Truth be told, I like running a pure Kaiju deck. It's kind of fun to look at an opponents setup, slap them across the face and say "no, your using MY deck to fight me! We ain't having any of that shit!"
Except the counters just end up screwing you, no matter how well you manage counters there simply is going to be a point where your opponent can either take some to respond or take some just to not let you use them. It’s inherently flawed.
@John August, It shows that Ojama Lime is fighting his inner demons, to only realise that no demon would consider possessing him in any fashion. If they're willing to put up with that level of grinding and konami money strong arming they're probably willing to put up with MUCH worse than kaijus. You could unban pot of greed and they'd still play it I bet.
To think that a few years ago, Rata took almost every opportunity he could to state how much he hated these guys and went as far as exclude them from War of the Worthless.
Honestly, they'd absolutely destroy anything the Legacy of the Worthless decks could do. Kaijus are too big and too new for anything the older, slower decks could handle.
The simple fact that they can kill just about anything the game can put on the field means that they are the exact opposite of worthless. They are quite powerful one way or another, but have some builds that simply flatten the field beneath their feet.
Remember that amazing Gene X guy? Yeah it would be an even less fun battle if Genex does some insane plays and brings out Trishula or Crystal Wing only to get it immediately F'd.
Kaijus: the definition of a necessary evil. That being said, the actual concept of an archetype that involves big monsters telling all the robot dragons, robot wizards and robot wizard dragons to fuck off whilst they slap their meaty bodies against one another is actually super awesome.
Jizujiru is also hilariously good with Chimeratech Fortress Dragon and is searchable by Cyber Emergency, making it the best removal card in any Cyber Dragon deck.
its called Daemons Axe in Japan, which would translate to Archfiends Axe in current translation rules. As for mechanical reasons, Heiress can search it, Emperor can remove it from play to fuel his ability, Falling Down can be played when its on the field, and you can sacrifice it to summon Commander without tribute.
Honestly, the splashability of Kaijus seems more like a way to let them print even more absurdly indestructible boss monsters because there will always be a counter...
At my locals a few years back, I was playing phantasm spirals. My opponents found the hand traps so annoying they would use kaijus on my 2000 attack vanilla monsters to stop me from using them.
As a kaiju movie fan, I love the concept of the Kaiju archetype. As a former player, I can't believe that Konomi didn't see how sacrificing opponensts' monsters would be abused.
@@NoFlu I wanted to see the team in team fortress I figured it would be fun to get a rare achievement that less than 1 percent of people have gotten legitimately and thought it wouldn't be so hard to have 9 people work together in a dead game mode thinking why else would anyone be here but no more than 4 people would help at any given time it honestly would have been more advantageous to humor us and get the other half of both teams back on track
Jizukiru has served me well in Cyber Dragons. Can be searched by Cyber Repair Plant, discarded for cost by Galaxy Soldier, and when you give it to your opponent you can then immediately take it from them as fusion material for Chimeratech Fortress Dragon.
Ya know, volcanic queen only needs one tribute, has the same defense as dogoran but with 500 less atk, burns them for 1000 each end phase unless they get rid of their other stuff, and only has a pretty mediocre burn effect for the opponent which also requires them to remove their monsters from the field. So, pretty good I’d say.
Alright, as someone who has been playing Pure Kaijus for 3 years now I'd like to think that I have come to see the ins-and-outs of Kaijus and their variants. Strap in, boys. This is gonna be a long one. Kaijus have a few main variants. Graydles, Yosenjus, Rank 8, Relinquished, Invoked, and World Chalice. Out of those variants, only Graydles, Rank 8, and World Chalice usually ever run the field spell. Then, of course, there is my Pure variant which I have considered to be my personal favorite version of the deck to run. I've never been a fan of the others, finding them inconsistent at best. So I'm going to get into my own personal mini explanations on each of the main cards (and also some personal techs) for my Pure Kaijus and also include the list I'm currently in the middle of testing (a couple new cards, trying to see how I like their addition). Dogoran: 3 counters for a Raigeki in exchange for being able to attack that turn. That isn't why Dogoran is good at all. Dogoran is good because it is one of 3 Kaijus that can not activate their effects during your opponent's turn, meaning he is a very good sacrificial lamb to allow you to summon things to make your own plays. Of course, if you get interrupted and left with some monsters that can't run it over (somehow, usually you'll be more set up or you'll have no monsters) you will lose 3 counters and all your monsters. Overall, run 1-2. Kumongous: Kumongous is pretty okay nowadays. It's pretty much used exclusively for another low ATK Kaiju, or for a good Slumber target if you don't want to give your opponent a Gameciel. Run 0 or 1. Radian: Radian is Dogoran but better. The effect is actually good for some offensive moments, and just like Dogoran it can't be used during your opponent's turn so it is a good one to give your opponent. 2800 ATK is easier to run over (but not really by that much considering spreads). Run 1-2. Gameciel: Lowest ATK. Best effect. Run 3. Always. Jizukiru: 3300 ATK with a pretty good defensive effect, Jizukiru is another of my favorites. He allows for big hits without leaving you defenseless. While his effect seems restricting at first (and it is), it is surprising how often an oppurtunity comes up where Jizukiru can stop a play and bring your opponent to a halt (or at least trip them up, in the case of actually good decks). Run 2-3. Gadarla: Gadarla is the kind of card that you run either it or Kumongous (or neither, but I'd choose at least 1). Unfortunately, Kumongous basically beats out any reason to use Gadarla. Gadarla requires more counters to use its arguably worse effect. On top of that, you can't give it to your opponent off of Slumber OR just a normal Kaiju'ing otherwise you'll lose 3 counters and be unable to attack over it. It's a neat card, and on your side it is pretty okay, but Kumongous is just better of the 2 to run. Run 0 or 1. Thunder King: Thunder King looks amazing... until you read further into it... and then further... and then you realize Konami put as many seatbelts as they could on this thing. Sure, stopping all effects for the turn is great and all... but you rarely get an opportunity to use this guy to his full potential. Really he's better as just either a 3300 beater or a Kaiju to run over. Mecha-Dogoran: Every aspect of this card is garbage. I advise you to burn any copies you own. Run 0. Kyoutou Waterfront: The best card you have for Counter generating, and it also has a very nice search effect as well as a good protection effect. Pendulums make this card cry, but otherwise it is a very nice field spell to have. It turns random 1-off cards into a counter, and it is especially fun when your opponent Links/Fusions/Synchros/whatever and you can gain 2+ counters off of it (until they summon something to bounce/banish it). Run 3. Interrupted Kaiju Slumber: This is probably the only Kaiju card that people know the FULL effect of, so why bother explaining anything. Run as many copies as the current format allows. The Kaiju Files: The card is... okay? Like it isn't anything special, and it is super limited in what it actually does. It can be okay in certain circumstances, but often times it just winds up being really dead. Run 0 or 2, your preference. Kaiju Capture Mission: This card was pretty bad even back when it first came out (except for whenever I played 1 guy at my locals who always managed to pop it when it was face-down using Atlantean Marksman and I got to draw 2... fun times), now it is just slow and dead. Run 0. So that's it for the Kaiju cards, now I'm gonna put my list and then go over most of the other cards in the deck. MONSTERS [20]: 3 Gamciel 3 Jizukiru 2 Dogoran 2 Radian 1 Kumongous 1 Thunder King 2 Dinowrestler Pankratops 2 Fairy Tail Luna 2 Thunder King Rai-Oh 2 Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring SPELLS [16]: 3 Kyoutou Waterfront 1 Interrupted Kaiju Slumber 3 Moon Mirror Shield 3 Pot of Indulgence 2 Terraforming 2 Twin Twisters 1 Monster Reborn 1 Raigeki TRAPS [5]: 2 Evenly Matched 2 Solemn Strike 1 Solemn Judgment Dinowrestler Pankratops: (Currently being tested): I was interested in this card because it gives me another monster that I can easily summon to field, and it has a respectable 2600 ATK. Alongside that, it has a Quick Effect that allows it to tribute itself to destroy a card your opponent controls allowing for some nice disruption possibilities. Fairy Tail Luna: Basically Grand Mole but actually kind of good. Luna searches a Spellcaster with 1850 ATK upon Normal Summon (basically a 2nd copy of Luna), so it lets you deck-thin. Then it can target a monster and bounce both it and itself to the hand. Your opponent, unfortunately, can choose to send a monster with the same name from their Deck or Extra Deck to stop this effect, but since it is a Quick Effect you can get the chance to do it whenever you want. Luna is mainly good for tributing out one problem, getting a Kaiju on your field, bouncing back the Kaiju, then tributing over another threat. It also allows for you to get in direct attacks more often, something that the deck doesn't always get the chance to do. Thunder King Rai-Oh: This basically gives the deck a solid Normal Summon option as well as a stun option. If you have Rai-Oh and a Gameciel with Kaiju Counters, it makes Gameciel's choices to negate easier as well as making your opponent have a not-so-fun time. Ash Blossom: Standard in 2018. Moon Mirror Shield: Gameciel + Moon Mirror + Waterfront = Fun. This deck essentially focuses on trying to play as much of a stun game as the deck can manage. This card has tempted me into running a copy of Fairy Tail Rella (being able to be searched off of Luna, it would then be able to "search" a copy of Moon Mirror Shield as well as making my monsters immune to being targeted by Spells, unfortunately it has 3 downfalls in that it would have to be Normal Summoned the turn after it is searched to then give me Moon Mirror in that End Phase, die to let me equip MMS to something else, and I need to discard a Spell to search, so there goes that idea). MMS turns Gameciel into a huge issue for most situations. If you play your negates correctly, your opponent will find themselves in a tough situation getting around a walking, banishing Solemn Judgment that also can't be destroyed by battle. Pot of Indulgence: Seeing as my Extra Deck is 15 Winter Cherries targets (Well, 12. 1 Chimeratech Fortress and 2 Chimeratech Megafleet are also included for my Side Decked Cyber Dragons), this card was a godsend. Banish 3 or 6 face-down Extra Deck cards face-down, then draw a card for every 3 cards banished. The only drawbacks on the card are that it has to be the first thing you do in MP1 and that you can't draw other cards that turn (Excluding your DP). This card is (for this deck) at best a Pot of Greed and at worst an Upstart Goblin (without giving your opponent LP), and one of the downsides is only *really* a downside because you can't activate Waterfront before it to get a counter when it goes to the grave. Twin Twisters: 3 Kaiju Counters for the price of a discard, plus the deck isn't usually a fan of set cards. Evenly Matched: This helps you deal with established boards since this deck wants to go 2nd. Always. Unless your opponent magically knows what you're playing, your opponent USUALLY saves a monster on their field which then lets you swoop in and Kaiju that away and leave your opponent with nothing. A fun aspect to a fun card. SIDE DECK: (personal preference, as all Side Decks should be) 3 Cyber Dragon 2 The Winged Dragon of Ra - Sphere Mode 3 Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries 2 Battle Fader 1 Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring 2 Hey, Trunade! 2 Infinite Impermanence EXTRA DECK: (not updated yet, still looking into what I want to include for this format) 1 Chimeratech Fortress Dragon 2 Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon 1 ABC-Dragon Buster 1 Invoked Mechaba 1 PSY-Framelord Omega 1 Toadally Awesome 1 Dante, Traveler of the Burning Abyss 1 Evilswarm Ophion** 1 Knightmare Mermaid 1 Sky Striker Ace - Kagari 1 Altergeist Hexstia 1 Heavymetalfoes Electrumite 1 Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights 1 SPYRAL Double Helix **= Yes, I know that you'll never see this card. However it's either that or you *literally* lose when this card shows up. So there is my input on the Pure aspect of the video. Personally I wish people would give Pure another chance, I think it is a fun deck to play and the stun aspects of it make it interesting. It definitely isn't something you'd want to bring to a very competitive locals or any kind of event, but I would say it goes *at least* toe-to-toe in any kind of low-tier/rogue standoff.
One thing I've found a use for Gadarla is to use Gadarla as a stepping stone to a bigger kaiju likw how Mothra is almost always paired up with another kaiju. I've found that with the Kaiju Files' ability to tag out kaiju's into others, using IKS to bring out Gadarla, remove 3 counters to cut the opponents' stats in half, and then go into any kaiju of your choice. A defense position gamaciel is good, because no Kaiju innately has over 3300 attack, and with Gadarla halfing all stats it provides a good buffer. If you don't have IKS, use Gadarla as stated previously, but this time go into Thunder King to decimate your opponent's lifepoints with a triple attacking 3300 attack beater.
I know this is in no way meta but my main deck is a critias kaiju deck. Many of Critias' fusions are destruction based so summoning a pair of kaijus then doom virusing them or better yet destruction dragon can be an otk under the right circumstances. Even tyrant burst dragon equipped to a kaiju can be very effective. I know it's not meta but it's my favourite.
Radian is based on Ultraman Belial based on Design, which was an ultraman who was greedy for power and was banished from the realm of light (Something like that).
8:23 As a person who plays this kind of insect deck, I can say the following about how both of the insect kaijus fit into the deck: >Since both Kumongous and Gadarla are levels 7 and 8 respectively, they can be brought out using Parasite Paranoid >Both Kaijus are mostly used as a target for PP if the opponent's monster(s) can't be targeted or have negation, or as a way to get rid of monsters equipped with PP >Summoning either of the two kaijus won't block you off from using Worm Bait, admittedly a busted card for a somewhat under-supported type >They can be recycled through the effects of Inzektor Picofalena and banishing Cocoon of Ultra Evolution >An insect kaiju on the opponent's field will make your Metamorphosed Insect Queen's portection effect live EDIT: You won't ever use either insect kaiju's individual effects as you won't ever run any of their spells or traps aside from Slumber
that early art in the video with the Kaiju's descending upon the city while Elemental Hero Neos looks on is pretty cool although I don't know how Neos would save the day from the Kaiju's but its still cool art

I always assumed "Gagagigo" was a Kaiju lore-wise, especially with his "Giga-" and "Gogiga-" variants resembling Godzilla more than any of these. Heck, he even had his own Baby Godzilla version "Gigobyte." His line may have consisted of nothing by Normal Monsters, but at least you didn't have to jump through all kinds of hoops just to get them on the field.

I feel like kaijus are emblematic of yugioh's greater balancing issues. The issue being that whenever there are cards that are dominating the meta, rather than introducing potential counters to the overpowered cards, Konami instead just makes even stronger cards that just invalidate the previously overpowered cards. Sometimes even just being a better version of a previously overpowered card. It's a horrible approach to balancing that doesn't really balancing anything and just makes powercreep even worse
Imagine having a train wreck, but instead of shutting down to fix everything, conductors are instructed to drive faster to plow through the wreckage, but also just end up in the crash pile too. Now continue this for several years.
The problem wasn't that Kaiju's existed, it's that with every archetype having the ability to vomit out an unbreakable board turn 1, they became a necessity to be able to do anything going second
Here's my idea for one. Ojama Golem. A Level 6 Light Rock monster with 2000 Attack & 0 Defense. Cannot be normal summoned or set. must be special summoned to the opponent's side of the field by tributing one monster. While this card is the field the controller cannot user either Extra Monster Zone.
@@GatorRay I'm not much of a yugioh player but wouldn't that be pointless since they could just use it as link material, so they could use the extra monster zones anyways?
2nd place at YCS Utrecht played all 7 Kaiju (alongside BA and a whole lot of other engines). And Gameciel + Waterfront was played in the World Chalice archetype, which won a YCS this year.
What if Interrupted Kaiju Slumber placed like 3 counters on each of the Kaiju monsters summoned by it, so that your opponent actually has a chance to defend himself with its effect when you've tributed his board?
I really hope they make more support for this archetype so it can be its own deck. Like a lot of the TCG exclusive archetypes, its such a cool crossover that should be featured more.

Not as big as my Lord of D. with 3 Mage Power equipped and 2 Axe of Despair.

its called Daemons Axe in Japan, which would translate to Archfiends Axe in current translation rules. As for mechanical reasons, Heiress can search it, Emperor can remove it from play to fuel his ability, Falling Down can be played when its on the field, and you can sacrifice it to summon Commander without tribute.

MONSTERS [20]:
3 Gamciel
3 Jizukiru
2 Dogoran
2 Radian
1 Kumongous
1 Thunder King
2 Dinowrestler Pankratops
2 Fairy Tail Luna
2 Thunder King Rai-Oh
2 Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring
SPELLS [16]:
3 Kyoutou Waterfront
1 Interrupted Kaiju Slumber
3 Moon Mirror Shield
3 Pot of Indulgence
2 Terraforming
2 Twin Twisters
1 Monster Reborn
1 Raigeki
TRAPS [5]:
2 Evenly Matched
2 Solemn Strike
1 Solemn Judgment
Dinowrestler Pankratops: (Currently being tested): I was interested in this card because it gives me another monster that I can easily summon to field, and it has a respectable 2600 ATK.
SIDE DECK: (personal preference, as all Side Decks should be)
3 Cyber Dragon
2 The Winged Dragon of Ra - Sphere Mode
3 Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries
2 Battle Fader
1 Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring
2 Hey, Trunade!
2 Infinite Impermanence
EXTRA DECK: (not updated yet, still looking into what I want to include for this format)
1 Chimeratech Fortress Dragon
2 Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon
1 ABC-Dragon Buster
1 Invoked Mechaba
1 PSY-Framelord Omega
1 Toadally Awesome
1 Dante, Traveler of the Burning Abyss
1 Evilswarm Ophion**
1 Knightmare Mermaid
1 Sky Striker Ace - Kagari
1 Altergeist Hexstia
1 Heavymetalfoes Electrumite
1 Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights
1 SPYRAL Double Helix
**= Yes, I know that you'll never see this card.
Thank you for writing this guide, this is extremely comprehensive. Do you happen to have a updated decklist for master duel?
Gameciel is non-opt solemn judgment. Wonderful card design Konami.
8:23 As a person who plays this kind of insect deck, I can say the following about how both of the insect kaijus fit into the deck:
>Since both Kumongous and Gadarla are levels 7 and 8 respectively, they can be brought out using Parasite Paranoid
>Both Kaijus are mostly used as a target for PP if the opponent's monster(s) can't be targeted or have negation, or as a way to get rid of monsters equipped with PP
>Summoning either of the two kaijus won't block you off from using Worm Bait, admittedly a busted card for a somewhat under-supported type
>They can be recycled through the effects of Inzektor Picofalena and banishing Cocoon of Ultra Evolution
>An insect kaiju on the opponent's field will make your Metamorphosed Insect Queen's portection effect live
EDIT: You won't ever use either insect kaiju's individual effects as you won't ever run any of their spells or traps aside from Slumber

While this card is the field the controller cannot user either Extra Monster Zone.

honestly if the kaiju's placed counters on themselves when summoned to your OPPONENTS field that would make for interesting counterplay
