Pure Magic❤
I swear this is the greatest album ever written.
Martin Jakubski is an absolutely amazing vocalist!!
I believe that's the first singer in 30 years I've found able to fill Fish's shoes. Kudos !
Ahem.. No.
Wouldn't be because he sounds exactly LIKE Fish, would it? Come on. :D
😂
Totally agree - he was very faithful to Fish’s original vocals, including the Scottish accent on “a spider wanders…”. Brilliant.
It's not difficult for him, being a Scot!
Merci
Wow, Rothery's guitar tone is magical - my fave album of all time
same for me too, the best of MariLLion in an absolute sense, but not the only one in the world of music
Saw them at Southampton Gaumant do this live. Started with the overture to la gazza ladra by Rossini. Class.
Marillion that is...
I was apprehensive about watching this, Misplaced Childhood is one if my very favourite albums ever ever ever! I grew up listening to it over and over and know it inside out, like most Marillion fans from that era, most likely, I feel its a very part of me and I still listen to it regularly. I needn't have worried, this was a brilliant performance and the vocalist, give or take a few lyrical errors, which can be forgiven given the albums complexity, did a phenomenal job of paying tribute to Fish''s sound. Steve Rothery's tone and performance was spellbinding!! Stunning. I would love to hear a professional recording of this! Thanks for uploading.
Obviously Steve wouldn't do it if it sounded crap. Obviously. Do you not trust him?
@@garymitchell5899 So Steve isn't Fish? 🤣
@@robburgess4556 Not sure what you mean. Steve knows the importance of this album and he wouldn't play it if they didn't do it justice. So no need for the OP to feel apprehensive. Is what I'm saying.
This is awesome
Where is my childhood. crying while listening today❤
Fantastic. Martin does an amazing job on vocals, it's great this music is kept alive. Go see StillMarillion if you get the chance!
I saw them in Chester for the first time in February, then again in Wolverhampton. They're doing Chester again in Feb 2024. I'm there! Magical stuff.
Saw them in Glasgow earlier this year. Utterly amazing. Go see them people!
Steve really is a fantastic guitarist, he’s firmly in my Steve’s Guitar Orchestra, along with Hackett, Howe, Morse , Vai, et al
Yes definitely and he’s very similar to alex lifeson Rush !
Singer does a really good job!
thank you for sharing, 40 years these songs are in our minds and hearts, with still so much emotion, and Rothery still going better with time as a good wine
You’re so welcome 🙏 Thanks for your kind comment ❤
SR a true master of guitar!
MARILLION 👌dzieciństwo nigdy się nie kończy 💝🍒🇵🇱🖐
Superb! Saw this at Hammersmith Odeon in about 83 with my mate Martin Matthews RIP.
38 years are passed, and is fresh and young as ever... i remember when i buyed in my favorite records shop, i open and hear it in silence watching the fantastic artwork of Mark Wilkinson...blow me away
Lovely version of a masterpiece album.
Have to say, Rothery is god, love the man, but hang on, to take the place of 'Fish'...fucking well done that man....all round fantastic show. Thank you.
I was in my 17 years when felt in love with this album...so many memories and feelings! Great performance, thanks a lot!
You’re very welcome my friend ❤
The band sounds amazing and I don’t know the singer but he’s great. I’m sure he’s not an impersonator but he sounds a bit like Fish! I always felt that Steve wanted to do older material but wasn’t allowed to.
Such a great guitarist and it’s brilliant that he’s performing an original album
The singer is my cousin Martin Jakubski. He sings for the tribute band Stillmarillion. He isn't an impersonator but sings to the style for the Fish era songs.
Fish was the best singer songwriter for Marillion. I follow him. 👍👍👍
Andy…… He does a marvelous job! You can tell all these guys enjoy playing the older material!
@@theodoredemarest4904 Listen to the original Marillion with Fish.
Original is Marillion with Fish.
My fav album ever.
I can't help but admire the technique in that Lavender solo - such finely-honed touch to bring out his fabulous tone.
Simply BRILLIANT 🎸💯👌👌👌
And Martin from Stillmarillion AMAZING 🎤👌👌😎
Amazing... Mesmerising. And Steve Rothery is so concentrated and in the 'zone' and the singer is so perfect. Very moving performance of a timeless album. Thank you so much for this upload.
Steve is great, the singer does well, but misses the real Fish imo.
You’re very welcome my friend ❤
@@Theo-gk8lh very much so.
Childhoods End? is just perfect
It sure is a wonderful song ❤️
Do you remember? Of course I remember one of the masterpieces by the golden era Marillion! Brilliant then brilliant and still relevant in 2023!
A unmistakable guitar sound. An amazing masterpiece, one of the best progressive album of all time, IMHO. Thank you cpteurope!
You’re welcome my friend ❤
it's ok but it's no Close to the Edge...
Brings back so many memories. Bought the cassette tape when first released, and wore it out from repeat listenings.
I wasn't expecting this at all! What a nice surprise... I would love to see it live :)
Respectall round to the band excellent redenition on a timeless classic
Brilliant gig - I loved every minute of it!
I wholeheartedly agree ❤ It was a superb gig. And such a long and wonderful set list.
That guitar lick in Heart of Lothian is my absolute favourite,
Absolutely always been a fave too!
Minha banda preferida....
Mesmo sendo uma super banda cover ...é incrível a perfeição do timbre de voz do vocalista... lembra de mais o Fish e Steve Rothery sempre com sua genialidade ....
StillMarillion ... incrível....
❤ it is Steve Rothery on guitar 🎸
Thanks for filming and uploading. Steve appears to really enjoy playing Misplaced Childhood and I enjoy listening to him. Also thanks for the close up on the solos so I can revisit to see if I figured the solos out correctly by ear.
You’re very welcome 🙏 Thanks for your positive words. Yes, I tried to zoom in on Steve’s most significant guitar work to support of all you who plays his music. I was especially surprised by his amount of capo-work.
there's a tab transcription on Ultimate Guitar for the whole MC album, been trying to play it for years ;-)@@cpteurope
I was a big Marillion fan as a young teenager. Early fifties now and getting back into them.
I saw Marillion 40 years ago live in Germany and OMG this comes really close. Steve impressed me then and now again even on a Squier!
amazing voice
I was right at the front inbetween Martin & Steve for this, can see the side of my head in the vid lol, could hardly talk after the show for shout singing to much, great great night, thanks for posting the vid ❤
Parabéns! Interpretaram de uma maneira própria uma grande obra musical. Saudaçoes desde o Rio de Janeiro
Greetings to all our Brazilian friends from Denmark ❤
that music he wrote, amazing.
Wow!
I remember hearing this in the 80s. My gf and I misunderstood Fish, thinking he said, "This is from the album Misplaced Childhood". Then, with each song starting, we were ecstatic that they continued... Then we eventually realized it *was* "Misplaced Childhood", not "*from* Misplaced Childhood".
I haven't liked much of Marillion since This Strange Engine, though I know that many do. This is a treat for us greybeards.
As a huge Fish era (and Fish still) fan I’ve been trying to see StillMarillion live for years as Martin is fantastic. Wigan probably my best bet but the dates have not worked…yet. SR is an awesome guitarist.
Saw Stillmarillion recently in Chester - great tribute !
This is brilliant! Thanks for sharing this !
I really like the singer's voice.
A maior obra de arte e poesia ja feita dentro do Rock Progressivo!
"Supper's Ready" (Genesis) está nessa lista.
Whowwwwwww great, simply the class, wonderfull,my favorite album with clutching a straws ans fugazy
See you on friday in Warsaw ;-)
This is just fantastic❤
Awesome..love this music for all of my life!
Semplicemente fantastici,
This is so great. Thank you!
Wonderfull concert! Really nice, I hope to see Mr. Rothery again in Buenos Aires
Best regards from Argentina
Best regards to you, my friend, all the way from Denmark ❤ And thank you for Argentina World Champion 1978 ⚽️
Martins vocals are absolutely on point, close your eyes and it really sounds like Fish!
I can't tell you how many times Rothery has walked barefoot through my dna
I was very reluctant to listening to this video, but I said to myself what can I lose?
After 43 minutes of continued great music, I can say that it was worth any minute.
How many memories, my God!
Btw, I’ve never thought that I was going to envy the Danish people due to a live concert, but now I do 😊
Marillion...
I went to Wembley arena late 80s to see Marillion with fish ,again in London with Steve Hogarth and recently Steve Hacket & co , what strikes me is both vocalist pull it off well 🙌. Wooooow I enjoyed this
Ho rivissuto la momenti magici!❤😂
Merci ! Thans ,dank shein .
Really one of the greatest ever
Seems like a great concert! I enjoy and appreciate the obviously sincere efforts to stay true to the original, while also making nuanced changes. Misplaced and Clutching are two of my all-time favorite albums. These are the pinnacle of musicianship, songwriting, lyricism, and endearing and heartwarming storytelling. There are few albums of such musical beauty, including Rush's Hemispheres, Dave Mathews Band's Crash, Jeff Buckley's Grace, Yes' 91025, Peter Gabriel's So, U2's Joshua Tree, in which I hold the same level of esteem.
Trewavas' bass, Mosley's drums, Kelly's keyboards, along with their surrogates here, are all wonderful, but I experience such heights of joy when listening to Rothery's playing. Even though the melody is somber and melancholy - the many layers of delicacy and indelicacy of Blind Curve starting at about the 9:02 mark of this video. I can sometimes be a bit of a minimalist when it comes to certain arrangements, and there is so much delightful patience in this instrumentation that I cannot help but be thrilled. I find this part comparable, for instance, to Buckley's gorgeous guitar work on Hallelujah.
Anyway, long-time Marillion fan here, obviously. Thanks to all band members for this and all such great music throughout my life. 😁😁😁😁
finally the spirit of MariLLion on Fish era is back, thanks to Steve and his band (Martin Jakubski is excellent like the rest), is a bit like Steve Hackett does with Genesis songs, listening Steve Hogarth singing Fish's songs is truly painful for us fans and I think also for the rest of the original band ❤
I believe that Fish acknowledged Genesis as a major influence.
Speak for yourself because I LOVE seeing “H” singing songs from the Fish era and I'm sure if the rest of the band didn't like his performance, he wouldn't continue singing to this day. Fish left the band over 30 years ago, turn the page and thank Steve Hogarth for helping keep Marillion alive and releasing great records.
@@eduardopereira7207 it seems clear to me that everyone expresses their own opinion, I don't think yours is the universal judgment and is as valid as mine, I stand by my opinion, and regarding H i was only talking about the songs by Fish, for the rest I love him as a singer but not for the pre-Season's End songs where I find him completely out of place, regards
he does Sugar MIce very well tbh just hearing Rothery play the old riffs is enough for me ;-)@@eduardopereira7207
wonderful!
Great. Saw Fish live at his 30th anniversary tour of Misplaced Childhood in 2015. This year he is going on his farewell tour.
Excellent!!
Simply brilliant!
Thanks for a great video, a memory for life
🙏 You’re very welcome. it was a superb gig and in many ways outstanding ❤️
Great concert great guitar
Excelente!
Brilliant stuff
Thankyou for this 👍😊
Youre welcome my friend ❤️
Superb. Martin is amazing, if you get the chance, see him with his band Stillmarillion - they are brilliant.
Sinbad from Brookside singin
I've been called a lot worse. Thanks for your incisive wit! 😂
Thanks for this video. Goose flesh!!!
Woow, great singing !
Incredibly good. This music was a shock the first time i Heard it. The singer is brilliant though Fisch was the master
Not a nice guy though, by all accounts.
marvelously😙
Great song
Essa é uma obra que todos que a escutam sabem as letras das músicas do começo ao fim. É com Hemispheres do Rush. Emilson Melo, SC - Brasil
Fantastic!! Thank you for posting, it brought a lump to my throat for so many (good) reasons 🙂
Bitter Suite is the best prog song ever.
Timeless
"Steve Rothery does a fantastic job on the vocals, but who's the fellow on guitar?" Observed a heckler of sorts making a comment like that.
Fine rendition from what I hear in the first two tracks, like a structural examination of the different parts of the songs and a relaxed performance thereof from the band. I've heard several artists cover this album or selections from this album, and each approach cultivates unique performances. I wonder how the house mix sounded throughout the venue.
Came here for the Rothers guitar tone, stayed for the trip down memory lane. Impressively accurate singing performance, this. 👍
If I close my eyes, I can imagine it's Fish if he magically got an octave of his vocal range back.
❤ Meisterstück ❤
Wow fantastic.......but no substitute for big DD ❤
Amazing gig. Steve gave me his plectrum that he played Grendel with 🙂
Wonderful souvenir ❤
that's very special! 👍
wow, vocals are like a clone 😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 awes0me!!!
awesome singer - steve aint bad either :-)
Just noticed, that’s my birthday, did they play for me, I’d have loved that
The Rothmaster!
Fantastic this is sublime we all know how good the great man is but if I close my eyes andI didn't know better I would swear that is Fish singing so incredibly similar not a note of of place
Yess
The knucklehead louts constantly talking through Steve Rothery’s intense and stunning guitar work was a disrespect to such magnificent talent. Don’t these people have any class? Steve Rothery’s band were not only brilliant but so focused to put on a clinic on musicianship for those gathered that night to see. Breathtaking! Steve was zoned in on that guitar that he was transported to another level of existence. This was a masterful display of musical majesty. The band were all great. The vocalist was good too but either his voice needed to project more to the audience or the mix was slightly muting his sound. Hint: the audience wants to sing the chorus to Kayleigh so let them sing all of it if not the entire song! They love the song. The idiots talking continually seemed to show an inability to recognize brilliance that was before them onstage.
You are right tod3 - Talk Talk Talk and Talk = disrespectful for the band - NOT OK !
Fab
great
This is really good. Martin’s voice is a great stand in for Fish. Admittedly he doesn’t have Fish’s on-stage charisma and passion, but his vocal quality is very good
Nice nice vocal.
.....i am flash, no speach, very fantastic, my second LP....1982 thonk so....love it, super concert...but MEXICO....ooooh...💓⚓😇😁
