We are rarely speechless but for the first couple minutes of this video, we couldn't find words! St. Ives is absolutely GORGEOUS! With beaches reminiscent of the Caribbean, this place absolutely stunned us! We certainly don't think of turquoise waters and white sandy beaches when thinking of the United Kingdom! We are really excited to share this with our American friends and family! Let us know if this video did St. Ives justice. We LOVED it!! Thank you SO much for watching! oh yeah....St Ives, great place to go, but it does get very crowded in peak season and what out for the gulls when you get you fish and chips from the harbour takeaway (some of the best F&C, but buy it and then walk away somewhere to eat it)
This is the problem with the advent of the internet and platforms such as RUclips, people are now starting to realise what England and the United Kingdom is like as a tourist destination, we have managed to keep our little country a secret for centuries but now it seems the the cat is out of the bag and everybody wants to come here😊 lol oh well I suppose you're all welcome see you when you get here after all we were brought up properly to share with our friends, just like all well brought up children😊
St ives do new years eve spectacularly!! The whole town is fancy dress and it is PACKED and full of atmosphere... it was recently rated the 2nd best place i the UK for new years eve (1st was edinburgh)
St Ives suffered from the same thing that happened in many pretty places in the UK. Rich people from London and other cities bought property to have holidays in, and rent out. This caused a lack of affordable and available housing for people growing up in those areas. Some areas have tried to put restrictions on outsiders buying in if they are not planning to live full time. It's sort of understandable. We would all like a nice place to live, but if your money comes from being a complete "banker" in the city, what do you do? X
I have to say that St Ives is maybe one of my favourite places on the English mainland. I spent a week there in a bed and breakfast place high up on the hill that overlooked the surfing beach (that's Porthmeor beach). BUT, if you liked the look of the sea and the beaches there then you have to look at the Scilly Isles at some time, well worth the ferry from Penzance or the short flight out that goes from a couple of places
The cornwall housing crisis is a situation where a lot of people from outside Cornwall are buying up homes and turning them into holiday homes they rent out to holiday makers at a premium rate. This is happening on a huge scale which leaves local people literally unable to find a home in the area. Young people from the area are particularly finding it very difficult to get on the property ladder as all the affordable homes are now holiday lets.
It is all part of the societal move as part of the 15 minute cities, they are not only cutting cities in major areas up into 15 minute cities, they will soon start removing people from out of the 0 It is intended to re-wild areas, in fact huge swathes of land so that normal people can’t and don’t live there. That is part to 15 minutes city system
Where I lived some landowners were given permission to develope tiny stone terraces that fit into the local architectural vernacular. Almost impossible to get in a National Park. The proviso was they could only rent to locals with priority given certain professions. Rural workers were to be given top priority, teachers and there was another category but I cannot remember it. The rent was also controlled and affordable. I know management costs were covered by a charity. I know My friend was lucky to get one as she did not strictly fall into the category when she was investigated as she had already retired 4 weeks prior. If there is a will there is a way. Only if you vote in people who will do it.
@@maxmoore9955 I saw something on the news just yesterday about measurements the government are bringing in to control the buying of homes in holiday hotspots and locals being priced out of an area.
Happening in many areas. Problem is they are all empty in the winter. Nearly ghost towns. Local businesses suffer from this to. I know many councils are talking of doubling the council tax on these holiday homes. Will it help ???
Cornwall at its summer best. I was in Cornwall this March 2023 for a fortnight, and I saw the other side of the coin. Visited the fishing village of Polperro went up on the coast path above tha village, not far very real chance of being blown off. Sat on a sheltered seat and watch huge breakers crashing onto the rocks below and the spray reaching me on the cleft path above. Very yery spectacular, powerful and dangerous
Your appreciation for the UK has actually made quite a number of Brits sit up and take notice of our country! We become so used to it that we have a jaded view of things. It takes other nationalities to bring home to us how beautiful and varied the UK is and how grateful we should be. I don't live in UK anymore, but my heart will always be there, especially in the North.
The ten-minute train journey on the branch line from St Erth to St Ives has to be one of the most spectacular in the UK. The reveal as the line opens out onto the bay is simply breathtaking - and St Ives station is literally just above a beach!
Few people out there know how incredibly varied the landscape of Britain is. It has practically everything. Nice sandy beaches, rocky coasts, big cities, quaint villages, rolling green fields, forests, wild moorland, flatlands, mountains, highlands, beautiful islands. And that's just the land. Added to that is the long history, the varied cultures across different areas of England, Scotland and Wales, the huge variety of accents and even the languages. In such a small country it's pretty amazing.
@Barry Steven I can vouch for that. I know you meant all of the Island, but I was especially struck by the radically different scenery and how quickly it can change in the West Country. I’ve only been to Cornwall once, but I took the bus from Victoria Station to Penzance at the Western tip, incredible. Just the variety of scenery you encounter traveling across Cornwall from the time you cross the Tamar into the Duchy till you get to the other end is phenomenal. I’ll never forget looking through the windows as we drove into Bodmin Moor on a sunny late afternoon. The bleak barren landscape looked like parts of the Western US. I mean if the Brits ever decided to make a Western in their country, I think Bodmin Moor would fit the bill. Then on to so many beautiful villages with cottages built of that amazing Cornish stone. Brilliant yellow Gorse bushes blooming in the sun, just amazing. And passing seaside towns with stunning bays and coves and mountains descending to the beaches. Words fail me trying to describe the beautiful, mystical charm of Cornwall. You’ll have to go and see it yourself N & D.
If you're interested in seeing more around Cornwall, there's also The Minack Theatre at Porthcurno, an open air theatre on the edge of a cliff, which is near Land's End. My family are Cornish and I spent almost every childhood summer in some part of Cornwall. It's a shame that none of them can afford to buy homes in the area due to the housing crisis, but it's still a beautiful part of the country.
Yes, any performances at The Minack are a fabulous experience with the backdrop of the sea. Agree, it's a total shame that the locals can't afford to buy homes there. We stayed at Zennor a few times and walked along the coast to St Ives - stunning walk in sea mist!
So in places like Cornwall, Devon, the cotswolds and the Lake District, the houses used to be cheap and we’re bought out as second homes or holiday lets, which has driven prices up exponentially, while local incomes are really low. Cornwall is actually one of the most deprived areas of the country, with huge numbers of people either unemployed, on very low incomes or seasonal work, while the property prices are some of the highest in the UK. I was raised in the Jurassic coast in East Devon and we have the same issue. I could never afford to live there! The South Hams in south Devon is somewhere where every other house is well over a million but local people don’t earn that sort of income.
i used to live in the South Hams and when i sold my house there in 2010 it was for 3 times what i'd paid for it a dozen years before.. and most of the ppl coming to view were private landlords . i sold it to a young couple expecting their first child , they were getting help from their parents to buy as well as mortgage from bank.
Rock is lovely in Cornwall ,also in Devon Salcombe Bigbury Dartmouth where the Queen 1st met the Duke of Edinburgh at Dartmouth college Croyde , Staunton Sands beautiful for surfing &Clovelly a privately owned village going down to a little fishing village.
Yup, my mum lives in Plymouth, and the rent and even the water rates are some of the highest in the UK. That on top of the fact that Cornwall has the worst road and rail infrastructure in England too.
West over the sea from Cornwall.......the last outpost....The Scilly Isles !.....GB at Sea . You will be AMAZED....palm trees, beaches.. gorgeous ! Not what you expect...!......Better....!
Tourists go to London and not St. Ives because of the journey time. Heathrow to London is 30 minutes on the train, Heathrow to St.Ives is 6 hours on the train or 5 hours in the car. 2nd/holiday homes are a massive issue for the Southwest, out of season coastal towns have a fraction of the people there, no employment or industry and house prices that the locals cannot afford. In the summer though, the tourists bring in the economy - it's love/hate. St. Ives is amazing though, the north Cornish coast is mind-blowing. You should check out South Devon next, it's worth a visit on the way down.
If I can be permitted a brief snug moment! I live ten minutes away. Yes - it's hell for half the year, and I'm pleased I don't actually live in the town. Even in summer, however, it's relatively peaceful in the early hours of the morning when all the "emmets" are yet to arrive. Great to wander around as the shops and restaurants get ready to open. The guy that did the previous video was obviously just filming his vacation. He didn't come far enough west to the Penwith Peninsula. St Ives is close to Lands End. A further 20 miles west across the sea are the Isles of Scilly, which are even more tropical. Worth a reaction. I'd better tidy the guest room!
Used to love st Ives but it’s become a tourist hell whole, can’t literally move along the street in summer time and have no idea why cars are allowed to drive all along the main front pedestrian street. Unless you get there at 8 in the morning there’s no parking. We’re priced out there fish and chips is extortionate only rich Londoners can afford the restaurants and expensive shops. I find even places like Lyme Regis the parkings £19 a day during the school holidays making it out of reach for many families the beach is no longer free.
I live in Exeter. It's not that far from St. Ives. I've been there, it's beautiful. Believe it or not the night life is good there too. I wanna go to some US beaches.. :)
I go to Cornwall every year for the past 38 years. It’s beautiful, but avoid in the 6 weeks Sumer holidays. Go in September when the kids have all gone back to school.
As a London lad I did not get to go to St. Ives until I was 17. A week after I passed my driving test! In 1974. I’ve only been back three or four times, but now I live in the north of England! It’s a much longer drive for us! But I still love Cornwall, the best! you need to go! So enjoy yourself girls when you come over. PS I love your reviews. ❤ ❤
Devon & Cornwall are beautiful. One of my favourite places is a tiny hamlet in Cornwall called Combe. Just a few beautiful old houses with the wonderfully dramatic sea at the bottom of the lane and stunning countryside around. Try to stay in the Landmark Trust homes there. The Trust restores amazing and unusual properties and rents them out. Not cheap but we’ll worth the experience. They’re all over the UK and a few in the rest of Europe.
You two are truly gorgeous people. I just love how naturally cheesy you are. Please never change. Love from the New Forest. Which you should also check out
As an Englishman approaching 50, all of my childhood holidays were in Cornwall. My memories were of a place indistinguishable from heaven (when the weather was good - it’s not always sunny!). Returned there in recent years with my half Catalan children, used to overseas holidays and Mediterranean islands and fell in love all over again. I was so worried my memories were nostalgia but it really is so beautiful. My children also loved it and were hardly out of the (cold) water. Thanks for sharing. You’re so right - London is awesome but if you only visit London in the UK you miss sooo much.
I live in Cornwall... Ten minutes drive from Eden... St Ives... Port Issac... Portscatho... So many beautiful places to visit... St Michael Mount... The list goes on and on 😉👌
The reason for the wind is partly that we’re an island so all of our beaches are coastal rather than on any lakes as some are in the US, but also because we’re further north than the US - Cornwall is parallel with northern Newfoundland in Canada - it’s easy to forgot how northerly the UK is. And the further north (or south) you get from the equator the stronger the winds get
Cornwall (or Kernow) also gets the full force of the Atlantic winds. There's a dramatic transition much further east near Weymouth - climb Chesil beach and you'll feel the difference. There's a reason why St Ives points east.
The UK is a relatively small island surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, the North Sea, the Irish Sea, the English Channel. Our beaches are often windy so that you can feel cold on a hot summer day whilst getting sunburnt.
Hi there Natasha and Debbie! Another gallery that they failed to mention was The Barbara Hepworth Museum. She was a sculptor who lived in St Ives from the 1930s til her death in 1975.
I could definitely recommend anywhere in Cornwall and Devon for a beautiful holiday. There is so much to see in Britain, although visiting London is a must, but so much more to be seen. The Cotswolds , the Lake District etc, etc!
Hi Natasha and Debbie, I spent a few days in St Ives last year, it was lovely. My father (when he retired and moved down to Cornwall in the 90s) passed away last April. Following the funeral I left the gathering in his village pub and drove south to the coast, taking myself down to St Ives for a quiet break to contemplate and celebrate his life. It helped to 'send him on his way' as I sat by the sea and toasted his memory with a few drinks, nice food and those views.
St Ives is a beautiful little place, just came back from a week in Cornwall with the kids, stayed a couple of miles away from St Ives in Marazion which is a lovely place, it's where St Michaels Mount is!
The town on the hill is large. And very steep indeed😮😮😮 Frist I seen it I had to drive up it😮😮 I never forgotten how big and stick in my mind. the hill
Another few places within this part of England would be The Scilly Isles (pronounced silly) which are an Archipelago of islands just off the Cornish Coast. Ferries from Penzance (2hrs 45mins) or flights on a helicopter or little Sky bus from Lands End, Penzance, Newquay or Exeter will take you across in a shorter time (between 20 mins to an hour). It was fun to see Debbie's face light up when she saw the ice cream van and then the shop. So glad you can see beyond the lure of London which has it's merits but I know where I would rather be and see and I live in the UK! Hope you get to visit and don't forget to have a Cornish Pasty, Cream Tea and some Cornish Ice Cream a long the way.
It's so lovely seeing our country through your eyes. It makes us realise how much we take things for granted. Cornwall is so gorgeous and has hundreds of cute bays, coves and beaches to explore.
The beach at St Michaels Mount is fabulous. We went in summer and it was fairly empty, wide , open and shallow for quite away. And you get this amazing view of a castle in the middle of sea.
I was lucky getting the tides right for my visit there, I was 8 months pregnant at the time, but this didn’t stop me walking across the beautiful beach to the mount and back, it was well worth it
If you’re in Cornwall and want to visit St Ives, I recommend taking the train from Truro to St Erth and then changing there for a train to St Ives. That last leg, and the train is charming.
The Cornwall coastline is stunningly beautiful. The Atlantic side in particular is well known here for surfing. Crazily busy in the summer months however.
St.Ives, Cornwall is now on my list of places to visit in the UK. It looks like an inspirational place to explore. Thanks so much, this really made me smile 😊 ❤
You should check out the Duddon Estuary & Valley as well as the beaches around the Millom are of Cumbria, very nice area and not packed full of tourists yet still part of the Lake District National Park
You definitely should, I couldn’t of had a better up bringing in the 80s and 90s growing up it’s definitely gotten busier in the last decade but it’s still an amazing place to stay
I’ve been there many times. It is a complete tourist trap, but you can see why. It’s packed in the summer so I prefer to visit one of the many other equally pretty beaches in the county. Mousehole is a favourite little fishing village of mine. Cornwall’s coast is stunning when the sun is out.
Visited St Ives for decades. Very touristy now in the summer time. Easiest way to access is to get a train from St Erth. Lovely short coastal ride finishing behind Porthminster Beach. You will see beaches where they filmed Pirates of the Caribbean. My favourite beach is Porthcurno on the southern tip not far from Lands End. The Minak Theatre, cut into the cliff face overlooks the beach. Stunning.
I walked the entire south-west coast of England (630 miles) over the last couple of years. It’s stunning the whole way - hundreds of cliffs, coves, beaches, pubs, lighthouses and pretty villages. I feel so privileged to have seen it with my own eyes. Love your videos. Keep posting and come and visit!
From St Ives the open top double deck bus runs hourly in the summer (less in the winter) right along the coast through Zennor, St Just, and Sennen Cove to Lands End, then on to Penzance via Porthcurno. On a glorious day it is a stunning journey.
That brought tears to my eyes. Whisked back over 50 years to camping holidays as a child. Carbis bay was our favourite for spending the day on the beach. Wonderful memories of the area. We have just spent a few days in Whitby. What a wonderful revelation that area was. From the Yorkshire moors to the harbour town, the birthplace of Dracula!
I am lucky enough to visit Cornwall 3 or 4 a year and can confirm the sea is that colour on a sunny day. St.Ives is also the home of a family of seals that come towards the beach or waddle up on to the sands and rocks when quiet. On the other side of the headland is the surfers beach.
I think the housing crisis in Cornwall is the same as up here in the lake District. Rich holiday makers buy a second home to holiday in and it stays empty most of the year. This puts the price up of houses and Locals cannot find or afford a house.
Have you looked at Portmeirion in Wales yet? If not, I suggest you put it on your 'to do' list. Also, did you know that Cornwall has its own language? Similar to Welsh, which is why some of the place names can be hard to pronounce properly.
Love you both - always so generous with your praise! St Ives is really stunning - I’ve been there on holiday for the last of years! As with the rest of the U.K. the weather can vary, but it’s absolutely stunning!
I’ve stayed in St Ives on holiday and it’s beautiful. I often stay in Penzance and take the 20 minutes train to St Ives. One of the best rail journeys ever. A view down a beach which looks like it goes on for miles.
Love watching you two and your reactions to this wonderful country that i'm luckily enough to call home ..... and you have the right idea that Britain isn't just London ..... I'm a Yorkshire lad and proud of it ..... I hope you have a great time when you get here and if you want my advice come up here in the North , Yorkshire , Northumberland , Cumbria, Lancashire and Scotland
I live in the South West of England just above Devon and Cornwall. It’s the best holiday destinations in the U.K. plenty of surfing, great beaches and very expensive homes. We love it.
I was lucky enough to spend a lot of my childhood summers down near St Ives, absolutely beautiful place but gets very busy! Mousehole nearby is a small fishing village & very cute. I’ve not been yet but the Scilly Isles just off Cornwall look amazing x
St Ives is stunning. Stayed at a campsite on top of the hill and walked along the coast path into the town each day. Easily the best place in Cornwall and highly recommended.
Disagree but understand your view, holiday makers only discover 5% of Cornwall’s beauty because they all flock to the common spots. So much of our homeland remains secretly kept to ourselves 😉
My wife and i spent many a happy time in st ives, Kids playing on the beach in October with the weather as sunny as in your video. there's a pub on the sea from that does great Sunday carvery's if it's still there. from the car park at the start of the video you can see some small busses which you can take to get to the town and also return to the car park to save you from walking back up the hill. (a life saver) beautiful little town, once you have seen st Ives you would not want to leave.
Have visited Cornwall many times, especially St. Ives. There are also plenty of little hidden bays and places of interest if you venture off the main roads and just drive the B roads, so much fun! Another great place is the Minack Theatre, definitely worth a look. 🥰
Cornwall is my favourite area of the UK. When younger our holiday was normally spent there, each time tried somewhere new, it just didn't have the appeal. My parents ended up retiring there. This video shows just one of the larger towns, so many more beaches, hidden coves and cute fishing ports. It has a special charm.
Living on the NW coast of Ireland.. I can say that most sandy beaches, especially with a gradual slope out(some have a shelf close to shore), look like that on a sunny day, it's not just "tropical" beaches. The wind breakers are less for the wind, more for the sand that it carries, no one likes sand in their eyes/mouth/food.. South of england in general gets quite a bit of sun vs the rest too and FYI London gets much less rain than NY or other european cities that are much farther south, there is a rain shadow on the SE of england
Another beech to look at, is called Sennen Cove and then, have a look at Mousehole pronounced by the locals mouzole 😉 In the late sixties I lived down there and a cousin had a hotel which I think has been pulled down and is the main car park on the top of the hill! At St.Ives! Now! Mousehole is where the R.N.L.I Lifeboat got lost in a rescue and all the crew lost their lives we used to know them all! It was a very sad and tragic event! R.I.P The crew of the Penlee Lifeboat! 😢
This shows St Ives at it's very best in perfect weather. Just checked the weather records and in summer there's an average 8 or 9 rainy days per month i.e. about a third of the time. Also not very hot. Maximum 71 degrees (July) with an average temperature of 63. I once camped in Cornwall and it rained for the entire week!
St Ives really is very pretty. I went there with my mum and dad many long years ago, and I can still remember how bright and wonderful everything looked. It sounds odd, but the quality of the light is exceptional over there. Something which, no doubt, helps to attract painters and sculptors. Incidentally, if you like the look of St Ives, you would probably enjoy visiting Tenby in Pembrokeshire, which is similarly unspoiled and idyllic. Check it out. You won't be disappointed.
Most of Cornwall and Devon especially the coastal towns and villages are amazing. The only downside is many get crazy busy in the summer months. The narrow roads going to the many places in Cornwall and Devon get very busy so train is the way to go if you can.
Been to St Ives on holiday a couple of times. Once while camping nearby, and another time as a day trip - they have dolphin watching boat tours too! Very cute little town and worth a visit for sure! If you wanted more Cornwall content, might I suggest Tintagel. It's one of my favourite places ever to visit in Cornwall. They have tons of little shops with souvenirs and knick-knacks and gems. They also have huge cornish pasties in one of the shops, and you can see them being made! Besides the village itself, you can get tickets to see Tintagel castle, which is where King Arthur is said to have been conceived and born. There's also a little beach and Merlin's cave down towards the castle, which is where Merlin supposedly lived.
There are loads of even more beautiful beaches in southwest england some isolated and unknown. Some truly breathtaking. St ives is one of best known. Blackpool sands in south Devon also breathtaking
I am glad you were more impressed with Cornwall this time! On a warm sunny day, it can compete with most places in the world! And no, it's not always windy when it's sunny! I live about 15 miles from St Ives, and was born in Cornwall. Pretty much all of our prettiest places have become very touristy, however, still worth a visit. I would also recommend, Falmouth for independent shops, Tintagel, and The Lizard (the most southerly point in England) for spectacular sea views and cliffs. You can also get to see the Cornish Chough, which is a bird that re-introduced itself fairly recently, a black bird from the crow family, with pure black feathers, red legs and bright red bill. I don't have room in my house, but I do work in a local hotel. 🙂
The south coast of the UK is incredibly varied and each area has its charms. Cornwall is definitely in top three along with Devon and Dorset. If you get the chance check out the jurassic coast in Dorset around Poole and Swanage. Great vid guys.
St Ives is very seasonal. A lot of people work on zero hour contracts in the town because the companies can't guarantee hours during the quiet months. They get busy during school holidays, its also a popular honeymoon destination so they get semi decent traffic between April and September. Outside of the pandemic they do well around Christmas and new year as there's a big fancy dress thing that goes on on new years, the town gets closed off to traffic and is just full of people dressed up. They then do a firework display off of the pier. There are videos on RUclips showing it. People come from all over the world for it.
Been on holiday there a few times, staying so close to the beach front. Lovely walks and the train journey to St Ives is one of the best scenic journeys by trains.
Absolutely loved this video, as a UK citizen I'm quite ashamed that Ive been all over the world so many times to the Caribbean as my favourite beaches are there , but never to Cornwall St Ives!! I really need to go it looks absolutely stunning, the UK is such a beautiful country we are really so lucky 🇬🇧❤️
The whole of the South-West coastline of England is gorgeous - and it continues to be so all the way up to the southern-most coastline of Wales. There's a reason why we have a whole stretch of the South coast nicknamed the "English Riviera" ... there are even palm trees growing along the front and within the little towns and villages! Gives off a _very_ Caribbean vibe, as you said! It's a bit farther East along the coast, between Dartmouth and Exmouth - so that's another area I would strongly encourage you to visit!
Regarding the coastline yes English Riviera is a good name but the quality of life is pretty shocking really and some places look pretty grim! Most locals are struggling and quite a few places are very run down due to lack of jobs and the rich people from the city buying up all the property … it’s shocking really that the councils have allowed this to happen. Now with the catering Industry and hospitality suffering the atmosphere is slowly changing. All these rich people who have homes down there need to spend some of their money on maintaining the external appearance of the towns in the south west because the locals can’t afford it. This whole part of the country needs a spruce up; houses need painting, gardens need looking after, homelessness needs to be resolved, take away food and restaurant food needs to improve and be more healthy and appealing. Instead of continuing building the HS2 train (which really only will benefit commerce and corporations coming out of London) our old train connections need to be rebuilt to reduce traffic …. car bans need to be set in place in parts of the South West in conjunction with this. How do all these people in high positions get their jobs? The mentality of the rich is to only think about themselves! They need to be investing into areas where they have destroyed local people’s lives.
Sometimes it's breezy , and some days are calm , but is always warm to swim in the summer and the water is so clear , and there is ice cream shops and a lovely fish and chip restaurant on the harbour front x
There are problems with holiday homes in many places around the coast of England and Wales. People who live in big cities will buy houses for exorbitant prices which put the prices up and locals can't afford to buy, therefore end up leaving. Cornwall is stunning.
I absolutely adore Cornwall and have been travelling & holidaying there for the past 23 years and been to nearly every beach in my kayak. I am in scotland now roaming about alone, free & single in my motorhome and dont have to worry about accomodation.
St ives do new years eve spectacularly!! The whole town is fancy dress and it is PACKED and full of atmosphere... it was recently rated the 2nd best place i the UK for new years eve (1st was edinburgh)

Yes, I agree the landscape as I remember so interesting and colourful. Then you get the sight of the first blue green waters of the coast, wow!
Done that journey lots of times and get excited when you see carbis bay.. beautiful ❤️
Did that train journey last week. Truly beautiful!
We did that back in 2017 and my eyes were like saucers at the landscape around us.
Forgetting Northern ireland, that has one of the best landmarks in The UK
Visit soon though because the accents are disappearing.
@@IanPritchard not true at all.
@@alexrafe2590 I can only assume you fell asleep on the bus when you went through Devon because it's a lot nicer than Cornwall.
The Minack Theatre is incredible, as well as the nearby beach Pedn Vounder ❤
The Minack is a great place to visit. I was lucky enough to see a rehearsal going on when I visited.
I heard a Cornish Estate Agent on the BBC say 75% of Fowey is holiday homes and therefore empty in winter.
i used to live in the South Hams and when i sold my house there in 2010 it was for 3 times what i'd paid for it a dozen years before.. and most of the ppl coming to view were private landlords . i sold it to a young couple expecting their first child , they were getting help from their parents to buy as well as mortgage from bank.
Gloucestershire here, not a chance of getting a decent property at a reasonable price 😩
Don't let the Scillonians hear you call them that; it's the Isles of Scilly. ;-)
“Emmets” are called “grockles” in Devon 😂 and same for me for half the year
Used to love st Ives but it’s become a tourist hell whole, can’t literally move along the street in summer time and have no idea why cars are allowed to drive all along the main front pedestrian street.
Just up from St Ives there are stunning beaches at Hayle and Gwithian. Also Godrevy is like a spiritual place.
If you only visit London you’ve missed the best bits!
Natasha and Debbie, you should watch the other video CJ explores did on the Scottish highlands.
Another good video, ladies.
Great storm watching in Cornwall huge waves !
Nice cottage,a log fire and a nice single malt ❤
I could definitely recommend anywhere in Cornwall and Devon for a beautiful holiday. There is so much to see in Britain, although visiting London is a must, but so much more to be seen. The Cotswolds , the Lake District etc, etc!
The UK has some truly stunning coastline. From Cornwall and Devon, all around Wales and up to Scotland. On a nice sunny day, there is nowhere better.
Cornwall and Devon can look like that but is very weather dependant. That being said I love the coast there. Dorset also has a nice coast line
I have been here so many times from my children being tiny to adults so many happy memories stunning
St Ives is a beautiful little place, just came back from a week in Cornwall with the kids, stayed a couple of miles away from St Ives in Marazion which is a lovely place, it's where St Michaels Mount is!
The Minack is an absolute must. The view is incredible and the beach next to it is sublime!
Wish they could have shown more of the town but it was still so amazing
Every British beach I've ever been to you can usually hire wind breakers for the day from the beach shop. 😊
It's so lovely seeing our country through your eyes. It makes us realise how much we take things for granted. Cornwall is so gorgeous and has hundreds of cute bays, coves and beaches to explore.
I have family in St.Ives. An Uncle was a volunteer for the RNLI. He got me my first summer job helping look after some pleasure boats.
The beach at St Michaels Mount is fabulous. We went in summer and it was fairly empty, wide , open and shallow for quite away. And you get this amazing view of a castle in the middle of sea.
I was lucky getting the tides right for my visit there, I was 8 months pregnant at the time, but this didn’t stop me walking across the beautiful beach to the mount and back, it was well worth it
We used to get an amphibious craft to take us to the castle off season and have a one on one guide. The only real way to see it. Well worth the visit.
ALL the coasts of Dorset, Devon, Cornwall and Somerset are beautiful. Look up The Minak Theatre, its surreal. You two are a riot!
St.Ives, Cornwall is now on my list of places to visit in the UK. It looks like an inspirational place to explore. Thanks so much, this really made me smile 😊 ❤
Let's meet there! 😉
St Ives is very nice, but it's busy even out of season. Peak holiday season it is unbearably congested.
Just a 2hour drive from London are stunning beaches sandbanks and Bournemouth x
I’ve been there many times. It is a complete tourist trap, but you can see why. It’s packed in the summer so I prefer to visit one of the many other equally pretty beaches in the county. Mousehole is a favourite little fishing village of mine. Cornwall’s coast is stunning when the sun is out.
Lots of wonderful light in Cornwall, lots of great artists go there for the quality light
Cornwall my most favourite place on earth
West Pembrokeshire is nice too. As well as amazing beaches, it is warm enough to have palm trees and vineyards.
Brilliant video, looks like a beautiful place to go 😊
Visited St Ives for decades.
Missed a trick there guys. You have to watch the sunset on Porthmeor beach with a drink in your hand. Just beautiful
Cornwall is beautiful and the sea looks incredible, unfortunately the water is freezing
I think the housing crisis in Cornwall is the same as up here in the lake District. Rich holiday makers buy a second home to holiday in and it stays empty most of the year. This puts the price up of houses and Locals cannot find or afford a house.
Off summer everything is gorgeous. I lived in a town called Par nr St Austell, for me the best time of the year was walking our puppy to the beach
You can avoid parking issues by using the train that runs all along the coast and ends right in the middle of town. Stunning views from the train.
there is also a bus from the car park to the town center
Its a branch line though meaning you'll need to change at St Erth from the mainline.
I avoided the parking by swimming from Carbis bay. Had a drink and swam back
@@dadcanufixit I was only ever going to the nick for work so a warrant card worked too.
I rate the train journey as the best in the whole UK
I’m heading there in June for our summer holiday. It’s about a 6-7 hour drive for us. 🥰
When my kids were little I used to go to St Ives with all my friends and their kids. The beach was so safe and we had great fun.
So funny you are watching this, I only recently saw a film on St Ives, and we decided to go there very soon, it looks stunning.
St Ives is one of my favourite places, it's beautiful. We went there this summer for a week. Well worth the trip.
OMG, this is where I'm going this summer!!!! Love Cornwall for summer holidays :)
Most of Cornwall and Devon especially the coastal towns and villages are amazing. The only downside is many get crazy busy in the summer months. The narrow roads going to the many places in Cornwall and Devon get very busy so train is the way to go if you can.
I remember going St. Ives as a childhood destination for summer holidays in the late 70s early 80s, beautiful memories..
that lovely Chrystal clear water, even on a nice sunny day is absolutely freezing.
It was a good video with the hands-on experience paired with the drone footage. St Ive's looks beautiful!
St Ives looks beautiful ❤ love the video.
The south coast of the UK is incredibly varied and each area has its charms. Cornwall is definitely in top three along with Devon and Dorset. If you get the chance check out the jurassic coast in Dorset around Poole and Swanage.
Great vid guys.
I'm enjoying watching this from our holiday apartment overlooking Porthminster beach... as wonderful as it looks!
I used to holiday every year in Cornwall for 18 years. I will always think of it as my second home
Been on holiday there a few times, staying so close to the beach front. Lovely walks and the train journey to St Ives is one of the best scenic journeys by trains.
I go to St Ives for 3-4 weeks a year and have done for the past 28 years, and it's still not enough.
Caribbean is probably cheaper, as well as the nicer weather 😂
@@chrisnorman1902 Caribbean every time 😉
Literally going to St Ives in 3 weeks for a holiday. Haven’t been for many years, so should be nice! 🧡💚
You can add in Dorset and the Isle of Wight for lovely coastline.
This happens here in the Cotswolds too.
I absolutely adore Cornwall and have been travelling & holidaying there for the past 23 years and been to nearly every beach in my kayak. I am in scotland now roaming about alone, free & single in my motorhome and dont have to worry about accomodation.
St Ives is a truly beautiful place, like much of Cornwall, and is well known for its art scene, having a branch of the Tate Gallery located there.
All about the light. Wonderful for watercolour paintings
@@johnwelch5132 Pastel shades when the sun is shining bright.
And charges a hefty entrance price to see a load of unknown artists, when it's all free in London.
You’re most welcome to come to Cornwall and visit-just like many of your fellow Americans do.
scotland and cornwall have the most beautiful beaches. a lot of them are as beautiful as the beaches in the Caribbean, just without the palm trees.
60 yrs ago, St Ives was a great little town to spend a holiday as a child. Today, it's a jam-packed tourist trap from Easter to September.
Jam packed with cream on top
