The biggest victim here is China as they are highly dependent on MENA Oil. If Oil flows stop, China is not in a great spot. There are historical reasons for Egypt's lack of desire to be dragged into this, the Houthis are actually playing quite a smart gambit here as they know that due to the humanitarian disaster inside Yemen, the US and it's allies are going to avoid a full out conflict with them at all costs, and it's working, COSCO have now said they will be not be sending any of their ships to Israel.

this is not really happening. their supply lines are still strong via Europe. additionally, Zim, the Israeli shipping company was on the brink of bankruptcy and now it is trading at double price and higher margins. So they actually helped Israel with this move.
Stopping Suez Canal trade hurts Egypt way more than it hurts israel
I believe that 50% of Israel's economic losses are in the Red Sea because European and Asian ships pass through there.
In my personal belief, it did not affect the Israeli economy because ships heading to Israel would change their direction from the Red Sea and use the Cape of Good Hope.

When I saw Djibouti on the map I remembered China agreed a deal to build a navy base there, one of the few they operate internationally. You can see the strategic importance to China for the base there with those two canals accounting for 10-12% of international trade. I was wondering why the heck the US would invite China to be part of the naval coalition to confront the commercial shipping attacks, but now it makes sense since they literally have a naval base in the region. It's not in China's interest to project power in the region at an unstable time, I'm sure they don't want to risk negative opinion in their host region and expose their bases to routine attacks. But it begs the question, why the fk do they need a base there if they are unwilling to even engage rebels during missiles at commercial ships. Short-term, a Houthi "blockade" hurts the West, Europe in particular. But, the west also has the financial resources to adapt and diversify their energy sourcing. If this went on long enough, I imagine Europe would redirect their oil extraction investments and shipping efforts to North America, Venezuela/South America, and West Africa, at least until the Russo-Ukrainian War comes to an end and trade relations with Russia improve again. And as far as export goods from China and such, we already saw how COVID caused a scramble from everyone to re-develop locally sourced or regional production; this is just another justification to add to the pile. So, in the long-term, it makes the consistently-volatile middle-east an even less desirable transit point, diminishing its global relevance further and hurting the region more.
That doesn't work like that. American oil is very heavy, and it doesn't work very well for many things. When you develop your refineries and all the logistics, you make it according to specific oils types, and venezuelan American and those oils are very different.
The west will adapt for sure, but this will still add significant cost for the western economies, their efficiency will be reduced. I also wouldn't count on Venezuela for anything at the moment, not when Maduro and his Allies are still in power, plus neighboring Guyana is also at risk.

Whether the end of the Muscovite war against the US, Europe, and the "West" will improve European trade relations depends on who wins. If its the Muscovites, there will be no "trade". Europe will simply send every asset it has to the Muscovite Empire, i.e., Moscow, just like the Siberians have done for the past 200 years. If the West wins, then there is the possibility of trade with the Siberian Republics, the only part of the Muscovite Empire that produces anything of value to Europe.

Let's say that - hypothetically - the US loses its hegemony and military means. Would that lift pressure off of global political tensions, or spark a keg that causes conflicts globally? And to which degree would China fill that gap, given that it's become the second largest militaristic nation? I'm curious to see to which degree the US presence is keeping things 'under check' versus to which degree it's actually causing tensions.
On the china view while they do have the 2nd largest military they do not have a great navy and atm has a lot of internal problems
Multi polar world means that smaller states look out for their interests much more intensely. So things like Armenian-Azeri, Venezuela-Guyana, Ethiopia-Somalia will become more common. Add climate change fights over resources as well.
It will be much worse than it is now. Even with US dominance, look at what authoritarian states like Russia, Iran, Azerbaijan, Turkey, China and North Korea are doing.
I don't see the US losing its power and influence entirely. China doesn't have the global reach the US does, they make friends with tyrants and the corrupt, they don't spread their culture and beliefs like the US does. Sure, they could become a significant power in the regions where the US is hated. But I don't see China, at least not this version of China, ever being like the US. The US might be weakened but not lost.

Wouldn't surprise me if Yemen goes back to being 2 distinct governments. It wasnt that long ago that basically the same area still under control by the Yemeni government was the Aden Protectorate. It was just the 50s or 60s whenever half of Yemen stopped being a British protectorate and unified as a single nation.
Most Yemenis actually want to reunify hence the first unification. It's just that the religious and the political differences in the area just made it difficult to stay united.
