Mom's 2000 GM LS, 69k miles, replaced 14 year old,5k mile tires, belt hoses, antifreeze, oil/filter, transmission pan with drain plug, filter/fluid, torque converter drained also, diff fluid changed, control arms/ball joints, idler and pitman arm, battery, shocks, wiper blades. Installed a iPod compatible CD player, changed to police dual exhaust, aluminum drive shaft, and sway bars, got a matching full size spare, Explorer IRS rear differential cover, Explorer console cut down for cup holders, converted gas door to remote opening. Road trip in 21 with 2 grands and 2 nephews, 7 to 13 year olds, achieved 22 to 29 mpg at +5 posted speed with A/C, in June Oklahoma/Missouri/Georgia to Florida and back with 0 issues. Except the sway bar rubbed a spot on the diff drain plug from rear end sag. Now have air bags in the springs. With keypad entry and automatic temperature control, no payments and plenty of room I enjoy this 85k car. Yes, close to $2k in parts, but, free car.

Hey Big Al, My car looks exactly like this. Mine is a silver 07 GS with 91 K. Owned for five years and it had 43 K when I bought it. Actually having it detailed as we speak. Mine had the dreaded paint peel common on these cars. Had the roof, rear quarter, and passenger fender repainted and replaced the hood with an exact match. One thing about the hubcaps. I've only seen one with the round inserts. All the rest were off, including mine. I have three in the trunk. Very expensive to replace as they commonly fell off over time. Plus they get loose on the hubcaps to begin with. You got a great deal! Thanks, Joe ...

I appreciate your love for your collection. At almost 52, I remember many of these cars when new. I've always been a huge malaise era fan. I've had multiple Panther platform cars over the years, including the one I own now. You can't beat it for room and comfort, especially when highway cruising. I get tempted to look for something else like an 08-11 Avalon (love their style), but I know I won't find another car like this that I know the history on and such as I'm only the second owner. Sorry for chatting your ear off. Take care, Joe.

I bought a Marquis in 2017 for 5K. It had 32,000 original miles, lived in a garage and had no mechanical issues. The owner kept a diary of repairs on a book in the glove box. I still have this car, now at 53K and still running smooth. It was a So. Fla. car so there's zero rust to worry about. My only kick is the radio has no aerial and there's no place for one, so reception is not the greatest. A drawback of '99 MGM's.

I grew up with a rear wheel drive in Wisconsin and had to go up a hill in town at a slow speed everyday, and of course the incline was very icy ❄️ from a lot of use and I couldn't get up that hill almost every day, and studded tires were no longer allowed. So I was one happy 😊 camper when front wheel drive came out and I would also throw on a set of real snow 🌨️ tires, " Not All Season" and what an amazing difference.

Man... while low milage and a solid engine.. being a 2005 isn't good. That's considered the "Bastard Child" of the Panther Platform. Lots of 1 year only issues that were sorted out in 06. Those center caps are hard af to find cheap also...unless you can score at a junkyard. I've had a 00 LS and 02 LS and now have an 11 CVPI. I'd just polish it up and punt it tbh. 05 GS's aren't desirable at all; but at least it has the low miles going for it. I'd check the intake manifold before selling cause that is a BIG fault in the Panthers of around that time.

Hi Al, there's spirit EVP at 0.25x video speed, my language Danish, sounds like your elderly couple all right:
7:49 'Vi solgte bilen' ('We sold the car'), 'Priserne de er steget' ('The prices have gone up'), 7:51 'Jeg kan ikke længere køre' ('I can no longer drive' / 'I can't drive anymore'), 7:50 'Venter på en taxa' ('Waiting for a taxi'), 7:51 'Nej, der er voldtægterne' ('No, there are the rapes'), 7:51 'Åh, jeg vil køre' ('Oh, I want to drive'), 7:52 'Fremtiden ender her' ('The future ends here').
7:54 'Jeg hører, hvad den Völve siger' ('I hear what The Völve is saying'), 7:56 'Hil Odin, det er Gudernes konge' ('Hail Odin, the king of the Gods').
Yeah well, as you know I'm a heathen, dedicated to the Old Norse mythology and shamanism. I fully respect the Christian faith but do not subscribe to it myself, 'cause I'm a Dane, and not from around Jerusalem.
I respect the ancestors, I respect the spirits of Nature and I honor the ancient Gods.
    Thank you
The Völve, Asatru shaman of Denmark and the Lands of the North
