This console has intrigued me since Day 1. Really love how the developers and producers are continually adding content, and fixing problems with each iteration. I just got my 3DS back after 2+ years... so I'm solid for portable gaming for now. But I will definitely be picking up a version of the Evercade at some point. Thanks Again Mr. Hancock!
Highly anticipated device, but it looks like those who ordered the special edition won't be getting theirs until 2023. The system looks amazing; can't wait to get mine. Thanks for the video, John.
I was really hoping they'd release the Capcom collection individually, since I already bought they're handheld twice (black and purple original models) and the VS home console, I couldn't really stretch to a 4th version of the same system. But man, I was, and still am very tempted!
Excellent review John. I've never owned any of the Evercade consoles but I "think" my wife is getting me one for Christmas but overall this seems like a quality product for those into handhelds. Thanks for the review and Happy Holidays to you and the family.
Pre-ordered the standard edition. It's on the way! Really looking forward to getting it! Now I need to figure out what to do with the original one I own lol. Really sucks what happened to the special editions getting stolen! Merry Christmas everyone! 🎅 🎄
I just ordered this version of the Evercade to get the new Duke Nukem games, I'm stoked for this and I hope to see a few more Duke releases here! It'd also be awesome to see some old SNES/Genesis wrestling games on this
I miss the red pattern on the new exp. Kind of a defining design aesthetic from the other 2 Evercades and I love it. Shame it's not here. Just got Irem and Toaplan collections myself. Looking forward to those. Great video.
Battle Chopper is also known as Mr Heli on the PC Engine. And that is cool the Data East arcade cart has games that support tate mode. I read that in a FW update coming in 2023 they will add in button mapping for the system.
I found this review the most useful (and I've watched quite a few recently)... Definitely the handheld for the 'retro-curious' (like me) who doesn't want to dabble in finding the games themselves and loading and fiddling about with techie stuff. Maybe a good gateway to the more advanced retro systems, but nice for people that just want to bang in a cartridge AND have the cool cart boxes and little manuals! Thanks.
Great review as always. I am still on the fence about upgrading. The one thing that bothers me is the Tate mode. You have confirmed my fears. I don't see how it can be possible to play it like that. Having fat fingers makes it worse too. Now something like the Flip Grip on the Switch, that is super comfortable for Tate mode. Maybe someone will make one like that.
The way to access two of the hidden games I can remember are .... Press menu ten times to get one and the other is L1, L2, R1, R2 I think in that order
I love their products. I’m not sure how quickly I’ll get this one because I don’t use their other products a ton, but I’m sure I’ll pick it up eventually.
Finally i got exp. Still have some issues. Ronius tale doesn't work on exp. Im not sure or its because my ronius tale not updated. Is it exp charging if console is off? I hold charge over night and as soon as turned on im lost one bar from battery after 3 minutes.
Love Evercade but the dpads always felt a little lacking to me, I wonder if the EXP dpad is identical to the original model / VS controllers, or if they altered it at all. Edit: answered mid video... commented too soon 🤣😅
I would have liked at least 3 buttons for Tate Mode as many shmups use 3 buttons. A larger screen and as John said bigger buttons would have been better.
An interesting video, I own the original handheld and a few games but don't play them. I won't be rushing out to buy it; I want to buy a Raspberry Pi; probably used or a reconditioned desktop.
@@JR-gl1nx I told them so many times in the past 5 years and they don't care. Most of the games require you to press the shoot button all the time. Unplayable. Especialy on a handheld where pressing will shake the screen.
I can't bring myself to pay $200 Canadian for another 4 inch screen. From my perspective, they absolutely needed to increase the screen size. In this day and age, even the Switch's 6 inch is deemed too small by many.
Ugh… so frustrated that I won’t get mine until 2023. Whoever stole that stock, I will find you. I have a particular set of skills that will not aid me in finding you… but you will be caught… by someone… hopefully.

Been waiting for a review. Thanks!
I remember JohnRiggs covering this console and it's really cool.
I hope Blaze Entertainment makes a Vol. 2 of the irem or CAPCOM collection.
Irem 2 is confirmed, I believe.
For them to release Capcom volume 2 you'd need to buy another console! 🤣🤣🤣
Highly anticipated device, but it looks like those who ordered the special edition won't be getting theirs until 2023. The system looks amazing; can't wait to get mine. Thanks for the video, John.
There was a targeted theft of the SE shipments. It’s really unfortunate.

I say wait and see. They'll probably release it physically. Hopefully! 🤞
it shouldn't have a flat back it should have big grips in the back for comfort on horizontal mode & for comfort, grip & leverage on vertical mode
Can't wait to get my limited edition. Thanks for your honest feedback. Great video!
Really enjoying my VS and can't wait to finally get my hands on the EXP, looks excellent!
I know you didn’t mention it but from what I saw. I know this is definitely going to your museum.
Good video and unboxing and review of the EXP. I am waiting on mine to come, should be coming, this next week! Can't wait to play it!

This family of systems is very good. This is how you do a retro console. Good review and cool video John!👉😃👈
The fact that it has physical media makes it very interesting, I hope they can release much more games/collections.
Can't wait to get mine next week . Nice review 👍

I have wanted one of these ever since it came out. This is what the Amico should have been.
Yeah, very disappointed about that project.
Oh that last game looks cool. I like that you can grab other ships to use as a shield. Very neat.
I really want the VS model that just hooks up to the TV. This does look cool... Someday.. someday.
Mine is on its way and I can’t wait!
I love the original Evercade. Was really hoping the next iteration would have a bigger screen. Still grabbing this tho
This needs a turbo button ASAP
It's a mini arcade machine 😳 I love it already
Wonder if Game Sack will review this.
TAAATTTEE MOODDEEE!

i would love to see those games with upgraded graphics and sound.. I think there is definately a market for Upgraded Retro.😉
Check out the ghost in your last video bro starts 13 minutes 30 seconds I thought it was a bug but they don't move like that.

Does it include the game "Lorry Heist 2: The Inside Job"?
Can’t wait for the official release
Nice upgrade its time to get a Evercade EXP
I wanna get this, but I just bought a switch yesterday. It might be a while before I get one. Looks really cool though.
That Tate mode makes this pretty Top G
They need to make a evercade system that CD and DVD based that would be nice
Love Evercade but the dpads always felt a little lacking to me, I wonder if the EXP dpad is identical to the original model / VS controllers, or if they altered it at all.

what is the last game you are playing at the end?
i really like your vids i also love the evercade keep it up
Thanks!

In the hunt looks good
Capcom Cartridge please!!!!👍🏻

Breath of Fire? Finally a JRPG for this thing! Hope more come out.
I wonder if they can get some Sega classics on this thing.
Nice review
Looks sweet, wish the capcom games were on a cart though.
Grats Man good for you I hope you have fun with it, Pass I would rather get a steam deck next year my PC just died 🎄🎮
Does the UI still have music?
Yes
@@johnhancockretro thanks
John, Tate is pronounced tah-tay. That's how Blaze pronounces it in their videos.
Hope it comes in black
Cheeses cripes!!! --THANK YOU FOR PUTTING IT NEXT TO THE ORIGINAL HANDHELD!
If a sub could move like that, underwater... I like the console. 6 games for 20 bucks is good.
I think it’s pronounced “ta-te”. Means stand or vertical in Japanese.
Everpain, no autofire = carpal tunnel damage.
There’s no turbo function? I’d taken that as a given.
@@JR-gl1nx I told them so many times in the past 5 years and they don't care. Most of the games require you to press the shoot button all the time. Unplayable. Especialy on a handheld where pressing will shake the screen.
Too bad that The Evercade never comes into mostly U.S. retailers other than Best Buy and GameStop.

You review a handheld and proceed to show it running on a TV?!
I show both tv and handheld. If you care to watch lol.
@@johnhancockretro my apologies 👍
The new system looks so boring. Like every other Chinese retro portable available on Amazon. The first design was cool
Awww yisssss
A tiny bit cramped

Taters mode. \o/
For $150, it's not worth it to play capcom games when most people have the Capcom collection on PS2 & PS4 now. For portability this is also on switch.
Hate to say it, but I think I prefer the original more.
E waste no need for this
Mine got stolen from a warehouse according to funstock.
