Me too! HOping they keep improving, and once the green bubble tip gets better, then I'll clean out that qt tank, and get it ready for a whole bunch of new nems! I think the tank is going to look so good once it's packed with nems!
Another great video Matthew. I am still learning the vocab so I was unclear on what "frag" was but I knew it was coral related. Stop laughing. Ironically, I was familiar with Remy because I watched one of his other videos (on the RODI filtration system) and I thought it was informative. So now I will watch the one you provided the link to. Thank you again.
Yeah so nice. I think they were all generously given to me Over time and I just collected them in the frag tank and they just kept growing! I probably won’t ever learn their names though! But I still love looking at them!
Zoas are one of the most underrated corals love collecting them. I seen some water melon , purple zombies, red people eaters and some sunny ds in your video keep up good work love watching.
Once anything grows out, it will look natural. I did the same thing with blastos. At first it seems kind of bare but as they grew in, they don't look half bad.
Nice video keep it up ! One question : What is the power bar that you can control by the app at 1:38? Ive been looking for a powerbar that I can cut off my ATO power and my return pump when Im doing maintenance. Thank you sir!
Check out Cyano Clean from Korallen-Zucht. You can boost its performance with Coral Snow from the same company. Cyano Clean by itself worked well for me, takes time though, like anything in this hobby.
Let’s see. Ammonia registering 0-0.25, low nitrates, under 5. Some diatom growth. No clean up crew yet. Weekly water changes of about 30%, and going to add more corals in next week!
Zoa rock looks good! It's all about the learning experience. That st. Thomas mushroom looks like it's going to split soon. It will look like it's dying so don't freak out.
@@MyFirstFishTank I used to have one just like that. It got to about that size and split at the mouth. It's guts spilled out for a couple of days while splitting.
Korallen-Zucht CyanoClean is a really good bacterial treatment for cyano. No chemicals, just bacteria that will get rid of the cyano. A treatment takes up to 8 weeks.
Good call on the bio pellets... less is more. Then it won’t strip too fast. I don’t know who said you need to carbon dose with it... but that’s nonsense, haha.
Yeah, that was nonsense, but that's okay, they just didn't know! Maybe they've learned something since! I mean, I called algae a plant just a few videos ago!
What are your NO3 levels in that tank with Cyano? As I'm sure you are aware, there is a wicked complicated relationship between NO3, PO4, Cyano, and good bacteria.
Good question. I just tested yesterday and it was at 4ppm, but it had a resurgence after using brightwell razor, which is common for me! So I've upped the flow a lot, am dosing beneficial bacteria, and am going to try a lot of manual removal. I really just want to stay away from chemiclean this time around!
Great question. Nems like high flow, but indirect. The two pumps in this video are super week, and the mesh disperses it. I'd say it's actually to little flow inside the basket, but good enough for a quarantine!
Oh for me too, but sometimes it is followed up with dino outbreak which is so much worse. Any tips for preventing the secondary dinoflagellate outbreak? Maybe just dose some sort of microbacter7 during and after the treatment?
@@MyFirstFishTank When I first got cyano I was brand new to keeping aquariums, *my first ever tank was my saltwater tank*, so I didn't exactly think much of it. Then it started getting quite invasive, and started growing on the rock, and it became long and stringy, and my clowns started rubbing in it. I got worried, went to my LFS, and I was told that I should get some Chemiclean. Plus, my cyano was gray and turning black, and they told me that means it was dying anyways. I got rid of it with Chemiclean, then about a week later it came back. I would suggest using it, and then when its all gone, keep using it for a few days, AND FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS. Then about 6 months later a minor outbreak happened, cleaned it up and now my sand is all clean. Now I have to deal with this horrendous GHA which never leaves...
I don’t think you quite understand what a Harem is. A group of juvenile clownfish would be pretty much the opposite of a Harem, which is where females only live! 😀
you need to be careful adding different Bubble tip nems to the same tank they will have a chemical warfare and your tank will become the war zone. it is a general rule to only keep one nem and its own splits in the same tank.
Interesting. My understanding was that adding the same specified of anemone just with different colors wouldn’t cause any problems. Do you have experience with this problem?
Thanks for the shout!
Thanks you for not only making amazing content but letting me use it in my video!!
The shout? Not JUST a shout, you’re a zoa guru!!!
Great vid! So glad to see the nems doing good!! Can’t wait till you get the harem tank filled with more!

Glad you like them!
Very interesting video :) It was a real pleasure to watch it :)
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
nems' are lookin much better! enjoying your updates, very informative. keep up the great vids you're doing wonders for the hobby :)
Thanks all around! I'm starting to be cautiously optimistic for the nems! And thanks for the kind words about the videos!

Frag is basically just a small little off shoot of a coral meant for sale/growing out. Like cutting off a leaf from a big plant to duplicate it
Ditto what Max said! And I think I have an email from you that I'll get back to soon! :-)
Fragmaster Matthew!! 😁 good job. Your video content gets better & better my friend.. hope the nems make a full recovery
That's the plan! :-)
Thank you for the knowledge you share always I more happy to go true the hobby
Thanks Alex!
You picked up a lot of nice pieces

This looks super interesting and doesn’t contain any antibiotics. I think I may give this a go and combine it with snow. Thanks for the tip!
Maybe boost the flow up closer to the bottom of the tank
Yeah, that's a great idea. I'll do it right now!
@@MyFirstFishTank be warned your tank might get a bit cloudy but the filter should clear it up in no time
Nice! Do you happen to have a little update on desk tank? Like what are the ammonia levels, if any?

That is a huge heads up. I didn’t even know it was called a St. Thomas. What makes you think it will split? And does it split just like anemones do?
@@MyFirstFishTank I used to have one just like that. It got to about that size and split at the mouth. It's guts spilled out for a couple of days while splitting.

Nice zoa rock! It has inspired me to do one in my tank.
Go for it!
Does anyone think that 90 percent water changes is causing low nitrates and phosphates for that nem ?
I have always wanted to try a black out to see if that would work.
Yeah, it's definitely photosynthetic!

This🌺🌸💐🏵🍁 zoanties corals are the most popular ever
Great video👍
Thanks Cristina!
Awesome!
You’re awesome!
Try dosing a little phyto on the cyano
Good idea!
Are u dosing mb7 for the biopellets?
All for the zoas
Me too!
Do anemones like having high flow pointed at them? those powerheads are pointed straight at it. or does the basket its in bread the flow?

@@MyFirstFishTank ah ok ok I guess I should move some of the powerheads around in my tank to create a bit more flow around them then :D
Hey if they seem happy right now, I'd say just leave them. Nems tend to hate change!
TROCHUS snails for the CYANO, they’re the best
Really?!?! Trochus are so expensive these days, that I've been buying mainly Astrea snails!
@@MyFirstFishTank they are worth the money, I work at a LFS in Huntington Beach and we have them for $4.98 or 5 for $20
That's not too bad!
Hey I heard you’re from the CV from a fellow reefer! That true?
Dang right! I'm in Palm Desert near 111. Where you at?
@@MyFirstFishTankThats awesome!! Indio near 111!
try to change your flow for your cyano problem

Tarantino into reef keeping?
Ha, hardly! But I like making my videos look cool!
Forget the bubble tips stick some carpet nems in thier
Ha, you aren't the first person to say that! Can I do carpets with bubbles?
@@MyFirstFishTank yes
Hmmm.. I will be thinking about this long and hard!!!
Chemiclean and flow got rid of my cyano.
Yeah, chemiclean always works for me too, but then I sometimes get dinos right after which are so much worse! Any suggestions there?
@@MyFirstFishTank i tripled my flow too, so start with that.
Vibrant and Dr. Tim’s. It will take 2 weeks to see the real results but after 2 months it will be really gone.
Dr. Tim's one and only?
I got rid of cyano with more flow. Just sayin..
Yeah, not a bad suggestion for sure!
