I once heard a really good descriptor for the first two songs: "It's Pizza Time!" is the theme song of trying to outrun certain death While "The Death That I Deservioli" is the theme song of _daring death to catch you if it can_
Pizza Time plays during the timed escape sequence. The game switches to frantic portion (10:54) when you're low on time, so the Mario comparison is a good example, though I guess it's more dynamic in this case.
@@BlackdragonTheShadow I don't remember Wario Land 4 having a frantic phase at the end, it just plays it until you hit 0 at which point it plays a very sad song as you lose your money.
All the escape themes just play out as time passes; there are no "low on time" transitions. Pizza Time plays during the regular escape and will play out until the player either escapes, enters the lap 2 portal, or runs out of time and gets caught by pizzaface. Death that I Deservioli plays during lap 2, and will play out fully until the player either leaves or gets caught by pizzaface, again. Some levels have very long escapes and its possible to get the songs to loop.

When I first heard these tracks I initially thought this ost wasn’t for me, but apparently i just didn’t listen long enough, these are very cool songs and i can see why they are so popular
it's worth noting that Death I Deservioli is also an escape theme alongside Pizza Time, Pizza Time being during the initial escape of fleeing back to the start of the level in like a three or so minute timer. Death I Deservioli plays if you decide to tempt fate and go for Lap 2, blasting your way through the level a second time with whatever's left on your clock, risking everything for that delicious P for Pizza. a Strong Escape Sequence for a loving Warioland-esque game
It's Pizza Time is sooo good, but TDTID just hits absolutely different in game. Jumping into that Lap 2 portal and seeing that "P" pop up instead of an S, noticing you might not have enough time to make it to the end before showtime, and the banging of that Lap 2 bell is just pure perfection for a P rank buildup. I genuinely couldn't think of a better track to fit that feeling of orderly chaos.

If you're looking for something that explores quite a variety of musical inspirations, I might suggest checking out Freedom Planet 1 and 2. Both have strong Sonic influence but you can hear cues taken from many other styles. In the first game they kept that musical whiplash of going from Act 1 to Act 2 similar to Sonic 3&K, with complete tone shifts like "mystery" to "discovery" while keeping the same melody in Relic Maze, in the second game the artist admitted she wanted to have sets of stages being self-referential with melody to themselves, but reworks had her drop that idea (although it can still be heard in parts such as in Avian Museum). I love the mood change from Western of Dragon Valley 1 from FP1 to Space Western of Dragon Valley in FP2, giving me a strong Cowboy bebop feel. *cough* sorry I'm just enthusiast about music.
Other than Pizza Time my other favourite is Thousand March from the level War and it’s so good. Especially in-game with it’s unique level gimmick of a constant count down instead of having to destroy Pillar John then run back. And in the level, the song doesn’t start till you pick up the shotgun (which you have to pick up to remove special blocks to start the level proper).
I'm thinking of a Theme Song for my OC of this game; My OC's name is Pinella Coconut and I'm thinking of naming her theme "Hawaiian Hope". The reasons for that is 1 Pinella is a Hawaiian captured by Pizzahead and Pizzaface, who destroyed her bar during war-time(Peppino found newspaper of it while fighting in war), and 2 she regained hope when Peppino, the MC of the game freed her from her cell. the song would have unexpectancy motifs and notes usually heard in luaus; plus the feeling that's similar to the feeling "Part of that World" from Disney's Little Mermaid gave. I would happily be in PURE JOY if at least 1 of my OCs appear in at least 1 game! though I wouldn't know how to send them the picture or description of my OCs headcanons. :( oh well; a girl can dream. :D
the thing about It's Pizza Time and The Death that I Deservioli, that i've seen among the community for Pizza Tower, is that "It's Pizza Time" is the theme of a man running from death, while "The Death That I Deservioli" only plays if you go BACK INTO the level, as sort of the game humoring you for having the audacity to *dare death to catch you if it can.*
This guy writes music like I try to (and wish I could). I feel like he's channeling a lot of the same music I like. 0:31 This opening sounds like Chris Hulsbeck. Especially with that delayed kick. A whole bunch of the synth-y atmosphere in this soundtrack reminds me of Hulsbeck. 7:10 Pizza Time is such an amalgamation of things that it would take an hour to disentangle the individual bits. At the same time it's wholly original. It's like the artists unraveled a bunch of sounds and ideas from 90s video games and then stitched them back together into an energic, loud theme suitable for the opening to a 90s cartoon. 8:20 The rave/techno scene used a lot of orch hits, though there's one particular one that was everywhere around the late 80s and early 90s. This isn't that sample, but the one you're probably thinking of is the "orch5" hit from the Fairlight sample library, but downpitched and layered with something. That sample is the one Konami used EVERYWHERE. Prime example: Turtles in Time for the SNES. It lives in my head because of the boss theme in that game. 14:21 You're more right than you know. This has a very, very heavy mid to late 90s Big Beat feel. Think the Prodigy, Propellerheads, Overseer, that sort of thing. That scene was grew out of the earlier rave and techno scene, and one of the notable differences was their choice of drug: While the ravers liked their "candy" (pills), the later scene was more fond of booze.
As an aside, I appreciate how keenly articulate you are when speaking. You're a very good speaker. Your voice is very easy to listen to.
Thank you!

I really want to hear you play along with an entire song on the violin, you really supplement the song
The fact that the music is vibe when you are not getting chased by a FUCKING PIZZA
This cover NUTS! Thank you for sharing it with us!
very fitting the wario plush in the background
The OST has two themes
"I am going to die"
"You are all going to die"
I recommend listening to oregano marriage or oregano desert. It's amazing.
amazing violin performance btw!
Origano mirage is the song in origano desert (level) so its the same thing
The orchestral hit you got giddy about was also used mainlly in late 80's early 90's motown swing music made popular by New Edition.
Pizza time 🍕
Great music once again 👍🏼
He did pizza time during a live stream. And it was amazing
PIZZA TIME NEVER ENDS its also good
I love listening to this man play the violin. I could sit there and listen to his violin all day
this soundtrack has been stuck in my head for years, this game has come a long way and i love it so much
I'm thinking of a Theme Song for my OC of this game; My OC's name is Pinella Coconut and I'm thinking of naming her theme "Hawaiian Hope". :D
Not only did you give me new ways to appreciate that music but you ALSO played along on violin that's rad
I LOVE when you played with death I derserveoli
the thing about It's Pizza Time and The Death that I Deservioli, that i've seen among the community for Pizza Tower, is that "It's Pizza Time" is the theme of a man running from death, while "The Death That I Deservioli" only plays if you go BACK INTO the level, as sort of the game humoring you for having the audacity to *dare death to catch you if it can.*
Jazz Fusion! That's the name I was looking for! It's one of my favorites too, but I never knew what the name for it was!
If you do a part 2 can you look at "Thousand March" and "Tunnely Shimbers" please?
dude i would love to see your reaction to the final boss theme for pizza tower / Unexpectancy
You really should listen to Calzonification, it's the 2nd world's boss theme and it's *amazing*
The death I diservioli is there definition of I am quite literally running late for work
