  • In this video, I use my FraLap machine to recut a blue topaz with a chip in it. It starts as a strange, flat, checkerboard cut and I recut it to a mixed cut and remove the chip. This is my first time recutting on the Jambpeg so I think it went quite well!
Thanks to Gemmology Rocks for supporting this video with the topaz that I recut. They do courses and events around the UK. Check them out here: gemmologyrocks.com

I have to admit, while I use a Mast-style machine, I have often wanted to try a Handpiece machine but I'd be reluctant to try Jamb Peg. However, that Jamb Peg seems to be really well thought out especially with the tabling jig and the ability to quickly and easily cut/polish the Table. Given the opportunity, I'd likely give it a try just to say I have ! It would be interesting trying a more "traditional" type of faceting system.
It certainly looks like you have caught on to it quickly.

I’m enjoying it though it’s not without its frustrations. Mostly it’s just me getting more coordinated using it.

Hi Justin. I'm curious what Camera you are using for the POV-view ? Head-mounted Go-Pro ?
It's a really nice Topaz. Awesome gem.
