- This is the first in a series of videos in the works where I go back and play the mainline western releases of the Monster Hunter series! While I played Monster Hunter back when it came out in 2004, I haven't tried it in almost 20 years. Does it hold up? Should new fans of the franchise go back and play it now? Load your cluster shot and break out your whetstone and get ready to take on Monster Hunter 1!
I was very surprised to see this on my suggestions on the homepage and watched fully to only find out you have less than 100 subs with this quality! I love the idea of this series especially since you actually have been a fan since the beginning.
I started on 4U, but the farthest back I played was tri and 3U. As a monster hunter fan, I'm gonna subscribe and hope the algorithm catches this series!
Hey, thanks a bunch - That really means a lot! I'm almost through with Freedom and I'm really looking forward getting to 3/3U! I hope you stick around for it!
I borrowed a Wii and bought a pro controller and Tri and have started where it all began for me
That's an excellent place to start! MH3 and 3U are some of my favorites, for sure!
I love just how much of an overlap there is between PSO players and Monster Hunter players! As soon as I heard the CCA music I was thinking "oh are they gonna bring it up?" Great video by the way, very nice overview.
I'm 100% convinced the Monster Hunter devs were looking to pick up the PSO audience! And they succeeded 😄 I really appreciate the compliment! Look forward to the next one - More PSO music guaranteed! 😆
It's nice to see that someone else got same idea as me :D
I have a pause currently after beating Kushala in MH2 XD Because I went with a small challenge that I was rolling weapon type every new quest star 🤣🤣 Definetely not recommending HH for MH2 xD
had to learn to stop mashing attack when trying this game after world - very satisfying to get the lance's triple stab hop combo down.
also, the japanese version's server has been recreated, don't need a patch to connect even - tho an english patch does exist for it. there's a pretty active community around the ps2 trilogy these days
Yeah, these older games definitely reward more precise inputs!
I'm guessing you won't be covering Dos and Portable 3rd? That's too bad.
I will likely be covering Dos at the end of the series!
It's a shame you played the western version, since there are no replacement multiplayer servers for that version yet, and likely not for a long time.
Yeah, it was the copy I had from way back. I still had fun playing it again! It's really cool to hear that the Japanese version has active servers.
@@TKSAPlays I would say it's worth the replay as they made a lot of changes to the game when they released it outside of Japan. One of those many changes being how you craft Mega Potions in the JP version it's Herb + Honey.
