      Good catch. I took out the board again and jumped the connection + new screen. Unfortunately it's still a no go.

      That repair was a ten minute fix...run a wire to one of the hot wires on the LCD connector

      Right. Then you would have proof whether the PCH was really the problem. If yes, you could even think of adding a small switch outside. Cheapest solution, but if the customer loves his old notebook so much he could still use it.

    I hate when i get a no fix computer in for repair, i feel that it defeated me! But on to the next repair.

      He knows how to fix it, thats not a defeat. The defeat is when you cant determine cause of failure. Fact of the matter is that it will cost way more to replace that BGA than just putting in a known good mobo.

    The first inductor you replace next to it there look like a missing cap that goes to a via going to other side of board that could be needed for voltage or complete circuit

    I've had a problem with a Lid sensor not working correctly. Luckily, disabling screen from lid was a software thing on my PC, and can be stopped by disabling the lid driver.

    Have you tried using a known good lcd again after attempting the fix on the motherboard ?
    Maybe it's an LCD fuse issue now

    May I suggest to look at the connector on the screen side That part could also be damaged If I'm seeing the damage on the connector side thats on the board - OK I stand corrected - I Oopsed.

      That's called a Mickey mouse Job. You won't be able to control brightness or turn display off anymore. Lid close will also break and have no effect on screen going off anymore. .

      There are some board schematics software out there but usually you have to buy them and he's using one of them.

    cam_3v powers the camera module. It's there cause it obviously must go through the screen connector because the camera is on the lid.

    I rcvd a mobile which has same issue , i have removed the connector and replacing it solved the problem. You did tried everything but did not worked on connector. Maybe the issue is connecter.

      Depends on the seller. I ordered a Ryzen 5700x3d from there without issues. Much cheaper than local.

      Ive actually had really good luck with Ali, if you're ok with waiting a month for the part it's great. I wouldnt order things with mechanical parts like a GPU, cooler, things that can be broken in shipping, but other stuff I think is totally fine.

      AFAIK only Apple's brightness turns fully OFF on lowest setting. I haven't had a generic one do it yet.

    The screen of my asus laptop flickers when i move the hinges. Did Alex rule this out with his testing? Maybe the laptop thinks its lid is closed.

    look in the bios. if its a gamming laptop with 2gpus it can be gpu related. turn of fgpu integrated in the cpu and see if the backlight works again
