8:11 Yes, 3282 is indeed incorrect. The number you should have gotten is 83. I think I know where your error came from. I believe that since you only need to consider the colours of half the pills, you divided the number of pill combinations for 4 pills, 6561, in half to get 3280.5 possibilities. However, the mistake is that to get the original 6561, you had to multiples four 9's together (9*9*9*9=6561) since each pill has 9 possible colour combinations. To ignore half of the pills, simply halving the number of possibilities isn't the way to go; we must half the number of 9's we need to multiply together, meaning we have 9*9=81 possibilities. We can verify that this works since we only need to count the possibilities of first two pills. Now, adding in the two non-pill victory screens gives us the total of 81+2=83 victory screens.

@@Swagpiondon’t forget to account for being able to play with anywhere from 1-7 dr marios on one team and the fact that any of them can play any of the three victory animations
About Dr. Mario's victory screens: 6561 = 9^4 This power of 4 comes from the fact Mario could "choose" one pill out of a set of 9 pills four different times, giving him 9 times 9 times 9 times 9 options. You pointed out that the last two pills will always be the same as the first two pills. This means that we can calculate the number of ending screens not by dividing 9^4 by 2, as you did, but by calculating 9^2. This is because Dr. Mario now chooses two pills, with 9 possible options for each pill. 9^2=81, so this means that there are 81 different ending screens with pills, totalling up to 83 different ending screens. Bonus thought: It might not be true that he can hold two pills that at exactly the same time. If he can't, then he has 9×8=72 different ending screens with pills, adding up to 74 ending screens in total.
I'm really excited to see THIS video revisited when Smash Ultimate is finally done with all its updates Seeing something like "Useless Smash Facts #1-5 Revisited REVISITED" would be funny
3282 seems WAYYY off in that case. 6561 came from 4 pills with 9 variations, so 9x9x9x9; 81x81 possibilities. Now there’s only two pills, so just 9x9; 81 possibilities. 81 + 2 is 83 total possibilities.
The snake codecs referring to brawl was on purpose. The reason they couldn’t bring back the voice actors is because the Japanese voice actor for the colonel had died. They retired the character out of respect for him.
The new number of Dr Mario victory screens would be 83. The way this works is since there are 9 different combinations and 2 different times any of these combinations can happen, the calculation to do would be 9^(2), or just 9 squared, which is 81, then I added the 2 other victory screens to get 83.
I got 83 too but my method was that each side can be 3 colors. And we have 4 sides for the 2 pills so that's 3^4 or 3x3x3x3 + that other 2 to get 83. Btw the wrong answer that he get was he divided the amount he get from the last video because there are 2 pills and not 4 lmao
In Japanese, Hero can say the names of his spells when he uses them. Since the spell names are different in English, the things Hero says would be inaccurate to the spell he’s using. The only reason this is a problem is because you can read the spell names mid-match and tell that the thing he says is not what that spell is called, so the voice clips were removed to avoid that.
@@andrewbravo6152 I know why they do it, it doesn't make it any less stupid and idiotic to me. Why don't they change the names for hadoken , tatsumaki , and shoryuken as well ? What's the point of having different names anyway ? Names exist so we can all refer to something and know what it is. So it only makes sense to have 1 name
Younes Layachi I agree that having the different names for different languages is dumb, since they use fantasy names for the spells anyway, but it’s how it’s done in the Dragon Quest series, so they have to do it in Smash Bros to represent the series properly. That’s also the reason why hadoken, tatsumaki, and shoryuken aren’t changed. Because those are their names in the English versions of Street Fighter, and changing them wouldn’t be representing the series properly.
xerosagas My guess is because the Heroes only have the Japanese voice actors. While I could see them ignoring the other 9 languages in Smash Bros because Dragon Quest has only had Japanese and English voice acting, they’d still either have to get the Japanese voice actors to try and speak the English spells, or get new voice actors entirely. They might not consider that worth the extra effort.
Quick question: Joker’s victory colors also change when he wins on Mementos when there is Persona 3 or 4 music playing. Does the color change prioritize his position or the music?
"I don't think any franchise will ever top it" Sakurai: You underestimate my power! *Proceeds to add 20 more Fire Emblem characters with spirits and music*
So does "The Legend of Zelda The Wand of Gamelon" not count as controlling Zelda? I can accept CDI not counting towards anything in anything, but please at least confirm it.
@Ow my Bones By that logic, Zelda's first playable appearance was Wand of Gamelon, Zelda's Adventure, Melee, Spirit Tracks, Brawl, Wii U/3DS, Hyrule Warriors, and Ultimate, since each game has a different "Zelda" (albeit debatably with WoG and ZA). Knowing me, I also missed a game counting those up.
@@yourehereforthatarentyou Hard to say, especially since one turns into Shiek and the other summons phantoms. Because there are so many Zeldas, it's better to assume they're separate if they have different abilities. ...Also, either way, the point is that if we split hairs on "That's not the same Zelda," we end up even further from having any actually usable rules for "first playable appearance," not even counting Pokémon or Fire Emblem Amiibo shenanigans.
@@AbedulTG pretty sure this has been discussed in PJiggles’ video, but I could still try to find every instance of an alt that changes the shadow and find that number.
19:44 even if you don't count the battles, Chrom was controllable on the world map of Awakening and in Fire Emblem Warriors, before he became playable in Smash Ultimate. As for Lucina, in Awakening Chapter 23, Robin and Chrom are separated from the rest of your deployed army by a magic barrier, which makes you only playing Robin here implausible, though not impossible. Also, there are cases, where you can take control of people before they officially join your army, like Noire in Awakening. As for other characters, I think you forgot Master Hand, as he is playable in Ultimate, without glitches.
This isn’t “useless” but I know u talked about toon links back air having a one frame blind spot and then Nintendo fixed it, but also Jrs foward air has a two frame blind spot in the beginning since it was transferred to the end of the move, so swinging at grounded skinny characters up close just completely whiffs
3:25 That’s not the case, PJiggles. As of the information provided on the Smash Wiki, any Joker Amiibo will keep the red details when on the victory screen, just like CPUs. The only thing I can’t understand about this is why. Why was Nintendo so lazy on that? It’s just a tiny piece of code!
Here's a fact that's more useless than anything else: When referring to a group of individual things, the correct term is "number" instead of "amount", for example: a "number" of victory screen animations. Sorry. This shouldn't bother me so much.
a·mount /əˈmount/ noun a quantity of something, especially the total of a thing or things in number, size, value, or extent. "the sport gives an enormous amount of pleasure to many people" This is directly copied from the Google definition for "amount". He is completely correct to be using it like this.
@@mettatonex7221 I mean just search up amount or number and it says basically what I said but you can probably just use either like I said it really don't matter it just annoys me.
@Mettaton Ex Really you're supposed to use "number" if it's quantifiable and "amount" if it isn't, but in everyday speech they're basically interchangeable
Something cool to mention though it doesn't change the animation is how the wireframe Little Mac alt looks in the Joker final smash. Food for thought ! (Also, costume changes like the ones for Pokémon for example all show the design changes)
Another thing on the playable debut fact: There is a collection of Pokemon titles called Pokemon Rumble. You can control practically every Pokemon ever in those games, but I don't really blame you for getting this incorrect.
@@yourehereforthatarentyou In 64 and Melee it’s implied that possibly they were figures come to life, but that hasn’t been apparent in any other Smash game after
It would be cool if Lucario's victory poses change depending on how strong your Aura is by the end of the match (I've been playing with him for a good while, and I don't think it does, so just throwing it out there)
My assumption on why they removed the “boom” voice line is because they found the mistake late in development, with both bayonetta 1 and bayonetta 2 as different characters in the English version. So they decided, as to not have countless people asking or because they were lazy, to remove a voice line so that it seemed like they were actually different. This is fully just my guess
23:01 this is literally impossible to fix because the Japanese voice actor for Colonel Roy Campbell, Takeshi Aono, died in 2012, and "Hideo Kojima stated via his Twitter that he will retire the Roy Campbell character from the Metal Gear series out of respect for Aono." (from Aono's Wikipedia page)
"If people like this idea, I can do the same thing for episodes 6 through 10 in, like, 2021 or something - if that year ever shows up" Me, rewatching this entire series in 2023: 👁👄👁
Here’s a F A C T angling the control stick during Bayonetta’s forward smash causes it to angle down and up respectively Edit: goddamit someone thought I was referring to the down smash. No, not really.because I have no memory I’ll be referring to the sticks on the joycons in side. Tilting the left control stick moves the smash attacks angle when you use a smash attack with the right control stick.
That's not a useless one, and lots of other characters do that while being similarly hard to notice. For example, Kirby and King K Rool can angle their forward smashes, but it's really hard to see if you aren't looking for it.
One other correction I'd like to add is the Donkey Kong model with the necktie and the curl on top is also a Western creation by rareware with Diddy, Steve, banjo, and k rool. The original arcade Donkey Kong grows up to become Cranky Kong whose son is Donkey Kong Jr and is represented in Super Mario Kart. The rareware Donkey Kong is DK Junior's son and/or nephew and is cranky Kong's grandson.
On the topic of joker's victory animation, and how insanely high it can get, what about the screen showing the different phantom thieves? It also changes randomly between showing Ann, Ryuji, Makoto, Morgana, Yusuke, and Haru. And Futaba's voice line is different sometimes. If just counting Joker's actual movements as his animation, then you can disregard that, but since you are counting the characters in the background, I thought it'd be fun to point out.
Honestly surprised he didn’t mention that he was wrong about Zelda making her playable debut in Smash, as she became a newcomer in Melee (2001) despite her first playable appearance being in 1993. The game? Wand of Gamelon.
Incineroar has retractable claws. You can only see this in his final smash, as he has more claws. If you were to open his model in game, it would have the claws, and this also works on the Sun & Moon and Sword & Shield models too.
3,282 is incorrect and I know exactly where you miscalculated. You took the previous 6561 and divided by 2, assuming that with half the pills, it meant half the possible combinations. However, each pill actually multiplies the product by the number of combinations the pill has. So, for each pill removed, you should’ve divided by 9, meaning the ACTUAL number of possible Dr Mario pill combos is 81.
2 things 1: Steve has released so the new number for Joker total victory screens is 32,068,200 2: My brother bought a Joker amiibo, an the answer is No its always red
19:43 I still think that this portion of the "first playable appearance was in Smash" segment was true, at least for the Pokemon you show on screen here. Pikachu, Mewtwo, Pichu, and Jigglypuff first became playable in 64 (Pikachu and Jigglypuff) and Melee (Pichu and Mewtwo), both of which came out before the first Mystery Dungeon game, so for those Pokemon, I think you were right. That being said, I do agree that the whole "fact" had a lot of technicalities and variables to consider, so I'd imagine it wouldn't be easy to be 100% correct on.
13:10 again, Spirit ranks have nothing to do with canon character abilities and everything to do with how strong their effects/stats are in Ultimate itself.
I don’t think dr mario qualifies as “he is playable in a smash game first” the story mode of dr 64 allows you to decide between playing as 2 characters, dr mario, and wario. both of these characters are characters that you play as because the story that happens dictates what enemies you fight. unlike one player where dr mario just tosses pills into a container while you basically play as yourself, dr mario is the character you play as in that mode, he doesn’t toss them in while you do it, he does it himself.
I could see Pokemon beating mario for most "things", cause if they add a Sword/Shield Pokemom (Urshifu please!) there would be even more spirits, most likely a lot of music from sword and shield (if that's not already in) and then more mii costumes cause they always add in more mii costumes from the series that the new fighter is from.
Please do another update since it's been almost a year; with Steve, there's a new non-Japanese owned and created character, being USA and Sweden respectively
Is there a place to submit useless facts? I'm guessing Twitter is the best bet, but I don't use Twitter, so I guess I'll try here and see what happens. For a tiny bit of backstory, I obsessively have a full set of every primary spirit, including enhanceable ones not enhanced, at max level. One day I was scrolling through them all to see some of the goofy power level difference decisions they made and discovered the following. Almost every enhanced spirit has a higher power level than their counterparts, but there is one that has a lower power level, and it's very close to the same power level. Those being X who has 8575 and Full Armor X who has 8548. Some examples of others to see how they differ are Toad who has 5727 and Captain Toad who has 9453, Young Zelda who has 6824 and Zelda (Ocarina of Time) who has 12,519 and Zero (Zero Buster) who has 7149 and Zero (Z-Saber) who has 12,026. Considering all of this, my guess is that they intended to give X a similar boost as Zero, intending to replace the 8 in the 8000 with 12 so that Full Armor X would be 12,548 and Zero (Z-Saber) would be 12,026, but for some reason didn't and overlooked it. I looked through all of them, and this are the only pair of spirits with this issue. Also, while typing this all out and checking these power levels with the game, I noticed another funny pointless thing, which I repeated above. Single thousand power levels have no comma, but tens of thousand power levels do. It's not a space issue since it's changing 4 digits to 6, so it's clearly just a stylistic choice. Just kinda funny.

And also if you square root the original amount then it is also 81 (since you half the power from ^4 to ^2)
I still don't understand why they removed half of Hero's voice lines from the English version
@@andrewbravo6152 Why not just dub English move names?
xerosagas My guess is because the Heroes only have the Japanese voice actors.
While I could see them ignoring the other 9 languages in Smash Bros because Dragon Quest has only had Japanese and English voice acting, they’d still either have to get the Japanese voice actors to try and speak the English spells, or get new voice actors entirely. They might not consider that worth the extra effort.
I like how the episodes slowly increase in length. Episode 647 will be 4 hours.

So does "The Legend of Zelda The Wand of Gamelon" not count as controlling Zelda? I can accept CDI not counting towards anything in anything, but please at least confirm it.
It may not be canon, but it’s still playing as Zelda which definitely disproves something here
I don't think he knows about it
@Ow my Bones By that logic, Zelda's first playable appearance was Wand of Gamelon, Zelda's Adventure, Melee, Spirit Tracks, Brawl, Wii U/3DS, Hyrule Warriors, and Ultimate, since each game has a different "Zelda" (albeit debatably with WoG and ZA).
Knowing me, I also missed a game counting those up.
@@iranoutofideasforausernam1703 aint the brawl and smash 4 zelda both meant to be the zelda from twilight princess

There’s definitely someone from Nintendo who watches these

Here's a fact that's more useless than anything else:
When referring to a group of individual things, the correct term is "number" instead of "amount", for example: a "number" of victory screen animations.

This shouldn't bother me so much.

You could also revisit the video where you counted how many series was represented in Smash. We now have a bit more...especially the SNK stuff.

Nintendo are not the ones making the game or updating it. That's on Sakurai, Sora Ltd and Bandai-Namco.
Yeah but they are toys, not real pokemon!
Actually, you control toys of those pokemon, not the pokemon themselves

20:00 Roy from Fire Emblem made his playable debut in smash melee.

My assumption on why they removed the “boom” voice line is because they found the mistake late in development, with both bayonetta 1 and bayonetta 2 as different characters in the English version. So they decided, as to not have countless people asking or because they were lazy, to remove a voice line so that it seemed like they were actually different.
This is fully just my guess

this is literally impossible to fix because the Japanese voice actor for Colonel Roy Campbell, Takeshi Aono, died in 2012, and "Hideo Kojima stated via his Twitter that he will retire the Roy Campbell character from the Metal Gear series out of respect for Aono." (from Aono's Wikipedia page)

angling the control stick during Bayonetta’s forward smash causes it to angle down and up respectively
Edit: goddamit someone thought I was referring to the down smash. No, not really.because I have no memory I’ll be referring to the sticks on the joycons in side.
Tilting the left control stick moves the smash attacks angle when you use a smash attack with the right control stick.
and thats a fact
That's not a useless one, and lots of other characters do that while being similarly hard to notice. For example, Kirby and King K Rool can angle their forward smashes, but it's really hard to see if you aren't looking for it.

however this fact probably counts as a useful smash fact so yea...

Arséne actually emotes when you first fuse him off in the velvet room. So it may be a reference to that.

@@CedarFairLoreArchive yeah, I got that all wrong but I've corrected myself in the facts submission channel in discord ever since. Thanks!
2 things
1: Steve has released so the new number for Joker total victory screens is 32,068,200
2: My brother bought a Joker amiibo, an the answer is No its always red

I don’t think dr mario qualifies as “he is playable in a smash game first”
the story mode of dr 64 allows you to decide between playing as 2 characters, dr mario, and wario. both of these characters are characters that you play as because the story that happens dictates what enemies you fight. unlike one player where dr mario just tosses pills into a container while you basically play as yourself, dr mario is the character you play as in that mode, he doesn’t toss them in while you do it, he does it himself.
That kirby's return to dreamland music has no right to make me so nostalgic
I love that game.
Dont think it will happen any time soon
I don't think sw/sh music is in, considering that not only did they only add an alola rep, but sword and shield didn't release at the time
Please do another update since it's been almost a year; with Steve, there's a new non-Japanese owned and created character, being USA and Sweden respectively
