anytime.
Sadly not an ice cream boat but sure I could turn it into one for the day! 😅 😉
There's more miles of canals in Birmingham (England) than in Venice!
yeah but ts birmingham....
@@imEmopsThe canals in Birmingham are cleaner than in Venice.
@@pobstrel go swim in them then mate
I agree with Debbie about being a big kid. Growing old is compulsory, growing up is optional. Something i still refuse to do.
I used to work with a woman who lived (with a couple of friends) in a longboat on the Regents Canal. Her main complaint was that it had no insulation on the hull, so in winter the walls were at the same temperature as the canal water.
Other than that though, it was pretty good - a long skinny apartment with all modern conveniences and nice scenery.
I know Debbie’s job when she comes to the UK permanently 😂
Ice cream taster without a doubt.
Hi ladies,I actually own a canal boat,it draws alot more attention than it once did , particularly since I painted it a nasty brown colour and changed its name to "The Giant Floater"❤❤❤
😆😆😂😂
When Debbie gets her boat, we will all be customers.
Morning lovely ladies , oh my God Debbie's idea of heaven lol , the ice cream queen was in a dream lol 😂😂❤❤
Hope Natasha has a defibrillator at the ready! recorded before I know but rewatching I think Debbie could have an 'episode'seeing an ice cream boat again if she isn't calmed with a nice double scoop cone in hand x. me, never seen one yet, gutted
Currently sat watching this with my mum in Leighton buzzard! The canal is about 5 minutes from her house and is every bit as beautiful as it looks.
I live near the Norfolk broads & they have ice cream boats too 😍 really nice! I could see Debbie having a boat with Debbie's Cones 🍦🍦 written on the side 😆 My 3 favourite flavours are raspberry ripple, toffee & the Neapolitan.
I also live near the Broads, as far as I can tell there are 3 ice cream boats locally. I randomly stumbled upon the moorings used overnight by 2 of them. The ice-cream boats are a lot of fun...
@@g0fvt "randomly stumbled upon the moorings used overnight" or "surreptitiously broke into their stores and spent the night there, pigging out on free ice cream"? Come on - be honest, which is it? 😉
If I had the bucks I would buy you an ice cream boat Debbie. You lit up the screen with your 😊. So lovely to see. So great to see you laughing once again Natasha. You girls are the best- authentic, charming, real, honest, sincere and adorable. This is one channel I adore thank you
You're very kind, thank you! ♥️♥️
debbie gonna love the uk, there are ice cream boats, vans & parlours throughout the UK 😊
Good afternoon Ladies. I have lived in Linslade for the last 48 years and the walks along the Grand Union canal are lovely. Last year, we hired a narrow boat for the day and had a superb day out with my two sons and their wives. Nothing more relaxing on a bright summers day.
Debbie, please don't ever be sorry for being yourself
FYI 'Old Speckled Hen' is a brand of British beer , an English Pale Ale originally brewed by Morland and named after an old MG prototype car .
That was great! Seeing Debbie’s face light up when the icecream boat came on was priceless 😂 👍🏻❤️
If I maye be so bold, if you two were to have an ice cream boat, I fear there would be the real danger of Debbie consuming the profits. Seriously though, being on a fully self contained canel boat, pootling along a scenic waterway in England during summer, is the best unwinding holiday ever. You both would love it.
Wouldn't an ice cream boat melt in the summer?
Bless you Debbie, you are WONDERFUL
❤
Favourite flavour has to be Rum and Raisin Debbie!
I've never had it. 😊
Debbie, you would lose your mind if you had an ice cream in Devon, where you get a heap of clotted cream on top of it
Debbie, you've got my custom, just come over and set yourself up on a narrowboat!
More of this Debbie please! It's awesome when we see you guys as you usually are 😊
What a fab day out that would be with a nice pub lunch
Great video, today is sunny and definitely feeling the need for Debbie to have an ice cream boat right now 😊
I've stopped at an ice cream boat on the Norfolk broads before. It was a great surprise to see it.
Jealous 😊
Fun fact = the strawberry sauce on ice cream is known in the North East (and possibly other areas) as Monkey’s blood 😂
We are picking up our brand new canal boat next month!!! The fulfilment of a life’s dream. Sadly it does not have an ice cream machine! But the best ice cream is clotted Cream ice cream from Cornwall and Devon!
Seriously, there is nothing better than pootling along on the canals of England and Wales…..(Scotland’s are a bit different, but still well worth doing).
Thanks as ever…
Good news, I wish you all the best.✌️
It’s a great way to holiday in England.
We live near the bridgewater canal in Worsley & the canal is orange due to the iron ore that washes out of the old mines. We have a sweet boat that comes every now and again, and you should see the queues when it’s here! You would both love it x
As a narrow boater l couldn't agree with you more about ice-cream boats.
The boat you mentioned was different with the tent like middle is a working boat. The tent canvas rolls up to load cargo.
You guys are so much FUN.
Thank you!
My favourite ice cream flavour; mint choc chip. :)
Great video, great place to go and visit and love ice cream.❤
It's great to see you two happy again after recent happenings. Keep up the great work. Your videos always make me smile. 🙂
That makes us happy!
What a beautiful genuine reaction. Its the simple things in life that bring the biggest joy. Fav flavour for me is Raspberry Ripple, and I am partial to a double nougat (pronounced like nugget, not noo-ga)...lol 😂❤
We live within an hour’s drive of several canals and often walk the tow paths. I’ve not seen any boats selling stuff.
Natasha & Debbie, the Grand Union Canal runs through Berkhamsted where I grew up
Tis Ange.
Love Debbies reaction. Her giddiness is catchy. Nibbling a curly wurly now in ur honour Debbie.
Thanks Ange 😊
Speed limit on the canals is 4mph, so you don't go great distances in a day! Locks slow you down, and you only move in daylight - about 40 miles tops! ( in Summer ). Never seen the Ice Cream Boat, but I've seen a Fish & Chip boat in Retford on the Chesterfield Canal. Canal cruising is popular, and locks & junctions get VERY congested in summer ( and amateur helmsmen! )
Debbie you are adorable !! I know an afternoon tea bagel not an ice cream boat, I really pray someone knows one for you to visit and play queen of waterway ice cream
❤
No need to walk the walk, they sell sneakers icecream bars in the Supermarket. Delicious. We also get icecream vans coming around our streets. Caburys make the best chocolate.
I knew this lady, years ago. She had a canal boat. She used too jump off, get the bus to the launderette , do the washing, then met her husband, just down the from me. With the laundry done. They never beet the boat!!!!❤😂❤😂❤😂❤
This was so cute! I loved Debbie’s reactions to the ice cream boat.
I am amazed that the US does not have more ice cream boats
"Bunting" is flags. In the Royal Navy a sailor who uses signal flags (think, the square flags used in sailing ships which the flag ship uses to send orders to the other ships) is known as a "bunting tosser".
I am British and live i Birmingham ( england ) , we have the oldest and longest stretch cannels , and i did not know about this ❤❤
I would love to see a video of Debbie learning on an ice cream boat.
Love Debbie’s reaction to ice cream and boats wish I could make your dreams come true xx❤
I must be really lucky to live near loads of canals as I didn't realise it would be a novelty to other people.
There would definitely be queues for your ice- cream boat Debbie.
If you like canals you've got to take a look at Birmingham, it was the centre of the UKs canal network and the way they've regenerated the canals in the city centre this past 30 years is fantastic, they have an ice cream boat from time to time or you could take a trip on a barge, one even serves a cream tea as you cruise along.
On the canal in our village there is a Pizza selling canal boat that travels up and down the canal, a traditional sweet selling canal boat & a number of cafe canal boats, all very popular on the Macclesfield canal.
That was just so sweet :-) I'd buy a 99 just to watch the joy on Debbie's ace as she made it!
Wow, thank you!
Poor Debbie. 😢 She should get more ICE CREAM 🎉. 😊
There is everything for sale on the narrowboats. Ice cream, stone baked pizzas (they were amazing), sweet shops, crafts, artwork, Christmas decorations etc. There was a dog grooming boat that we used to see quite often.
If you can get it on land you can get it on the canal.
I thought about doing my art from ours but you need a licence to trade and I don't spend long enough on the boat.
I do know a lovely person who sells plant seeds and lives on a narrowboat
It was really Funny, ( sorry Debbie ). Your face would have lit up the Uk. HaHaHa. I love it ❤🍦🍨🍧🍦🍨🍧
"old speckled hen" is actually a name of a lager here in the UK girls. Love your work, especially the one who sounds like Tina dandridge from the agp show
the boats also travel around they have to move after a set amount of time, also you have to remember when these boats were originally built they were for commerce and didnt have the long cabins on them only a short one, the rest was open for coal and other goods... some didnt have any cabin at all, they only changed them when trucks were built and took most of the trade which was faster...
Probably the last Sunshine in Britain since the video was made. Summer has got lost !
Morning ladies. You need to watch the Trooping of the Colours which is on Sat 15th June.
You could have an ice cream boat in the summer and a mobile hairdressing boat in the winter! A lovely way to see the country though. I love rum n raisin and mint choc chip.
Great video as always. I would definitely buy ice cream from Debbie. I think she should call her boat Iceinatti. My favourite flavour is mint chocolate chip 😋🍦🍨🍦🍨🍦🍨
My Dad used to have a boat on these waterways. Went with him on a three day trip. When we finished my mum picked me up and it only took us 20’mins to drive back to where we started 😂 it’s certainly for those that like things at a slow pace.
As a child in the UK I remember my parent's buying my Bro and I an Icecream from a man on a bike with a chest full of Icecream on the front then he'd cycle down the Beach further to the next spot Oh the lovely memories.
Just a little snippet of information Bunting goes back to the 17th century when it was used to send messages to other ships in the Royal Navy & the person responsible for the bunting was called a Bunt or Bunter. ❤️🇬🇧
Ah interesting, very local to me. In fact I used to live in Leighton buzzard. The canals over that way are lovely, you can walk/cycle the length of them and there are some lovely pubs along the way 😊
I used to live on a canal boat. I've never had so many injuries 😂 I moved off when I was 5 minutes from sinking in a tidal lock. Vanilla ice cream all the way at Debbie's Cones
You two make my day. You’re both so funny I laughed so much, thank you. If you want the most relaxing holiday ever trust me a narrowboat on the canals is great but best of all is definitely the Norfolk Broads. It’s amazing to be lulled to sleep by the waves lapping gently and waking up to the sound of ducks and swans tapping their beaks on the side of the boat is wonderful. Out of season is best or it can be like a motorway of boats. 😊
I can confirm it's a lovely way to travel, we owned boats one of many great memories
Jen, Geoff Marshalls friend. You want a series to watch, "All the stations"!
My father used to be an ice cream man.
There are restaurants where you can make your own whippy ice cream.
There are a few boats in Stratford-upon-Avon that sell ice cream.
We have a candy boat that visits every month "floating sweet shop" also one selling dog treats and a canal boat cafe selling ice creams.
I’ve never seen Debbie pause one of the videos so much 😂
Well, ya know why 😍😍
Oh wow, that was such fun. I'm also an ice cream fanatic- maraschino cherry topped with roasted almond for me. Served in a waffle cone. ❤❤
Ice Scream. 😂 My favourite ice cream is vanilla whippy with chocolate flake, mint chocolate chip, fudge with fudge stick & bubble gum.
Amazing boat . We used to have ice-cream vans that came round our street it sold everything. My dog and cat always knew when it was coming my doy got a milky way and my cat had to get a packet of beef crisps 😂 ❤ from Scotland
I’m 57 British and I’ve never heard of an ice cream boat, but then again my home town isn’t near any canals, the only water near my home town is a thing called the river humber, but my local town center there’s an inlet from the humber and there’s a pub there called the barge and yes it’s literally what it sounds like a pub or bar if you like that on a boat
Say HI to everyone at The Globe Inn,Grand Union canal 😸🇬🇧
I loved seeing Debbie's face light up when she saw the ice-cream boat. My recent new favourite flavour ice- cream is cookie Dough. It use to be mint chocolate chip. That's my second favourite I also like Bubble gum flavour too.
I live in a small Scottish seaside town of around 12k inhabitants, up until the 80s our town had 3 ice cream factories! ran by some rather nice Italian families. Thankfully, one still exists. A large tub of ice cream is around double the cost of store bought Häagen-Dazs! but it's totally worth it as a treat, as there's literally nothing better than day fresh ice 🍦 cream! There's no canal boats, but we still have a few old, ornate Victorian ice cream kiosks dotted along the promenade.
Awwwww Debbie ur toooooooo cute look at yir wee face 🥰🏴
Very unusual leisure even for us Brits too!
One of my best friends lives on a canal boat....its the best life ❤❤❤
My typical ice cream would be a waffle cone ice cream with strawberry juice and a flake. In the summertime a tray of profiteroles in ice cream
Awesome video. 😇 I'm from Hull (humberside) in the u.k, I've lived in England my whole life & didn't know this boat existed. Where I've lived we've only had ice cream vans. My favourite ice cream has always been vanilla. I'm a simple girl. But i do love vanilla ice cream with different things in it, like we have oreo ice cream, flake ice cream with small chunks of flake in it, stuff like that, so not totally pain & boring.
Ohh one thing, we've just had come out in the shops recently is ice cream & chocolate bars, which are chocolate orange flavoured. I absolutely love chocolate orange, so they're my favourite. We've also got crunchie ice cream cones (I have three left in my fridge now) And they are amazing!! They have chocolate ice cream, crunchie bar honeycomb & popping candy, which is a new experience in an ice cream! I've only ever had popping candy on it's own growing up in the 80's/90's. Never in an ice cream. It's quite unique & awesome!
After all this talk of ice creams, I'm kinda tempted to go get a crunchie ice cream out of the fridge, even though it's a little cold this morning. lol 😀
I live in the uk and I’ve never seen an icecream boat but I’d love to see one in person 🎉❤🎉❤
What!? Please go find one for me. 😊
‘Debbie’s Cups & Cones’ Cornish Strawberry Ripple is my favourite
My favourite Ice Cream from an Ice Cream van is a twin ice cream cone, with crushed nuts, chocolate sauce and 2 Flakes.
My favourite Ice cream from an Ice cream shop/parlour, Rum and Raisin Ice Cream.
Hello from the UK, very much enjoyed the content and the enthusiasm! I lived on a canal boat years ago and you are so right about the relaxing pace of life. Usually your speed of travel is slower than walking so you don't really have much choice but to relax! The painted metal ware is part of a long tradition of canal folk art with regional variations, a rich history and respected Artists from the past until the modern day, it's an interesting part of canal boat history. Good luck in your quest to get an ice cream boat and the pup cone idea was inspired! Best wishes.
I was still asleep when this Video went up, Late to bed last night, real life things happening.
Debbie, you are so cute. How excited you are over ice cream is super endearing. I mean, I get it. I totally get it. But it’s just too cute to see. And the love on Natasha’s face when looking at Debbie as she’s excited by the ice cream is so beautiful to watch. Love you both so much. Much love from England x
We have our canal gala this Saturday at the Lock works Bradley WV14 (Black Country) it is the last remaining part of the Brindley loop and is where Iron Master James Wilkinson made and floated the first iron boat, thats right, all future steel ships from the smallest ferry to an Aircraft carrier started from a canal barge in Bradley almost in the middle of England about 100 miles from the nearest coast.
The lock works was aldo where the first bomb landed killing an old couple during a Zeppelin raod during the first world war, there is a plaque commemorating this.
Jen has a great train/travel blog channel, well worth a view😀
Our Pizza Hut restaurants have an ice cream factory so you can make unlimited 99 style ice cream. Fun fact, Margaret Thatcher invented soft scoop ice cream when she worked for Walls.
Pizza hut hands down has the best ice cream ever! 👌👌👌
Debbie was so cute in that video
I've absolutely loved this reaction. I've never seen a canal boat market. I've been trying ask Debbie about setting up a icecream cave but wow Debbie we both need go into business together selling icecream on a canal boat 😂 let's do it.
Living on canal boats is becoming more appealable these days, due to the cost of living. Many people now are discovering the freedom of this type of living, and create new businesses from this lifestyle choice. It just looks so idyllic, but it also comes with the engine costs, boat upkeep and moorings for it, so you do have to be prepared for this. I don't think you would find that any canal boater would go back to living on dry land again given the choice. I would love to find out if it's something for me, but don't think I will ever get the chance to try now. Good luck to you finding the canal boats when you visit England ladies.
Getting stung by nettles, then look for dock leaves (which usually grow in close proximity) & crush them & rub into the nettle stings to reduce the pain they cause. Not a cure but they do help, sometimes the ancient remedies are the only ones immediately available when you are in the woods.
