Look, and I know I'm not the only one who's going to say this...the entire season eight was the slow murder of game of thrones
100%
I’d argue season 7
If you think S08 was bad, but You loved S07, then you are just jumping on bandwagon.
Show died after s04.
S05 was bad.
S06 somehow managed to do well especially the last few episodes.
S07 and S08 were garbage
Agree. Bran as king was just to make sure the season was total crap.
That was the biggest WTF in the show, arya just popping out of nowhere, and killing the night king! And worst thing is, 8 seasons of build up for the nighwalkers being the final bosses of the series was just "kill the king and we win....literally!" We didnt see any of the kings or generals powers, they didnt do shit for the entire show, and while they did kill the dothraki, the dothraki come back in like the next episode or 2, so it's like nothing happened in the last 3 fucking episodes! Season 8 was just ridiculous, and the directors should be ashamed of what they made, hell give me millions of dollars, and a better team, and I'll make a way better season of GOT!
Tyrion: Who has a better story than Bran the Broken?
Me: Literally EVERYONE else.
Yeah no shite
Bran the broken has the lamest story
plus before he was all like"i cant be the lord of anything.."then later,
-you wanna be king?
"why do you think i came all this way"
?!? like what the F??
You know what he meant. He literally knew all the stories.
Hmmmmm...
It wasn’t the mother dying. It was suggested. It was robin and Barney breaking up and Ted returning to Robin. Since a large part of the show was about Ted finally giving up on Robin
Exactly this. A lot of the show taught us how Robin wasn't right for Ted, just like that one person you're pining over might not be right for you. It was a good message that they ruined.
All of this!
The how I met your mother ended just right both Ted and Robin got to pursue being happy with others and those relationships ran their course and then as was their habit they returned to each other as always
@@robertbarnes4666 That's the problem. They SHOULDN'T return to each other. That was a big fucking mistake. The whole show was demonstrating WHY they weren't right for each other and it even ruins Ted's decision not to pursue Robin when she was thinking of marrying Ted instead. Sure, it's sad that Tracy dies, but it's not made better when Ted decides to date Robin again. It is once again doomed for failure.
@@SB0083 just watched an episode of how i met your mother in which ted and robin promised to be each others back up spouse which is exactly what happened
How is Charlie’s death in Two and a Half Men, the example literally used in the thumbnail, only an honorable mention? It’s the biggest example of an exact moment that ruined a show I can think of!
I think it was because A) Most obvious moment and B) There was, unfortunately, a reason for it: His alcoholism got worse after he got out of Rehab and they had to fire him. They delayed it enough already, but it was seeping into production.
@@irrespondible I get that, but they even showed it in the thumbnail for God’s sake!
@@y2jfan462 Because everybody and their mother was gonna see it coming.
in HIMYM i had no problem with Tracy dying but the Robin "happy ending" did it for me. i still can't rewatch the end of the series because of it.
People really don't get the ending sadly.
Agreed
Totally. The show spent several seasons making you NOT want Ted and Robin to be together
I will watch all of it and stop the moment he says “and that kids is how I met your mother”. I never watch past that bc it would have been just fine if it had ended there.
For me it’s not necessary that Tracy died but moreso that it got a one sentence mention. We never see Ted or the kids mourn at all!
When Charlie Harper was killed off in Two And A Half Men that destroyed the entire show
It was Charlie Sheeb fault
And then they revealed he never actually died (which i knew they were gonna back out of the whole time)
i agree, but can't blame them with what charlie sheen did
Blame Chuck Lorre
It lost its humor without Charlie Sheen.
The exact moment that killed watch mojo when they started “if you like what you’re listening to...”
i always skip that and never look back
Agreed. Sound mojo (or whatever it's called) is stupid
😳🤣🤣🤣
Then stop watching
@@JameSeraphim You know people could like something but be critical of it right??
Wow, how is Happy Days not #1? They literally invented “Jumping the Shark”
That's what I thought!
I'm just watching this video after Watchmojo made the video about the "Top 10 TV Shows That Jumped The Shark"
Because the Jumping the shark moment happened in the middle of the show, not near the end: The stunt happened in Season 5 and the series ended in Season 11. In season 5, the show ended as number 2 in the yearly ranking (in Season 4, it was number 1), so it wasn't really dead after that stunt. Hell, the show didn't "die" until the final season and in fact, it ended season 9 still in the top 20 of all the shows in that year.
My guess is that one deserves its own video.
Because this is not moments shows "Jumped the Shark", these are the moments the series DIED. Jumping the Shark only means the sries reached an absurd moment, but series still live after that. The death of a series is when you actually remove your public.
How do you not mention Steve Carell leaving the Office? That is literally like one of the textbook examples of a show dying in front of your very eyes.
It was still a good show. Its finale was glorious.
@@22espec yeah but there was a NOTICEABLE decline.
Coby Yeah, but compared to the shows here in the list, The Office after Steve is prime time television.
Let's not forget how they ruin Andy
Because the show didnt die after carell left
The 'how did he do it' mystery of Sherlock faking his suicide had nothing to do with the decline in popularity. A lot of people weren't happy with so much of the plot of season three revolving around Mary, taking focus away from Sherlock and John's dynamic. And then John stayed with her after she shot Sherlock. But actually, season 4 was what really killed the show. John and Sherlock's chemistry went down the drain, John lost all likeability, and they jumped the shark with the final villain.
I agree. Sherlock went downhill after Series 3.
I'm not sure if Sherlock fell off but trying to explain things away in the age of pause rewind freeze frame it wasn't working. They cheated that explanation but it was clever writing those options like that. I liked Mary so much! They shouldn't have killed her.
Mary was a shit character, it was embarrassing to watch
I disagree. Sherlock died when it stopped being about these wacky characters solving mysteries, and started being about the characters, because they just weren't very interesting
It’s perfect be quiet
I'm surprised they didn't have Michael leaving the office. I watched the whole series multiple times but I know a lot of people felt it went downhill after he left.
@Chase the Vase Watch Mojo uploaded a “20 exact moments” video about 10 months after this one, correcting this obvious oversight
The moment the show was lost for me was when the Dothraki were still alive after they were CLEARLY annihilated by the dead army. Also, we deserved a Cersi and Daenerys final show down goddamn it.
Yes, that whole Dothraki plot was just plain weird. The two female leads not meeting was soooooo disappointing!!
Charlie sheen's death was the deal breaker
I loved two and a half men but after his death I couldn't bear to watch Ashton Kutcher or any other character in two and a half men
Definitely! I tried watching the first season without Charlie Sheen, but damn it was really bad.
God it was so hard to watch. Garbage af
Ashton Kutcher appears twice in this list. Coincidence? I don't think so.
@@SpikeTheWolf haha true that
@@maximefontaine7891 I think not
Two and. A half men ruined by charlie s death and ashton kutcher. Spot on
No cap
I pretty sure it was way before then
True, this show without Charlie just wasn't it.
I agree.
If they had ended the show after he was fired, that would be letting him win
Heroes was such a Gem and they messed it all up and I still can’t wrap my head around that 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
It had such potential, but pretty much turned into the Sylar show
Partly because of the writers strike
@@teresa2845 true, but even after that... I loved the first season but it seems like it veered way off course. Either way, still a decent watch 😁
I liked it up until the Season 1 finale...2 people who have multiple powers..one because he was apparently born with it, and the other one because he eats/absorbs powers...the hero and the villain...and they meet...and they have a fist fight for about 10 seconds. No powers were used.
That was the S1 finale.
@@MisterFarce They made it into Claire's show, always giving her the biggest story arcs. That bothered me, in the first season everyone was essential to move the story forward, in the last two seasons only her. :(
Dexter, I think having his sister being in love with him was a bad plot which kinda ruined it, more than deb finding out. Someone was going to find out eventually.
Why can’t shows have platonic friendships, why do they have to have a romantic tension bit.
I think the fans and maybe even the writers of the show subconsciously wanted something like that but didn't know how to pull that off for a story arc so they had to build it up by adding a shrink in the middle of the season....besides, they tossed this whole thing when it all started to feel wrong (which it should)
I agree, it was really creepy
The new season of Dexter starts in September on Showtime.
It was gross because even though they weren't blood related they were raised as siblings.
Did they bang?
The final episode of Two and a Half Men is just stupid. Charlie was going to kill his brother only because he stole the protagonism of the show after his death. Also, the show's title lost sense after Jake grew up and left the series
I agree 💯😊
Should have retitled the show..'just half a pathetic man'🤦
@@79lerxst alan did not deserve to be labeled that charlie did.
@@598superchris well I will have to give u props for that one sir hahaha 🍻🍻🍻
Charlie had that tiger blood
I wouldn’t say that the mother dying was a problem, Ted returning to Robin kills everything the show did
Why? You don't seriously think a marriage between Robin and Barney would last, do you?
Guys like Barney are incapable of faithfulness, so he would have cheated on her. Besides, growth in characters like that ruins the character.
@@dhenderson1810 you’ve got it all wrong! Guys like Barney , once they are in, they are ALL in! He was only honest about who he is. They balanced each other off nicely! He would not have cheated. Robin wasn’t all that honest with him.
It basically negated all the character developement for Ted , Barney and Robin throughout the show
@@dhenderson1810 yeah they would’ve last and did you seriously said that giving dept to the characters ruin them?
@@MsSonnencreme Robin was honest with him, I don’t consider the ending canon because of how out of character everyone was, they erased Barney’s development and gave Robin a personality transplant
I always thought LOST creators had no idea what the mystery actually was when they started making the series.
they claimed that "even they dont know whats gonna happen next episode" which is bullshit but i assume they mean what "plot device" to use
They didn't
That's the "Let's take a single idea and see where it goes" premise. The only time that I've ever seen (or originally in the case I'm about to use read) was Tolkien's The Hobbit/Lord Of The Rings series.
I put off watching it until I knew whether all the mysteries would be solved. They weren't, so I never watched it.
@@do9138 then why are you commenting
For me, Khaleesi burning the Westeros with her dragon was exact moment. Although I believe the downfall started with season 4 when Martin stopped supervising the script and gotten worse when the series overtook the content of the book. I wish they could have waited for the release of final. But again practically it might not have been possible because people are still waiting for the final books in the series of Ice and Fire.
Fun fact: All the scenes with the kids were filmed ahead of all the seasons - the two actors said they had known for years and were excited to finally be able to talk about it.
Yeah I remember them getting in trouble because it came out before the last episode
I thought the fact that David Henry hadn’t aged at all even though he was on a very popular tv show made it obvious that they were filmed before most of the show’s filming.....
Speaking of Two and a Half Men, rest in peace to Conchata Ferrell.
😭when I heard it, it kinda hurt me.
💔
@@conceptk6918 I didn't watch the show a lot, but I did enjoy her on it and in general I'm always saddened to hear about someone dying.
R.I.P. Conchita Ferrell
oh I loved her character on there!!
Agree about Dexter. I HATED the way Deb found out. I always felt she SHOULD eventually figure it out, but it should have been through actual detective work.
Season 6/7 Bran: "I am the Three-Eyed Raven, not Bran Stark."
Season 8 Bran: "I am King Bran."
Also nails in the GoT coffin: Dany suddenly deciding to burn down King's Landing, Jaime's betraying all development in returning to Cersei, and really everything after the Night King's defeat. I don't mind Arya killing the Night King, but the final battle with Cersei was a serious step down.
There was such a huge build-up of suspense in all the seasons leading up to the final one, about what would happen when:
1). The Night King and his Undead Army fought against the living.
2). What would happen to the treacherous Cersei and her minions.
3). Just how bad would it be to survive once ‘Winter is Coming’ actually happened.
4j. Who would become the final Ruler of Westeros and therefore, who would survive at the end of the series.
5). What would the survivors be like, once the final battles were over.
Then the final season arrived with all of the GOT fans waiting with bated breath for all the big reveals!! What a gut punch!! Arya killing the Night King was ok but not that the whole battle was done and over in one episode of fighting. That Daenerys turned totally nuts in such a seemingly short span of time (even Emilia Clark was deservedly disappointed)!! There should have been a slower build up with fans noticing a slower descent into complete madness. The dreaded Winter finally arrived but it was as if the show told the fans, so what if it’s the dreaded winter as we plan to ignore it (for the most part). That Tyrion just stood by while Lord Varys (who had saved his life) was burnt to death. It seems that D&D read, watched and reviewed all the fan theories and where so concerned about not going with any of those .......... that they came up with a rushed lameness that disappointed most of the fans.
I can remember the time when the new king was announced in Game of Thrones. Also why I had to buy a new laptop the same day.
The last couple seasons were so bad I had mentally prepared myself for the horrible ending. My laptop survived :)
@@331Grabber season 6 and 7 weren’t bad
@@calebpetrie2206 Yes. They. Were.
The day Bran was announced king was the same day I heard my 12 year old cousin drop the F-bomb for the first time.
@@calebpetrie2206 season 7 was the beginning of a terrible end. Season 6 is one of my favorites, especially the last 2 episodes.
I still blame the HIMYM creators for ruining the Season 9 finale, Ted and Robin are not a good couple at all, Barney and Robin were so much better together
Agreed, it was 100% the creators/writers rigid pre - conceived vision for an ending that no longer made sense in the context of the story that had been told throughout the series.
@@infinitybelt oh absolutely, it's like they didn't want to see Barney be in a happy relationship
Yeah, I didn’t hate that the mother died, I mean it was super sad, but I could not stand that Ted and Robin got back together.
@@meg7570 I know, they were a bad match from the start
@@meg7570 for me it wasn't necessarily that the mother died, it was how that was handled. It was over the span of like 5 minutes in the last episode where we find out she died. No emotional impact, nothing whatsoever, never has anything perfectly described shoehorned as much as that scene. And yes Ted and Robin was the final nail in the original endings coffin. The alternate ending where they finally show them meeting at the train station in the rain and the pan up was the way it should have been. Unfortunately we will still have that soured ending episode no matter what with Barney and Robin's breakup.
Wow, I swear to God I forgot Game Of Thrones ever existed.
That ending was so bad it made me just block any memory of that show from my mind. Lol
Despite your name and first words, I don't believe you.
Don't forget about the literal jumping of the shark. That killed Happy Days and made the idiom part of our language today.
Breaking Bad...wait. It‘s perfect.
Only show I know where it kept getting better until it ended
Even the fly episode is comedy gold 😂😂
You're god damn right
@@stockman007 fly episode was the only one that I didn't like
Yeah, Mr White. YEAH SCIENCE!!!
I thought we all collectively agreed to never talk about the final Game of Thrones season
We're all waiting for the FMA:Brotherhood treatment. I started on the books back in 2001. I'm not sure we'll ever get a proper ending. And now GRRM is too busy with other projects.
Shhhhhhhhh!
Season 7 should be avoided in discussion too 🤷🏼♂️
David Duchovny leaving X-files was pretty show ending.
Agreed! “Requiem” should have been the end. Mulder abducted, Scully mysteriously pregnant. Done.
The Walking Dead is one of the most heartbreaking show declines. Audience reaction to Negan’s brutality caused things to be toned down for the rest of season 7, and season 8. The show’s redeemed itself in seasons 9 and 10 but the dip is honestly gutting
I think it started going downhill when the got to Alexandria.
1) The group had Eutopia safe haven;
2) Suddenly the cast got huge with 2 then 3 then 4 different communities, which screwed up pacing;
3) Rick got with Michonne which never felt right, especially after he lost the throwaway blonde chick in the previous arc;
4) Character development came to a grinding halt.
I think carl's death was the biggest pitfall, but I believe season 10 was one of the best yet
@@gfpbaneable wow. Nailed it. Its as if I wrote your statement. I couldn't have said it better.
I agree. I’ve dared it but haven’t watched yet. I think Rick’s bone head decisions as leader cost a lot of lives and everyone else continued to make dumb mistakes. I know, I know, it what drove the story forward, but I could only watch so much stupidity without saying ENOUGH ALREADY! I mean having a fair when the Whisperers were a threat. Duh.
@@kathleenhartnellharper7234 I think the fair was after Rick left, but that's nitpicking.
Like another said on this board, the character developement really took a back seat which was a bad directorial move.
My personal biggest dig on the show was after the 5 or 7 year advancement and the addition of the five new characters. There was the fat bearded guy(who's really the only likable one), the angry girl(who SUCKKKSSS), the deaf girl, the girl/kid/boy/I'm really not sure what it is, and the Indian/Asian/Australian/I'm not sure what she is either. They really forced these characters on the audience. None are really likable.....maybe the guy, but meh. And who's going to have a weight problem that far into a zombie apacolypse? I would think most people would be closer to starvation, not obesity. Sorry about the rant. Yeah, the new characters are killing it for me.

Animated tv shows version?
No
"Sheen may have been winning but the show without him started "losing"
TRUER WORDS HAVE NEVER BEEN SPOKEN
When the series Bones did a crossover with Sleepyhollow. A show that is based on scientific evidence existing alongside one that explains things with the supernatural, introducing the possibility that a ghost did it as a possible explanation was crossing the line.
I’m still so mad about Game Of Thrones Season 8
Heroes has to be the most dissapointing one of all these. The first season was like television crack. The rest of the series was like being a homeless crackhead. Such potential.
Heroes will always be the best/worst tv show! So much wasted potential :(
Hahahahahaha that’s great
It was SOO GOOD in s1
@Qalidurut yes
No one talks about how they almost never show anyone using their powers in Heroes.
GoT:
-The Start of season 8 as a whole
-The undead dragon breaking down the ice wall, but then being unable to break down a small piece of rubble John hid behind
-Aria stabbing the night king. What was John brought back for?
-The crazy dragon bitch going absolutely psycho over the course of 2 episodes
-The physics behind a large piece of artillery that can hurl a 100+ pound solid steel projectile with enough force to not only pierce a dragon, but also tear apart a ship like a god damn 8 inch cannon ball, despite being a _piercing_ projectile.. That would take a team of oxen to draw the 'string' back, it wouldn't be mounted on such a small ship, and it's rate of fire would be hilariously bad.
-The fact she just forgot about that entire fleet to begin with..
-The fact that she didn't SEE the fleet, despite being on a fucking flying dragon.
-Undoing everything Jamey as a character had gone through
-That pitiful fight between the Hound and the Mountain. Why give us an amazing fight scene when you can just let them die under some rocks?
-John's entire character being boiled down to "But she's our queen" like he's fucking Ugandan Knuckles.
-John turning into a brainless idiot
-John being sent to the wall, making him being brought back to life completely pointless.
-D&D being born, only to make an amazing TV series and then utterly annihilate it at the 11th hour to go work on Star Wars.. Only to be fired.. G fucking G, you damn morons.
-And then Bran, who hasn't done shit in 3 seasons, gets to be king
You can seen the transition in season 7 where the wonder twins took over and began trashing characters and "hurry up and resolve this plot point"
Brilliant 👏 couldn’t say it better myself. I’ll jus😶
@@ee5943 watch Game of Thrones season 8 pitch meeting... 'Would you like some time... you can have it' 'No' 'Oh'
'Seems like this could have been spread out over 20 episodes' 'But I don't wanna'
THAT is the real summary of GoT last two seasons...
The last season fucking broke my heart.. now I can’t even rewatch the previous seasons , like what’s the point really ?
I didn't even watch the last 2 episodes of got. They ruined the whole series with just 6 episodes.
Pretty Little Liars, everything that happened after Mona revealed to be A (and then another A showing up)
For me the turning point of the show was Ali turning out to be alive and of course her and Emily getting together seriously pissed me off, I personally Emily was better with Samara(I think that was her name) since she could no longer be with Maya (or ya know they writers could have made Maya not die and had her be yet another part of the 'bury your gays troupe' )and Ezra being -A
To be fair, that book series is convoluted and stupid as hell. -_-
@@FebreezeSprayandCandy true
THANK YOU!!
Wasn't Sasha Cohen (Olympic Figure Skater) and Alyssa Milano on that show?
I think this was Alyssa Milano's last stand as an actress.
Regardless of how it ended....the drawn out "how I met your mother" would have been worlds more poignant if all those previous episodes were needed in order to lead to him meeting their mother. Where the story actually involved the mother could have existed completely stand-alone which to me was the most disappointing part......I wanted it to be something where if all the craziness of the prior seasons hadn't happened then he wouldn't have met their mother. So that the story was how he met their mother..... but he met their mother in a way that didn't require any of the previous antics..... so from the kids' point of view they asked about their mom, and what they accidentally discovered was that their mom was always his 2nd choice, because even though he claimed to have truly loved their mother when asked how they met all they got was days on end of him talking about Robin, it was just Robin, Robin, Robin, Robin, I can't be with Robin, oh hey, yeah also I met your mom" and she was so important to me that when her own kids asked about her I told them about my obsession with Robin.
I would have been happy if those "adventures" they went all directly or even indirectly leas specifically to their mom, not just lead to why the kids should be okay with their dad getting to be with the one woman he constantly obsessed over. It cheapened it all.
I was thinking along the same lines. With all the antics, I was hoping something would happen along the lines where the mother was enough to make Ted forget about everything prior (basically, the mother was enough to end his obsession with Robin and move on). I didn't expect a whole second part on how that happened honestly, though having little cutscenes between like a commercial break of little bits of their adventure together would've added something to it would make things a bit more believable. But no.
After everything though, I'm annoyed I didn't see it coming. You'd think if the storytelling was that long, that the mother would've chimed in at some point. The whole silence on her end should've been my biggest clue that she died.
@Random Ramblings You hit the nail on the head
@Stephen Clark The ending was just a subversive ending executed so terrible. That last season in general was so bad.
Killing Brian...only to bring him back 2 episodes later - Family Guy
their decision almost ruin the show, and the departure of cleveland to the cleveland show is regrettable too, thankfully both of them are back
They were never going to kill off Brian.
The show did such a good job of making him hateful that we couldn't wait for him to die.
Honestly, Brian should've stay dead because he becomes more douchier than ever. Also, they changed Cleveland's voice actor since his voice actor quit and replaced it by a RUclipsr who can do best impression of Cleveland.
Brian becoming a douchebag was one of the best decisions on the show. It hilariously plays on the stigma of writers being pretentious and creates new storylines for his character. They did similar adjustments with Meg (making her suicidal), Chris (making him creepy and showing psychopathic tendencies), Joe (making him socially awkward) and Quagmire (playing into the idea that he’s a rapist). Sometimes the results aren’t as funny or satisfying as we would like but when a show has been on as long as Family Guy, adding new (albeit darker but in a black comedy sort-of-way) elements to certain characters are necessary.
Sherlock literally told us himself how he survived... and yet people still don't think that's definitive?
I think it's the way it was written and shot. They made it seem like there was still doubt to the truth of his explanation. That said, I think the fact they didn't go into again means that the explanation he gave was the true one.
They wrote themselves in a corner. What wouodve been believable?
They created the ultimate cliffhanger, but there was no conceivable way to make the resolution sufficient. The true joy of watching Sherlock at that time was the sense of wonder and curiosity... only for the castle to collapse with the lack of closure and the monumental failure of season 4.
I agree 100% with this. I never felt mocked or a lack of closure as Sherlock DID tell Watson what happened. I was shocked to see this included in this video. Now, I do agree that season 4 was a tragedy.
You forgot Sleepy Hollow-the first season was AMAZING but killing Abbie and moving the location out of Sleepy Hollow killed it
As someone who’s favorite show of all time is GOT, I’m glad it got the #1 spot on this list for that final season
I would say Dany destroying King's Landing was what killed the show for me.
Years of character development all thrown away for a shocking twist that made no sense.
It made sense if you were watching closely. Dany was without mercy to her enemies. Time and time again she slaughtered her enemies.
@@Paulafan5 Yes...her enemies. She crucified slave traders because...they were slave traders killing innocent people.
She's ruthless to people who deserve it. She never once decided, "Hey, Im think Im gonna commit mass genocide on all these innocent civilians"
@@josh043p6 Dany said, many many times, "Im gonna commit mass genocide on all these innocent civilians" throughout the show. Dany's bar for "these people are my enemies" had gotten lower and lower. Her entire goal was pure privilege. "I deserve to be ruler." Ever since Season 1, cold, vengeful violence was her thing. She was turned on when Drogo went on about all the war crimes he would commit in Westeros -- many of them that she committed in his stead. When she didn't have the power to do so, she was frequently threatening that she would "lay waste to armies and burn cities to the ground," an exact quote from Season 2. Why didn't we take her at her word? When someone tells you about the atrocities they will commit.. maybe we should believe that they're capable of them.
Dany's order to nail the slave masters to crosses was fairly chilling. They were taken at random, and some at least had not taken part in and spoke against the crime for which they were being executed (Hizdahr zo Loraq's father, for instance), but Dany believed in collective guilt. One slaver was akin to another for her, and the scene shows the chilling torture and murder she shows to anyone who does not meet her particular moral standards.
But nothing foreshadows Daenerys's fall more than 6x06, when Dany inspires the khalasar on the back of Drogon. It's meant to be inspirational! A Vanity Fair writer wrote (in 2016, while S6 was airing!) that they were setting Dany up to be the "Mad Queen Daenerys." Her speech is nearly the same as the bloody coup that Khal Drogo promised.
We see over and over again -- Daenerys's impulses are reigned in by her trusted advisors, and as we know "A Targaryen alone in the world is a terrible thing." Ser Jorah begging her not to execute every slave master in Yunkai. Ser Selmy warning her that "the mad king gave his enemies the justice he thought they deserved." HE never saw himself as "mad," he met out punishments and Selmy said "each time, it made him feel powerful and right. [...] When the people rose and revolted against him, your father set their towns and castles aflame. He murdered sons in front of their fathers. He burned men alive." Without Jorah and Selmy to moderate her, nothing stopped her blood thirst. Except, for awhile, Tyrion. In 6x10, Tyrion compares her plan to the Mad King's actions, and she says "this is entirely different." His reply: "You're talking about destroying cities. It's not entirely different." But Show!Tyrion was pretty stupid after Season 6, so he couldn't do much. And Jon Snow, well, we knew that wouldn't last.
I'll agree, the final fall from grace is way, WAY too rushed. Daenerys's sudden "lose a dragon, burn king's landing" feels like it needs a good season's worth of development in there, not an episode. The series definitely did not lay enough groundwork for that to feel totally earned. Season 7 stumbled mightily, and Season 8 was trash, I think we can all agree there. But "mad queen Daenerys" was the most logical ending for her character.
@@Paulafan5 True, I noticed as early as Qarth that Dany had faaar to much power and faaar to little ability to plan things out, strategize, or be control her impulses to be a great leader.
She had a messiah complex, an army of zealots, and dragons and far to little practice in thinking things through.
@@ianwestc i 100% agree.
you forgot the happy days episode where fonzi jumps over a shark
Did coin a phrase
Literally jumping the shark
Seriously. That's literally the only example that should ever take first place here. Objectively the most iconic example of this exact thing.
Except the episode aired in the 3rd episode of Season 5 (September 20, 1977), and the show stayed on the air through Season 11. The trend line of declining ratings actually started in the 2nd season.
They mentioned that in a video about jumping the shark that they made a few years ago. I won't spoil where it ranked on the list, but it's really obvious, lol.
I Remember never watching Dallas again When Bobby Ewing walked out of the shower After being killed in the last season .

King Bran was definitely more like the final nail in the coffin. Damn it still hurts...
I would argue about Dexter. Debra catching Dexter while murdering someone was rebirth of the show. It gave it new and interesting ways to examine their relationship. The only thing that really killed the show, for me, was her death. I wanted her so much to survive. Her character was amazing and it really hit me.
@Julian Hen why not both
Meg (I think that was the blonde's name, not Dexter's late wife but the psycho bitch) was what made me stop watching the show altogether.
The actors themselves didn't have great on-screen chemistry from the get-go and her character was just a somehow worse rehashing of Lyla's character (crazy Brit chick with the horrid accent).
I wish the show had just cut the "find a romantic interest for Dexter" bullshit and let that plot idea die.
He was great without a romantic partner and if they had just let it die sooner we would have never gotten that ridiculous "romantic" relationship between him and Deb.
I'm aware that some people weren't bothered by him and Deb's "newfound love" but I'm definitely not alone in thinking it was rather gross and unnecessary. To each their own.
@Julian Hen that's the exact episode that I decided to stop watching. Later on I looked up what had happened in the following episodes (checked reviews and discussion forums, never continued watching) and I'm even more glad I stopped watching when I did.
They just completely ruined that show.
Eric leaving the show did not ruin that 70's show. Breaking up Hyde and Jackie and then putting Jackie with Fez did.
Nah Randy killed That 70s Show. I did not dislike a single character until he came along.
@@dannyswanger1211 I hear people hate on Randy all the time, which honestly surprises me considering he didn't have that much of an impact on the group in general. Even his relationship with Donna didn't feel that important. He was just a placeholder for Eric. He didn't make the show better but he didn't make it worse either. I always hated Eric, I was happy he was gone. Randy showing up did nothing bad or good for the show in my opinion. I was just happy Eric wasn't there anymore.
I did completely stop watching it after Hyde and Jackie broke up. They were perfect together. It made Jackie look horrible that she almost dated all the guys on the show. I watched the finale and couldn’t believe they put fez and jackie together...I liked Eric on the show. I don’t rewatch past season 6
In the end it just felt like she picked Fez by process of elimination. I really liked Jackie and Hyde together and was sad they broke them up. Especially for him to marry a stripper and her and Fez to end up together.
It wasn’t the same without Eric. He was the main character lol.
Oh gosh I forgot Lost. I felt LOST after the finale. And kicked myself for ever watching it.
Tv did start before the x files. The whole bobby dream in dallas comes to mind
No "Happy Days" when Fonzie literally water skis over a shark????? I realize it was some time back but the term "Jumping the Shark" (which is the topic of this entry) comes from that very episode.
In defense of Sherlock Holmes: there was nothing wrong with the ending, and people who've read the books understand that he wasn't really dead.
I LOVE SHERLOCK! the ending was very good but i never wanted it to end
I LOVE SHERLOCK! the ending was very good but i never wanted it to end
It wasn't the ending but the explanation that was the issue. It was pretty clear that the ending and the explanation was not compatible.I think a lot of people became Annie Wilkes and yelled at the screen for a while.
I loved that episode and how they did it. I thought it was awesome.
I had no problem with that scene, and I feel it did have a good explanation of what happened eventually. Now, season 4 was terrible.
The number #1 should be when the Simpsons revealed that Skinner was a fraud, it ruined the character and after they demonstrated that they were willing to do an episode gag at the expense of a character (outside the Treehouse of Horror format), the show generally lost its heart and emotion that made it more than just the average comedy
I think there is something seriously wrong with me. Coz I quite liked that episode. Now, I am mortified.
To be fair, when she described King Bran using his foresight to achieve power, that pretty much describes Paul Atreides and the entire Dune series at whole.
As a huge "Monk" fan, I'm happy to see it always avoid making it on to lists like these. Obviously I'm biased, but I think that show is perfect from beginning to end.
I agree! No bad episodes. No bad seasons. A fitting ending.
Mr. Monk and the Garbage Strike: "We'll burn down the whole city - and start all over again! Rebuild it, clean it! And we can even straighten out Lombard Street while we're at it."

@Dustin Waterhouse The thing with the nudist may be that Monk just thought the guy was ugly. I mean, just because you're not afraid of showing it all it doesn't mean the result will be of everyone's liking.
Agreed. Although the chemistry between Monk and Sharona was better than that with Natalee...

I would add Fringe final season too. First two seasons mind-blowing. Then a good reveal and follow up. But that observers invading was an absolute mess.
When Buffy got a sister out of nowhere in Buffy the vampire slayer. I hated the sister, she was so whiny, annoying and the fact that Buffy had to save her all the time was the breaking point for me.
I admit that was really ‘out there’, but I think that making her so helpless wasn’t a good idea. I had hoped that a hidden power would emerge once the whole ‘Gloria’ stuff started. They should have found another way for Buffy to have a younger sister (to draw in the younger audience). Maybe having her be a younger half-sister (from Buffy’s dad’s remarriage ) and then have the little half-sister turn out to be half demon with some cool abilities.
#1 ANYTHING from Game of Thrones Season 8
artydomi ever since season 6 the show had been trash. D&D are hacks
7 too. The 3rd act of Game of Thrones was in reality just a bunch of fanservice. Then season 8 screwed up even that.
The only thing I remember about is Elmo making cameo
I didn't mind the Hound vs Mountain. But that may be the only storyline that was wrapped up properly
Michael leaving the office

THANK YOU
I actually think it died when Nelly literally stole Andy’s managed spot. It was the point in which the show started getting a bit too “bonkers”. Not to mention she is my most hated characters in television. Not because she is antagonistic or anything, but I cannot stand the character itself. Especially after the writers pulled a “look at her, she has personal problems, we must feel sad and empathize with her”.
Nelly killed the office .
Agreed
I think they did an amazing job without him. Robert California is just perfect, and the final season is easily one of my favorites of the whole series.
What - no Fonzie jumping a shark in Happy Days? That episode sparked the whole phrase to jump the shark.
This used to be referred to as "Jumping the Shark".
It still is, by anyone with culture 👌🏼
Sherlock is absolutely incredible but, in the fourth season I think the writers had so many ideas going on that they rushed the final episodes.
Isn't that just a fancy word for "it sucked"?
True! I think they didn’t give much importance to Magnusen as a “villain” but the last episode of season 3 is amazing because of how much it plays with your brain. Even with the fourth season issues, I still think they ain’t a big deal and the serie is AMAAAAZING
They killed Moriarty too soon.
S4 was so rushed and weird it really is a letdown compared to the other seasons.
@@Gonz_Ap yes!!
GOT season eight was the most rushed piece of television in history
Season 7 as well
The problem is the writers only wanted 7 seasons, but HBO wanted 8, so instead of 2 more seasons of 10 episodes each, they agreed on 2 shortened seasons. So it’s not exactly rushed, but one season stretched out longer than it should’ve been. Perhaps if HBO would’ve let them end at season 7 they could’ve made a tight 10 episodes, or if they wouldn’t have been in such a hurry to end it it would still be going. Hell GRRM said the show could’ve had at least 10 seasons. I think anyone can agree the mistake was ending it before the books.
@@brennicolas3093 you just contradicted yourself. It was rushed as hell, just look at any plotline. GRRM was honest when he wanted at least 10 FULL seasons.
Good point it’s just sad the way it ended I love the show

I can't believe you didn't make Happy Days episode where Fonzie jumps the shark that No. 1 pick! It literally defined the whole concept of when TV series go off the rails!!
What about shows like Moonlighting- when David and Maddie finally hooked up; The Nanny- when Fran and Maxwell finally got married; Will and Grace- when Grace divorced Leo; Fraiser- when Niles and Daphne finally start their relationship; Dharma and Greg-when they get into the car wreck after Dharma cheated on Greg; ER- when Dr. Mark Greene died; The Office- When Michael Scott leaves; Seinfeld- after Larry David quit as a writer; Happy Days- when Fonzie jumped the shark; The Brady Bunch- when they adopted Cousin Oliver, Friends- When Joey confesses his love for Rachel, etc.... There are so many shows that were forgotten on this list!!! (Wait! Another major one is on Charmed, Season 8, when Billie was introduced)
Married with children when they added the character “Seven”
What about Three's Company replacing Chrissy with cousin Cindy? The show was never the same after that
Yeah. I prefer Terri to Cindy, but Chrissy is the best of the 3 blondes.
Chrissy was an essential part of that trio. That both of the female stars were paid so much less than the male star makes no sense once it became a hit series. Plus the way that Suzanne Somers was treated for the last of her episodes as Chrissy is disgusting!!! Talk about abuse ........ that sure happened to her, just because she dared to ask for a raise (when her portrayal helped make the show a big hit to begin with). I tried to watch the series after that, but it just wasn’t the same.

Can you pin point the exact moment the simpsons fan base ripped in half.
(Skinner episode)
One hand, it's not really a horrible episode, it's got a few funny moments, and the plot could've made the series interesting later on. On the other hand, having principle skinner say hes an entirely different person who stole the life of another Seymour skinner, and ending the episode with "let's just forget any of this ever happen or die," is pretty stupid and a huge cop out to an otherwise interesting plot
@@PatZalatoris The "let's forget about it" thing could work, because it could have been a parody of other TV shows which drop plot points without explanation.
It is like when they killed off Poochie from the "Itchy & Scratchy Show", which was a parody of killing off unpopular characters.
I’d say as soon as season 11 started. Skinner episode was followed by many classic greats.
The EXACT moment I knew that Game of Thrones was in for a historic downfall was when they announced only 13 episodes to wrap up everything and did virtually nothing with the white walkers through season 7. Beyond the Wall was an omen, but the show was still salvageable.
The TRUE, absolute pinpointed moment that the flood gates opened was when the Night King raised the dead instead of fighting Jon. That combined with his immediate death was honestly one of the most disappointed I have ever felt in my life.
I disagree with GoT , ruining moment was when Night King died at Winterfell imediatly in season 8 by Arya....since then i wanted to stop watching

For me it was the final battle at winterfell where none of the main characters died. So unrealistic that all the stark kids survived

Season 5 with the Sandsnakes. Season 1 and 3 were TV gold, 2 and 4 were fine and 5-8 were so bad it physically hurt.
Always having to fast forward 45 seconds into watchmojo videos because they give everything away in the intro will never get old
I thought I was the only one. It makes no sense for them to do this when what makes a list fun is anticipating THE LIST.
You could really pick any moment in Dexter after s4 since the show never recovered from Rita's death. I was expecting the show building up to shower Aster, Cody, or Harisson having serial killer tendencies after their mom's death but the show abandoned that idea for the worse ending ever.
What made me stop watching is when he killed his brother, I thought the sister was way annoying
Damn Rita was fine.
Maybe people hated the story arch with her, but man did i think Yvonne Strahovski (Hannah McKay) was like the most beautiful person in the world
Game of Throne's big mistake was going on after the books had finished. To believe, it could be good after running out of what gave it quality in the first place: GRRM's writing and character creation. Very big mistake. Not to put him on the same level as Tolkien, but imagine Peter Jackson filming The Fellowship and The Two Towers and then just making the third one up completely by himself. Of course it doesn't work. So much detail and love went into design, crafstmanship, music, acting. So much carefully placed foreshadowing and character development. It's all nothing without its source material conclusion.
I personally think GOT started going down when they stated down playing Tyrion's character and intelligence.

I feel like Eric leaving That 70’s Show was just one example of many times a show is killed after a main character leaves (or an actor dies): The Office, NewsRadio, 8 Simple Rules, etc.
I watched maybe the first 2 seasons of How I Met Your Mother before the concept of a father telling his two kids about most of his adult dating life and sexual escapades with other women before getting to the point of how he actually met THEIR mother was just too much.

They turned Negan into a hero for some reason
