The art in the Parent Trap from the perspective of it being a movie mirrors the plot, but also lends to the idea that Mitch hasn't ever gotten over a certain feisty redhead.🤣
I completely agree with your inspirational decorating style. In just the past 22 minutes, my mind was filled with so much excitement of the possibilities! It is such a personal thing, and designing around memories makes me happy. I can’t wait for the next two parts. Thank you for your time in teaching us the joy this can bring to our homes! Kudos, Marina!
I'm so glad to hear that. I have 12 episodes of Cinematically Inspired Design on this channel. But, if you want to find them all grouped together, here is a link to just those episodes from my website: www.mockingbirdlane.design/cinematically-inspired-design
Marina, thank you so much for your videos and your CID series! For years, I’ve wondered why a certain tv show or film resonates, or even as you’ve mentioned, a certain memory or place or event. When I was very young in Memphis there was a short stretch of a street that was so cozy to me for no reason I can think of, but I added it to my mental list of ‘happy places’- (it reminds me a little of maybe the intro to Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood or something) but you’ve given words to those little memory swatches to put into an organized place! I didn’t realize how much design work was making an impression. I’m kind of obsessed now and have gone back and watched or rewatched shows and movies through a different lens! PS you’ve prompted me to finally watch some that I’d planned to get around to, like A Star Is Born (‘54) and Leave Her To Heaven. I re-watched Elephant Walk and realized the story itself is so disturbing and I only liked it because of the house (and even her little bookstore!)! PPS also I was recently at a conference for work held at a lodge in the Ozarks and the aesthetic is still the same! I grew up going there, too!
Currently watching Mr. Hobbs Takes a Vacation on the Criterion Channel...I am so immersed in the office decor, in Cali's historic Petroleum Building, and the stunning pops of red as Mr. Hobbs enters his home. It's only been on like 10 minutes...😂I had to pause to let you know that you've opened a new world for this movie lover. Thank you!
New subscriber here brought from a commentator in another YT (Baiyina). This is the missing piece for me. My favorite designer (Ralph Lauren) designs as if he is making a movie.

WOW. I saw part 2 before I saw I saw part 1... I love your craft and the hard work that you put into it... I am, just a cartoonist that makes fun of everyday life on paper...

Funny you should mention that because just a few days ago I realized I want to do that. I was thinking about how I've already done Lucy's NYC apt, her country home and their Hollywood Suite. Then the thought popped into my head that I should do that trailer. Sure wouldn't take long compared to a home, even though it was a long, long trailer. 😉
hey marina coates - happy 2021 :) i have to say - i don't know you from adam but i went to a 'Q & A world premiere screening' event earlier tonight and you crossed my mind at least half a dozen times - it's called WANDAVISION - it's an episodic limited tv series based on MARVEL COMIC characters and guess what!!!! OMG! i'm so excited - i was in pure heaven - just blown away - they incorporated every single interior of the 1960's tv houses we all love and dream about & you make videos of! just name a real tv show and you'll see the (new tv) characters living in a very familiar living room set - it was SO awesome - hope you enjoy it if you get to see it - i'm actually jealous they didn't hire me to work on this project - but anyway - you crossed my mind - BTW - do you have any nibbles on the set design 'theme park' - i actually mentioned it to some people tonight and they thought it sounded expensive but very interesting and marketable - also i found out tonight that the interior of the real BEWITCHED house in santa monica is nothing like the tv version - just the exterior but reversed - that's it nothing else - ok thanks for your videos - bye! :)
@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane yes i want to watch it again so i can freeze it and soak up the set designs - i couldn't do that at the screening tonight LOL :) can you imagine being able to walk around on the new set recreations - how cool that would have been LOL :) my partners little sister is a "disney new product feedback analysts/specialist" - we got little hand held devices and we were suppose to put in what we like or didn't like and then there is a "Q&A" for thoughts and feedback at the end - they're fun to go to :)
