Holy shit I thought you must have been joking but you ain't kidding. Nintendo really did that. Looks like it was an educational flash card or something but still that is real.
I am fully convinced that, if the duck hunt dog could talk, he would absolutely say it, just to be a shitheel and piss everyone off.
And the ducks would yell it at you as they fly by

13:22 hello, black kingdom hearts fan here, while there ARE Orginal dark skin characters in the series, most of them are antagonists or dead unfortunately, HOWEVER Sora does go to the big hero 6 world and he DOES have positive interactions with wasabi,so he does know what a black person is.
Donald is 100% racist tho
Donald was literally in Nazi Germany, bro's Uber racist
He was also in the Navy for some reason in DuckTales, so idk
Never forget Micky Mouse did blackface.
I mean, let's not forget who Donald supported in the 40's.
Donald says slurs constantly offscreen
Can confirm, but also wanna add that Ansem the Wise did blackface and Sora did not react in any way. Take that how you will
One of the mechanics Isabelle is tied to is cleaning up the speech of others in the form of resetting villager's custom catch phrases, there is no way she would say it.
Dude, Isabelle would whisper when she says "frick," there is no timeline where she'd say the N word
Also, political figure as the Mayor's assistant
and even if she was black I'm 100% sure she STILL wouldn't say it
Yep.
Honestly I don't think she even knows what the n word even is
@@metal_pipe9764 Isabelle would find out about the word from a report that a "cranky" villager called someone that, and then immediately kick them out and ban them from the town.
If Sora got lost in the Gummi Ship and accidentally found himself in the Song of the South world, he’d probably say it solely out of cluelessness.
King Dedede should get a "doesn't say it anymore" category.
He has a history of saying it 10 years ago and has since cleaned up his act. He puts on a tough air, but is secretly hoping nobody finds his old twitter archives.
I see the optimism, as well as the self reflection you have in mind.
Trust me, we agree Dedede is a good guy at the end of the day.
King Dedede isnt hateful. Just a victim of older brother syndrome
You could also apply this to Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong as Donkey and Diddy may, in fact, speak in Donkey Kong 64. True they didn't cuss or anything like it but they do understand and "speak" words.
yesss i was thinking the same thing. papa johns energy
yes exactly, dedede definitely said it back in his dreamland days (assuming it exists in kirby obviously) but has grown and is so embarrassed and ashamed
it would probably take a lot of prodding to get him to outright apologize but he'd definitely refuse to say it again and say that its wrong to say it
was not expecting so many people in "is Ganondorf black"
Ridley would say it exclusively to black people, he only says it specifically to upset someone, not because he actually has any particular hatred for them. At least anymore than he does for anything else that breathes.

Ridley says every slur to everyone. When faced with a straight white man, Ridley will start doing research to find shit that oddends them just to say it. He is not racist. He just enjoys misery.

"You can tell by these lists who has and hasn't played fire emblem" truest words ever spoken
I'm pretty sure this guy hasn't. He puts Link and Hero in the "can't talk" category for being silent protagonists, but gives answers for several Fire Emblem silent protagonists.
@@darrenmacqueen9884 Lol you are the guy who doesn't play FE. None of the FE reps are silent protagonists. The closest is Byleth but in every support conversation with him theres still dialog options that characters react to and he has full lines and everything in Three Hopes.
@fluffystagbeetle4526 I admit Three Houses was the first one I played since Radiant Dawn, I assumed there were others. I thought I heard Robin was. But Byleth is a silent protagonist. Just as silent as Link. Link also gets dialogue options.
And I don't play the Dynasty Warrior style games. That's not canon anyway. Just as canon as all the Zelda manga Link talks in.
Plus he gives answers for Ness, Pokemon Trainer, and so on as well. There is just no consistency here. They are also silent protagonists just like Link and Hero.
@@darrenmacqueen9884 Ok well I am not making the argument about Link. I think the tier byleth is in is fine
@fluffystagbeetle4526 Me too. It's the inconsistency that bothers me. If he's going to give Ness, Mario, Byleth, Pokemon Trainer, etc, answers he should do the same for Hero and Link. They are all silent protagonists. The "can't talk" tier should be reserved for characters who canonically can't talk. Like Pokemon, Kirby, etc. I never played Dragon Quest, but Link can talk.
If wario is one thing, it's a business man. Maybe not a great one, but i think he'd get Close to saying it, realize the PR scandal, then back off quietly
Alternatively he knows he can profit off the outrage
Mythra would definitely use the "I have black friends" excuse
And by that she means Minoth.
Perun would not cosign that usage, but she IS an Aegis, so what're you gonna do?
Honestly? I'd just put her in Gamer-tier.
Looking back though, there are a lot of NPCs in XC2 that have dark skin. Corrine is probably the clearest example (other than Perun).
Aside from skin-color though... I feel the need to quote Tora from Corvin's Blade Quest: "Marcel is big racist."
She only awakened immediately after the one black party member died base game. Food for thought.
Also for other protags.
Melia: no (political)
Lora: probably not
Jin: no, cookout is my interpretation as he sympathizes with historical baggage of the word. His poetry is n-word free.
Noah: probably not. He doesn’t even know it and would oppose using it on introduction.
Mio: probably not. Even if she knew Taion (has black VA) much longer, she is too considerate/sweet.
Matthew: “I have an N word pass”. In similar situation to Little Mac. But his descendants eventually are black (both Monica and Ghondor II even have black VAs), but he can’t.
Elma: is explicitly black, beyond “Is Ganondorf black?”
Chapter 4 and Torna Mythra definitely would say it. Pyra would never though
Terry wouldn’t just be invited to the cookout, he’d be invited to EVERY cookout. Dude’s the ultimate homie.
Unfortunately didn’t mention Dark Pit literally being called Black Pit in Japan
Shouldn't Steve go into, "Can be black?" They even added a canonical black player character into Minecraft recently.
Steve is a separate character tho. Both in smash and in Minecraft. He's not the player. They just have him as the default male skin. But considering what he does to the native villagers.........he may be in the "invented slavery" tier

Lucas should be invited to the cookout, as:
• he doesn't even know what the N word is
• has a black friend (Reggie), whom he indirectly avenges by fighting the literal Nazi pigs that destroyed his house
• fights actual nazis and the racist peddler that turned Tazmily Village into a cyberpunk dystopia

So real. Also something of note is that Reggie is a pretty racist caricature of a Black person so we should question Itoi
Agreed! Lucas is our anti-fascist king!
@@skld-xm Not really. Reggie is a pretty cool guy. I do think his appearance is stereotypical, but it isn't really racist
@@doodlesyoru2108 I... believe it still to be racist; the exaggerated appearance, while it's likely no harm was intended, still comes across as racist. More so a reflection of internalized racism from Itoi and the prevalent issue of Japanese representation of BIPOC. right, about that, does anyone, including the kid, care that terry adopted the kid of his fathers murderer after said murderer died?
@@ehhorve857 In the case for Rock Howard, he knew of his father's existence, growing up living a modest life with his mother in a small apartment, and was once interested with getting to know him. But when his mother contracted a rare disease, Rock tried his best (and failed) to nurse her to health. As her illness worsened, Rock went to Geese Tower and met his father for the first time in his life, pleaded for medical aid and told him that Marie desperately wanted to see him.
Geese would have nothing to do with the matter and sent Rock away. Marie reportedly died the same night and Rock has had a grudge against his father ever since. When Terry and Geese had their final confrontation in ‘Fatal Fury 3’ and following his death, Rock had a complicated mix of loneliness and joy knowing that his father died.
Naturally, Terry began to feel the weight of the consequences of his path of vengeance for his father, learning that Rock was Geese's son. After the tournament in Real Bout, Rock challenges Terry to a fight, which Terry quietly accepts. Though a beginner, Rock kept up the fight from day to night, as something awoke inside of him, being inspired by Terry's will to carve his own way through life positively. Impressed by Rock's fighting spirit and hoping to put the past behind him, Terry adopts Rock and they begin their travels together.
While their relationship was soured somewhat after the conclusion of Mark of the Wolves (Rock learning Geese had a brother and said uncle claims Rock’s mother is still alive, etc), I’d say Rock is fine with Terry being one of the few positive role models in his life, especially when Geese told his only flesh and blood son to bugger off.

It's interesting how much Dedede has changed over the years.
@@aquamarinerose5405 My assumption is he was always a good king. That time Kirby thought he was stealing everyone's food, he was probably going to door to door asking for donations for the food bank. Dedede is a good guy.
@@darrenmacqueen9884 I mean... I'll strongly disagree with that mostly because I think from a narrative standpoint the idea that he seriously had to learn to go from a selfish ass to a genuine King is a great arc that I won't have erased.
@aquamarinerose5405 But so early in the series we see him trying to protect the kingdom from Nightmare by removing the star rod. And Kirby just assumes Dedede is being evil. Which just makes me think Kirby just had the wrong idea about Dedede from the beginning. Isn't the last time he assumes the worst of Dedede and goes after him either. I haven't played EVERY Kirby game, but the first game is the only one I know of where Dedede is actually seen doing anything bad.
@@darrenmacqueen9884His way of dealing with Nightmare in Adventure was pretty terrible though, showing his selfishness at the time by not considering the consequences of his actions or just asking Kirby for help (Meta Knight at least had the excuse of testing Kirby). He’s also rather unnecessarily rude to Kirby in 64 and plenty of spinoffs too, so it’s no wonder why Kirby falsely blames him in Squeak Squad, which is later quite nicely rectified in Star Allies.
Link canonically talks. You chose dialogue options all the time, he explains things to other characters, Zelda's diaries in BotW say he talks. HE CAN TALK. I'M SO TIRED OF THIS
Yes he is a silent protagonist but he's not actually mute in canon. He's just introverted and doesn't talk a lot.

Minor correction, Kirby CAN talk in the games (the anime where he only says "poyo" isn't canon). His main phrase in the games and Smash bros is "Hai" which translates to "Yes". Didn't know Book of Mario got down like that 💀
Simon and Richter are probably from a time from before the word even existed.
Ok I actually looked it up because I was bored and it really does depend. The first documented use of the n word was in 1574, and simon and richter's games are set in 1691 and 1792 respectively. However, the first recorded use of it being a slur specifically was in 1775. So they'd probably both know of it, but in different contexts.
Simon probably wouldn't know it but Richter would
Disappointingly, KH never goes to The Princess & the Frog. Major missed opportunity.
Agree. Needs to happen in 4 or a future game.

“Is Mr. Game and Watch Black?”
I…I never thought to ask this.
3:07 Ganondorf is from the Gerudo Valley
So Gerudos are Black
Falco calling people monkeys? Who does he think he is, Frieza?
"ARE U GONNA LISTEN TO THAT MONKEY?"
@@BonitoJoe111 *WHO YOU THINK YOU IS, FRIEZA?*
2:51 Canonically. BOTW Link does talk. The reason we don't hear it is in a single journal entry you can find in Zelda's Diary in BOTW. He only speaks when the situation is important enough, because he knows that as the Hero, his words carry a lot of weight and power. However. Ganondorf, is a Gerudo (black) And although Link has black friends. Put him with Luigi. He'd definitely call Ganondorf "Gerudo Filth" if he got pissed off enough.
You could also argue Toon Link would definitely say it for the funny because he has a pass by some kid who doesn't know what the word even means. And Young Link would say it more than all Koopalings combined. He has only met one good Gerudo. "She's one of the good ones" he might even say.
Weirdly specific peeve on a non-serious video, but most Link's do talk, we just don't hear him talk as a player or see his text boxes, but he's canonically talking to other characters very regularly.
Also it's addressed in BotW that that Link can talk. He just doesn't an prefers to be silent and stoic for reasons I don't remember.

This is one of the most effortlessly funny videos I've seen in ages, I love it
This is exactly the question I was asking myself on Juneteenth. Now I can rest easy knowing that bowser jr. would call me a cotton-picker in a COD lobby. 13:40 Also perfect end to the video
Ridley would absolutely say it. He can talk, but he chooses not to most of the time so he appears as a mindless beast, so enemies underestimate him. But he has destroyed entire planets and committed enough genocide to make Hitler and Genghis Kahn shit their pants, Ridley would have absolutely no bother saying the hard R.
Also what do you mean by "Sonic is black"? This is new information.
This is gonna sound real racist but Sonic runs really fast, can't swim and his favorite food is chili dogs. Name one white dude who's favorite food is chili dogs.
Ganondorf only has N-word privileges if he adds "sand-" at the beginning.
If they ever make a Kirby movie Dedede NEEDS to be voiced by Ice Cube
12:06 Terry Bogard's favorite sport is literally basketball, he named one of his moves after it for god's sake
excellent visual layout on this video btw
11:19 Simon was before the N-word even existed, like the medieval era. I think Richter is around the French Revolution era though, so he would definitely say it
5:50 "is lucario ganondorf?"
Damn, we really need MattPat to come out of retirement to answer this important question.
8:44 WHAT! SONIC IS BLACK?
Idk, Sonic has a black skin, but I don't know what he's talking about
Some people think Sonic is black, some think he's white, I think he's blue. You're free to think whatever you want.
Heavy white boy energy but he would definitely claim to have a pass from Knuckles and he’s definitely a gamer
Sonic definitely would say it due to not understanding a word from an alien language (mockery in random sounds which sounds like the language's n word)
Sonic is fast fast=black
Sonic = black
dark pit is afro latino, argue with the wall
pit can’t say it tho he’s like “this apple juice got me bussin oooh chile” and magnus says “you can’t be saying that, white baby.”
If Viridi was in the convo, she'd totally say it. She's racist to ALL HUMANS
Not arguing, don’t bring out the wall, but why?
Dark pit would say he's pits DARK side
