  • IS BLADE SHOW AWARD WINNING COMPETITION A SCAM? IS BLADE SHOW RIGGED? WELL IM NOT COMPLETELY SURE BUT HERE IS MY OPINION AND WHY I THINK ITS POSSIBLE AFTER GOING MULTIPLE YEARS IN A ROW. IM NOT SURE HOW WINTER BLADES DID NOT WIN MOST INNOVATIVE KNIFE THIS YEAR, HE HAS A BUNCH OF NEW MODELS THAT HAVE NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE INCLUDING ONE THAT IS A DOUBLE ACTION OUT THE SIDE AUTOMATIC THAT CAN ALSO BE USED MANUALLY WHICH HAS NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE, HOW DID HE NOT WIN.

It's a similar situation with The Game Awards. Some of the choices for the subcategories were bizarre for the 2023 show.
No rhyme or reason and any gamer worth their salt knows they're rigged choices. I hate this garbage.
The only one that made sense for 2023 was giving Baldur's Gate 3 GOTY, which is legitimately deserved.

A freakin' Swiss Army Knife has a corkscrew!
Sure it's cool and all, but I don't think it can be "innovative." It wasn't innovative when a corkscrew was first put on a knife, it was just clever.
When I think of "innovative," I think of an elaborate or creative design involving locking mechanisms, blade deployments, handle design, exotic blade steel or some combination of these elements.
This does a great disservice to truly innovation designs, Winter Blade notwithstanding because his stuff is legit and original as hell.

Ahhh it makes me mad, when i watched your walk around, the only knife that excited me was the double action auto, everything else was cool, but it's been a while since we have seen anything that cool, so sad it is what it is, maybe there should be two categories for best innovative, one for the large well known companies, and one for the smaller more independent companies if there going to pull this crap, otf was exciting when it came out, so was the button locks and the axis back in the day, the compression lock, they all changed the knife world, and so will this new one of they let it and don't bury it, i mean didn't spyderco win an award for cut outs in it's g10, i mean what is that, seriously, and I'm a Spyderco fan boy all the way, but innovative and exciting it was not, it was a black magnacut with cut outs in the g10, I'm getting one for sure, bus it is not innovative, micro milling on titanium is more innovative than that,

I was going to say “not rigged but having friends goes a long way”; this probably is consistent with most contests, judges aren’t impartial as they like to portray. But this is even worse at a trade show, larger manufacturers will have larger booths, know more people and will get more “favors”…
so ya, in other words you are completely right, it’s rigged! 👍

This video, of all the Blade Show videos across the board, is probably the most relevant. Obviously there is a lot of cool stuff and new models and awesome customs at every Blade Show; but this definitely touches on a more important point which is the relevance of the awards. I don’t really pay any attention to these awards in the past but I’d occasionally hear people bring up knife of the year once in a while but didn’t care. But if a guy like Bryan Winters and his incredible designs and innovation can’t win an award over a knife with a wine opener in the handle, then it just confirms my belief that these awards are just grand standing bull shit. Thanks for touching on this Jerad I agree with what you say completely and I definitely am not putting down knives that have one any of the awards, I’m just putting down the awards themselves.

What's the name of the double action knife that's automatic and manual? Is it out yet? If so, where can I get one? If not, is there an estimated release date? Sorry for so many questions, but I really want one lol. Thanks

Winter Blade Co. Has the dopest knives around. Innovative design is great and all but... Who sponsored the event?
Nepotism is alive and well in EVERY community, even our own.

hey kneeves have you heard of Vallotton Soldier Of Fortune 2000 Double Action ? its both an auto and manual opening and its manufactured in 2000

    • @NeevesKnives
      @NeevesKnives  3 месяца назад

No but I'm sure you are going to say automatic knives have come manual which I know, but not with the same mechanism if you use the auto you can't retract the blade with ease or auto,

This one is a double action OTS (out the side).. Its mechanism is very different from OTFs (out the fronts), and also very different from dual action knives which are auto + manual open, but not auto close.. Cheers! 🤗

I saw a comment that really made sense (and was quite funny to boot): seems like some of these companies have a subscription to the awards so they win every year.

Imagine giving most innovative to someone that basically simplified what victorinox has been doing for decades....

Maybe shows like this reward their sponsors who INVEST in the show. You would hope thats not the case but money talks and if a sponser is dishing out $$$ only for his competition to get acknowledgement and recognition... well that won't last.

Great points, and agreed on Winters' innovation... but complaining about this is just like complaining that YOUR favorite movie didn't win the Oscar You think it should have.

The problem is that there is nothing innovative about a corkscrew in a knife and there’s nothing innovative about the PM2. It’s been around for decades and nothing has changed but the blade steel. And it’s still nothing special with magnacut at this point when you can get a hogue deka with magnacut for close to 100 dollars when it’s on sale. There’s a fuckin opinel with a corkscrew in it.

Calling a knife with a corkscrew innovative, is like saying victorinox invented the wheel!
I wonder what will win next year? A knife with a screwdriver? lol

    • @P.W.R.

Things like corkscrews, driver bits, bottle openers, chisels, mini hack saws, and other little bits and bobs is not innovative. It's just clever.
These elements aren't bad, they're just clever, not innovative. In my opinion, going beyond conventional design is what can make something innovative.
Winter Blade is the perfect example of doing something unconventional. That's how you build something innovative. If you can make an "out there" idea into a practical and functional product, then you can classify it as innovative.
A corkscrew on a knife should be disqualifying for "most innovative" category.
