I don't care what anyone says, Mary and George are the greatest cinematic couple. They're just beautiful together and Donna Reed is just angelic as Mary. I love the movie and listening to you describe it at the beginning almost made me tear up. I remember watching the movie as a kid and hoping I'd find someone like Mary to spend my life with 😁I had no idea ZuZu was still alive! That's amazing it's so cool to hear from her! I love this idea of recreating movie/tv show houses & your narration is fantastic! Thank you so much, I'm def subscribing!!
So glad you liked it and that you found the channel.
Excellent, Marina! The door in the hall next to the tall case clock was probably the door to the basement. You got the extra table in the dining room right. People often had a small extra "kids" table for big gatherings. The adults sat at the larger table, with the kids at a separate table of their own, entertaining themselves and giving the grownups a chance to catch up. Can't believe that big old house is actually smaller than my house. It always looked so large to me. Bravo for having "Zuzu" there, with her remembrances. She must be one of the only remaining cast members.
I think you're right about the door going to a basement.
I agree and thanks Marina for this wonderful vision and recap ❣️🤩🥰

The children come to Seneca Falls each Christmas to celebrate the movie where they believe the town is the setting of Bedford Falls. Copra was a visitor there. She is coming this weekend. 20 mins from where I live. Its a 3 to 4 weekend event.
@@mariareale9040 You're lucky to live so close. It's on my bucket list. Maybe next year. 🤞
I didn’t even realize there was enough information about the house in that movie to do a detailed re-creation. You really impress and enchant me with every video. ❤
I wasn't sure there was enough information either until I started sleuthing around. 🕵️♀️
This movie and Miracle on 34th are probably my two most favorite holiday classics!
Pure Holiday Classics!
Your synopsis at the end was spot on! I may have teared up a bit. I have seen this movie soooo many times, yet I think I cry every single time. It is just so beautiful.
We watch it every year at our home. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Marina, thank you so much for doing this! "It's a Wonderful Life" is our family's biggest tradition at Christmas time ever since I was a kid. Whilst others were preoccupied with cartoons or Home Alone (which I love also),"It's a Wonderful Life" brings back every holiday memory and I've always wondered about the home. You have a gift and this is one of my favorite renditions that you have done thus far.
Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed this one.
@mittens Mac it’s a tradition for me since growing up it was played often on TV. I’m 53 and still watch it every year. Sadly my 23 yr old son does not have interest in carrying on the tradition at least at this point.
This is amazing. I love this movie so much. The house is such a big part of the movie, it's a character in and of itself. Very well done!
I agree. I love how you put that - it's a character in itself.
This is another one of my favorite movie homes and I'm an old softy when it comes to watching this movie. I cry like a Baby. I have to have a tissue box close by when I watch this movie 🙂💖
I get it! 😊
You've hit it out of the park again! "It's a Wonderful Life" has long been one of my favorite films, and the ending always make me tear up, no matter how many times I've seen it. I got to see Mr. Stewart once in person. He was the commencement speaker when my brother graduated from college. Mr. Stewart was a true American hero, as well as a great actor. He pulled strings and engaged in some almost shady practices to get into combat not out of it, serving on 25 B-17 bomber missions over Germany. You do know Stewart's major in college was architecture, just like you. I agree with some other commenters below. I think that door led to the basement stairs. Lastly at 18:10 love the rose on the bedside table as your usual Easter egg.
Yes, Stewart attended Princeton. Not sure if they still have an architecture program. Anyone know?
Thank you for adding that. Jimmy Stewart is my all-time favorite male actor! And he never had an acting lesson. He was definitely born to do this.
P. S. I agree - that door must have been meant to lead to a basement.
One of my most favourite Christmas movies. A few years back, I saw it on the big screen. If you ever get a chance to, go see it. You will see and hear things you never heard before. It really is incredible.
I may do that in a few days. It's playing nearby.
This is my favorite movie of all time and seeing this in this perspective really made me understand why I love it so much! That house means so much, it is HOME. Thank you Marina
I agree!
I started getting the idea during the tour that the house isn't as large as it always seemed. Turns out that was right.
It is a great movie and a sweet story. You are as good as good at capturing the attraction of the locations with your words as you are at showing the visuals. Thanks. Thanks to Karolyn too, for her performance and for adding so much to this.
I was surprised at the square feet when I was done. It looks bigger on the exterior shots for sure.
@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane I missed what the square footage is. Can you help me out? Thank you!
I LOVE your work. Thank you for being you!
😊
This was fantastic! I think there are stairs to the basement behind the door under the stairs, probably start as winders to turn the corner and then run under the other top run of stairs. That's my vote. Thank you for such a wonderful tour and including Karolyn Grimes. What a delight she was!
I think you're right. It makes sense.
I enjoyed this IMMENSELY! Thank you! there is no other movie experience for me greater than IAWL. I think of the movie all year round. The moral to the story left that large of an impact. I MUST watch each year, not just once but numerous times. I study each scene for easter eggs...items I have never noticed before and I'll be, you captured many of them in your thought recreation!
I live in the rooms in the space, The Old Granville home is home. Your tour brought it to life more so than decades of watching and devouring each scene.
The skull on Potters desk, the way Mary grabs hold of the goat's horn, the dinner the Baileys share before the dance, The merry Christmas wreath he thinks he left at the office, "for if I get me a husband"...and Old man Gowers misery and pain that still gets me every time.
THANK you for the architectural insight into nooks and crannies I could only imagine prior to your painstaking hours of recreation. Seriously, this has been "THE GREATEST GIFT"! (20 points if you can name where that is from! "NO man is a failure who has friends!" Great to have an Architect friend who loves the old Granville place as much as I do! Merry Christmas!
PS. The door leads to the basement. YEAP, there is a basement.
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I agree - Others on here have said that the door probably went to the basement and it just makes sense.
I have made other homes too. You can see all of the other TV and movie home tours I've made here: ruclips.net/user/MarinaCoavideos?view_as=subscriber
I love your recreation of television and movie shows. This one was especially wonderful!
I’d love to see Donna Reed’s home, which I still love to watch on ME-TV channel. Also the house that Sally Field lived in as Giget.
Both good choices.😊
@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane I think the Gidget house was also the Hazel house. And I would LOVE to see the Donna Reed Show house.
@@barbarad7103 I have had a lot of requests for Hazel and Donna Reed. 😊
Wow! My favorite movie of all time. Thank you for bringing it to life for us!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much, Marina. Yet again you have rekindled warm memories with beauty and precision. I can see the tremendous amount of time and talent you invest in your work. I feel fortunate to have found your channel years ago. I can see that as of today, over 45 thousand people have subscribed to your channel and are benefiting from your exceptional work. The world is a better place for it. Happy Holidays.
Thank you for those kind words.
Yes! I do want to walk around their home ... and sit down and look at all their possessions and then go outside for a walk. Then maybe come back in and snoop some more and have a little nap before heading back to my life. I don't know why I missed this movie themed episode. ✌
I'm a South Florida native and lived in a typical 1950s nondescript suburban CBS home. There were several models for homebuyers to choose from - 2 bedroom cottage style with an eat-in kitchen and open carport.
My 3 bedroom 1 bathroom house was one of the most popular. The bedrooms and bathroom were stacked in the hall.
My mom lived in New York State in small towns. We would visit the town where many of her relatives lived.
I told her I wanted to live in a small town too. She very quickly answered me with "No You Don't!! Everybody knows everybody's business!!!"
We would have to drive in order to shop downtown in Hollywood, Florida. I like being able to walk to stores, shops, and restaurants. My parents had friends who lived in the downtown area, and I asked her why we didn't live there. Some of the houses over town were older, with more character and styles like Craftsman Bungalows and Spanish cottage style with elevated foundations, real wood floors where anything glass would vibrate if you walked too heavy!! Terracotta tiles were on the front steps, roofs, entryway. I wanted to know why we couldn't live there and my mom's answer was quite simple, it was out of our price range 😕.
Another lovely Christmas tour. Many years ago I was visiting my military brother and sister-in-law. They took me to a Christmas party hosted by another military family. Their Christmas cards were displayed on a mantel and as I perused them I noticed one signed "Jimmy and Gloria Stewart". I asked about it and discovered that it was indeed The Jimmy Stewart. The two men had served together in the military and Jimmy sent a Christmas card every year.
Wow!
Thank you so much for doing this. This has always been one of my favorite movies. I loved getting to see more clearly how the house in the movie was laid out. 😊
Glad you enjoyed it! I sure had fun making it. You can see all of the other TV and movie home tours I've made here: ruclips.net/user/MarinaCoavideos?view_as=subscriber
I asked you a few months ago (under a different account) to do this house. I felt bad asking because I felt it would be too difficult. You replied and said you would. You did it!! You are so very talented. You have made me so happy. I can not thank you enough. This movie and The Wizard of Oz are my favorite movies. Plus all the extras you added. I know how hard you must have worked on this. These things with this much detail are very time-consuming. Thank you so much. I hope you realize how talented you truly are. Amazing. ❤
Thank you so much. 😊
“320 Sycamore?” Welcome home Mr. Bailey. This video is everything I could have wished for. It’s a Wonderful Life is my absolute favorite movie and watching it with my family is a Christmas tradition.

THIS is a great one! It's amazing when you make these and they check out with the vision in my head. You should also do ASMR tours of homes with snow outside. Just loop the walkthrough for a couple hours with wind, fireplace crackling playing.
That would be nice.
Thank you once again Marina for an amazing video. Your attention to detail never ceases to amaze me! I watch that movie every year, but this year I will notice the details you pointed out! Thanks also for the interview with Karolyn. Her recollections of Jimmy Stewart were lovely.
I would like to think that the “secret” door leads to a mud room perhaps. 😊
Glad you liked the tour. I hope as you watch the movie you notice new things.
That was another great video and a perfect choice for this time of year. This was always a special movie for me because my dad and Donna Reed were cousins born six months apart in Iowa.
Oh, wow! I bet you have some interesting stories to share.
Wow talk about memories I remember watching IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE on TV every year and yes crying at the end every year like clockwork you have done a beautiful job of recreating the Bailey home what wonderful memories how I wish America could be like the movie especially today
We watch it in our home every year too.
@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane I tend to watch Christmas movies between Thanksgiving and the big day because I know it'll be a tear jerker and thanks for Zsu Zsu's input
Excellent Marina!
I read recently that because IAWL didn’t initially do well at the box office, someone at the studio neglected to renew the copyright. Thus this forgotten movie became available for free broadcast without fees to the studio. So it got played year after year and that’s how it eventually gained such a huge yearly audience and became a family favorite. By comparison, “White Christmas” was only broadcast once a year.
And aren't we glad they forgot to renew it! Karolyn talks about that in the full interview, which I hope to have up today.
I remember growing up in the 1980s, it was on multiple times on multiple channels all through December. My mom and used to see how many times we could watch it in one year.
@@EpoRose1 Do you happen to remember what the record was that year?
I thought I was the only person who wondered how the interiors of movie and tv show homes matched their exterior. They very rarely did and it drove me crazy. I believed it was an odd fascination, so it's great to see I am not the only one. Thank you for showing the George and Mary Bailey house. It is one of my favourite homes and Christmas movie. I am smitten with the peacock wallpaper. Great job Marina!!
I love that wallpaper too. I found the version I used on Birch Lane, but I had to tweak the colors.

Thank you. I'm glad you liked it. Happy Holidays to you too.
Love the detail you show, great work. I believe the door under the stair could be partly a closet and stairs going down to the basement.
stairs to the basement for sure!
I agree. I bet it was a door to a basement.

Last week, someone asked what the best Christmas film is and I said 'It's A Wonderful Life.' The person had never seen it right through and as luck would have it the film was shown on TV that week. He watched and thoroughly enjoyed it which I'm very pleased about since I expected he would because the good-guy persona of both George Bailey and the actor James Stewart is one he has in spades himself!
On another note, whilst re-watching it myself, I couldn't help noticing how the message of the film is particularly relevant today - the big boys who are trying to run the world and our lives, robbing us of freedom and peace, are like Potter. But the Bailey family firm operates to serve the community with that precious ingredient - humanity. The liberty we have is something we should never allow to be taken from us and - like George who realises what blessings he has - should not throw away.
'It's A Wonderful Life' is a truly wonderful film and thank you for this very enjoyable added-extra.
I'm glad your friend enjoyed it. We watch every year at our house. Such a feel-good movie.

I’ve always wanted a home with a turret so I could have a little reading room or plant alcove. A cushioned window seat that wraps around the outside wall for a kitty to sleep in the sun with a lamp table and overstuffed chair to curl up and read or sit and crochet. Coming off the dining room is awkward, but were I making room assignments, I wouldn’t put the kitchen and dining room so far apart. Never having had a butler’s pantry, I don’t know it’s usefulness but I’d eliminate that space assignment, move the dining room back toward the kitchen and use the front space for George’s office and Mary’s nook. It would also save Mary some steps carting hot food from the back to the front of the house!
Love your channel! Such a unique interest and fun for the rest of us too!
Thanks for sharing your ideas. I'm glad you like the channel.
So happy to have discovered this channel! Obsessed with these houses - a dream to see the floor plans!

My favorite Christmas movie of all time!
Another winner!
😊
Thank you for taking me on a home tour of such a Christmas classic. I live in a large 3 storey Victorian house in the UK; right now there’s a large Christmas tree in the bay window, with a battery operated, thankfully quiet, wooden train set chugging around it, but normally it houses a comfy settee, next to the books that line the nearby walls, the perfect spot for natural light and book reading.
I can picture it all in my head. 😍

Glad you liked it. I'll keep them coming as long as I'm able.😊
Thank you. This is the best one yet. Not only the house, but your observations about the entire story line and George's "redemption" if you will. Great to see Zuzu all grown up and her memories of Jimmy Stewart and the Christmas tree. I've often said to my husband that I wish we still had a George Bailey's Building and Loan. Today we have heartless banks and mortgage firms that know nothing of the human touch. If we lived in "Bedford Falls", perhaps we wouldn't be facing foreclosure right now. A few hard knocks along the way and this is where we find ourselves. I wonder if Clarence is still out there...
Oh, that's hard. Yes, I wish we had a Bailey's Building and Loan. Good luck to you.
@Janadu, Geez, that's really awful. I hope things improve for you somehow.

Thank you so much, Marina! I love "It's a Wonderful Life", and each time I watch the movie, though I live alone and have no children, I remind myself to focus and dwell on good things - all the love I have from family and neighbors, and other blessings in my life. The fixed-up Bailey family house always reminded me of my maternal grandparents' house. There are beautiful old Victorian houses in my town that had been abandoned - and now I'm so happy to see them being restored and loved again. For all the above reasons, I loved going on a "tour" of the Bailey house!
That's great that they are beginning to be restored rather than torn down. There is so much charm in a home like this.

Love it thank you for your efforts and bringing this home to life.
😊
Gracious thanks Marina for giving us the home and hearth of the Bailey family. Thanks as well for outlining the lessons of the heart that blossom in the movie's storyline. Like Peter Bailey explained to George, "It's deep in the race for a man to want his own roof, walls and fireplace".
While George restores family values to Bedford Falls with his father and uncle's building & loan, Mary restores the Bailey home to it's former glory with her best vision of wellness.
When George visits the house in Pottersville and sees all of Mary's loving work gone along with their children, he rushes to the library to find her. The Pottersville Mary is taken aback when George finds her and declares her his wife. Which begs the question of what would that alternate universe Mary Hatch have done after being so accosted and frightened and finding out (from Bert the cop later) that the crazy man had also visited the house of her secret desires?
(It's worth noting that the librarian lady in THE LOST ROOM television series is accosted as well by a man claiming to be her husband...which is why I'm requesting a video recreation of the SUNSHINE MOTEL from the tv series.)
This tour of the Bailey home that you've created fulfills a Christmas wish that I and so many other fans have wished for for many decades.
Thanks for having Karolyn Grimes included too! My daughters and I have met Karolyn, got her autograph on many collectibles...plus she posed for a photo with all of us!
I know it would be a huge undertaking to recreate the entire town of Bedford Falls from the movie...including the building & loan, Martini's bar, Gower's drugstore, etc...but if you did, I would escape to it (like many other's would) whenever I needed a refresher course on Capra-101...
...It's a Wonderful Life.
Merry Christmas Marina!
I do want to do the whole main street eventually. Most would be just store fronts as we walk by. But we'd get to go inside Gower's Pharmacy, the building & loan and the bank. I like the idea of adding Martini's too.
