This is INCREDIBLY well-made. Not only are these presented in believable ways, but they’re just subtle enough to actually kinda feasibly slip by people’s sights.
The animation work here is legitimately on-par with the base game, and that’s saying a LOT.

I was 99% certain the sonic one was modded because the animation looked pretty bad for smash standards, but the pokemon trainer one actually fooled me. That pokemon trainer animation was absolutely fantastic, it looked 100% legit. Congrats to the modders that did that!!
The Pokémon Trainer thing didn't have me personally, the Pokéball in the animation just didn't look right
Huh, interesting! my reaction was reversed. I thought the Sonic animation was a little janky because it was referencing the similarly janky animation from the old game. In that way it was very fitting.
Meanwhile I thought the Pokémon one looked really rough. Why pull out a pokeball just to stare at it for a second, then put it back? What's the point?
It would have made more sense and been more expressive for the trainer to pull it out, and then toss and catch it in her hand a couple times before putting it away. Like she's so eager to catch that pokemon.

I think what's most funny is that when the thing with Ken's hands in his hadoken came up, I saw the animation and was like "okay that's obviously fake," but that was actually real LMFAO I have no idea how I didn't know that before but seeing the hands just plastered onto the hadoken rather than being more stylized gave me big "I photoshopped this on" vibes, so seeing that turn out to be true made me laugh my ass off
Great troll though, genuinely impressive, you really did a good job teetering the line of "this is plausible" with how many exceptions and "oversights" you included. And the modders did a great job :)

The moment I saw Sonic jump off the stage I knew this was an April fools video but the amount of real facts that were thrown in threw me for a loop. I was starting to believe that a few of these made up facts were actually real, like the Kirby hands

I was certain I took damage when eating chocolate as Duck Hunt in an actual 1v1 with my brother and immediately tested it after finding it was false, but seeing it in the video made me second guess myself and assume my test was somehow inaccurate and made me pause the video to test it again just to find out the video was fake. With smash honestly having so many real minor details like that such as the Alucard assist trophy not showing up on the wii fit stage since they didn't want to program him not having a reflection The more subtle a detail is the more believable it is to actually exist.
I think if he would've started with something else it might've been more believable

the first sonic animations DID look like a mod at first, but right after that the poké trainer one looked SO legit it flatout made me forget it.
This was so well done. Though I feel like doing the sonic one first kindly gave the game away because I was like I'm sure I would have heard of that by now if it really existed but the other ones are so minor I might have believed them. Still though really great video with all the little details you made it sound so realistic I was second-guessing myself all the way through

I got a little suspicious when he talked about the sonic thing because he already presented that exact thing as a missed opportunity.

Oh my goddd this is literally the first online April Fools that LEGITIMATELY fooled me. I remember halfway through the video I was like "Damn these are very substantial easter eggs" but didn't even CONSIDER that they might be fake. I thought the little Sonic animation looked a little sloppy, but assumed it was due to it being rushed or whatnot "late into development" (No insult to the modder btw I love the the reference to CD). Damn good job with this video and to all the modders too.
The second I saw that DEVILISH April Fools image at 13:48 I was STUNNED as I quickly realized what just went on. Literally jaw drop lmaoooo
8:14 Actually, there IS another background elements that changes if a character is in the match exclusive to Ultimate (that's actually real, even in the tips). In Hollow Bastion, if you play as Sora and get to the DDTH, Sora's station will never appear, only the rest will

I really love high quality April Fools videos that are based off the normal videos, and with how you play it straight. Great work.
I'm not gonna lie, the moment you showed that first fact about the Sonic CD reference, I immediately went and tested it out for myself to make sure this video wasn't gonna be some kinda April Fools thing. As you can imagine, the disappointment on my face was immeasurable when nothing happended, but I still gotta give kudos to whoever went out of their way to mod that into the game just for the bit, really impressive stuff.

This might be one of the best online April Fools jokes ever! This was presented in a believable way from beginning to end! Never have been fooled so hard tbh.
I’ve loved the fact Alucard cannot be an assist trophy on Wii Fit stage cause there’s a mirror and vampires have no reflection. So rather than just removing the reflection they just disabled him entirely
Useless Smash Fact: There’s a very rare Mario Maker stage with a teleporting door as a part of it, but if you go up to it as Donkey Kong, instead of the door teleporting you, you’ll hear “Somebody once told me!” with Shrek coming out and attacking the opponent by farting on them, he eventually disappears like an assist trophy though and this can only be done once in a match

I was completely fooled by these "facts" for way too long. It was only until PJiggles tried to end the video without the usual trivia question that at least one person guesses correctly that I realized something was off.

Really fun video. Kind of mad about the Mega Man one though since that would've been so awesome. Also, seeing someone instantly think the character tweet must have had something to do with languages made me remember something I discovered that I've never seen anyone else mention.
In the Japanese version, Hero is the only character whose English name is still what is spelled out on his character portrait, yet the announcer uses his Japanese name "Yuusha", which yes, is just the Japanese word for "Hero", however every character who has a different name between regions has their Japanese name spelled in English on their character portrait. Isabelle's Japanese name is "Shizue" which is what is written on her character portrait and called out by the announcer, same for Incineroar, whose Japanese name is "Gaogaen" etc. etc. etc. But Hero is the only character whose Japanese name is what is called out by the announcer while his English name is what is written on his character portrait.
And here's one more for the hell of it, Min Min and Mii Swordfighter are the only 2 characters whose names are the exact same in both languages, yet they are spelled differently. The aforementioned spelling of both is how they are spelled in English, but in Japanese Min Min's name is spelled as one word, "Minmin", while Mii Swordfighter is spelled as 3, "Mii Sword Fighter".

If it wasn't for some of the deliveries of the lines, I'd have believed these. I only got that these were jokes when you mentioned how much you know the characters' idle animations in the Pokemon Trainer bit. This is LUDICROUSLY well made, I'd have believed these easily.
If Sonic jumping off was the LAST thing shown, it would've gotten me for a while, but that one's TOO much of an unrealistic shitpost XD

I was a little suspicious when I saw the Sonic animation, just felt a bit too heavy of a fall speed for smash, but seeing Pokémon trainer’s second ball and how much smoother it is compared to the first one confirmed for me that something was up haha
The sonic death scene had more attitude than the actual in game sonic expressions.
I caught on to this being April fools during the Sonic segment, but then started second guessing myself during some other facts like the Isabelle Chocolate one. I also just straight up didn't know about the Ken's hands being in his Hadoken. I guess I just never noticed that.
Actually the nine characters have something in common: they all originate from a video game and are playable in Smash.

here's a fun fact: there's a secret toggle in the special smash menu that can be activated with the Konami code. doing so will cause players to be able to take damage from enthusiasm. this also causes every pokeball pokemon to spawn goldeen only, who can instantly KO everyone with splash.

Here’s an idea for another “Missed Opportunities” video, in the Punch-Out World Circuit variant of the boxing stage, they should’ve made a dark model of Donkey Kong in the background with the audience and of course have him not be there when you face him on that stage. Not only would that have been a huge reference to Punch-Out Wii, but also a reference to Punch-Out Arcade even though you don’t face DK in that game, he just has his sprite in the background audience along with the Mario brothers

Really nice video. A lot of effort and creativity to make it! A round of applause for all of the modders and PJiggles' editing.
That said, you did not fool me, sadly. Your opener was too strong, if that makes sense. If you had started with the Battlefield one, the chocolate one or the Sheikah Slate, or even the Pokémon Trainer idle animation, I totally would've gone along with it. But the Sonic one, or the Megaman one for that matter, are such a noticeable thing that I'm certain someone would've found both of them out in at most a year after Ult released.
fun fact: since in some smash games you can perform a glitch to play as bosses or hack them in, you can actually play as the yellow devil and wispy woods
Here's another totally real easter egg:
If you're playing as Young Link, press a specific button combination, then taunt, he'll pull out the Ocarina of Time and play a short song that's related to the stage he's on. For example, he has a chance to play the Song of Time on Zelda-themed stages (with a higher chance to play it on Hyrule Castle and Great Bay), but on Battlefield he has a chance to play a shortened version of Lifelight instead.
This works with Toon Link as well, though he'll use the Wind Waker instead of the Ocarina for obvious reasons.

the sheikah slate repairing the tower is obviusly a reference to tears of the kingdom, the sheikah based the slates on different zonai abilities so as tears of the kingdom development started on 2017 makes sense to sakurai to know about that on 2018
I got completely fooled by this the first time I watched this. The combination of the good animation and how you act like these mods were in the game and even noted small oversights just fooled me completely

On green greens, if you wait 86 seconds without doing anything, Wispy woods will turn and face the camera. It will then jump to the right side of the stage, and initiate a boss fight. Once he is beaten (relatively easy) a bunch of star blocks will appear saying HAL.
