I just made this as an experiment for my half and half vegan family. Dinner is at 3pm and we (5 of us) have sampled it so much that now I have to make it again. Same thing happened when I did the mashed potatoes and gravy last week!!! Awesome recipes!!! I love this channel!!!!❤

Made it tonight and yes, healthy vegan recipe is not in the title but my 5 year old loves it and the 45 year old loves it. We are really whole food plants and this channel does that but you need a break now and again. This recipe is 🔥
PERFECT! Hands down, best vegan mac recipe ever. Our stores didn't have any of the vegan parmesans, so we just substituted that for Chao shreds, which still tastes amazing, but it would have been absolutely perfect if we could have had that funkiness that you get from the parmesan! We can't wait to try this again!!! We're gonna add a slice of Follow Your Heart smoked gouda and see how that turns out! Thank you!

@MakeitDairyFree - I made the baked version recently. I did simmer a carrot (for color) and 1/4 of an onion and 2 garlic gloves in my vegetable broth for deeper flavor. It was very good, now one of my favorite versions of vegan mac n cheese. Wish I could post pictures in comments because it was beautiful!

THank you for your video, It's very rare to find mac n cheese recipe who calls for no cashews or potatoes and carrots. People often don't understand that many of us living in rural place don't have access and or money to buy those expensive nuts and not the time to boil the vegs for hours.

Thank you for this and your many other recipes. I would kindly like to ask if you guys could talk about nutritional yeast. I bought one but it says Savory. I don't believe it tastes like the regular one. I haven't tried the regular one. Do I need to make sure the bottle just says Nutritional Yeast without the Savory when it is an ingredient in a recipe? I tried this sauce and the only thing I had for vegan parmasan was one I made with almond flour as a base(along with garlic/onion powder and salt). Anyway, other than that and almond milk(instead of oat), I followed the recipe exactly and put the sauce from my blender to a saucepan, warmed it a bit, then added the cheese and it would not thicken up. It was a watery mess that didn’t taste very good either. I don’t know if it was just my homemade parmasan or almond milk substitute or what. I had such high hopes for it. 😔
What can you use to replace the nooch? I’m allergic to nutritional yeast.
unfortunately you may just have to eat real cheese 95% of vegan mac and cheese recipes will use it. Unless you find store bought without it
Well, I'm sure this taste good. And I like my Whole Foods just as much as I like my processed foods. I'm not picky, but I definitely think that if somebody makes it with carrots and potatoes. That's okay. It doesn't mean that it's not as good as the processed version. If anything one of the best vegan cheese sauces I've ever made was with a potato and carrot base and it fooled everybody who has ever tasted it. I mean, everybody. Its all how you combine things. Just saying Shout out to Hot for food lauren Toyota for the best vegan nacho cheese sauce i personally have ever made and it takes like 15 minutes. But ne who variety is best. All love for vegan options ❤

Finally one that does not use garlic and onion powder. I always skip those as they ruin it.
But if you have the time…. Do the extra steps and make their baked Mac and cheese from the website! Holy cow I have never had a better vegan or non vegan baked Mac and cheese. It’s only a few extra steps and seriously no one would ever know it was vegan!!! Best ever. Yum.

Vegan "butter and cheese" are super processed and full of oils. While I don't love a cheese sauce made from potatoes and carrots, it is whole food plant based.

While this is true, sometimes "whole food plant based" doesn't work for everyone. I can't eat most vegan cream or cheese sauces made with cashews bc of IBS issues. Carrots and potatoes would be fine, but then you have to add other tuff to make it taste good, like garlic and onions which are also not IBS friendly. I literally had a cheese sauce once that was blended cauliflower and onion - my body did not like that one bit! So if vegan butter or cheese does the trick and doesn't cause me GI issues, I'll choose that. Don't knock how people choose to make their vegan food just bc you wouldn't eat that way. Everyone's bodies absorb nutrients differently - the whole food mindset is just another gatekeeping method that keeps people from trying or even sticking with veganism.
Why complain about their recipe. Just don't make it. It's optional for those looking for an alternative. Not going to make everyone happy.
