  • During the past recent years I've really been learning and listening to a lot of country music and one day I stumbled across some videos of the Don Kelly Band playing a crazy fast train beat song which turned out to be "Truck Drivin' Man"!
    Along his side he's had some of the best guitarists I've ever heard, and it really inspired me and continue to do so til this day with players like Guthrie Trapp, Johnny Hiland, Brent Mason, Daniel Donato etc.
    If you want access to the tabs and backing tracks I just launched my Patreon page where post will regularly licks, lessons etc. with a big focus on country guitar! And that's where I will post my downloadable content from now on! Hope you'll join and support my work for more future material!

    Great stuff Eric...the comments speak for themselves, I went to Nashville in 2002 a couple of times & again in 2003 & 004, I happened to get there one time, the 1st week Guthrie Trapp started with Don Kelley.What a shock that was, as you said, 'Truck Drivin' Man' was a frequent track ; they were so awesome & the sound, so good ; on Vid it's good, but, being right there night after night, with a Jumbo Beef burgher + beer & that authentic 'knock it all outta the park', atmosphere was just a Wow ! Later I got to sit in with Honky Tonk bands @ Second Fiddle, Legends Corner, The Stage, & so on, and made friends with some great musco's ,but man !! I had to get over my nerves, these guys were just soo' good. What a lucky pleasure & privilege to play with them. One fiddle player I was on stage with Jim Unger ! was so dazzling on 'Home in Indianna', he just inspired me so much, as did Guthrie, Johnny Highland, Don Kelly & many more especially a session player I later worked & recorded with, Charlie Chadwick, what an awesome bass player he is. I'd advise any player, if you can afford it ,just go there !!!

      Hi Eric, I'm guessing, they might let you sit on on a number or two- Then you can say "I was There "!!. At the time I was a converted classic & Jazz player( All the Hank Garland stuff in the bag by 1961/2)- & I gradually developed & picked up a full odd R.h technique of my own. Hank Snow's Tv Studio, on Dickerson, recorded me immediately (Y'Tube 3 Tracks) Eric Ash- 'Bach Goes To Nashville" + 2more..Guthrie invited me to his home for coffee & chat- & he was already a terrific & great !! player way back then. Kind Regards from across the water. Eric.@@erikholmbom

    Hey there! For what it's worth I live in the Nashville area and as a local the only band I'll fight the traffic, tourists, and parking situation to go see is the Don Kelly Band to see who he has playing the guitar. You did a great job on this one!

    Hi Erik. This's such an amazing job you pulled up here. Keeps it up. Btw , just Wondering tho? Do we need to change the scales when the chord changes or just stay in G major/minor all the time in a fast pace song like this. Or it depends on the personal preference? I know some players do change the key of the scale when one major chord changes to another.

    • @erikholmbom
      @erikholmbom  2 года назад +1

      Thank you so much! For me, I like to change the notes I'm targeting when the chord changes. I guess it's personal preference, and sometimes I'll just go minor pentatonic over everything haha! But I think it sounds more melodic when you change the scale!
