John Denver has some wonderful songs, this one is gorgeous, but I still love Country Roads, definitely one of my favourites! Another great song of John Denver's is Annie's Song, written for his wife, in 1974, such a beautiful song, used to hear it everywhere, especially at weddings. Other great songs are Leaving on a Jet Plane (1966) and Sunshine on my Shoulders (1971). Thanks for another great reaction, guys, enjoyed it very much. Wow, not long now until you reach the big 50K! And it will be very well deserved, after all your hard work. Take care now, guys and keep safe. ❤👍

You should check out John Denver's beautiful ballad called "Annie's Song," which he wrote about his first wife. It went to No. 1 on the U.S. pop charts in 1974. He also had a No. 2 hit in 1975 called "Calypso," a tribute song to French oceanographer-environmentalist-documentarian Jacques Cousteau and his crew aboard the research ship, the Calypso.

If you want to hear one of his songs that makes you feel like you are on a small ship in the ocean, listen to "Calypso". It is one of my favorites and you will get to hear John yodel. He wrote this song in 1975 as a tribute to Jacques-Yves Cousteau and his research ship, the Calypso. As a kid I never missed a Jacques Cousteau TV special. His respect for the ocean and its sea life was very instructional. Denver and Cousteau became good friends and John even spent some time on one of his voyages. I think the live version from the Wildlife Concert is the best. Please take time to listen. Enjoy!

A symphony to nature by a man who took pleasure in what God gave.
He was close to the natives.
My greatest respect for his life's work.
I am so sad that He was called home to the Creator on the way to His loved ones.
Appreciate what nature gives to people. Don't trample on it, respect what has been given to you and treat nature with the dignity that She deserves.
And you may have a fulfilling life with a clear conscience .

I had the pleasure of seeing him live in concert, many years ago. He performed just as you might imagine; very simply, humble and genuine! Even though it was a sold out concert, the moment he began to sing the audience was silent! It felt like he was singing to just me. Beautiful! 🥰❤

I lived in Denver from 76-80 and every chance the family had, we were up in the Rockies. I do have to say I love the German, Austrian and Swiss Alps just a little bit more (we lived in West Germany for 12 of of my childhood years and vacartioned in the Alps for a week to ten days every summer...

Hey, you two...check this out. I was a teenager in the late 70's/early 80's. My music taste back then was so narrow you wouldn't believe it - listening only to a few bands like Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and stuff like that. My sister discovered John Denver was coming to the Civic Center for a concert. She got tickets and dragged me there. I really, really didn't want to go. His stuff was just WAY WAY WAY too lame. But I did go. He played the 12, 000 seat arena, in the round. Guess what happened? From the very first chord of the first song he totally owned the room. It was FANTASTIC. Not only did he win my respect and admiration, but he showed me how narrow-minded I was, and I've never forgotten that lesson. What a true, true artist.
One more to check out? Annie's Song. It's a great one by John Denver.

Really liked and appreciated your reaction guys. I don't know if you are aware of facts that connect Rocky Mountain High and Take Me Home, Country Roads, both of which songs have been elevated to the status of a state songs since John's tragic death in 1997. Take Me Home, Country Roads is now a state song for West Virginia, and Rocky Mountain High is a state song for Colorado. With these two state songs John is now in an exclusive class of only two song writers with two state songs, Steven Foster in the 19th century and John in the 20th!

Then one day the great Mike Taylor, one of the best acoustic guitar players in America was in John's band, as lead guitar player, anyway he showed John this fantastic guitar lick, and that is the opening part of the song. John Denver was one of the "pure" voices of our time. Karen Carpenter was the other one...in my opinion.

The memories this song invokes! As teenagers into music, sitting in a big circle, strumming these chords on our guitars and voices pouring out this song together.

The play on words in these lyrics are beyond masterful. The crystal clearness of his voice is next to none. I really hope you'll do Annie's song from him next. You'll be both blown away and moved. One of the best love songs ever.

It thrills me that you guys appreciate John Denver so much. When I was in my 20's, nobody was bigger than him. There's no way to explain how loved he was. The day he died, I sobbed like a baby, then made my daughters, 12 & 13, sit down and listen to about every song he ever recorded. His pitch was perfect and clear, he enunciated beautifully, and he was a wonderful guitarist. His songs touched the heart in ways few people could. Try STARWOOD IN ASPEN next. His love for Colorado and nature in general are themes running through his best songs. "Talk to god and listen to the casual reply." Did anyone ever write a better line? You are doing such a great job on your channel.

The first time I ever heard this song was when I was right after it was released in 1972. I was 16 years old and in Colorado on a ski trip. I had never been to the mountains before and like the subject in the song, I was changed by them. I have now spent many years living near the mountains in Washington State and skiing every chance I get. Every time I hear this song, that feeling comes back and I am 16 years old again.

Love your reactions! John was not appreciated by a lot of people in a time period of rock and roll, but I always loved him. So glad you appreciate him for the amazing art that he was.
I was privileged to see him live a couple of times. His voice was just as clear as on recordings. And when the band took a break, he stayed on stage and continued with just his guitar. What an amazing performer!
He made every person there feel that he was singing just to them.
    RIP
    .. miss him so much.

Great reaction. John Denver was in a class of his own. You can't really find any bad songs. Take Me Home Country Roads ; probably being his all time best and most popular.
