hello maam, this is jaspreet here i m international student in canada doing Interventional Radiology . i want to move to USA after study to settle there .....please let me know how i can do this thanks
Interventional radio is just hype and I'm really very disappointed about the IR drama, since I was seriously looking at the field. The other doctors have made IR the dumpster of procedures. Since IR is very referral dependent, all the good procedures get taken up by vascular surgeons, interventional cardio or neurosurgeons. What's left are mundane procedures like biopsy, abscess drainage, paracentesis, LP, etc. There is a whole drama within IR in the US trying to separate from DR and become an independent branch which is practically impossible since they don't own any patients. I guess you would make a video about it more honestly like Sarel Gaur MD does in his channel. We, medical students, are really in need of the actual truth before considering the field rather than going into the branch and regretting later, writing up a bunch of articles about how the private practice IR(where 90% of IRs work) is pretty unfulfilling and dissatisfying.
I’m in the same boat as you. First year of med school I was dead set on IR. However every time I went in to shadow, all the docs are working long hours, doing boring procedures, and have no control.
Can you talk about moonlighting opportunities in radiology, how much it pays , is it worth moonlighting , does it help you to learn faster, does it take away from studying for the boards etc .
This was the most helpful video I’ve found in the last year that I’ve been looking into IR. Thank you for making such in depth videos.
Glad it was helpful 😃😃😃
Love your videos. I’m inspired to enter medical school so I can study diagnostic radiology. 🤓
Thank you for sharing this!

My IRs tells the ward, is the patient dying? If no, it can be done tomorrow. That way we dont become a dumping ground.
