To try figure out what tumbling is? Recently i learned about curling and just like tumbling the name of the sport sounds so mundane but they are both interesting.
ur brain erases the movements,u only see fixpoints right before landing or so ,otherwise it would be too much information to process and u would get dizzy,in normal life its the same,if u turn ur head fast because u hear a noise ur brain eliminates the landscape rushing by and just shows u the point of interest. u can concentrate on seeing everything but u will notice that that isnt really helpful if u have to react really fast directly after ur field of viel has changed drastically.
As someone who used to do this...well, not to that level. Double backflip and double somersault with an twist thrown in here and there was the best I could manage. But anyway...you don't really 'see' anything unless you 're looking to see something. Other than that it's just a big blur. I can however tell you that when you do something wrong, your brain quickly picks up things like how much height and rotation you have so that you can hopefully correct yourself or abort.
This is just awesome! What technique, strength of body and spirit! How much labor has been invested! Fabulous! Well, technology, of course, does not stand still. Track, mats - the pinnacle of technical progress. The only pity is that the athletes are not completely naked. It would be incredible to see this beauty in motion!

He has a fairly simple routine compared to others. As you can see he didn't have any mid air rotates unlike other contestants.

it's actually because they are, you dont know where you are when tumbling and just go by the feel, it's insane. it's why gymnastics is considered so dangerous and hard
