Rob, thanks for taking us on the journey. It’s always a pleasure to watch your video.
Cheers Pascal
That was a great video of your life on road as Fulham photographer Rob.....excellent photos....my team at Craven Cottage on Saturday......stay safe....thanks for sharing
Great video Rob, good to you out & about
Nice to see you on the road again and doing sports. Long hours...
Finally a behind the scene vid again! This is what I came for to your channel (a long time ago) in the first place ☺️
Glad you liked it 👍
Really great content. Thank you for sharing really useful information.
You need a Hot Spot on your cell phone.. I use mine when traveling home to get dirt bike race photos uploaded!
13:54, Rob you forgot your camera that was recording! 🤣🤣🤣 BTS vids are my favourite. Great videography. Great stuff.
Haha - cheers mate
This was another excellent video 📹
Thanks Nik
Greetings from Tennessee. Nice video. Know you are busy but as an amateur just learning, wondering if you would consider embedding exif info that corresponds with each photo in videos. Would be interesing to see all that goes into these shots. Also, what adjustments if any do you make shooting out of the shade. Finally, how do you edit and send to your customer from the shoot location? Thanks!
Excellent video Rob. Thanks for your behind the scenes look at your day to day flow and thoughts. Question: for a gig like this, how many pictures do you send or does the marketing people give you a list of shots they want? Cheers!
I'm also curious about this! And how much (if any) editing goes into the shots before sending? Or are you just sending the raw files?
Rob, thanks for the videos, I'm actually y going to start taking sports photos over the weekend. Under 13's football Saturday, rugby cup final on Sunday and a basketball game for under 15's on Wednesday. Quick question, I'm thinking of taking a 'team photo' before each game .
Canon Eos 650d with a full range of lenses, but from the cheaper end. What settings would you recommend for the team photo, particularly the lens? Many thanks
Hi, very nice video like always! How many photos do u shoot on a day like this? (More or less) :)
Great video as always. What camera do you use to film the vlogs?
Rob! What settings and mode do you use? This is so massive
Thanks for the video. I admire the way you set up the walk shots where it looks as if you have camera operator filming you. What are the two collapsible stool and tables you use? And you aren’t shooting tethered are you? You take the cards out from the camera and download into photomechanic by hand? Thanks
Not shooting tethered no. If you go to my previous recent video about accessories, the stools are linked in the description
Thank you. Found the accessory video.
Are you editing at all or just sending images mid-match to the media team for editing and posting? Either way, what's your workflow?
Loved watching the video. Simple but it gives me a feel of how it is to take pictures at a soccer game. I do a little photography myself (in Suriname South America) and a few weeks ago I went to a friendly soccer game and took pictures. Was my first time taking pictures at a soccer game and then just as the game was going to begin it started to rain and with my entry level gear I had to hide from the rain. The second half I got some shots, but because it was clouded I had to work with slower shutter speeds so it was a challenge yet I enjoyed it. Hope someday to be able to buy some better gear, but at the moment things are really hard in my country so for now gotta work with what I have.
I hope everything is working out for you 🙏🏽
@@artoro8 not really. But no problem, that is my life.
@@Mikey1421985 it'll happen for you soon, I know it 👍🏽
@@artoro8 thanks. I just had kind of a bad part of a day. Life is not always easy, but yes I will make it.
Great video. I also wanted to know approximately how many photos you sent to the team. Also. how did you shoot that game. Aperture or Manual. Auto ISO? If you can say, how much do you make for a game like that, including travel.
I probably sent about 30 during the game and then about 80 as full set afterwards. That's from several hundred actual shots during the game. I couldn't disclose my fees I'm afraid but yes I would include travel time/costs
is this the 400 f/2.8 IS Mark I? Does it play well with the R6?
awesome video behind the scenes, was you shooting in jpeg in order to scoot them off to fulham, also do you resize them before sending.
Yes jpeg but not resized no, large jpeg files sent out
The glamourous life of sports photography.......8 hours of travel time to shoot a 90 minutes game.
For eighty quid.
Nice one
Cheers Paul
Love the BTS videos - a couple of questions: 1. How long in advance do you normally get the team sheets and the PhotoMech template from the agency? 2. Are you using your phone tethered to your laptop to send when you are pitch side?
It's normally the day of event or day before. I'll used wired points where possible, then good wifi next, then phone hotspot last
@@RobSambles thanks - that’s useful
How do you enjoy the R6 vs the 1dx?
so my first video of yours mate. You driving 4 hours and having two breaks in between... was there a reason? Did you change cars to left hand drive half way lol.
I'm lost my friend? Right hand drive all the way here in UK
Great Video Rob. I live behind the scenes. How long does it take to cut and edit such a Video?
Thank you man - for a video like this it takes a few hours. Some of the talking head videos in the office are a little quicker but ones like this are a few hours minimum
When the camera is mounted on the monopod, it's easy to pan the camera left and right, but how about panning the camera up and down? Kind of awkward to rock the camera forward and backward on the pod.
Sports fields are flat. Long telephotos are for reaching our across the field. Not many occasions to have to tilt more than a couple of degrees. Plus they crop. Second bodies with shorter reach lenses are available and usually hanging around the photogs neck or on a waist mount.
@@josephschmeggins6311 But what about for wildlife, where a bird's flight path is not always straight?
@@msbrownbeast Good point but I would imagine if that was your field you’d have a gimbal setup.
How do you get to 'do' this... are you employed by Fulham... or freelance but registered with them.... or part of an agency.... so many questions on just getting to 'do' this...
I'm freelance and work directly with the club for this
World be great to have a Video how you film such things gopro? Gorillapod?
Normally I'd shoot my videos on my R6 but for this I used my DJI Osmo Action because I needed my other camera gear for the shoot
@@RobSambles thanks so much
Obviously a paid shoot? If so, is the 8hrs travelling compensated aswell? Just curious as that's a long day....
Yes I factor travel/time etc into my fee
Shooting from that height must be rubbish. Can’t you go the other side of the boards?
In some stadiums you can, varied rules place to place
