I wonder if the color change of the visor at the end could be a return to Beam Switching in MP1 and that this time when you switch beams all the colors on the suit change to the beam color. Like maybe the pink/purple look could mean she is currently using something like Wave Beam.
This is exactly the kind of video I've been wanting to see for Beyond, stellar job. I absolutely cannot wait for this game to drop, if I could tell my 15 year old self that we'd be getting another Prime game 18 years later I'd shit a brick 😂
I have to wonder if Prime 4 could be a more open world Metroid like the OG Metroid was and Prime 3 was initially planned to be. I wouldn't be opposed to it. If you're gonna bring back Prime, I feel like it shouldn't be just another standard affair. This game needs to reinvigorate Prime like Dread did the mainline series. (I know Dread isn't open world; that's not the point I'm making.)
They said it was going to focus on one planet so who knows. But I have also heard that it's going to be very stealth based and isolated like how Dread was..
I'm impressed. I honestly didn't think someone could find even more details in this extremely short trailer, but I still learned 3 or 4 new things. Great job.
To note about the top exit of the gunship, the gaps in the plating atop the ship in Prime 3 looks like it can open for entry/exit. It seems to be used when the ship is NOT touching down/landing, whereas the elevator hatch underneath is used when the ship is landed, since the platform doubles as part of the landing gear, akin to the shrouds around the guns. As a side note, I think it'd be neat if we got to actually use the functions seen in Prime 3 while in the cockpit. Maybe piloting the ship ourselves for a bombing/strafing run, or getting to play around with the ship grapple.
I'm a new subscriber as of today after seeing your shorts on the various suit designs (dread was my first and only game I've played in the series) but I can instantly tell how much effort you put into the video. While I won't be playing beyond myself as I just can't get into first person games I will say that this one looks stunning and I'll definitely have to watch a playthrough of the main 4 prime games to catch up on the lore.
12:34 ngl, those big doors make me wonder if the mechs from FF return. I don't think they would play a huge role in the game, but maybe you see them get destroyed during the battle, just to show how dangerous the pirates and/or Sylux are in this game. It would also just be cool fanservice to see those guys in a more "realistic" Prime graphic style.
To be honest, I rewatch the trailer just to listen to the Space Pirate theme Edit: I was screaming like a little girl when Prime 4's trailer started and with the text showed up and then Samus's entrance
Another thing is I have given the Pirate destroyer a class name: The Brigantine class Destroyer. I chose this cause in the Age of Sail, Brigantines (as well as Brigs) were commonly favoured as pirate vessels, this was because they had a decent cargo capacity and weapons complement but also they are incredibly agile and fast for their size being essentially the Destroyer type vessel of the age of sail.
I'd be more for the Gravity suit "feature" if they had an in universe explanation for the change. I'd even accept a very basic "it's just a partial activation to save power". BUuut I'd much prefer a Dread or SR style redesign where the Gravity Suit has it's own design. But if they do bring it back, it's probably because they want Samus to feel less "start with nothing", but also want to keep her iconic look.
Happy Pride Month! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ I'm crazy excited as I've just found out you can play Metroid Prime Trilogy in VR w/ Dolphin and my younger self pre-cracked self never DREAMED I'd get to transition AND STEP INTO THE POWER SUIT MYSELF! Gonna replay the whole Trilogy in VR to get myself prepped for Prime4!
@@thebrowniecokegamer I've looked into getting it on quest 2 and sadly it seemed to need a vr capable pc last I checked :( Pretty sure it is free though
My theory for the jingle is that it will be different depending on context. I mean, there's "Yeah! Samus is here!" that we're so used to. But what if this time around, the jingle progresses from this minor key to something more uplifting as we progress in an area?
25:19 That's not what physicists say at all, Black Wholes and wormholes are different things, Wormholes are basically just an idea, lf what would happen if a black hole connected to a whitehole (and white holes can't actually physically exist)
A little thing to note about the year Beyond would be set in: While it’s not certain how much time is passed between Zero Mission and Prime, the Trilogy art booklet states Prime takes place 3 years after Zero Mission, so this means the whole trilogy is set in 20X8-20X9 assuming Zero Mission is set in 20X5. So Prime 4 wouldn’t be set between Super and Fusion, especially when you consider that Samus has the same gunship she used in Corruption.
Man its great to see so many others that love Metroid this much. Metroid Prime is one of the best games ever made imo. The first Metroid prime is my favorite videogame of all time and metroid is my favorite game series with Prime games at the top of the list. Prime 4 looks absolutely incredible and this video is an EXCELLENT analysis of the footage we have access to so far. The music is something im very curious about and i had the same kind of feeling as you did upon hearing the jarring odd version of the "Samus emerging" music. I adore the music from the Prime games and still have and listen to CDs i burned as a kid of all my favorite tracks. I left the outdated CD player in my car specifically to be able to listen to my old CDs i burned of videogame music and the only surviving recording of me and the keyboard player from my high school era rock band playing some medleys of Prime 2 echoes music. The title screen theme, Torvus Bog and a terrible attempt of trying to shred the sanctuary fortress theme on guitar 😂. Anyways... awesome video man. Ill watch as many you can make, keepm comin
My question is what design they'll use for Zero Suit Samus: the version of her they remastered based on the original Metroid Prime, or the post-Zero Mission design that Corruption was based on.
I can't wait to see the new suits she's gonna get, my favorite is the light suit since it looks so slick and elegant but I hope one from this game can dethrone it, also I really really really want there to be dedicated beams like prime 1, prime 3 felt wrong with them being just slight upgrades and I really hope they go all out on creativity, we've seen enough wave, ice and plasma beams, same for gravity suit, something fresh and new would make this game even more impacting
I hope they never bring back beam switching. It’s such an inherently clunky mechanic. Takes away all the flow from combat. Switching between missile types was always better anyways.
There should be some new weapons systems if the UI is anything to go of, so even if they aren't beams at least there should still be one way to choose different shooting mechanisms in real time.
1. 20X9 I believe the X is 2. I start off with the date, 2000 or 2003. Either is fine. This is when the Galactic Federation is established. Again, for me, either date works because if Samus is 3 in the manga, and 2000 is now 2003, I can think of Samus being 3 when the Federation was established. This leaves little room for 20X5 to be anything beyond 2. Samus would be 25 during this year, when coincides with her young appearance. Thus, 20X5 is 2025. This also works because shortly after the Federation was established, space pirates attacked. K-2L is one of those places. I am aware that fans might use the timeline developed by Metroid Database, and although you go with the 2080s, MDb has used 2075, partly because of Admiral Dane's presumed age (he is an admiral), the rumor that he was raised by space pirates, and because for the one who developed this, 2075 just sounds cool. (It does, but I disagree with X being 7.) Here is a detail they mention. "The rumor surrounding Fleet Admiral Dane would not have existed if Space Pirate raids had not been occurring while he was a child." This can be easily addressed. The term "space pirate" can simply be a more recent term that originated in, say, 2003. Prior to that, the term wouldn't be part of colloquial speech. This doesn't mean the organisms themselves, the Urtraghus, didn't exist. They could have orphaned Admiral Dane, and were then later called space pirates. Kihunters are called space pirates as well, but they're from a different galaxy. They were only given such name by association. Anyway. 2. Samus' fanfare I am with you on Samus' fanfare. I am not a fan of it, much less with the music I have heard so far. (The space pirate theme, however, is pretty cool, as always.) The fanfare sounds too, I don't know, ecclesiastical. Add a pipe organ while they're at it. Then there's the closing theme of the trailer, which is much too like an RPG. I certainly don't get any Metroid atmosphere from it. We'll see what the OST is like when it's out, however. Hopefully there are some more Metroidy themes. 3. Shout out and Metroid II Hey! Hahaha! I wasn't expecting a shout out! Much appreciated! When I first saw Samus' barrier suit, it really stood out to me, and it had me look back at some previous art designs. Metroid II stood out, and the 30 missiles also reminded me of the game's starting amount. I don't know if Beyond will be making references to previous Metroid games, but if time traveling is involved, it would be a nice touch to throwbacks. 4. Galactic Federation Research Facility location That planet being Aether would be interesting, but I couldn't imagine it being a planet being overtaken by the Federation. It would come of as insensitive and careless, given the Luminoth already had 50 years of hell with the Ing. I am hoping Beyond will take place on Cylosis, however. It would be a bummer to know of this planet and its association with Sylux, only for it not to be the planet Samus visits. 5. Super Metroid title screen Now that is a cool catch. I'm telling you, I hope we get throwbacks, given the potential nature of temporal mechanics. And those holograms are a pretty good catch as well. I haven't heard anyone say anything about those. 6. Power suit design I really like this new design. I have been a proponent of having the power suit look more realistic. Samus doesn't look top-heavy. Her waist is more realistic. Her pauldrons are smaller, which no longer obstructs her peripheral vision.
@@groudonor12 I don't, Think about it this would allow new suits to take hold much like the Gravity Boost from MP2E and give us the colored highlights that were so unfortunately missing on the Gravity in Dread
Ima be real with you, the jingle? Doesnt really sound sad or somber to me, it gives me mroe "a return" vibes then anything else, it sounds like its saying: "the LEGENDARY bounty hunter samus aran finally returns" Like it feels like it was specifically made for this reveal, just to hype up samus, i dead ass don't know where you're getting the somber vibes, either way good video.
No way they're bringing back a Gravity Feature, I don't believe it for a second. No one liked that, and Samus has had the Gravity Suit in multiple games since then. I don't think it's ever coming back. This is something new
My theory for the Samus Jingle sounding the way it does probably has do with the time placement of Prime 4 taking place the time gap between Super Metroid & Fusion. Like Other M.
I'm curious if they are finally leaning into the scary side of metroid and making a survival horror style game. Me and my friend has always had the idea that metroid could very easily be a very scary game if they leaned into it more
anyone else remember those debates where they said all metroids are dead because phazon is gone. seems they forgot what evolutionary monsters the metroids are.
Big agree on missiles feeling too weak without rapid fire. I loved going rambo with the missiles in the 2D games and not buffing normal missiles to account for that or giving super missiles guarantees they’ll become irrelevant to enemies that aren’t immune to beams
33:45 I think it's possible this shot just features a lower-poly model to save on resources during the cutscene, since Samus is so far away. Though that doesn't explain the pink visor one bit.
For the Federation Emblems, I can see one being a wider use emblem among the Federation armed forces, while the ones from Prime 2 and 3 is a specific branch, such as Marines/Space Force/Navy/what ever they call it.
I agree with the suit design. And I do believe the purple lights are for opening portals. But, I think you can agree if they did do a Gravity Feature, DO WHAT HALO INFINITE DID WITH IT'S SPARTAN ENERGY SHIELDS! A semi transparent light with tiny shapes all around Samus. Not just a simple glow around the edges of Samus's suit.
real shame they did not bring back some of the staff that made the OG trilogy that left, cause they would have loved to work on this. also i hope this game does not turn into another Halo 4 which completely sent the franchise into a downward spiral.
@@shadowdragonx07 not all of them, they are missing some of the OG crew E.G. Jack Matthews for example left after the Prime Trilogy (the all in one package) came out. they had expressed if they had the chance they would have loved to have worked on the project with newer and old staff.
If they make it a cross release, I hope that the enhancements are either built into the cartridge and will activate on Switch 2, or there will at least be an update exclusive to Switch 2. I also LOVE the way her suit looks now.
Didn't even think about it until now but man if they really do tinker with time travel theres A LOT of old/gold bosses and places they could revisit, like Metroid Prime/Dark Samus. I would only want that stuff to be small cameo like ofc but I wouldn't mind it at all. If anything i hope this whole time travel thing possibly sets up future game(s), maybe since the tone is so ominous with this Sylux will succeed in whatever it is he's doing and Samus will have to go on an Avengers like time travel quest over the course of multiple games to finally stop him, making Sylux the big bad of multiple games going forward like Dark Samus/Metroid Prime. That or Sylux becomes the next Metroid Prime himself since he's so obsessed with them. This game taking place after Super Metroid and possibly even after Dread is so interesting and cool. Also love the Obi Wan Hello there at the beginning of the video lmao. Great content man i just found your channel, im a big Metroid guy myself👍🏻
That cosplay comment, exactly what I was thinking. The, uhhh, supernova device... Event Horizon doohickey... Purple because it reflects the gravity suit, gravity which would be needed for time travel. Just a thought. Curious about the controls for the game, and more-over the missile select. I think each direction would have a selection of it's own, like; Up would be beam selection, Left for missile selection, Right for grapple beam and other accessories, and down for aeon abilities or something. Hold to select, tap to activate/deactivate. Well, I'm excited to play either way. Thanks for the video!
@@Crafty_boy70 I was just watching his shorts when this came on to my feed, and he mentioned I don't hate green but you'll never believe me in one of his reviewing Metroid power suits videos. So I thought it kind of be a so I thought it would be a little funny to mention it
For the planets, Norion is lush specifically BECAUSE of active terraforming efforts by Aurora Unit 486. It's probable the planet isn't uniform, with many biomes. But assuming it's not, I can't bring myself to think this is Aether either. It's actively populated by the Luminoth for starters, but also Aether is a rogue planet with no host star; all of its light coming from the planetary energy through the controllers. Seeing a sun in the sky here immediately rules out Aether.
You have no idea how much I want to see a Metroid RTS or FPS Multiplayer. Being able to play as Space Pirates, or the Federation. The Battle in this Gameplay Trailer was reinvigorating. Seeing the Fed Marines duking it out with Pirates, outside of Cutscenes. Think about it. Thanks to the Prime series Developers would have plenty of material to work with. The large Fed Force Mechs are tanks, The Pirates have that massive Drone from Prime 3 as their counterpart. There's a lot.
28:00 but I think it is, imagine creating a game with smooth optimization and such good graphics that people believe it was made for more powerful hardware than it actually was. That’s a testament to how well RS did with this game and I think they should be proud of it.
It’s been a long as time since I played fusion and seeing just that small clip sent me damn near into fight or flight no tiny spite stokes more fear and panic into me than SA-X that thing fucking scares me
Maybe we'll finally be introduced to the Ylla, another super race known by both the Luminoth and Bryyonians and likely also the Chozo. Also, personally, I liked the gravity feature of Other M, but maybe that's just me.
Side note. I'm pretty sure you're aware of it but you, and most other analysies I've seen, didn't bring it up. The game not only takes place after Super Metroid but also after Other M as that is implied to be only a few weeks after Super, given what Samus says in the opening narration. This can have some interesting story potential as I always assumed the reason why Sylux hates the Federation is because he was subject to experimentation under the corrupt and power hungry 'ringleaders' . Now that Samus had to deal with them as well (even if it wasn't the worst of it yet) makes me wonder if that could be used to set up a new kind of dynamic now that Samus actually understands where Sylux's hatred is coming from.
The Samus’s model looks like it’s a modified version of the MP3 Varia, where it was much more anatomically “accurate”. I personally didn’t like it then and don’t like it now. I prefer the very exaggerated and bulky MP1/Remastered Varia. Loved those oversize shoulder generators and the general smoothness. It’s the classic Samus silhouette. She now looks more like a real person cosplaying as Samus, rather than Samus herself. And takes away from the grandness and powerful presence that she had, in my opinion. The environments look sort of bland, vacant and plastic-like. And the final environment at the end, the rainforest/jungle, is uncomfortably reminiscent of something we’d see in Other M. Maybe it’s the saturation of colour, and it’s lacking a colour filter as many worlds in the Prime games had. Sylux looks fantastic. Really like his presentation and the textures. The music sounds amazing. Essentially and most notably in the final area. It still retains the classic MP1 atmospheric timbre, but has a far stronger melodic presence as opposed to just enhanced ambient music. My final thought which isn’t based on anything per se in the trailer, is that I hope the game keeps Samus alone and isolated as she normally is. I absolutely detested the constant presence of the Galactic Federation in MP3 and Other M. These are my thoughts. As critical as they are, they’re just my opinions. I’ve been a fan of the Metroid series for over twenty years, and want both the Series and this game to succeed.
Hilarious how you said the same thing he said about a Samus cosplay yet you two have completely different opinions on the suit. And the jungle seems purely focused on nature, Other M has plenty of metallic aesthetics surrounding Sector 1.
@@Leee275I guess it just comes down to personal preference. With the comment I made, I was referring to the over saturation of colour and small localised spots of high contrasting colour, to clarify.
@@robertwyatt3912I don’t think that’s true at all. The Prime 1/Remastered Power and Varia suits are very faithful to Return of Samus on the GB and Super Metroid, as well as the SA-X from Fusion. The MP4 Varia is closest in design and proportion to the MP2 & 3 Varia as well as Fusion suit, the latter of which was a _radical_ departure from the original design in terms of proportion and design. Thankfully, no suit designs reflect the original Metroid design, where it was heavily 70s and 80s steampunk inspired.

Killer review. Commenting for the algorithm gods
Great job.
The "gravity feature" is actually a color bug dont worry about it
To note about the top exit of the gunship, the gaps in the plating atop the ship in Prime 3 looks like it can open for entry/exit.
No pressure if you're set on not playing it, but I will say that the prime games don't really feel like first person shooters at all
I hadn't made the moch-troid connection before.
I'd imagine that they're going to look like a clone of Samus, but with one eye.
I think a gravity feature could work as long as it exist because of any new suits we’ll get
12:34 ngl, those big doors make me wonder if the mechs from FF return. I don't think they would play a huge role in the game, but maybe you see them get destroyed during the battle, just to show how dangerous the pirates and/or Sylux are in this game. It would also just be cool fanservice to see those guys in a more "realistic" Prime graphic style.
To be honest, I rewatch the trailer just to listen to the Space Pirate theme
Edit: I was screaming like a little girl when Prime 4's trailer started and with the text showed up and then Samus's entrance
Bit off topic, but I love your new avatar's design.
awesome vid, stoaked to play this and for your suit ranking shorts if you decide to continue them
I recently reheard the metroid hunters ost and even tho the guitar riff in sylux scene has nothing to do with his theme, it somehow feels.... Hunters
I'm crazy excited as I've just found out you can play Metroid Prime Trilogy in VR w/ Dolphin and my younger self pre-cracked self never DREAMED I'd get to transition AND STEP INTO THE POWER SUIT MYSELF! Gonna replay the whole Trilogy in VR to get myself prepped for Prime4!
is it on metaquest 2 and is it free?
@@thebrowniecokegamer I've looked into getting it on quest 2 and sadly it seemed to need a vr capable pc last I checked :(
Pretty sure it is free though
My theory for the jingle is that it will be different depending on context. I mean, there's "Yeah! Samus is here!" that we're so used to. But what if this time around, the jingle progresses from this minor key to something more uplifting as we progress in an area?
I hope there's some dogfighting between her gunship and the Delano 7.😎
Bim bim bim nice vid
Worth the wait for the review. I just can't stand waiting for next year. But, I'm sure that too will be well worth the wait.
I've been waiting for this moment, for all of my life. Oh Lord.
1. 20X9
I believe the X is 2.
"The rumor surrounding Fleet Admiral Dane would not have existed if Space Pirate raids had not been occurring while he was a child."
This can be easily addressed. Anyway.
2. Samus' fanfare
I am with you on Samus' fanfare.
3. Shout out and Metroid II
Hey!
4. Galactic Federation Research Facility location
That planet being Aether would be interesting, but I couldn't imagine it being a planet being overtaken by the Federation. It would come of as insensitive and careless, given the Luminoth already had 50 years of hell with the Ing. I am hoping Beyond will take place on Cylosis, however. It would be a bummer to know of this planet and its association with Sylux, only for it not to be the planet Samus visits.
5. Super Metroid title screen
Now that is a cool catch. I'm telling you, I hope we get throwbacks, given the potential nature of temporal mechanics. And those holograms are a pretty good catch as well. I haven't heard anyone say anything about those.
6. Power suit design
I really like this new design. I have been a proponent of having the power suit look more realistic. Samus doesn't look top-heavy. Her waist is more realistic. Her pauldrons are smaller, which no longer obstructs her peripheral vision.
It is possible that it is indeed a Gravity Feature in place of new suits but allow the same functions as gravity suits
I hate that
@@groudonor12 I don't, Think about it this would allow new suits to take hold much like the Gravity Boost from MP2E and give us the colored highlights that were so unfortunately missing on the Gravity in Dread
RAAAAAAAAH METROID
I didn't even notice that the "Metroids" were actually Moc-droids and I'm mat at myself for missing this! also the Metroid Fusion PTSD is relatable.
No way they're bringing back a Gravity Feature, I don't believe it for a second. No one liked that, and Samus has had the Gravity Suit in multiple games since then. I don't think it's ever coming back. This is something new
7:35 Four options could mean four missiles to pick from
- Seeker Missile
- Super Missile
- Ice Missile
- Normal Missile
GENERAL METROID GUY, you are a bold one!
This video made me want to play this game so bad all of a sudden. Praying we can get prime 2 and 3 remastered before beyond comes out
My theory for the Samus Jingle sounding the way it does probably has do with the time placement of Prime 4 taking place the time gap between Super Metroid & Fusion. Like Other M.
I'm curious if they are finally leaning into the scary side of metroid and making a survival horror style game. Me and my friend has always had the idea that metroid could very easily be a very scary game if they leaned into it more
What are you talking about? Metroid has ALWAYS been horror survival. Have you not played Metroid titles like Fusion or Prime 2 😂😂..
@groudonor12 I have but I didn't find them scary at all. I feel like they should lean into it harder
Oh my god. They're actually doing it.
anyone else remember those debates where they said all metroids are dead because phazon is gone.
seems they forgot what evolutionary monsters the metroids are.
I personally hope that Sylux doesnt speak, let his actions speak for him
Big agree on missiles feeling too weak without rapid fire. I loved going rambo with the missiles in the 2D games and not buffing normal missiles to account for that or giving super missiles guarantees they’ll become irrelevant to enemies that aren’t immune to beams
This is becoming the Platinum age for Metroid games.
It's been 84 years....
33:45 I think it's possible this shot just features a lower-poly model to save on resources during the cutscene, since Samus is so far away.
Though that doesn't explain the pink visor one bit.
The prophesy was spoken many years ago, and now is being fulfilled.
Happy Pride!!!
Thank you for all of your time. I hope getting to see prime 4 was enjoyable, and I really hope the day is good for you.
That jingle... amazing.
We need to know about the orange phazon in the impact crater and why Phaze had Ing on it.
I really hope if they do time travel it’s like back to the future’s and not a Zelda timeline split.
Hmmm no, it's going to be more akin to Echoes and we'll see the destruction caused by the Galactic Federation
If this doesn’t become game of the year 2025, I don’t know what will.
real shame they did not bring back some of the staff that made the OG trilogy that left, cause they would have loved to work on this. also i hope this game does not turn into another Halo 4 which completely sent the franchise into a downward spiral.
WTF are chu btcing at prime 4s being made BY the vwy SAME ppl tat MADE the prime twiligy dult 😒
@@shadowdragonx07 not all of them, they are missing some of the OG crew E.G. Jack Matthews for example left after the Prime Trilogy (the all in one package) came out. they had expressed if they had the chance they would have loved to have worked on the project with newer and old staff.
@@Duke_of_Petchington chya suu tey fired a few peeps big deal fwom wth i heard some deserved it tbh 🙄
I think I prefer the new charge beam look, the blue surrounding the yellow, and its smaller size makes it feel more concentrated
33:26 “Remember me?”
I’d love to see Anthony Higgs get his own game.
If they make it a cross release, I hope that the enhancements are either built into the cartridge and will activate on Switch 2, or there will at least be an update exclusive to Switch 2. I also LOVE the way her suit looks now.
the jingle is more polished, its ok, youre stuck in the past if you want everything to be the same, that shows that they're taking the game seriously.
The absolute madlad made a 40 minute video on a 4 minute trailer
The reason they changed the jingle at the beginning is that it's way cooler, and epic.
The trailer for Metroid prime 4 was really good and It’s been seven years. And we are going to get another Good game!
Yayyy. Happy that the guy who hates green on samus is able to share his opinions
does he actually hate the green? I thought he just preferred blue.
27:00 They better add the Speed Booster to this game and not scrapped like prime 1.
It’s been a long as time since I played fusion and seeing just that small clip sent me damn near into fight or flight no tiny spite stokes more fear and panic into me than SA-X that thing fucking scares me
At least it’s finally happening
I really hope we get a lot of cool new ships and lore, federation and pirate.
I definitely should've explored the implications of that a lot more when I brought it up. That's worth a video of its own
X can be any number, it doesn't mean it's after Super
This version of samus is much closer to her proportions in the 2d games
@@arc7375It's a Prime game, in no way will that area feel like Other M during gameplay.
We better be able to unlock the dread suit for having a dread save file.
