Been watching your videos for a while now and was inspired to start a collection. Started with the amzwatch, its specs for price and clean looks, now am looking for a dress watch to add.
Very Useful advice. I watched your review about omega railmaster before. Last week I got railmaster black with bracelet unworn only equal 3150 usd in Indonesia while Boutique give me best price 5069 usd. Its important do research first.
The Omega Railmaster isn't as iconic as these pieces but it's still an amazing watch that you can find NIB and heavily discounted on the grey market. It's a shame they discontinued it. I hope they bring it back a fourth time. I love the simple Aqua Terra meets Explorer look.
To me, the best way to think about this is %tage Δ (after AD discount) vs your need to feel confident that the watch is totally genuine. For example, a speedy prof that’s 8k MSRP, discounted 10%, and listed on chrono24 at 6k (certified, box/papers, US only, etc. etc…applying every filter to assure the chrono24 product is identical to the AD’s) has a %Δ of 17%. That % represents the ‘worth it’ factor to you. Personally, my threshold is around 20%. Less than that, I’d rather buy at the AD b/c the savings just isn’t worth the risk, even despite the seller’s institutional guarantees.
So true, less than 20% is north worth the risk. You will always have the worry in the back of your mind if the watch is actually genuine or been abuse and modified.
A great list to be sure. I was lucky enough to get my Reverso Tribute before the major price increases. As for the rest of this list, I do have my eye on the Cartier Santos and a part of me really wants the IWC (Big) Pilot. The Monaco, while tempting, is just too thick for me to look past. I don't have a tiny wrist, but I feel like around 13.5mm in height is as much as I'll tolerate.
MaMaCoo You are so well-informed about luxury watches. You've obviously done your due diligence and the comparison to the US is very informative...because of course, I live in New York. thank you very much
Omega discounts are harder to come by now. I bought an Aqua Terra last night (teak, not shades) and was given a 12% discount, mainly because I recently purchased a watch from my AD, otherwise it would have been 10%. I tried to negotiate further, perhaps to 15, but there was obvious resistance. If I wanted the new black model, I doubt I would have even got 5%. Other brands there (Grand Seiko, Longines etc) can be discounted up to 15% without any major hassle as long as you present yourself as a serious buyer. re: Santos. Nice watch, but not everybody can pull it off. You need a certain look/style for it to really work.
I disagree, the newer model Santos is the perfect blend of a Sports/Dress watch. The ability to transition from braclet to strap makes it extremely versatile.
@@rafaeloliva6425 It screams luxury, so I'm not sure how versatile it really is, but I was referring more to a specific 'look'. I understand that it is often worn more casually nowadays, but that doesn't mean anyone can do it. You still need to have a sense of style about you for it to 'work'. People also pair Rolexes with tracksuits too.
Retail price for the Heuer Monaco Calibre 11 is now $8100 USD. It's too much for what it is. I waited and found one on Watchbox for $4000. Much more reasonable and I'm happy I saved a lot of money.
True, these have really gone sky high. I bought my Gulf for around 4k. But i guess top brand auto chronos with in house movements are mostly priced this high.

@@OneManReviews You are probably correct. They should not advertise it otherwise. Ironically my IWC Spitfire is only 60mm but with a screw-down crown. Go figure.
I just got into watch collecting. I've loved watches since I was young but I never had anyone teach me or bring deeper into the world. MaMaCoo brought closer to a community and hobby I always wanted to get into more and that is incredibly meaningful to me !
The only Iconic watch in your video is the Santos. All the other are generic looking watch. As far as prestige, recognizably and iconic staus, the Santos is head and shoulders above the rest.
@@rafaeloliva6425 Omega watches have their own distinct style, and Cartier make cheaper watches than Omega, so it is unclear why you made that comparison.
You must not be aware of the Cartier collection. What do you mean by cheaper? What is clear is that Cartier is selling more watches than Omega, and they have watches with timeless iconic designs that Omega could never match. They also have better value retention and much better brand recognition. I have made the comparison because Omega sits in 3rd place in sales behind the crown and Cartier. Those are cold hard facts!
@@rafaeloliva6425 You can get into the brand at lower price points. The tech is also inferior to Omega. They only recently took second place as well, but I don't care about that. Value retention is the result of their watches being more like jewellery sold mostly to women, and besides, watches are not an investment. If I want to preserve value, I'll buy gold.
Regardless of price, very tasteful and classy choices
Thanks 🙏🏻
An Omega Speedmaster Profesional is a no brainer for any watch enthusiast and a must in everyone's collection. 😍
As long as your wrist is above 6.5" 😅
A watch tht never went to the moon but marketed as moon watch😂
@@johngear5747 The Hesalite version of the watch DID go to the moon. The other option did not.
@@rmd4209I bought the hesalite version mainly due to its history. A piece of history on your arm… atleast what it feels like.
I disagree that any Omega is easily recognized. Cartier and Rolex are truly iconic. Omega is not on their level, and screams I could not get a Rolex.

Thank you. Glad that the review was helpful and congratulations on a new great watch!
It's amazing how much I agree with you on every piece you showcased as true icons. Great presentation. Subscribed.
Thank you! Much appreciated!
Great list, but you forgot to mention Zenith el primero
That would be a good addition.

I love my Railmaster and I also think it's a great watch. The older version is also a great piece and Rolex Explorer attractive alternative.
I like the white strap on the speedmaster
Yeah it looked surprisingly good.

Is any watch worth buying at retail if the secondary market is below MSRP?
I think it depends on how much the model loose on the secondary market. If the margin is not big it might be better to buy at retail.
What an amazing outcome for a beautiful watch. Always a pleasure to see MaMaCoo work your magic. Thanks for sharing this transformation with us!

Bought Speedy at about 12% discount and Reverso at 15%.
Very nice.

Спасибо. Мне тоже очень понравились и часы и как на руке. На жаль не мои, а на обзор. На днях опубликую :)
Solid video. Solid watches. Thank you.

New at msrp makes sense only if you’re keeping it forever or if it’s a stainless Rolex

Sub with date in 2017 at 15% Disc.
Hmmm, I don't have disposable money even @ 15% discount in 2017. It's 2024 , I am ready but will not pay above msrp for sub date.
Those day are gone unfortunately.
reverso, not reversal
Its not worth till the ad give u a bundling option and u get rolex first and later😂😂😂😂😂😂
Please take the Santos off your list , once you wear one it’s worth the price .
Truth told no luxury watch is worth retail price.
I saw a guy wearing a Cartier Santos 100 XL chronograph, the size and thickness is unreal. It really looks hideous and it’s a really bad flex imo.
That's why they discontinued it.
Oh yes it's a massive girlie watch if u ask me.
