      Unfortunately, Phils is populated by Macho "kuno" men. Macho country as they say. The physical contact game of basketball reigns as the number one sports and it will never go away even our height-talent does not improve. Pinoys like to assert power thru contact sports such as Bball. Gymnastics and bowling are too feminine ( no disrespect for the Gold ), billiards too technical. Accept who we are, the only way we can move on! Congrats Caloy!

How many feminine sports does one go throwing their body around a chunk of steel hoping they don't crush their own skull on it or break their neck after they fall. If one see's that as feminine they are then expressing their own personal fears and not the reality of the sport of MAG.

Americans and european won the other categories except for 2. Floor exercise won by Ph and the other won by turkey (forgot the category). Floor exercise category is the only type that all 3 placers are asian while the other 4 or 5 types, only 2-3 asians got placed over 12-15 medals. Hopefully this victory will bring awareness and popularity to this beautiful sport and Filipinos would excel at this. Not only they generally have the right physiques but they have the mental strength, determination, discipline and resiliency to get through this, the hardest sport in the world. Gymnastics can bring so much opportunity and revenue to the Philippines. I mean NCAA women’s gymnastics is huge! Imagine this being an opportunity for young Filipinos to study in tHe Us on full athletic scholarships also.

When he suddenly stop going to school, honestly we have some doubt that he will succeed but look on him now. A diminutive gymnast, Carlos Yulo, 19, from the Philippines captured the 2019 World Gymnastics that was held in Stuttgart, Germany besting other athletes from countries that are gymnastics powerhouses such as China, UK, USA, etc. Why is this news? Because gymnastics is not really considered a very popular sport in the Philippines. Most Filipino men would rather play basketball notwithstanding the lack of height that's needed for basketball players. And for this young man to capture gold is a rare feat for a country that is not considered a powerhouse for gymnastics.

      Whatever happened to English in the Philippines?

    • @eigen1255
      @eigen1255 4 года назад +1

      Teachers’ salaries did not rise to meet the quality of teaching and learning needed to achieve or maintain fluency in the population. Many public school teachers lack good training and are also paid little. Comedians in the country made poor quality English cute instead of stupid. Nationalism became a pretext for lowering standards of communication in English. People who communicated in straight English were ridiculed as elitist. In the 1970s people still could speak straight English- accented, sure, but fluent and grammatically decent. In the 1980s it’s like the Philippines lost its sh*t in many aspects of life. In the 90s there weren’t even designated bus stops in the capital city of Manila. They are just now trying to recover from what seemed like an age of disorganisation, neglect, and mediocrity. As for what that bodes for the instruction of English, that isn’t easy to assess as of yet.

For example, Mayor Isko gave sime funds for now, what if he didn't? and about the future? what about other athletes? Mayor Isko is cuh a responsible politician that he did what he can. However, the Philippine government in general does not have steady support for developing our athletes. I don't know if the Philippine Sports Commission is doing anything about this... Advice from Philippine Champion Carlos Yulo after winning the 2019 World Championships GOLD:
    “There are not a lot of other gymnasts [in the Philippines]. I want them to come to our gym, and try gymnastics, because Filipinos, they like basketball, but we’re small. They should try gymnastics, it’s more fun,”

      I don't know why we are not that excelling on basketball while China does. The physique is the same. But gymnastic should be more. A lot of break dancers are doing gymnastic moves.
