I do know it's a chapter that doesn't adhere to the "must abandon everything at the single suggestion that there's just quite possible have been a fallen 14 light-years away from their current location."

They have a special variant of the Black Rage which is actually called the "Green Grumpies", it makes them pout endlessly and not follow orders , often proclaiming that they "don't wanna"
Other details that deviate from the standard Blood Angels experience: the Black Rage may happen as soon as the Neophyte is implanted with the Black Carapace, and even if it doesn’t happen, they usually have prophetic visions of their own death, alongside Sanguinus’, and that appears to also accelerate the coming of the Black Rage. Their Chapter Master got one even when he crossed the Rubicon Primaris, in which he saw… Tyranids. It is to be noted that they do not follow usual Blood Angels rituals, aside for some Chalice usage, as they hide their progenitor out of shame for their defects to all who do not swear a special Vow. I edited in more info due to the discussion in the replies.
The Black Carapace is the last step of becoming a Blood Angel, all the others happen whilst in the Sarcophagi and in the book Dante, one of the aspirants turned to the black rage whilst still in the Sarcophagi, much earlier than you have stated is in the Absolver lore. Also lore wise there have been multiple Blood Angels that have had visions whilst in the Sarcophagi (Including Dante in the same book) and Mephiston had them whilst crossing the Rubicon. Nothing you have stated is particular to the Absolvers and it only seems special because the writers are focusing on a chapter in close detail, rather than getting a book every how many years that is probably only from the view point of the big hitters.

Also, a little correction ‘cause I went back to read the thing: they all get visions, specifically of their own death, alongside the Death of Sanguinius, when the Carapace is implanted. Also they get the Black Rage way faster than normal, but it is unknown if it’s because of deteriorating gene-seed, or because the knowledge they get of their own demise accelerate the progress. Usually they don’t remember the visions, but Chaplains record them and tell them later. We are talking entire batches of Neophytes consistently, not just the odd 1 guy every century or so.

It's also noted that all Blood Angels see the death of Sanguinius during the sarcophagi transformation and so the only real difference between them on this point is the specifics of the process. It seems the majority difference is the personal visions of their own death happening to all Absolvers rather than it being reserved for important characters, although we don't actually have many descriptions of normal Blood Angels personal experience of the transformation, so who's to actually say how common it is.

The Blood Angels had the Tower of the Lost in which they lock away Brothers that have been be completely overcome by the black rage and mutation. It is featured in the Devastation of Baal. The Death Company is still technically a secret, as is the red thirst. Of course it is a poorly kept secret, but using the Death Company in battle is not a common sight. It’s kind of dumb (cool lore flavor though) to lock away your Death Company as you can turn them loose in certain battles to stem the tide.
I remember that from an old codex too, the small one from 3rd edition if I'm right, before the introduction of Astorath it was their way to threat the ones that survived or got afflicted when they could not be sent in battle
Ya full lore breakdown would be cool. A thought for a story where Chaplains, Librarians, Sanguinary Priests, and Techmarines of the Sanguinary Brotherhood come together to see if they can use the stuff Necrons use to ward off the Black Rage.
Oh yeah I love hearing of new lore on chapters that aren't the main og ones or the more popular, ie black templars, flesh tearers etc. I say yes to a video on them. I really do hope we get some love for the likes of the space dragons, blood ravens & the white consuls eps as they have 2 chapter masters and where almost wiped put by word bearers & necrons followed by the death guard.
From a GM perspective I think that this is great for the players to discover. It gives the players a big mystery to unravel and how they learn the information can be greatly varried based on how they go about it. Is the secret revealed becuase they have risen to an improtant enough position in the chapter? Or do they discover it through their own sleuthing? Either way it leads to a great climatic moment where they witness for themselves a decrepid space marine pulling at his chains and yelling maddly. Then there is the possible added horror of that marine being a character that the players love from previously in the campaign.
Absolvers we’re actually around before Wrath and Glory, there just wasn’t much lore about them. They were one of those chapters where we basically just know the name and color scheme.
I do like when we see multiple takes over how SM deal with their defects though this is perhaps one of the less efficient ways of going about it. I would like to see more of them though.
I've played the RPG it's a great system, I have a longer running character who's an Absolver and just based on their whole vibe we figured out before the new book drop that they were Blood Angels due to the vaguely stated preference for melee and the frenzy they fall to during it
Does this not scream of Comus Nocturnus from the Bequin series? I know it's implied the Yellow King created the winged space Marines as he has some in stasis in the city of dust. But what if he found them after learning about the absolvers. Bequin found Comus in the dark underworld below the city and I'm sure they saw a dead Blood Angel chained up before running into Comus. Not sure what the implications would be but a little link.
Valrak - if there’s some more interesting lore, you know what you have to do. I’m ok with some of the Successor chapters taking different approaches to those afflicted with the black rage. Gives us more flavour.
The closest I can think of to that is the Blood Angels locking Marines lost to the Red Thirst in their fortress monastery (if I remember correctly this came up in the Devastation of Baal because things got so desperate they ended up unleashing those Marines on the Tyranids)
Its funny because all examples of the black rage have the Marines living through moments that didnt actually happen to Sanguinius. Its a Chaos curse for sure.

Even the Blood Angels would seal these Brothers away. Even buckling them down, and the Chaplains would try to help a bit, but then they indeed also guide them to battle. So though it's not entirely different on average, but they also allow them to fight to their remaining heroics. Sadly this new lore Chapter doe snot.

AND then they're going to have a whole bunch of MEPHISTONS ON their hands! 🗡🪽🩸🪽 The chaplains walk into the tower, and all of a sudden they hear like a bunch of different voices being like, "Hello CHAPLIN, HOW ARE YOU TODAY?" And the most somber and THREATENING YET ALSO CALM AND COLLECTED VOICES THEY'VE EVER HEARD !😂😂 THAT'S just HILARIOUS to me, BUT IT WOULD BE KINDA AWESOME if they found that basically chaining like the black rage suffering Angels up for a period of time finding out that some of them actually can overcome it and channel it and it turns them into just "OH GOOD LORD" LEVEL PSYCHERS!! 😅😅😅

As far as I am aware the blood angels actually do lock away the marines who have fell to the black rage if they survive the death company…
