i modified the dot torture for some of my students. 1" stickers 10 per page, 1 shot per sticker on my command. Then we repeat, 2nd round we shoot 2 shots per sticker , this round they determine the shooting cadence. Really challenging and not easy to do like most think it is.

Thats about right. Took a year or so to clear it my first time. I find as I progress to the end my fundamentals would be a little lax and throw one. I can't even count how many times I came to the last couple shots and threw one just outside a circle. It is a great drill to work pure fundamentals. 2" circles leave no room for even the slightest error in fundamentals.
I did the shorter version of this yesterday with my revolver Very humbling I didn't do too horrible strong hand, my support name was absolutely terrible LOL

Yeah, I was curious about whether de-cocking was part of the drill, but I know she's been trained that way from prior videos. Actually adds more challenge and the TDA version would be more appropriate for someone who's used to that type of pistol.

I would guess you never time anything that involves reholstering (something that should never be rushed) so when you say “You can add timing” that would be a whole bunch of individual draw to shot timings ?
The young lady shot well, IMHO. I improved my grip strength with therapy putty. It comes in a variety of weights. You can use it to exercise one finger at a time, holding the rest of the hand motionless.
It seems like she's not really crushing the gun with her support hand. I think she might learn a lot if her dad showed her how much pressure he's applying from his support hand to control the recoil. I had a very similar issue until I got some correction on that
@@neilweidner7037 I don't see that at all. She's better with her weak hand, meaning it's the opposite of what he's saying-she's using more weak-hand strength in her two-handed grip than strong-hand strength, which is fine until you have to shoot with only the strong hand, causing her to miss #5. She'll do better with training, I'm sure. She's already really good for her age and experience level.
@@sundaynightdrunk agreed… I just wondered what the first guy saw that made him think that… I shoot with her a fair amount so I can tell you that your spot on…
Great job, also Random question, what do you guys use to measure the distance? One of those measuring wheels or a big tape measure? Just trying to find one that works out to 25 meters.
She is decocking the hammer. Watch the hammer, she carries it hammer down in the holster so it shoots like a revolver for the first shot subsicant shots are shot from hammer cocked position witch is an easier shorter trigger pull than the first shot. Watch when she pulls trigger on first shot. U can see the hammer move back from the decocked position. She is decocking b4 reholstering so she has the same long harder trigger pull on her first shot and shorter lighter trigger pulls for the rest of magazine.. because that is how she prefers to carry in holster. Some ppl carry with the hammer cocked so it is a lighter shorter pull on first shot. There is no wrong or right way. It's just a preference and if u carry hammer down. U want to always have your first trigger pull to be the same. Hope I helped 👍
@@YELLTELL I’d strongly recommend that if someone has a gun with a decocker that they use it. The gun was designed that way and it adds a layer of safety for the person carrying it. Although, people get to make their own decisions.
With her support hand only shooting better than primary hand only, I wonder which is her dominant eye. I have no dominant eye (it switches back and forth depending on my focus) which is a real pain and can cause a target shift. She shoots better than me, so not criticizing, just wondering.

Very nice shooting, especially with that double action trigger pull.
Great video! Thanks, Neil and Natalie!
Watching Nat's shooting technique and great attitude is giving me the drive to keep working on this drill until I shoot it clean.

Yes draws depending on the task. So dot one would be draw and fire 5 on time. Dot 2 would be 5 individual draws and shot. And so on.
The time is the shots. The reholster is not on the clock.
