The most important commentary in the video, "when I first shot this, i think it was like a 14". That is a profound statement. Put in work, reap the rewards! Shooting this at 90 or above is not nearly as easy as folks think. Well done!
You guys inspired me ro try this one at the range this week. Shot it cold and got some weird misses. Scored an 82. Did some checking and I believe a handful of my misses were due to the fact that my "25 yd zero" was NOT a 25 yd zero!! Measure that stuff folks. I was a good 5 yds off!! Got out the range finder and fixed my zero. I think the next time I run this I'll a lot closer to a 90!! Zero matters!! Especially with a pistol. Confirm that your zero is dead on!!
The four shots, reload, four more shots was supposed to be from the ready, and both of you did it from the draw. Natalie probably would have gotten all 8 shots off in the time.
We had to do this in order to get my armed guard card to be armed security in nh...they make you do it twice and you must pass twice in a row in order to Qual...I got 100 but my shots at 25 yards were a Lil low and to the left but still on...my instructor said that I was going too fast...not that it dq you, but like he said take your time on your shots....(but not too long)

@@ASPextra Are you saying You should NOT put a RDS on a carry gun? From a few Police Bodycams, I've notice some do, some don't, but that's LEO. FBI Qual Test says a concealed holster, either IWB or OWB. A micro RDS looks like a snag hazard for IWB. The only addition to my AIWB Carry is a ported, extended barrel on my G27 to control the muzzle flip.
Carry whatever you want. Neil carries a gun with a red dot on it, concealed, as his everyday carry. As do I. So shooting the qual with something other than what we carry everyday is wrong-headed.
@@gunznknives I've carried a RDS on both of my carry guns. I've had no snag issues in appendix (my main carry) or on the hip iwb. The dot has never given me a bit of problem drawing, only gives me the opportunity to do what you've always wanted to do. That is look at your target and shoot the dot. I'll never shoot iron sights again. 😎😎
I have watched the 3 ASP videos of taking the FBI qual. John, Natalie, and Neil shot a 10 stage, 50 round course of fire. Brian Hill shot a substantially different, 8 stage qual with 4 of those stages repeated twice and one stage repeated 4 times, totaling 60 rounds. I am confused on which is the "old" FBI qual and which is the "new" one. I will shoot both, but, I want to be able to tell my range buddies what we're shooting. Thanks for what all the ASP crew does.
Never mind. Did my research AFTER my post. For anyone who didn't know, besides me, the 10 stage, 50 round FBI qual is the 2019 version and the 60 round was the official qual from 2013-2019.
Neil, you said that if your dot is zeroed at 10 yards, which my is, your POA will be the top of the circle? Would that be true for anything under 10 yards? The public out door range I go to uses a 7 yard firing range. However, if there is no none else on the range, you can shoot at any distance you want to, up to 22 yards. It was three yards short of the 25 because of the the sitting area for loading mags, resting, etc.
I shoot it each year in the presence of an NRA-certified instructor, who 'certifies' the target with the qual score :). We think it'll come in handy if I ever have to use my firearm in a defensive situation...
I tried this once, right before the ammo dried-up Don't remember my score, but it was not a pass I'm going to cop out with the subcompact gun excuse LOL
God I wish my family was more gun-adept. They just seem perfectly ok with being sitting ducks. I’ve tried so many times to get them more enthused about learning and becoming advanced shooters 😔 it’s literally just me, the Sheepdog, in a house full of sheep. Working on my 8yr old son early for that reason.
Go easy on them, everyone needs to make that decision in their own time and while it’ll never be quick enough for you, the relationship shouldn’t suffer. Stay the course and hang in there!
I disagree. Stand out on a range at 75 feet and hit that target four times standing, then four times kneeling in 20 seconds. It's not easy to do, and the majority of casual shooters can't. And this is just the FBI's pistol qualification, not the sum of their pistol training. This is the test after a ton of learning.
@@sundaynightdrunk This is the exact qual that I had to do in the police academy (in 2000) and annually thereafter. I threw one round every time (because smart cops know better than to shoot perfect scores). I am also appalled at how little is expected of police when it comes to weapons training. It's embarrassing.
@@sundaynightdrunk Law enforcement is in itself a perfect example of institutional ignorance. Example: officers desperately need better training for hands on situations (this is where BJJ and combatives shine) but leadership refuses to acknowledge that because "Back in my days on the street, 20 years ago, all we needed was _______. So that's all they need now." Add to that the Mathias paradox: Communities demand better police officer training. Better police officer training demands higher police budget. Higher police budget demands higher tax mil. Higher tax mil demands community support in votes. Community absolutely refuses to vote in support of higher taxes. Police budget remains unchanged. Police officers remain poorly trained. Community demands better police officer training. Wash-rinse-repeat. Apply that to equipment, mental health support for cops, firearms training, etc. It'll never change.

I am lucky to get to do this with her!
