If I subscribe to a channel I generally watch every video that comes out. That being said, I watch yours because I want to see how you're progressing with your projects, plus you often tackle similar problems to the ones I am likely to come across. I also appreciate the humour and general style of presentation, so keep it up - I'm sure others feel likewise! 😁

Slow as usual! I'm just in the process of fixing the cement tile backer boards in the bathroom. Bought the thermostatic shower valve and ceiling recessed shower head this week ready to install - thinking I will tile the ceiling around it... 🤔😊

I subscribed because Andy Mac told me to, learned a fair bit so stuck around, then found your videos really entertaining, then met you and you were a dude, then you helped me dig a big hole which means you're even more of a dude. I'd be gutted if the videos stopped coming but totally understand that it doesn't seem viable, but it'd be a huge loss for your devoted followers

Hi mate, I myself find your videos both entertaining and informative also there is a realism to all that you do . I as well as many others just enjoy watching you doing you and learning along the way. Ultimately you have to do what you think is important and the right thing to do for you and lou but i’m sure that the channel will only grow as things progress on the build.
Well stay safe ATVB mate and hope to see you in the next one .👍🏻👍🏻

I'm watching because I enjoy your videos, the way you explain what you're doing and why. You're very relatable, and I've picked up lots of tips from watching your channel. I'm also fully invested in your build progress so I will watch every video regardless of the subject 😂

Like others have said here this channel is unique in terms of your style, honesty and determination to face any problem and deal with it. I came here after watching you help out Keith Brown dig out his back garden for better drainage. I was following another channel, Sampson Boat Co which was also about completing a long term project, but binned that after starting to watch your barn conversion and cartlodge playlists. I dig your accent, I am from Sussex so it resonates with me as a Southerner. Your humour is ace. OK your subs numbers may be lowish compared to the top guys but is there anything else you can do to boost this? More collabs with other RUclipsrs maybe, I know you had the Skill Builder video guy round for a piece but can you use this to your advantage in other ways? I think we all appreciate the massive PITA it is to video everything you do but try and keep it up and maybe something will turn up that gives you a more positive financial situation. My biggest DIY project so far is lining a double garage wall with plywood but your work inspires me to try bigger and better things. Onwards and upwards mate.

Can't believe you binned off that channel for mine 😲 one of my mates loves that one.
I could try some more collabs maybe, although I think the way for my subs and views to increase is to get a viral video 😅 and that's easier said than done 😣

Keep up the good work pal just think of it like this someone who’s maybe put there last few ££ into a project and doesn’t make a mess of it coz of your real videos 👍👍

The main question I would ask if whether you enjoy doing it. If so, keep doing it, if not, pack it in.
Imagine standing in a stadium of 11k people and talking to them for 10 mins - that is a massive deal to do it once, let alone every video you put out.
For me personnally, I enjoy DIY videos and pick up tips here and there. You have a unqiue style, which is great. Rather than become a carbon copy of other channels you have done your own thing, mixing raw honesty, humour, DIY and determination to overcome challenges.
It has definately helped me in the past, when putting jobs off. After seeing you battle through many a stuation, it gave me a kick up the arse. I missed your content when you took a break, geninely hoping you were ok.
In the end do what is right for you. I would miss following your journey.

. Hi. When I first stumbled upon this channel, I was surprised that it had not been widely discovered yet. You are brilliant. Love the realness and the humor. You share a full range of emotions and thoughts which gives your production depth. The editing is great. I mainly watch to learn, but I enjoy you! As I mentioned earlier around the timber to steel fixings, would have never known about them were it not for your videos. Appreciate it's probably a lot of effort and time editing but i don't think that goes unappreciated by your subscribers and I for one am grateful for your content, has helped me no end and find your journey interesting.

    Awesome work, dude! 😊
But yeah... I know nothing about concrete. 😬
About videos, it's hard to say. Those for which I prepared more, that I thought would do better... Well, they didn't. 😬
On the other hand, those that I basically recorded because why the heck not... Did much better! Perhaps because I was more relaxed, or because the projects were simpler... I don't really know.
So, my advice is: do whatever the heck you want and have fun. Because I guess that's what people like to watch. 🤷‍♂️
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

Stayed watching because I like your approach to tackling problems, you've got a "no-BS" approach to presentation, and it's always clear in your videos what you are doing.
I've picked up loads of useful tips from the channel, and it's especially nice seeing someone do the work with tools accessible to a DIY-er.

Keep going Aiden. A very informative channel. I like the deep focus on solving the challenges of DIY problems, whether digging a hole for a fence post, deciding whether infrared heating was the way to go., or how to fit windows, and much more. Btw - re digging the hole, Roughneck tools are really good and heavy duty. I use that breaker bar and it is very effective for digging holes and levering out roots and rocks. Also recommend the heavy duty post hole digger from Roughneck because it gets increasingly difficult to get stuff out of holes with shovels the deeper you get. Great channel keep it up.

I love the channel and your relaxed style which is much more endearing than other providers. Your personality really comes through and I feel your pain when things don't go to plan - we've all been there!. I hope you stick with it. For me I am watching to see how you tackle the problems you come up against more than the content only because I have no desire to take on any major building projects. Hopefully your subs will increase once you get round to the internal fit-out of your build as that will be more relevant to a wider number of us amateur DIYers? Your recent painting video for example was really useful for me. Looking forward to see how the build progresses.👍

I've learned quite a few things from them while renovating our own 1920's house. Not remotely as big an undertaking as yours but still 🙂 It makes you appreciate the huge amount of time everything takes.
My wife and I can't have children of our own (medical thing that I won't bore you with), so I can kind of imagine what you mean with not having that next generation to teach your skills. But at least you're teaching us through your videos!

Why do people watch your video's....because I want to see Arthur of course.
Sounds like you've got a case of the autumn blues. Or it's that time in your life (or the time of day!) when you want to assess where things are going. A sensible thing to do sometimes. Ultimately only you & Lou can decide what your priorities are.....if the RUclips content creator/entrepreneur isn't making you happy then change the focus. But it would be a shame to ditch the video's entirely because you have built up so many skills & techniques in both advanced DIY and video filming & editing.
Concentrate on getting the main house ready. Get in tradespeople to push it along if your OCD will allows you (and the budget too). You will feel better when you are living the dream.
Sometimes having a tidy up can improve my mood.
It's almost like these video's are less about DIY and more about mental health sometimes....which is really important. & I appreciate your honesty.
You'd be a great dad btw. Have you thought of adoption....although who would adopt an old git like you I have no idea! 👍
PS My guess would be 4 - 7 days before hanging the gate. But I like the idea of propping up one end to take the weight off the hinge if you wanted to do it quicker.

Hi Aiden, I discovered your channel from another RUclipsr who mentioned you. I can't remember who it was, but it would be a quality channel. It could have been Whiteland Restorations, but who knows.
I think your videos are superb. Your lateral thinking around problems astounds me, and your laid back attitude to issues makes me want to be a better person and try not to get so frustrated when things don't go to plan, but just deal with what's happening.
I've learned a ton of stuff from you, and how to do things the right way. You've put up with a ton of shit and come out the other side smiling. That is properly inspiring.
I love the variety of jobs you tackle and the humour
FWIW, I can't believe you don't have 100K subscribers. You deserve it. I really hope you continue making these videos, but that's selfish on my part. You have your life to lead, and need to do what's right for you, and if this isn't it, then so be it. I'll miss you like hell.
I'm gutted things couldn't go to plan on the family front. I can't imagine the heartache. I hope you find something to fill that hole.

Even with quick dry cement, give it time. Any cement needs time to cure. And for it to do what you need it to do. Quick dry is walk-able on in 24 hours, but it still may take 1 week to get to a good strength (~1200 psi) to 3 weeks to reach full strength (~4000 psi).
Fence posts and their gates can exert a lot of lateral pressure. And the cement in the soil may cure slower than you expect. For long term stability, the longer you can wait, the better.

I learn lots from RUclips precisely because I have a child (my free time is now revolving around MVF…minimal viable fix). As an older dad (51 with a 5 year old girl). I love the way you go about researching, asking for advice then blend it all to sort out your issues ( that’s kinda how I do things). I think it is inspirational what you do and building a brand on this platform is very hard, but as others have said, you do it all with good humour and have your own unique style. Be sad to see you stop, but also understand you have to do what is right for yourself. I suppose I also find it a bit of escapism as I fancy the idea of what you have accomplished with your home, knowing I’d never get that opportunity…and you have some nice toys. All the best man.

I very much look forward to your videos and think they are awesome. I can tell the amount of work you put into each one and I think as the content is so good, it's got to be only a matter of time before your channel grows significantly. You're at the mercy of the youtube recommendation algorithm and at a certain point, a tipping point should be hit.
I most enjoy your long form content where you talk through solving problems because that's the reality of 'DIY'. Having said that, I think to boost the channel and get eyes on it, maybe doing more reviews of popular tools and products would get hits that could then stay for the longer form content. I know you already do this but it only takes a couple of those becoming very popular to boost your channel's hit rating on recommended videos. Just some ideas.
I'm subscribed to a lot of (maybe too many) channels and your videos are the ones I look forward to the most. They don't always get recommended to me by youtube when they come out though...

@@THE-AIDEN-PROJECT It must be tough. I listen to the "making it" podcast and they often talk about the disconnect between the videos they really want to do that their core followers enjoy but are not attracting enough random viewers to pay the bills. I think a lot of us would miss you if you stopped, but at the same time you produce free content for us and you owe us nothing. You have to do what's right for you too. Back to the snappier comment, I think it includes making each video about one thing, or a clear message (like the recent one about flooding solutions, I thought was really good). Back to the "I need help but I don't want it" I think if you get another youtuber to collaborate on your house here and there you'd get both help on the house and cross pollination on your channel and they'd also get a video out of it, so it would be win-win all around. Anyway, don't listen to me, I know nothing about all that!
