Was Radiology More Competitive in 2022?
What's the best textbooks for radiology what's the future of IR
Hi Yasha, I just wanted to ask you a few questions. Im a US img finishing up my md in italy and I was wondering what is the process fo matching into DR for my situation. Particularly how should i approach applying (like how many applications should i make to dr and prelim programs). I passed step 1 and my step 2 predicted is 252. I just recently started watching your channel and I love your content. Thanks!
Hahaha, love the intro
Artificial intelligence will replace radiologist.
❤🎉congrats on the baby girl!
Thank you! 🎀🎀
You’re a radiologist specifically in breast imaging so there is definitely no need for you yo quit. Breast imaging is one of the best su specialties out there.
From rad to another. 100%
M3, going for IR. We're not worried about where AI is now, but where will it be in 20 years. We're looking for a 30-40 year career.
In 20 years, it’s going to make us way more efficient and able to keep up with the insane pace of reading that is expected of us now.
Wow, I didn’t realize how hard it is for doctors and patients these days. It feels so unfair. Thanks for explaining this-it’s something more people should know.
10:33 really hit home for me! As a work-from-home mom, I could totally relate to the challenges of balancing motherhood and a demanding career. It’s so inspiring to see how others navigate this journey-thank you for sharing!
I love this! Interesting I’m currently a pre med
Great point @Yasha. Medicine should NOT be a business. When insurance companies dictate terms, doctors aren't able to perform their role as a healer. Thanks for making this video. I think more people need to see this.
Agreed. I wouldn’t recommend going into medicine, mostly because you lose the best years of your life for a job that isn’t as rewarding anymore.
You’ll lose them anyway unless you come from the top 20% of household incomes. Might as well do something noble.
Your priorities change as you grow older. The things you want in your 20s are not necessarily going to be the same when you hit your 30/40s. From the perspective of a woman in her 30s I can tell you it’s hard to juggle your career and your personal life. Kudos to those who can, but it does add multiple layers of complexity. Your dating pool shrinks, but your standards don’t, and most delay having kids as a result and often deal with infertility later. I am also a radiologist and I feel it took away 14 prime years of my life. While I do enjoy my job, it came at a cost that I didn’t anticipate when I was in my early 20s. You can do something noble that’s great- but in the end you have one life to live so you must plan accordingly and realize when you gain something you lose something in return.
Defensive medicine and practicing in this litigious environment has also taken away from how rewarding medicine used to be. You can save 1 million lives, but even one error could end up in a lawsuit and ruin your morale.
Mam in which country you are doing radiology and what's salary there?
Elon Musk said AI will take over all jobs in the future. So, first specialties in medicine that will be taken by AI in the future are pathology and diagnostic radiology for sure .
so it’s a ticking time bomb . gotcha
I love how you breakdown your goals for 2025.. Have the same goals as well. Cheers!
In 5 years max ...more likely 2 years radiologist will be extinct . Im a radiologist and i can say this for sure . If AI can beat grandmasters in chess it cant read xray ? This lady wants to bury her head in the sand and hope for the best
Can i get residency in radiology?as an img from Pakistan...i also have completed my residency in radiology in home country
Great video Yasha! Subscribed!
Great way to balance life and work 👍🏻
Thank you.
As a radiologic technician in Beijing, the annual salary is about 700,000 yuan. What about the United States? What certificates do Chinese need to take to work as radiographers in the United States?
radiologists in panic mode
Very helpful video, especially as an R4 interviewing for Breast Imaging jobs! I have found myself on the fence but leaning towards private practice and this has definitely helped me with my decision. The market is so great right now that you can really find a great private practice job and cater it to what you want. I haven't found a lot of partnership tract breast only positions unfortunately but hoping that's something that may develop in the future as the demand for Breast Imagers continues to increase.
thanks, its very informative and straight to point and realistic, in the end thanks.
How long does the tell me about yourself answer should be in your opinion?
1-2 mins!
Such a solid video! In one of your Q&As, did you ever post about you how met your husband / how he asked you out? Ya'lls photos are so cute, so I couldn't remember if you had done a storytime on that : )! Happy holidays!
Hahah it’s a whole story but we met at the hospital while I was an intern and he was a resident!! I met him for the first time on literally July 1 (first day of work!) Crazy how things work out. Now he’s stuck with me forever!
Hi Dr. Gupta! I'm a first-year medical student and I'm currently torn in between pursuing Diagnostic Radiology or possibly IM + Fellowship. I have kinda been on RUclips looking into either field so I appreciate this video and the videos you have made previously to offer insight into the daily life of Radiology. I wanted to ask if you had any advice for me as a first-year on what I can do to help narrow down what I should pursue? Thanks again for your time.
Hi!! Welcome! I think it’ll really come to you as you realize what you like and don’t like through medical school. I really loved anatomy as a first year which was my first hint but I still didn’t “choose” radiology until third year. Radiology is pretty easy to shadow in a hospital so you can always try that, too, however remember that watching someone read scans is super boring but doing it yourself is way more fun and interesting (like watching someone read a book vs reading it yourself). Also think about what you want life to look like as an attending. The day to day life of radiology is much different than medicine. We don’t really have outpatient clinic, we don’t round, we review images and talk to doctors when they come see us or call. It’s a different beast but I love it!
What are your thoughts on ABR's alternate pathway in terms of feasibility? Has it gotten harder or easier over the years?
I think, just like with residency, it’s getting overall a bit harder because applicants are doing more and more every year to get into these programs but that being said definitely still feasible! Lots of people are doing it!
@YashaGuptaMD thanks for the reply, Yasha!
Thank you so much for this! Starting med school late, 35, already have a family, RN and am looking into radiology for a career!
That’s awesome!!! Rads is the best ❤️❤️ you will love it!
❤ ur content, would appreciate if u made a contract negotiation video and private practice IR
Would love to do contract negotiation! I don’t know too much about private practice IR though
@@YashaGuptaMD totally fine, since they don't teach this in med school😅
@ right?? Practical advice!
@@YashaGuptaMD that's fine just the basics and also if ur willing to put in the work, can You make 7 figures ? In which states do you earn more ?
Glad you are happy. I would like to learn more about the different types of contracts in private practice.
Sure! Anything specific? Partnership track, associate tracks / employee, percent partners, call… those types of things?
Hey Dr. Yasha, I’m an IMG from India pursuing my Residency in Diagnostic Radiology. Would you recommend attending RSNA conference if I want to network if I want to apply for fellowships or 4 yr IMG pathway after I complete my residency in US.
🔥🔥🔥
It has been great to meet you there Yasha!
I appreciate you sharing your optimism specially to people who want to be future radiologist.
Really enjoyed this video! Such a creative way to present cases. Looking forward to seeing more of these. <3
☺️☺️☺️
Thank you so much for the video Dr. Gupta. I really needed it. Could you please tell whether RSNA provides any networking opportunities for non-US medical students specifically?
Sad I didn't run into you! Where are your boots from (or do you have a specific link) that you wore with the velvet dress?
They are Chanel 😱 my first ✨luxury✨ shoes! And I know. I was either doing something or in my room. I was EXHAUSTED from the walking 😭 next year!!!
From where you did your mbbs if i may ask?
Amazing!!! :D Im 2year resident and i want to go there next year. Regards from Spain!!
Please come!! I got to meet a few residents from Spain this year!!
Hi Doc Yasha! I'm a 1st-year radiology resident here in the Philippines. Thank you for being open to things about the field of radiology. Can I ask for any tips on how did you master anatomy?
I saw your channel! Awesome content btw! ❤🦴🩻
LOL
I don't think people understand how big is AI
its been around for decades, even the NLPs and image generators that everyone is losing there minds over right now have been a part of our consumer market since 2014
Thanks a lot Dr. Yasha. As an IMG, it can be difficult to connect with other radiologists, and certainly the RSNA can be a great opportunity for us. The fact that you take your time to give ideas on how to approach this event and get the max of it is very helpful. Again, thanks a lot Dr. Yasha 🙏
Happy to help!
Thank you for sharing your perspective on these topics!! Burnout is so prevalent nowadays and it's nice to have information to prepare ourselves for the future
Anytime! 💗💗
Thanks for the signs but you still are extremely gorgeous!
