When I purchased 'Marbles' all my other CD's took a back seat for quite a while. Fantastic Place is where I found profound solace. A song directed to the heart.
This song was how I found Marillion, "I am really so glad he (Dave) did" too or I would have never found one of my all time favourite songs and bands :)
It's incredible that Fantastic Place almost didn't make it on to Marbles. It is one of the great Marillion songs - perhaps the greatest of all. The band, I hope, will ponder that they almost didn't finish it.
I just cliked on it because of title - lost touch with marillion in 80s for indie /alternative but gave it a shot and am still blown by it 3 yrs on. I never heard it on radio in southern england ( same old old same songs by same acts ) and consider this a sad enditement to programme producers. This song paints a picture from ' head in hands ' to ' mountain top' at final creshendo (?) . Uplifting while accessable to those who'd never get hedonistic. A triumph of a tune- Thankyou Guys. I know you know..this song is a gift to Soul and Spirit Thanks again...love from new forest Pixies wytches cats hens and Labs 😁
How can someone give this a thumbs down. Unbeliever in mankind. Oh well.
Cannot believe I am so privileged to know this guy and band. Live to all
Great song. Steve Hogarth is so inspiring. His humility belies his genius.

Fantastic Place has saved me more than once. If it's Dave who got it to what it was then I'm so grateful. What an incredible song .
Still may favourite Marillion song.
Marillion is my Fantastic Place.

H is very much not the only one who's truly glad Mr Meehan pushed the song! It's such a gem.
I wish I could have an instrumental version of this song.
