    A Wisconsin man stands trial for allegedly murdering and dismembering his parents without remorse, and providing false information on their disappearances. Chandler Michael Halderson, 23, faces charges including first-degree intentional homicide. Remains from his father Bart Halderson, 50, and mother Krista Halderson, 53, were found days apart, authorities said.
    Defendant Halderson reported his parents missing July 7th, claiming they left their home in the Village of Windsor days before on the 1st. He told WISC-TV at the time that they were going to the village of White Lake, Wisconsin.
    “My last message I got from them, they were going to White Lake for the Fourth of July,” he told “There are some festivities that go around there. Better drink prices at the bars. Stuff like that.”
    He said that to his knowledge, they were then going to their cabin in Langlade County.
    “Along the way, they could’ve stopped many places,” he said. “I wouldn’t know all of them.”
    He was allegedly just feeding everyone lies.
    Bart’s torso was found in rural Dane County, while remains from Krista were found in Sauk County and property run by the Department of Natural Resources, according to court documents obtained by The Wisconsin State Journal.
    Their son had been searching Google for terms like “Body found Wisconsin,” “Woman’s body found in Wisconsin,” “Wisconsin dismembered body found,” and “Dead body found in Wisconsin,” authorities said. Investigators suggested Chandler Halderson used to a visit to property belonging to the partner of his girlfriend’s mother as cover to hide his father’s torso nearby. He had shot Bart Halderson at least once before dismembering him, officials said.
    According to investigators, Halderson said after his arrest that “you don’t know the whole story,” and that he “didn’t feel bad about what I did.”

    I love Detective Shunk’s Wisconsin accent! And, in their interview/interrogation with Chandler, he displayed much patience.

      I like their accents too. And I agree Detective Shunk was definitely the "good guy" in the interrogation, Detective Hendrickson was the one who hammered Chandler after they both had to listen to his insufferable boring lies while he pretended to be feigning a mental handicap due to his "fall"

    The problem with the defense strategy is it is extremely unclear what point they are even driving at with their cross. How effective can it be if they ask a series of cryptic questions that the jury can’t even decipher?

    • @poppysdaddi
      @poppysdaddi 2 года назад +7

      yeah it feels like they have zero strategy. half the time they don’t have ANY cross and when they do it makes no sense or point.

    • @raqueladauto7309
      @raqueladauto7309 2 года назад +7

      🎯 💯… honestly it was better when they didn’t cross examine or say a thing. The meaningless questions are hideous 🤦🏻‍♀️

    • @rafalIL29
      @rafalIL29 Год назад +1

      I couldn’t say it better. Jurors are just bunch of average people and if I asked myself “ what’s was your point “ after defense’s cross examination, they probably were too . His defense was ineffective mainly because no one can overcome the amount of evidence against him. I was convinced of his guilt after superbly executed opening statements by the prosecution.

    • @mallninja9805
      @mallninja9805 Год назад +2

      @@rafalIL29 They had the IT guy from Barts company on the stand in one of these, and the point they were trying to make was that someone logged into his computer after he was supposedly dead. To me, that seemed like the strongest piece of _reasonable doubt_ that's come up throughout the whole trial...but they totally bungled it. Asking a bunch of meaningless, directionless questions before getting to the point. And if I think of a person with the tech knowledge of, say , my father as your average juror - he would have had absolutely no idea what they were driving at.

    • @shaheedharun445
      @shaheedharun445 Год назад +2

      There was no such thing as an effective defense to Chandler. The evidence against him was too overwhelming. Their ONLY good strategy would’ve been a plea deal, but the state didn’t want to give him a plea cuz they knew their evidence was very strong and plenty! The defense was castrated from the beginning

    If I were on the jury, I wouldn't be understanding the point of the questions made by the defense. I've heard on documentaries, lawyers giving credit to the jurors to be able to pick up subtle messages in cross examination, but I don't know if I'd be picking up what the defense is throwing down.

  • @CP2468
    @CP2468 2 года назад +10

    Never heard an attorney preface their question to the witness with ''out of curiosity....''. As a juror, I would assume that the question and answer are to be disregarded seeing as it's just being asked 'out of curiosity'. So unprofessional..

    Chandler had NO CHANCE of worming his way out of this crime. I would be so embarrassed of everyone learning about the LIE of a pathetic life I was actually living like Chandler, I'd have plead guilty to avoid all this humiliating information lol. It could've all been wrapped up in a day for sentencing, not have days of humiliating incrimination
