I listened to Emily Haines as a teenager and Morrissey in my 20s. Practiced singing at home on my own for years and realized my voice naturally became a blend of both (along with my own voice). I didn’t even notice it until someone pointed it out. Sometimes it just happens!

I love music so much and most of songs i heard didn't touch my feelings but the first time i heard rock and its actually a Malaysian band called wings the guitar the bass drums and the vocalist they resemble my soul i was touched so i would hear rock song everyday and there's this day i heard nirvana its come as you are and now my favorite band is nirvana well rock make me know my self better bcz the music express their feelings and ive been true to myself with letting go my anger and sadness while listening rock especially nirvana and i didn't do anything stupid to calm myself when something bad happened or when im in a big trouble rock feels me

It worked for him, just proceed - with *caution*... (if it hurts, don't proceed!....take a break, and go at it with a different technique which doesn't hurt... PLUS, since you are so young your vocal folds/cords will not be fully developed so don't expect to sound like a full grown man - be PATIENT)... Hi Daron (? is that right? love the funky characters!), I don't really like to 'argue' with any other coaches techniques for teaching, but I will say that it depends on where you want to go with your singing career. Is there any point in learning opera/pop if you want to sing rock/metal? I know (from a video on my "how to sing like Kurt Cobain" playlist that Dave Grohl met with a vocal coach who gave him warmup scales on a cassette and he promptly threw it away! LOL!)... To me, it's kinda like - if you want to be a mathematician why on earth would you go study 4yrs of English Literature? So, it depends on how well you like your relationship is with your coach - try to tell them what you want to achieve. I always let the student direct me in where they want to go with their singing. Hey finally got the chance to listen, and you're voice is not bad at all - you just need to manage your airflow a little better. Try not to push out so much air because when you start to run out of air, your voice sounds 'weak' (in general this is a problem many beginners have, NOT just you!)
