The same old same old now 8 years later here comes another interview again during her biggest moment this time at the Olympics? It also proves Simone wants nothing to do with her and that should be respected by her. If in the future she changes her mind so be it but again this is when she wants too not when Shannon does . I fear her doing the latest interview with a tabloid that pays maybe is why Simone will never trust her. She is married and this woman was not invited,her claiming to have been invited here in there why did she not show up ,it sound ti me she was nit invited. The family event is just that family and who ever invited her it maynot have been Simone especially if it was a family reunion type situation. Here she was talking about her father defaming her character but never saying what was not true if her did this . She was a junkie, an alcoholic and her 4 kids ended up in foster care . Did she get them back at some point not sure but what we do know is that man her father drive to another state where they lived and got those children along with her stepmother. They were neglected and not being fed and she was in such bad of a condition when he and his wife adopted Simone and Adia the two youngest he told her she was not going to come in and out their lives in her condition. So all her I because of my situation him ti adopt them is a bunch of b.. ,it was him standing ten toes down telling her she can know longer in her condition abuse her kids . The great aunt his sister adopted the two oldest and she may have been the softest of the two alike military grandpa . So I think she may have at times had more access to them but was that good since their oldest sister ended up on drugs also. Their mother did try hard to heal, went into the military was there 4 years until something happened that could have ruined his life,have him imprisoned for like but all charges were dropped. But I still see the mentality of a junkie in Shannon,the selfishness,the me ,what I want. Also the I want her to forgive me while public doing this in an interview but bit saying what she should be forgave for. No this is not just I had an addiction but what you did to her, , you other kids caused by your addiction .

Do you also know who Shannon's mother is? Why is she never mentioned in all the things I've read about the entire family. I've only heard that Ronald was raising Shannon as a single father when he met Nellie, his current wife.

I’m proud of anyone who overcome substance abuse. People always say they should know better. That’s not always the case, every one’s struggles are different. She admits she was “struggling back then”. That’s how you know change when you own up to your mistakes and do your best to do right.

My dad never cared for me when I was a kid, even when he used to have a good salary. I lived with my grandma, his mom. I never forgave him. I always refused to talk to him until he died at 61. I'll never regret it. Don't waste your time for people who never cared about you. Maybe they changed but years of actions have years of consequences.
And how did that work out for you? from the bitterness in your statements not so well.
It takes TWO people to humble themselves to make a relationship work.
I'd advise everyone to mend as many relationships while here on earth as possible.

Typical. Everytime I see a parent with some type of dependency problem, they play the victim. She should be thanking her parents for not only adopting her child(ren), but for the great job they have done. I hope she stays sober for her own sake, and no one elses.
Likely like most parents, they probably failed her in some way, and then tried to undo their sins by raising the grandchildren with more compassion. If they had done right by her, they wouldn’t have to be raising their grandkids in the first place
That’s exactly what I say. And back in the 80s I got caught up in addiction to. And I made up my mind that I would never leave my children’s side. And that I would be there no matter what. I’ve been clean now for many many many years. However, there is still a severe price to pay. And Simone‘s mother cannot think it’s OK to come around her child after she’s gained fame and fortune and get in her life. As she was struggling as an addict, what she should’ve been doing was thinking of her children above the drug. It really amazes me how people choose the substance and forget that there are consequences for the choice. There are so many people that have done well for themselves, and then the drug addicted parents come running around years later, expecting a hug and other things. My stance is that Simone Biles. Mother needs to take several seats.❤

No one should hate on her. She is not the first or last has gone through these demons in her life. She just need to be grateful that her dad step him, and Nelly his wife is a beautiful soul. People will always have some thing to say about others when they fall. We all will go through something in out life, that is not good. Some people feel that they are untouched. Living in this world while Stan is prowling around you will never know when his demons will attack you. God bless her, and she is not left out of their lives. She just need to work on her self, and seek help when ever she is weak, and everything will be all right.

My only question would be, if she wants what's best for Simome, why even do an interview about yourself now while Simone needs to focus all of her energy on the Olympics without any distractions? We all go through some form of hardships in our life time. I have much love for Simone Biles and respect for her biological mother. I think it's great that Simone's mom has turned her life around and I hope that the fame of her daughter continues to strengthen and encourage her mom to never slip back into those past moments of her life that she regrets. My prayers go out to Simone that God builds a wall of protection around her and to keep her safe from all the wolves out there and for Simone's mom that God continue to strengthen and keep her on the right path. In conclusion, God bless them all even her lovely children sitting on the couch.

I love the way you explain this. Even though, as an ex addict myself that has been clean from drugs for many many years I had an opinion about this. Now Simone Biles, Mother and I share common grounds. That is the abuse of our fathers, and what they’ve done to us. However, as an addict, we cant expect once the children, gain fame and fortune, for us to be able to come around and they welcome us with huge open arms. No, there is much work that needs to be done. We made a choice we were sick. We have to remember we hurt a lot of people. We must take accountability. And if, some of the punishment be that our children don’t want to be bothered with us. We must take that in stride until they are ready to be bothered with us. Because if we truly right, the Lord will go before us, and change the hearts and minds of others. My suggestion to Simone‘s mother is to just have a seat, cheer for her baby, absolutely, and wait humbly for her to come for her. If she never comes for her, that’s part of the punishment that we have brought on ourselves. I say this very humbly.❤

Well to be quite honest, Simone's grandparent did a shit job raising their daughter. They could've done better. They should've been there for her, and taught her better. I mean look at Simone. Nobody chooses to be an addict, but people choose whether to take drugs or not. She knew there was a chance of addiction when she started taking the drugs. Just like she knew she could get pregnant 8 times by having unprotected sex, or knew that using drugs and being in and out of jail her kids could be taken from her. Where was she when Simone and her sister was growing up, where was she when Simone was being home schooled, where was she when Simone needed money to pay for all the training, the outfits, and the other stuff she needed to be a gymnast. If it wasnt for them she wouldnt have turned out to be that great gymnist. She gaved up on all of them for her own selfish desires when they were small. She was supposed to be there for them the most. They could have ended up in the wrong foster care and not live out their dreams. She had a negative impact on them and thank God for the people that raised them. They could have been scarred for life because of her choices. As the saying goes if you are not there during my struggle dont expect to be there in my success.

You are blessed to have your father and a good wife like Nelly to take your daughters. god knows where they would have ended up. You still spoke positive about the situation, and I am happy they still invited you to spend time with them. it was not brutal with what you dad have done. it was the right thing to do in order to save your kids from the system. You should worship them for doing so. It is amazing to see how her grand father adopted them and make them his own. Now you need to focus on bettering yourself so that everyone can be proud of you, and yes, the pass is the past. I know that you will be awesome and get all of what is in store for you. By knowing your kids are safe is the most beautiful thing, and you are invited on trips with them. Most people does not have this. Your dad is an awesome man along with his wonderful wife.

I didn’t hear what the dad said, but if he did speak negatively of his own daughter that’s not good at all! She fell! She was caught up. She battled addiction, SHE OWNED ALL OF THAT! Thus is life. Sorry but these comments on this post and video are very unnecessary. She was a crack addict which isn't being a criminal, its a health condition. Just like all these WHITE herion users that are being given treatment instead of jail time today. She did what was BEST for her child at that time. If she had not given her daughter up, she would not have had the opportunity to be the champion she is today. While her timing is questionable, I dont doubt she loves her child and is proud of her. i maybe would agree with you had she gone to her father asking for help. but thats not what happened. thankfully when the social worker called simones grandfather, he took all 3 kids in to raise them in a healthy environment, asking his daughter not to interfere for the initial years after the adoption, standard to help the confused children readjust + acclimate.

Crack is illegal as are many other street drugs these are "controlled & banned substances."
These substances are banned and deemed dangerous by the law. Possession of such banned drugs is a criminal offense. Get it right.

Simone's story shouldn't have been about her mother. It should have been about her talent and skills in gymnastics. The media loves to sell a story. For the past 13 years Simone has lived in a good/safe environment. The media did Gabby the same way in 2012. Let's focus on the skills.
We should never judge people based on their failures, you never know what someone it’s going through. At least her father with her stepmother adopted her, she never killed her or abuse her. There is plenty of people who don’t care and do crazy things to their children. Was Simone's grand father actually in his daughters life? Did he actually raise his daughter?... Is the question I would like to know... Because a fatherless home may have contributed to how Simone's mother turned out.
This woman had both a mother and father. Though her mother is now dead the father remarried. The parents are not responsible for the choices of their adult children. This woman could turn her life around if she really wanted to do so. But she can't take any credit for how her children turned out when she didn't raise them. Hopefully, she will be motivated or shamed into getting it together. Were it not for the grandparents there would be no Simone Biles. Those children would be destroyed. This lady shows no tears or remorse for her addicted behavior and its consequences. Gabby Douglas' s deadbeat dad tried to show up and get a pay day out of her. She didn't fall for it. Simone and Gabby have deadbeat parents in common.

I was raised by my grandmother , but my mother was always a phone call away. I always love my mother because she was my mother. I called my grandmother's mom, but I also called my mother mom. All families have problems, but we still learn to love each other's.
I was raised by my aunt. I saw how some of her biological kids put her through hell. She was a single parent mom of 5. And then took in my sister and I after the death of my mom. Some of her kids definitely tried her. She had to push them on their way. Looking back, they got into drugs, street life, and trying to live a disrespectful, rebellious life under her roof. She could only take so much. Out they had to go!!!!.

you don't get second chances when you are a parent, every single decision matters, and you have to be accountable for every decision you made. Instead of trying to make excuses, and trying to make yourself look good, why don't you just make a video about how proud you are of your daughter, and how grateful you are to the people that really raised her, and really made her a good person. cause you had nothing to do with any of the good she is. You need to learn how to be humble. for as long as you were messed up, you need to be humble for twice that long.
Everyone has a story...everyone has struggles. Good for you for standing up for yourself, and for all you've done to pull yourself up. Your daughter may be the best athlete we've ever seen, or will see. You have every right to be proud.

@@SmcdMcd-d2k Which doesn't change a thing about my post. Chemical dependency experts I've worked with over the years tell me the average number of relapses for certain addicts is seven. They consider it part of the process. It's tougher for some than others. Way tougher. Like I said, everyone has a story. In the moment she made that video, she'd made obvious progress. She may make it, she may not. But she's still Simone's mom and she has the right to be proud, "fully sober" or not.

I'm so proud of this woman. People don't start doing drugs for no reason. There was some sort of trauma that had a major impact on her that she isn't talking about. She was so brave to make the decision to honor her father's wishes to remain out of Simone and her sister's life if she could not get clean. I'm glad she got off. Even if Simone chooses never to speak to her again, I hope mom finds joy.

Both were this some 8 years ago when Biles started winning championships now a few days ago after her performance in the Olympics here she comes again doing a I interview with TDM,a tabloid that pays for interviews. Both times she made her moments, moments she trained for year for about her, that is a narc ,addicts behavior. Biles could not even enjoy her success without her doing interviews wanting to be known as her mother ,Now.

It’s your past but not ur kids past. They will FOREVER deal with the trauma that losing a mother brings. It’s the most primal wound a child can have.
Own what u did and don’t make excuses ma’am. When u do it only diminishes your children’s memories and feelings. Your memory of that time is of an addicted drug addict.. Without a lot of clarity. Their memory of that time was instability, physical and emotional neglect ,hunger, loneliness, being taken into foster care, and having to adapt to being adopted.
No medal will ever heal what you did to them.
They didn’t have to “ lose their mom” that was her father’s choice to alienate them from her.

Her daughters are both over the age of 18 the no longer need her guardianship. Not that she offered any to begin with though. The grandparents adopted the girls so legally she is no longer their mother only biologically. This woman has to own up to her own mistakes. I wish her no harm but she needs to accept her mistakes and repent. She needs to seek her daughters forgiveness for abandoning them and being unfit. She might never be able to build a relationship with her daughters. It might be too late. She doesn't realize she has to earn any relationship with those girls. Going on TV acting as if she is entitled to a relationship she has never earned is not going to do it. Truth is she has never been a mother to those girls and is no longer recognized as their mother.

I hate it when people like this aren't there for their children, then when they become successful, particularly when that success is in the public eye, here they come out of the woodwork. This is all about Simone. No one wants to hear anything about her biological mother. She wasn't there for them then, so don't try to use Simone's success to try to get on the money gravy train.

I just imagine if Simone's biological mother didn't go down the path she did, if she was a responsible parent who took care of her kids, we probably wouldn't be talking about superstar Simone Biles. Her talent might never have been discovered. It's like the hardships and the adoption probably played the biggest role in shaping her success.
