Heres the nitty on my experience, buy SMW or ATF boots both their jackboots and lowboots are the most solid for the price, ATF's new ones will be a little bit better than the SMW's but will be slightly more expensive.

I think the Husarenstiefel that are still built today by the 5th generation of Ludwig Reiter are the best of the best boots that high powered men would've worn and right around that era of 1820s-1950s (they're alpine ski boots of Russian elk leather). I bought a pair of Husaren boots on the website the Rake and the boot is the best leather work beyond Ermenegildo Zegna Louis Vuitton anything man they specifically are made in Vienna and through my research seem to equally have French, Russian, German and Hungarian history behind them

Why not just hunt down original boots instead of repro?..I'd think it's a better investment and if the boots are prepped and maintained the occasional use isn't going to damage them..i found original Jack boots in decent shape for $200 at a military show, still quite serviceable..they hold their value and they ooze history,as they should..i can understand repro uniforms but field equipment was/is still quite durable and not that pricey guys, just take care of it,as they would have done

    • @annedebroeck2451

They will still wear out over time, even if you take care of them. Same with ammo pouches, doesn't matter how well you take care of them. Don't use original boots. Very bad idea.

@@annedebroeck2451 I understand what you're saying and agree, everything falls apart.i just don't like spending money on Chinese junk.but in my case Its very rare that I'd wear mine because I don't reenact.just the occasional Halloween use.im careful,I use dubbin(not the synthetic) just as they used.mine are early war enlisted of a decent quality..enlisted boots have a loose fit compared to the officers boots, especially in the calf area.and as far as the other leather equipment including the pouches, dubbin works the best,it won't break down the stitching and it keeps the leather soft.so for reenactment purposes repro may be best, but for rare use,in my case, the real deal is my choice😎..i made a vid of me smoking a cigarette from ww2,it's on my channel for your amusement if you're interested!
